Bill’s Rushden in East Northamptonshire

Took friends to Bill's Rushden Lakes for lunch. We had a great meal first class service in a lovely atmosphere. The staff were so helpful and lots of smiles. Our friends were very impressed. Looking forward to going again.

Unfortunately the vegan breakfast was tasteless and over priced. The sausage dry and no seasoning at all and scrambled egg was sloppy, tasted awful, absolutely no thought into what real vegan food tasted like. The bread was not vegan and butter definitely not vegan. Please if you are going to put a vegan meal on your menu get a vegan chef. The service was brilliant and the pub was great inside, comfortable seating and atmosphere great.

Lovely venue and the staff are always attentive. We got to enjoy a meal in the pods and although heaters were on it was a little chilly, but the blankets were a nice touch. Food was good, no real complaints, just not quite up there with some others we've experienced locally.

Waiting 25 minutes for a menu (was just told to sit down, we even asked a few times for the menu but got nothing back) Then got served and waiting for freezing cold food (it’s not 55 minutes in and we still haven’t recieved our drinks) My partner then goes up to the bar and asks for our drinks to be told I’ll find out where they are. 1 hour in and we get our drinks (thank you to the young lady who actually helped us and served us when realising)

Went with a party of 12. 6 being children age 3 to 11. The staff was very welcoming, and nothing seemed to be an issue when asking if a dish could be altered for the kids. The food was tasty and hot. Good selection of drinks and water for the table free. Nice amount of seating, including outside.

The most bland, undesirable, tasteless food ever. Its fair to say, Bills has definitely hit rock bottom. My wife and I have eaten in Bills many times in the last 10 years, mostly in London and Oxford, and a couple of times in Rushden Lakes, but never for breakfast, but after today, we'll never be visiting again, the breakfast was simply awful. I ordered a green smoothie which had the flavour of grass - great if you want to drink grass, but not when you hope to taste the apple and mango and ginger - seriously, I've had more fire in an ice bucket. The halloumi & poached eggs on toast was so flavourless that I couldn't do anything with the flavour by adding salt and pepper: the eggs tasted of water - I've never tasted eggs like that, the 'sourdough' toast was soggy (from the poached eggs) and flavourless, and the tomatoes over acidic. I ordered a side of black pudding and smashed avocado. The black pudding was eye-wateringly salty, yet the avocado had clearly been thawed and drenched in lime juice, so any hint of avocado that might've made it through defrosting was obliterated. My wife ordered eggs benedict: the hollandaise sauce was flat and flavourless, like emulsified water, the eggs were also flavourless, and, her eggs were lukewarm at best. The muffin had not been toasted, and she struggled to even find the ham. Total price was a little over £44, and they even tried to sneak a 12.5% service charge on there too. Finally, the wifi was incredibly slow, and with a poor mobile signal, it was impossible to pay using their qr code thing; fine, we'll pay using the normal means, but this means that the QR plate is then ill-placed, fixed to the table but around 3mm thick its enough to keep knocking your arms on. Finally, it was a relatively calm Friday morning, yet the music was really loud, so everyone was speaking loud to overcome the music making for a tortuous breakfast akin to the 4th level of hell!

Very nice. I just didn't like them putting a service charge on my bill, then at the bottom of the bill asking if I would like to give a tip, isn't the service a tip? Why would you want to give it twice. I hate it when restaurants decide that we should tip and how much No one tips me in my job. Other than that, it's very nice.

Amazing place with great food but needs more space fo customers.

The staff are smiling and lively but when booked a table told we could come in 10 mins before to decorate was wasn't able to and it was all a rush, when ordering a drink at the bar we got our drinks but took for ages to be able to pay for them

Met as a halfway house with my daughter for brunch. The staff was excellent. Very attentive to any dietary needs. Exceptionally concerned about any allergies. Not that any of us had allergies.

Second visit today, what a mistake! Hostess clearly had disdain for non bookers. Left before we upset her further by ordering some food..jeez.

We just wanted to say thank you to the staff. This was our first outing as a family since my dad has come home from hospital for cancer treatment. Our main priority was to keep him secluded as possible as he is high risk but to introduce a bit of normality. They not only gave us a booth area but moved bookings around to not be close (we didn’t ask for but proof of amazing service). His food also has to be cooked well done which they made sure of also. He also hasn’t had much of an appetite but ate the whole lot…. We all did. So thank you bills and to very tall host!

Popped in for cooked breakfast whilst my partner was shopping. First time visit and couldn't fault anything. It was a Tuesday midmorning so relatively quiet but the staff the food and the décor were fantastic . I would definitely recommend

If you're a picky eater avoid this place like the plague, the food here is very tasteless and expensive and if you're picky you won't find anything here.

Great food, great service and a full gluten free menu too

Came for a family meal with a 4 and 2 Yr old. The food we ordered was nice, could do with more chips! I ordered the immunity smoothie, it was awful. The ginger was too overpowering making it undrinkable.

The service was absolutely amazing! From being seated to the display of the food! I was very fortunate and thankful that I was able to get pancakes especially when we were a lil late. All the staff were really friendly, soft hearted and lovely! I think the waiters could be a lil more steady when bringing over drinks since my hot chocolate did get spilled all over the glass and made the saucer messy.. mistakes happen though and wasn't really a problem :) Pancakes could be softer and lighter but overall were very tasty and were decorated beautifully and professionally. We will be back!!!

Took mum for a very early mother's Day treat. Staff were friendly, helpful and we felt they really looked after us. Food was great, mum had classic burger, I had dirty vegan burger. Both were a good size, really tasty and served with great tasting fries. Everyone we met seemed to visit there often and had good things to say. On the pricier side, but we'll worth it. Will definitely come again. 😍

An early week date night and we thought we hadn’t tried Bills so gave it a try. A friendly greeting upon entry and showed straight to our table. It wasn’t busy but it was a Tuesday in January so…. We ordered and the food arrived quickly. Intrinsically there was nothing wrong with the food, it was just nothing special. The Calamari was ok, the halloumi sticks we probably the highlight but the burger and chicken fajitas were pretty flat taste wise. Probably wouldn’t go back simply because there are so many other places to try.

Lovely lunch with a friend. Interesting menu, enjoyed the sticky duck and added the squash hummus flatbread. And cinnamon donuts with a coffee for dessert which was delicious. Our server Hope, was patient and informative and nothing was too much trouble. Well done.

Never been to Bills before ! Table was booked ages ago. Table not ready when we arrived, then squashed onto a round table very cramped seating in the restaurant. Felt like I was sitting with the couple next to us. Staff were very attentive even though they were busy. Food nothing to write home about, pancakes dry had to ask for more sauce. Seafood linguine lacking in seafood 1 squid ring , 2 prawns and 5 mussels. Steak ok but no extras apart from curly salad and chips. No mushroom or tomato, for £24 . Pudding not great choices, when you say mini pot you really mean mini . 2 x beers £14, which is rather excessive. Can of coke wow £3.50 . Total bill for 4 no starters 4 mains and 2 puds. Came to £140 which includes a 12.5 % service charge. Such a shame as we meet up with friends we dont see that often. Hubby came home and had a sandwich. Will not be returning .

Food is great but service...once seated it takes a while to get served, but always busy.

Amazing deal for kid's eat free but they definitely claw the money back elsewhere, ie £3.50 for a can of diet coke. The concept of being able to pay at your table is a really good idea but it doesn't allow you to take the tip off. Yes, the staff should be entitled to a tip but if you are on a budget it is an extra 10+% so it is always nice to have the option. Food was fresh and very nice. Tables were clean as well as the toilets. Overall would definitely go again but only to use the kids eat free deal.

Adam who served us this time was excellent. He was able to point out some of the new dishes for us to look at and recommended some other menu items. Great food as always which is why we keep coming back!

Fast service but food was pretty poor so not great value for money. Rubbery eggs and food pre cooked and just heated up so not somewhere I would visit again in a hurry

Absolutely terrible manager John (the nonce) who will stare at your children has no idea how to run a restaurant.., nothings fresh out the. Kitchen., flat drinks (hence) cans of pop.., dead beers might be the reason for no customers.., I’d definitely choose another restaurant to eat at in rushden lakes.., sorry John the nonse.., I’d go bk behind your computer playing Warcraft

Very friendly staff. Lovely pancakes. Great atmosphire. Although they were busy and everyone was talking, the noise was not excessive and did not detract from a very pleasant evening with friends.

We had a great visit. Really impressed with the service, vibe, surroundings and cool playlist. I've given it four stars as there are other restaurants who do small plates better in the same price range. This wouldn't put me off going again so I'll definitely be back.

Good was good. Bit expensive hence 4 not 5 stars. The assumed service charge is also annoying especially for small party of 3. Great service from Lucy C. Saturday night food was out quickly and hot. Burgers good and the meatballs too.

This is a great place for a coffee and breakfast, will definitely go back again and sample the menu further. Dog friendly and super busy, so it's best to book a table. Great staff, very helpful and friendly.

Breakfast at Bills is enjoyable. They have no issue to customize it either which is great. However another time when we had dinner, the food was not so great and there was too long of a waiting time. Hope it has improved since.

Seated quickly. Friendly greeting by waitresses. I was offered a gluten free menu and had help with what I could and couldn’t eat, no problem at all. Lovely to have many options. Had fabulous suggestions too especially for pudding. It was my birthday and we had a wonderful waitress called Rosie who was fabulous.
