Terrific menu and a pleasant change from the standard Adnams pub offerings in the area. For example some nice Middle Eastern style starter options all homemade including the breads and I had the Korean style chicken and rice bowl and it was delicious and included pickles and sriracha sauce both homemade. Some comments about portion size in other reviews but there is a choice of big or small portions on a lot of the dishes so it's up to you. Also worth mentioning that the prices are less than most the pubs in Southwold and in my experience at least, represent considerably better value for money given the quality of the food.

I had ham and eggs which were fantastic. Others had roast beef which was disappointing. The beef was good but the vegetables appeared to have been cooked possibly using a sauce from a Chinese recipe. English Sunday roast mixed with a Chinese dinner do not go well together. Do not bother with the deserts as they were sub standard. I cannot recall what it's called but mine consisted of 2 shots of espresso coffee and a tiny piece of vanilla ice cream dumped on top. It was placed in a small cup and barely reached halfway up the cup. The coffee was stone cold which, I now understand, should have been hot! ( Must have been standing for quite a while before being served, or was never heated.) Shame really as the pub is very nice and the two staff were friendly and helpful. However, I couldn't bring myself to complain as they did their jobs well.

Got into town at about 7.45pm on a Wednesday night, its cold and raining, there aint no punter in the venue. I say to the barman, bro you guys still cooking, he goes out the back and checks, the the Chef says yes. The next 45 mins were literally exceptional. 4yo daughters pumped with her Cheese Pizza, I grab the house burger, which was exceptional. Home made chips wow. The best choice in the area, and a great quality pub feed that would hold its own anywhere in the world. Go here 100%.

Beautifully presented, really tasty food. We went on a Sunday to find it was all booked up but the really friendly staff squeezed us in and we were so pleased they did. Lovely open fire and cosy welcoming atmosphere too. We both had the Beef roast dinner which looked and tasted amazing..! So much so that we can't wait to go back again. The attention to detail and unusual twist of crispy kale & parsnips and beautifully cooked beef with tasty veg and crispy toasties & puds was devine. One of the best roast dinners we've ever eaten. I only wish the pub was near us but unfortunately over 2hrs away. I highly recommend this lovely pub for its creatively presented, quality homecooked food and when visiting the area it will be top of our list to eat. Suggest you may need to book a table as it gets very busy. Well done team we love it!

Don't write reviews very often. It takes something a little bit special to get me to bother myself. This place deserves it. I write this review as I sit outside the pub finishing my cider. Came out this way for a weekend break. Walked to the local pub, the Star. Got there to find it shut at 3. So we drove to the next nearest one on the Satnav. Got met with a friendly hello from the guys in the garden at the front. Went inside to find country pub personification. Low beams, odd chairs, horses brass on the wall. Rang the big shipping bell for service. The guy who greeted us outside turned out to be the chef who came in and served us. We asked if they had finished with food and technically they had, but he kindly offered to go back into the kitchen and knock us up some grub. I ordered the freshly caught haddock and chips. Other half had a veggie burger and chips. Can honestly say it was the best battered fish I've ever eaten. Fresh, flavoursome and the batter was superb. It came with freshly made skin on chips, that were again fantastic. All finished off with mushy peas, a homemade coleslaw and a delightful tangy red pepper sauce/jus. My partner said that her burger was delicious, and all the additional accoutrements within went so well together. All in all, from the warm welcome, to the benevolent service, though to the gorgeous food, I felt compelled to write a glowing review. If everyone gets the same experience we got, then I'm telling you now, this place is worth travelling extra miles for. Thanks guys and girls. Well done.

Was very much looking forward to our menu choices, which we (party of four) had looked up on website before making our booking, only to find none of our choices were currently available! 🙁 It transpires the menu shown on the web is from 2022 ! And, in fairness, the web site does say "sample menu", but these days, given how many of us look up this info in advance, it would be most helpful if kept more up to date. Will still visit in future for another go in the future, but will check in advance what is on menu.

The Queens Head Country Pub is an absolute gem that exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The rustic charm of the pub created the perfect ambiance for a delightful dining experience. Let's talk about the food—it was simply outstanding! The menu offered a wide range of options, and I must say, every dish we ordered was an absolute delight. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the flavors were expertly balanced. The pub takes great pride in using locally sourced produce, and it truly shines through in the taste and presentation of the dishes. Whether you're a fan of classic pub favorites or looking to try something more adventurous, the Queens Head Country Pub has something to satisfy every palate. One aspect that sets this place apart is their dog-friendly policy. As a dog owner, it was refreshing to find a place that not only accommodates four-legged companions but genuinely welcomes them. The pub provides a comfortable outdoor seating area where dogs can relax while their owners enjoy a fantastic meal. The staff even went above and beyond to provide fresh water and treats for our furry friends. It's evident that the staff understands the importance of including our beloved pets in our dining experiences. Apart from the incredible food and dog-friendly environment, the service at the Queens Head was exceptional. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They provided helpful recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed to have a memorable time. The attention to detail and genuine care for their guests made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The Queens Head is a true hidden gem. From the delectable food to the dog-friendly atmosphere and the outstanding service, every aspect of this establishment deserves applause. Whether you're looking for a place to enjoy a delicious meal with friends and family or seeking a dog-friendly pub to relax with your furry companion, the Queens head should be at the top of your list. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Took my partner here for the their first time and they were very pleasantly surprised! Beautiful, quaint little pub and wonderful service (I think the waitress/server was new and she did a great job!). Food was very nice but everything was slightly over cooked sadly, I was going to send my fish back as it was quite burnt underneath but it was getting busy by that point and we had the dog at home bless so couldn’t wait but other than that everything was awesome! The crumble at the end wasn’t what I was expecting, more of a deconstructed crumble with a lacking of sauce/compote which would’ve made it!

What a shame. Lovely looking pub in a great location. Such a pity the food is way overpriced. £10.50 for a tiny (no topping) pizza that didn’t fill an 8 year old. Tiny Caprese salad (3 cherry tomatoes and small bit of mozzarella) for £8.50. And the cherry on the cake, fish and chips for £15.50, which consisted of half a fillet of fish and a small portion of miserable chips. Terrible customer service when complaint made. There are plenty of better places to eat. Avoid at all costs.

Went for Sunday roast, slow roast lamb, the lamb was small in portion size, presentation was fantastic, choice of vegetables fantastic, gravy however was very overpowering but flavoursome, but was ruined by the severely undercooked parsnips and carrots, now i like a bit of crunch to my veg but these were at a very raw state, unable to cut the very large chunks of parsnips with the cutlery provided and as these vegetables were plentiful to bulk up the dinner, had to leave them all on our plates, and i love parsnips. Please either prep them smaller or leave the whole parsnips in with the slow roast lamb for a few hours. The beer was great as was the service. Those wanting a traditional sunday roast STAY WELL CLEAR!
