quick chef in Liverpool

This rejuvenation of Quick Chef has been worth the wait. It has been transformed into a cosy welcoming space (lovely staff) that is far more bistro/ restaurant than the cafe that preceded it. The menu has plenty of options and the quality is great. Thankfully like its predecessor Labranda offers great value in a relaxed and inviting dinning experience. It will continue to be our restaurant of choice before visiting the Philharmonic Hall or similar venues or just for an impromptu meal in the evening. Good luck to Sercan, Mustafa and the team.

Very sadly it seems that the Quick Chef has been sold and is being refurbished as a Turkish Grill (so similar and hopefully as good and reasonable). Mohammed’s Quick Chef was my regular haunt before concerts at the Philharmonic, where I would generally eat with the trombone section of the orchestra. It was really excellent and I only hope that the new owners will be as good.

Great food big portions and very affordable. Attended a gig at the Liverpool philharmonic just across the road. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Lovely atmosphere

We were off to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to see a show end of March and looked for a place nearby to grab a bite to eat and stumbled across this place just across the road. It had a 5 star food hygiene certificate in the window which is always more than a plus, and the menu had a wide selection of food including several choices for vegetarians, plus it was very reasonably priced, so in we went. The decor has its own charm. Definitley felt like I was in a cafe in the 80's! It's clean and comfortable though. Most of the tables were filled. We were shown a table right away. The staff are friendly. I ordered a pizza and chips (although the chips didn't arrive it was fine because the pizza was huge). My friend had the halloumi burger and chips and salad which was a very generous portion. I had some of her chips and there were still lots left over. Pizza was nice, very cheesy and filling. Came to about £18 including a beer and a can of pop so not bad at all. I actually forgot to check if I had been charged for the chips which didn't arrive but even so it was still a good deal. The pizza was huge and very cheesy but they had other toppings available. Would return, good value. Thanks.

We had their signature kebab meal for lunch. You can see it being prepared in the back, it all looks very promising and staff is very friendly. The kebabs were very tender and well cooked but.... no flavour! It's like they forget to add spices, salt etc. The meat just wasn't seasoned. So, pretty disappointing.

we were a little late for the Philharmonic and arrived to a full restaurant. As we arrived 2 people left, we sat down cleared the table and returned the dishes to the kitchen, happily we saw the owner. I explained we were running late and needed something quick, whatever he could do. Very quickly some delicious chicken skewers and rice arrived. This is not fine dining, nor a place charging fine dining prices. Quick Chef, the name says it all very good indeed

Decided to try this place for breakfast, I got poached eggs on toast and a cup of tea. At £6.90 I think that’s rather steep for what it was. My eggs was more like fried eggs and the yolk had popped all over my toast which left the bread soggy. I was asked if I wanted any sauce which I said I’d have some ketchup on the side but unfortunately it came smothered in it, I wouldn’t usually mind but it was cheep ketchup which ruined it for me. It also tasted like cheap cooking oil. The staff was friendly but the women who brought my food over was scratching something off the plate which put me off from the get go. Im not saying this place is terrible, maybe the kebabs are nice but breakfast is certainly a disappointment. I won’t be back in a hurry

This place is just so good it would not be fair to keep it a secret. The locals and the orchestra who play over the road know this is a cheap and cheerful venue with great staff and great food. Just don't tell everyone or we won't be able to get a table.

No nonsense authentic cafe/restaurant - no tablecloths here! I took my Uni Son for dinner. Friendly staff and efficient service with a good atmosphere Lovely fresh food (various kebabs) and bread. Hadn't been for a while and was glad to see the food is just as good as ever. The service is excellent too. If you want great food at a reasonable price, then visit.

This cafe/restaurant channels ALL its efforts into the food and the service. Don’t expect comfy seats and Andy Warhol paintings with a maitre d’ and shiny floors.. but you can guarantee that you’ll get a great meal at brilliant value and speedy service.

On our way to a show at the Liverpool Philharmonic, and we called in for something to eat as right across the road and we only had an hour to spare. We ordered the kebab platter for two and was surprised at the size of the meal the meat was cooked lovely and the salad was nice and fresh, fries hot and the turkish bread and dips also tasty. We also ordered beers as who doesn't like a EFES with a Charcoal BBQ, lovely and clean and the waitress was really friendly too. Will certainly consider here again on future trips to the theatre.

Having paid lots of money for an expensive, tiny , pretentious dish around the corner we fell into this caf starving and had the most delicious, satisfying kebab meal for less than the cost of a starter in the first place. The decor''s basic but the food's great.

Popped in for a salad and glass of white wine on my visit to the City on 15th August 2020. Went for the chicken salad and it was so enjoyable with delightful flavors. Attentive friendly service and such reasonable prices. Give the restaurant a try.

Came here by accident wanting some food quickly. It was superb. Lamb kofta, lamb souvlakia, hummus - all fresh cooked and really tasty. Fab bread, light and fluffy. Great staff, very friendly. A very happy accident and we'll certainly come back.

We were greeted by friendly staff at this small but comfortable cafe/restaurant. Our order was taken in suficient time and drinks brought over.

Always thought this was an ok sort of place to go for a breakfast, cheap and cheerful. Today though as I was nearing the end of my breakfast I spotted a short, black hair stuck to the plate underneath my egg. I approached the staff and spoke to the manager. Now, to be honest, I can accept that these things happen. If staff had been pleasant and assured me they would check out what happened, I would have left it there. Instead the manager was very rude, shrugging and saying “what do you expect me to do?” I suggested an apology would be a good place to start and he snapped “sorry!” Sounding anything but. Then started trying to tell me that only women worked in his kitchen (not sure what difference this made)

Place wasn't the cleanest or nicest looking gaff, came in no greeting or not shown to seats just left to fend for yourself despite staff being on the floor. You have to go up and place order and pay yourself, couple of tourists in place didn't realise this but no assistance or help given to them so they seemed to sit near us for an eternity before going over. A guy come in absolutely stunk the place out of Marijuana, prob could whiff him from the bombed out church it was that bad. How they didn't turn him away is beyond me. Food was bland, chicken shish advertises as cooked in special sauce, so special it had no taste! Chicken was cooked well the lamb dishes overcooked and again bland. Nothing on the salad nor rice just plain simple and boring. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for and for a couple of quid extra there is an abundance of quality eateries nearby. Warm soft drinks in the can, no offer of a glass with ice, am surprised they actually even brought the food over. It's poor, wouldn't go back and stomach already feels off.

I ordered Lasagna and all I got was a dish full of melted 'cheese' ,not one bit of meat was in sight...I will not visit this place again.

He estado viniendo aquí durante años y nunca decepciona. Teníamos el plato mixta para dos en esta ocasión. carne fabulosa y salsas con patatas, arroz y pan. Toda la comida caliente y sabrosa y pulido en ningún momento. Aunque estábamos llenos aún encontrado para baklava con helado y té de menta. Lo recomiendo sin duda.

Básico. sin manteles, etc. Pero es como comer en Turquía - puedes ver cocinan la comida en una barbacoa en la parte trasera y el servicio es genial, con enormes porciones!

Estuvo bien, pero nada para emocionarse. La lata de coca cola era cálida y sin hielo, pedí un kebap kebab, fue una salsa especial con yogur y carne de cordero, sin embargo, el pan era muy pasada y la salsa solo sabía como típico que en Pizza. Aunque la carne estaba fresca. No estaba mal, pero con negrita calle 5 minutos, me gustaría probar uno de los muchos restaurantes deliciosos independientes en allí.

After a gig at The Phil we needed somewhere to eat. This place was perfect. Food was excellent, well cooked and plentiful. Efes beer was a bonus.

This is such an elegant and simply beautiful restaurant. Perfect for couples, friends... A friend of mine and I often come here after uni as the food here is comparatively so affordable, yet so fresh and simply delicious. Visited here as going to Philomonic. Was very impressed. Had mixed kebab and came with rice chips and salad with warm bread. All was good. Washed down with tea and all less than a tenner.

Given the wrong menu, Ordered the seabass with potatoes and spinich, after order arrives 25 minutes later told that they only serve it with rice or chips even though the menu on the restaurent wall doesn't say so. Apparently they follow a different menu.

We've eaten here several times on trips to Liverpool. Good Turkish food, well-cooked and usually includes fresh mixed salad and bread. Great for a sustaining lunch or pre-concert/theatre meal. Licensed. Clean. Pleasant waiting staff.

Called in for a bite to eat before going to see a show at the Philharmonic Hall which is literally across the road from this cafe. The interior is basic but in line with other Turkish restaurants we have visited. Greeted by a polite waitress who gave us menus and told us to call her over when we were ready to order. We settled for a cold meze platter to share and chicken shish kebabs. Our starter arrived quickly and we tucked in to to some lovely dips and salad with fresh bread. We hadn't finished when our main courses arrived! The chicken was perfectly cooked and very flavoursome and the salad and rice were plentiful. I was totally stuffed by the time I had finished! If we go to the Philharmonic Hall again, I would definitely return as this cafe offers quality food and very reasonable prices.

Had lunch with some friends today, and we were really surprised. The restaurant looks nice, and there's plenty of choices ! It can satisfy everyone. However, the service was not awful but almost, specially from the blond waitress. First, we've been charged £2.5 because our debit cards were international and not British. Then, she didn't bring any knives or forkes, I had to take some on another table. She didn't propose us some water, nothing. There was an issue with some water running from the ceiling but it was not their fault though. Although the waitress was not the nicest person on earth, her Germam colleague was really nice and welcoming with us, fortunately. The food is wonderful and we were happy to have lunch there, it could've been perfect without these negative points stated above though.

We went as a group of friends in the early evening. There was plenty of choice on the menu but we opted for a set meal for 4. This included lamb chops, chicken legs, lamb, rice and dips to name but some. There was plenty for us to eat and all of which was well cooked and delicious. Everyone was pleased with our choice and we were all full to the brim after polishing it all off. The staff were prompt with service and polite. For a restaurant in the centre of a city it was extremely reasonable and well worth what we paid. I will definitely be returning.

The outside of this place is nothing to write home about, looks like Fred's cafe but the posher joints were fully booked.We were instantly greeted and seated and the menu was comprehensive with some standard English items as well as great Turkish options.The food was quickly cooked from fresh on a large grill and our kebab and chicken were served with boiled rice and chopped salad. There were few sweet options but we had a wonderful hot chocolate cake and ice cream.

I have been here a few times on an afternoon out with my mates in Liverpool. Visited on Friday night with my partner and was again really impressed. The lamb kebab and chicken kebab we had were really tasty. The service was good and staff were friendly. Two meals, one glass of wine and a beer for £23.

The kebabs here are a must. Go on my lunch with the lunch brigade crew in my work. The combo is a must. I'd choose this over a greek any day.

Il menu'è molto vario e abbraccia un po' tutte le cucine.Ottimi i prezzi,deliziosa e abbondante l'English Breackfast che servono fino alle 14:00 circa.Squisita la zuppa che consiglio vivamente servita con dei pezzi di pizzapane.Buona anche l'omlette. Consigliato per un pranzetto veloce e vicinissimo alla stupenda cattedrale di CristoRe.

Also had lovely glass of wine. Excellent service and I loved the little turkish delight given with the bill. Highly recommended and excellent value.

After refusing to pay £16.50 at the Hope Street Hotel over the road, we stopped here for breakfast this morning. Had a very generous and delicious full english for £5.50. The place itself was clean, lovely decor and welcoming. Service was quick and the staff were friendly. Can't fault it.

I absolutely love this place. I recommend it to everybody. The food is cheap and amazing! The BBQ kebabs are out of this world. The staff are always friendly and work very hard specially when they get mad busy. Go here and treat yourself!! It's a hidden gem.

I go here all the time as it's so close to uni and so much than eating in the uni cafes - it's perfect when you have a little break through your day and fancy something to eatThe decor isn't amazing but the staff and food are - there is such a wide variety of food available and the price is ridiculously cheap. Staff are super friendly and food comes very quickly - it never tastes cheap, it's absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend the chicken burger and the big breakfast is very good too

I literally come here all of the time with my friends. It is right next to uni so it is in the perfect location and honestly has one of the best selection of different dishes in Liverpool. Honestly the amount that you have to choose from in such a small cafe is incrediable. It is what it is. A nice cafe with friendly staff and good cheap food. Doesn't taste cheap and is worth it.

Very busy at lunchtime during term times as it's close to many buildings from two universities, so get there early if you are able. Great selection of reasonably priced food, but the tables are a bit cramped. Excellent pizza. Order & pay at the counter, then they bring the food to you.

Quick chef & bar is located at the top end if Hardman Street close to the philharmonic pub.Don’t be put off by the decor once inside there is a warm welcome & value for money meals.We called into Quick chef & bar one Saturday evening for a bite to eat before a show. The food was very tasty and good portion sizes, hence we left there very full. The staff was very friendly and although you pay for your meals up front, we did witness the staff taking order direct at the table of more senior dinners.They serve bottle beers and limited amounts of sprits.On a cold evening similar to when we attended I would avoid any table close to the door as the cold air comes rushing in every time it’s open.As a gauge for value for money, we be back again!

Cafe with a large menu. Get in, get out sort of place. It's clean, friendly, cheap, just a good place to stop off and get a fry up, burger, kebab etc etc... I recommend the Egyptian breakfast which is clean, filling and light on the stomach.

Just about the last eatery on Hardman Street before you hit the Philharmonic, Quick Chef is surprising good. It has greasy spoon elements in burgers and chips, but also offers kebabs, fajitas (which I really like), vast pizzas and salads including a chicken honey offering and a feta salad, both of which I've had a few times because they're really good. The value for money is excellent, it's popular with students so that's a good indicator of the prices and the portion sizes are generous apart from the salads which I find more manageable. Hot and cold drinks are available as well as a wine list which was introduced a few months ago. The toilet (there's only one) is upstairs. Quick Chef is bright, clean and worth a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This was my favourite cafe during my time at uni and things haven't changed. The prices are extremely reasonable, service always good and they have even spruced up the interior. The food is delicious, my favourite is the garlic cheese pizza (which is basically a cheesy garlic calzone) but all meals Are good here!
