Raffaello's in Northumberland

We visited on Sunday evening for my Grandmas birthday. The service was brilliant and the food was delicious. Thank you for a great evening It was our first visit but defiantly wont be our last

First time for Sunday lunch -£11.95 for 3 courses. Beautiful food beef was perfect plenty veg although broccoli/ Cauli was a la dente. Leek and potato soup for starter really tasty definitely go back. A relaxed Sunday lunch

Had a lovely meal tonight at Rafaellos with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. Sea Bass and Serloin steak were cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Already recommended to family and friends. Will be back soon.

An amazing restaurant. Delicious food, excellent service in a gorgeous restaurant. Definitely worth a visit. The do happy hour meals everyday. The pizza's are fresh and delicious. Anyone will enjoy their food. If you're visiting Northumberland do pay it a visit.

My family and I were at the restaurant on August 26th 2023 for an evening meal 7of us, all was well until I was asked about my main meal, I replied it was very dry and could not eat it, I was offered a replacement but declined the girl was very nice then the gentleman who was front of house came over and asked what my problem was, so I repeated my concern again I was offered a replacement but declined, then he picked up my plate and while walking away said " I will take it to the kitchen and we will taste it then let you know if if we think it is dry " !!!! he then came halfway back to our table and said " I will take it off the bill" in not a very nice manner, everyone else's meal was perfect which we knew it would be as we often eat there. When we asked for the bill another gentleman who was from the kitchen said " yea whatever " our bill came to £260 and when we left there was NO goodbye or THANK YOU ! if this is the kind of staff they have now we will not be back.

This is a really small restaurant in a small village in Northumberland. The service is really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is AMAZING - one of my party wanted pizza but with added olives which were happily added. Every time I have been there I have had a really enjoyable experience.

Our family of five came in here for our evening meal as a change to the restaurants that we usually go to in Morpeth. We were warmly greeted and the waiter was very attentive without being ever present. We had a mix of pasta and pizza between us and the were all absolutely fabulous; the pizzas were crisp and piping hot and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I can't comment on the desserts as we were too full to try them but the set menu seemed to be incredible value at three courses for £7.95. We would definitely choose this restaurant as our first choice in the future, it was a lovely evening; thank you.

We ve been here a couple of times pre covid, but called in today on off chance and to escape the downpours …..sooooo pleased we did, lovely genuine friendly welcome, restaurant and facilities immaculately clean, great menu ….and then the food …..outstanding …….if I’d been served the seabass main course in a Michelin starred restaurant I’d have been equally delighted, absolutely outstanding flavour, presentation and quality of ingredients !! Special set menu is equally amazing …..£7.95 for 2 courses until 9pm on a week night …. Incredible value ! Even my coffee was superb ! On our favourites list now !

Firstly we waiting 30 minutes after ordering our starters for them to arrive. These where the star of the show as it all went down here from there. We then waited a further 20 minutes for our mains to arrive, which is when the disappointment set in. The Carbonara was bland and had no flavour or sauce, the Meatballs again where bland and didn’t taste like there was an ounce of beef in them. The Steak was ok but was chewy & the season veg could have had a bit more life to it. To top it all of when we asked for the bill the waiter huffed at us and walked away.

Before writing our review of Raffaelo’s at the Guidepost in Choppington we must say that Tim B’s review of two week’s ago is perhaps a little “unfair” to the management of this Restaurant as experienced by us this evening (20th June 2023). We are from Cheshire (spending a few days in Northumberland) and have to rely on Google Reviews and Map details to find places to eat. Raffaello’s was booked on the basis of its overall score and the quality of the Reviews. We were welcomed warmly and found the service well executed and Professional throughout. The food choices were as varied as usually found in most Italian Restaurants and were very tasty indeed ! Thank you to Jess and the Italian gentleman (name not given - sadly) for their kind assistance We shall return when next visiting !! Hugely enjoyable - many thanks !!

My husband and I have visited Raffaello 3 times in recent months and it has never disappointed. Last night I had the Stifado and it was delicious, husband had pizza which he devoured. I would highly recommend. The staff are all pleasant too and not in your face like in some Italian restaurants.

I've read the rest of the reviews here and I would say I'm a little stunned and sceptical of some of these. I've been to a few Italian restaurants in the past month in Morpeth and Ponteland and being brutally honest Raffaello's simply doesn't even come close to these in Quality, Service, Attention to detail and certainly Price. Its' Sunday, various pubs and restaurants are all buzzing but when we walked in this place was completely empty - possibly for a reason. We were greeted by a "Do you have a reservation" question which sounded like we needed one; something far from the case. Being totally honest the meal was tasty in itself - but it was served on cold plates and the sauce was simply COLD. In addition compared to other Italian Restaurants the micro sized bowl of chips (Apparently costing £3.00) was a fraction of the amount served by others. Regarding the attention to detail, this is the first Italian Restaurant I've actually been to that didn't even have a complementary piece of bread to nibble at while awaiting the meal. I thought the price extortionate also - this was in Guide Post, not Ponteland where things are much greater in quality and volume whilst being much cheaper in price with far better service. Given the place was completely EMPTY I was starting to get a bit annoyed at the so-called manager shouting trivialities to the other staff (Who were fine); not the best advert for ambiance whilst trying to have a decent meal. Regarding pricing, I was also concerned to find that it was cheaper to buy two half pints of beer (Only one offered as being available when asking verbally) that buying one single pint of the same beer. When I pointed this out the manager just shrugged his shoulders and said "We review stuff" ... WELL - YOU DIDN'T REVIEW THIS and quite frankly I don't think he gave a F*dg* about customer satisfaction. Would I recommend this place ... being honest NO ... there are far better and classier places in the locality; hence I'm sorry for my honesty but at least this is a genuine ad honest review. I'll leave it up to others to make their minds up if some of the other reviews are genuine but the overuse of phrases such as "excellent" and "fantastic" appear quit fake compared to the reality of the actual situation.

We’ve just returned from an early evening meal at this lovely local restaurant. Super friendly staff and delicious food and absolutely amazing value. The fritto misto (lightly fried seafood) was fabulous and the 3 course pizza/pasta deal was incredible value and the quality of the food was great. Highly recommend, we’ll be back!

What a wonderful restaurant, such a great find! My husband and I ate there last night, we were welcomed warmly by the charming manager and his staff. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and has a great atmosphere. We were given the most delicious toasted garlic bread with our drinks (complimentary), we both had the calamari to start, which was home-made and delicious, presented with a crisp fresh side salad and garlic dip. My husband had the chicken with artichokes, which was superb (he is very particular!) it came with fantastic home-made, double dunked, thick cut chips, to die for! I had a prawn pasta, I asked if they could make it with seafood and a creamy sauce and it was not a problem, it was the best pasta dish I have eaten in this country, the Chef is fantastic. Throughout the entire evening the staff were attentive and pleasant. Considering it was a Tuesday night, the world cup was on tv and it wasn’t school holidays, they were doing a good trade, I suggest you book. They have entertainment on monthly, next is Jason King (He’s great!) on the 13th September. We dine out alot locally and we feel this is the best, most authentic, Italian in the North of England, can’t wait to go back.

Intended trying this new establishment for some time. How disappointing! Went with my family for a midweek meal. Although several tables were full, they seemed to already be dining. Which made it hard for us to understand why it took at least 10 minutes before our drink order was taken. Even harder to understand how three couples who came in after us, were served their starters before us! When our food eventually arrived, it was very good. But the lack of service made us feel that it will be some time before we go again!

We often go to Morpeth/Newcastle for food, after hearing mixed reviews we visited Raffaellos this afternoon for the first time and so pleased we did. The interior was beautiful, staff were very welcoming and service was a good pace for us. I am very fussy when it comes to food and I can honestly say the pizzas are the best in the area (beat Morpeth hands down) they were very authentic and cooked well. Will be visiting again soon to try more of the menu. I wish Raffellos well in their new business venture. Thank you for coming to Guidepost.

Enjoyed yet another delicious meal here on Good Friday. The rack of lamb was outstanding! My daughter loved her choices from the set menu, she adores the potato skins and carbonara. Service was as always so friendly and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming

Have been a few times and it is great to finally have somewhere within walking distance for a meal out. Food great. Staff friendly and efficient . The only downside is that nowhere to wait if table not ready - could do with a lounge area

Just what Guidepost needs. A neighbourhood restaurant with a friendly welcome and something for everyone on the menu. It goes down a treat and it’s pretty good value. The little bottle of prosecco is great as an aperitif and great value. And my chicken liver starter was lovely and flavoursome. Home made pasta (ravioli) was a good main (slightly stodgy though), and the salmon was good too. Want to try the steak next time. You really cannot go far wrong here.

Two visits and no improvement to the level of service, that said the food is very good but what let's this restaurant down is the waiting staff. Mint sauce was reluctantly and sparingly applied to our plates with a small spoon, the request for a second bottle of tap water was refused because there was a couple of inches left in the bottle even though this was a table of six. However the biggest issue is the bills as there is no right first time approach, I have no doubt that a lot of customers who have enjoyed a few drinks wouldn't check their bill as most tables were querying the bill during both of ours. One last point as a local why do cars have to park on the pedestrian pavement right outside their front door when there is able parking bays within easy access.

Booked table for four at 715 on a Saturday night. The restaurant was bustling. We were quickly welcomed and our table made up for us.Service was a little slow but everyone seemed to genuinely care that you were being looked after and it was not too long before someone was at your table to check you were ok.The restaurant is noisy...atmospheric. the food was really tasty and it really did feel you were eating in a restaurant Italy.The bill was reasonable. £94 for two courses for 4 people and drinks including bottle of wine.I would recommend this place and can see Guidepost has a great new addition to enjoy Italian food.

As we had good reports my wife and I booked a table for two for Sunday Lunch, although a little early, on arrival we were shown to our table. My wife has limited taste buds so after perusing the menu I ordered the 3 course Sunday Lunch my wife only wanted one course. From the menu I selected cocktail di gamberi, with lamb for the main course followed by ice cream. My wife ordered a beef lunch. However after 5 mins the waitress returned to say that the starter I had chosen is not included in the 3 course lunch, so I ended up with the bruschetta al pomodora.Following my starter, we waited a while for our main course, however they were very enjoyable, praise indeed from my wife.So we will be returning, a good restaurant in Guide Post and 5 minutes from our house.

I have visited here with my partner 3 times since it's opening late last year.So far I have been very impressed with the standard of their food and have enjoyed sampling the menu.The first time we both opted for a chicken dish which were both very good and accompanied by a lovely selection of fresh veg with very good service.The second time we sampled Sunday lunch, this was delicious, lovely tasty beef, mashed, roast and new and sweet potatoes were served again with a lovely individual dish of fresh vegetables, home made Yorkshire puds and lots of tasty gravy, one of the best Dunday roasts I've had in a long time.Tried a pasta dish and my partner a pizza a couple of weeks ago and again both very tasty.It's good to support local business, and this little restaurant is very welcome in my area.I'm sure if they continue to maintain this standard of food and service they will receive the success they deserve

Just had a brilliant night here wirh family. Setting is beautiful and relaxed, staff very friendly and attentive and food was delicious. My wife had fillet which Chef Colin had cooked to perfection and my fritto misto and my son's pollo crema were spot on too. Clean plates alround! All in all a perfect night and i highly recommend this place

We had a great night when Jason King was performing, great atmosphere. it was £30 per person for a starter, main, ice cream, coffee and it was ok. The portion sizes were good. I had mozzarella to start and it was ok, a little greasy and the sauce was slightly bland. Steak for the main was lovely, well cooked and plenty of veg, we also ordered chips which were lovely. The ice cream wasn't great quality to be honest, so I didn't eat much of mine. The beer on tap is Peroni which I usually love and at 4.95 a pint I expected it to be perfect but it was disappointing to be honest, it tasted watered down and at that price it's not great. The decor in the place is lovely and it had a great atmosphere, the staff were really friendly and attentive and entertainment was faultless but just a few tweaks could make this place brilliant!

It’s nice to have s local Italian in the area and as a family of four we were looking forward to the visit. However we left feeling a little disappointed . Maybe that is because we all choose potato skins and pizzas for mains. The skins were ok but nothing more. The pizza Calzone disappointing in that it was a bit dry and with a too much crust. The other two pizzas were ok but again had a lot better. Service on a quiet night was lacking, as the waiter forgot the cutlery and the drinks. We would however go back again and try something else, on the hope that we choose wrongly. Hopefully we will be proved wrong with more appealing dishes.

Love this place so much. The atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming. Staff are friendly, food is beautiful- what more could you want?

Booked a table, arrived to be seated and left to wait and wait and wait. A further 2 tables arrived after us. Noone approached us to offer an explanation for the wait. 30mins in - still no order taken for drinks. In this time I saw two other tables return their drinks to the bar area because they were wrong/beer served in hot glasses. Finally the two girls behind the bar came out and took orders from the two tables who arrived after us, then returned back behind the bar. We walked out. If they wont put any effort into customer service, they won’t be getting our hard earned money.

Haven't reviewed anywhere for a while as I dont bother with mediocre restaurants, I only do reviews for the very good or very poor. A new Italian restaurant recently opened in Choppington of all places and I thought why not give it a try and wow what a good idea it was. On entering we were immediately blown away by the very stylish decor and layout, which was very tastefully designed and went a long way to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere,  we were warmly greeted by two charming ladies with lovely smiles, that made us feel very welcome, they showed us to a table which was immaculate and the red serviettes matched the fresh red tulip on the table perfectly. I instinctively knew in the first few minutes that this was going to be good and at no time during our visit were we disappointed. I had the mussels in tomato and chilli as a starter and my good lady a prawn cocktail, both were exceptional, we then had a pizza and a pasta dish which again were just great. Food and drinks £33.. which was very very reasonable for the food, service and atmosphere provided by such a fantastic little establishment...as Mrs A said, why go to Morpeth with such a little diamond on the door step. We will definitely return soon.Only thing....my new pet hate is plastic drinking straws....they last for upto 500 years in the environment...please dont use them as a matter of course, if you must have them at all, use only when requested.
