We came to Nassington to collect something my wife had bought online and figured, while we were here, we would try it for a late lunch. I went to check if they allowed dogs (we have 2, beagle and shihtsu) and were still serving; as soon as I walked in the door it felt warm and welcoming. There were quite a few folks in but it was genial rather than crowded, and the music was actually background rather than live gig level (a rarity these days, it would seem), so also seeing the cosy fire and the water bowl for dogs made our decision inevitable. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient, and our order was taken quickly for a shared Camembert to start then beef sirloin and pork belly mains which didn't take long to arrive and, when they did, what a treat! Quite the best Sunday dinners we've had in a long time, with top-notch roasties, beautifully done roast carrots & parsnips and a scrumptious cauliflower cheese. For me, if the food is good enough the only accompaniment should be an optional twinkle of salt & pepper and so it was here; all was cooked to perfection with excellent flavour and any additions would have spoiled it. They only had two ales on the pump and one was GK IPA (I never touch it) but luckily they had a fine local Nene Valley Brewery session blonde which went very well with my meal. The doglets settled in very quickly, which is always a good measure of the ambience, so all in all this was a brilliant spur of the moment choice. We will definitely be back and I would heartily recommend it to anyone who likes a traditional local pub with atmosphere and excellent food - well, who doesn't? :)

We booked on a deal scouting for a place to stay for our small ramble group of 12 Lovely village & quaint old pub which is far better than the impression the frontage gives Rooms are small cottages around the car park which leads down to the riverside so very scenic & surprisingly tranquil Rooms are fine, beds cosy & comfy they were just delivering 55 inch plasma TV's as we left! Excellent food in the restaurant, good choice & sensibly priced but most of all very well cooked The staff were extremely pleasant & helpful especially mentioning Amy, Chris, Veronique & Shaun the breakfast chef - fantastic poached eggs Even the chambermaid was cheerful & made sure we had all we needed Great location for walks around the Nene Valley & the weather was amazing for early April I hope to persuade our Ramble Group to visit but not at weekends because I guess the Queens Head had a thriving wedding business

The hotel is situated in a quaint quiet village. It is on the edge of a river which is quite pretty. Parking is outside the room. The room was clean and spacious. The only thing I would suggest is that the bathroom was in need of an upgrade. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. The only negative I would suggest was that there was a wedding taking place and we were not informed on booking or arrival or when we booked our evening meal, which we ended up going elsewhere for as we couldn't even get near the bar.

We dined in this delightful village Pub/Hotel/Restaurant using a Travelzoo voucher. Straight away we felt welcome and the dining room was warm and inviting. Our three courses were all beautifully prepared and presented and served with a smile. I will come again during warmer weather if only to have a pint by the side of the river.

I purchased a Travelzoo 3 course a la carte voucher for two for £35 (usually £70). I booked in for Sunday lunch 3 courses and I must say it was one of the best places I've had a roast dinner in and around the Stamford/Peterborough area, we couldn't actually manage the last course as we were so full. Queens Head Inn also offers reasonable accommodation and there is a lovely outside area by the river to sit in the summer months - although they only serve the bar menu outside.

A warm welcome by the landlord on entering the bar is always a delight.I had only popped in for a coffee but decied to eat when I saw the traditional English menu and lots of plates going out to diners. Good traditional British menu , and food prepared using local ingredients with indiviual touches , led to a very pleasant lunch.Recommended

Situated a few miles from Peterborough in the village of Nassington this well converted village pub does very good food. The service is good but the friendly and willing young staff on duty for Sunday Lunch could do with a little guidance from management just to take it to the next level. They were courteous and polite but you should not have to ask for serving spoons or mint sauce for the lamb and horseradish for the beef. All that said our party enjoyed the experience and the very good food. The large function room/restaurant is very well appointed but could have been a little warmer on a chilly day. It is well worth a visit and we shall be back.

I had previously visited this pub at Christmas and the food was excellent. On my next visit I chose steak and chips, and that is what you got. There was a half a tomato but no other vegetable. The steak was very fatty and after cutting the fat away you were left with a small piece of steak. Not sure I would visit again in a hurry.

This pub has a large seating area at the rear and is trying to create a gourmet of well cooked food. I was disappointed to be crammed on a table that clearly wasnt big enough and I had to sit with a table leg wedged between my own legs. The starte was very good and well presented, the downside was the food was served on large dark plates that had greasy marks or finger prints round the edges, very off putting ! Now I'm not sure if the waitress just had greasy hands or the dish washer wasn't up to the job. I had the venison that was cooked perfectly yet again served on the same type if plates as the starters !! The home made apple pie was average and I think was bought in, the service was very slow for drinks and wine. The evening was topped off by a waitress dropping drinks behind me and covering my shirt with coke. Overall drinks and wine were priced at bar rates, food was cooked well but service was poor and those plates greasy.

Stayed on a DBB basis through hotel shop. The food was on par with that from any top rated establishment and the staff can't do enough to help. Rooms are simple but comfortable and there are some great walks nearby. Highly recommended!

Popped in for a piece of cake. Got some carrot cake and Victoria sandwich. Both cakes were very tasty and moist. Nice staff slightly expensive for one slice so I’m not giving 5 stars.
