Southwold & Reydon Chinese Take Away in Waveney

We had a takeaway while camping at Pigs in blankets site. The food was excellent, my husband said one of the tastiest Chinese meals has had.

Had a very good Chicken Chinese style and rice delivered last night. Meal was the best I'd had and the delivery driver is excellent, super helpful and friendly.

King Prawn Chow Mein, was super tasty, generous with prawns, and all for £6.70 This was walking distance whilst camping at Pigs in Blankets around the corner. So glad I found this place!

Food was ok but chicken and cashew nuts had no nuts. Chicken was rubbery. Kids enjoyed the chicken fried rice and roast duck friend rice. In summary, it’s ok but not 4/5*. Located in industrial estate but don’t be put off by location. It also does delivery.

Enjoyed the food when on holiday. My son who lives in Leytonstone, London said that he had tried all Chinese Eateries ( other than Dim Sun ) where he lived and considered the food here to be not only of significantly higher quality than those in Leytonstone but on average £3.00 cheaper per main dish.

The food was incredible, good portions, good price, fast service. The food tasted incredible and the spicy food was actually spicy! The prawn crackers were great and so was the crispy duck. All the food was great! Ignore how the buildings exterior looks because the food is lovely!

Very friendly staff. Difficult to find as in an industrial area. Food was very good ,( far too many chips, for me, though). Take cash as credit card machine is temperamental.

Really wasn't sure about the location, but WOW the food was amazing! Travelling around I've had some bad Chinese food, but this was exceptional, I haven't had a fortune cookie for years so that made it even better

We were staying at Southwold Camping site (end of ferry road) in a motorhome and ordered by telephone. I asked for food to be delivered at a certain time (19:30) rather than ASAP and lady said not a problem... Driver would meet me at campsite entrance... Paid by card over the phone... Exactly as promised, restaurant called me at 19:20 to say driver was on his way, and as I was walking to the entrance the driver had driven onto the campsite and met me halfway. Absolutely brilliant!! Food was delicious and plenty of it - would definitely recommend and will certainly be using again when we visit Southwold in the future.

All I have to say is amazing!! Was put off Chinese for a while after our local Chinese’s! But going to this one has changed my mindset completely, I couldn’t stop eating and will defiantly be back!!

Ordered from heathside lodges at 5pm, Wednesday. The delivery only took 45 minutes. The food was absolutely amazing! Plenty of leftovers for what we paid for. Couldn’t fault the food one bit. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great food, quick delivery and good value. There was a bit of confusion over the address but this was quickly resolved, would definitely recommend.

Phoned at 4.30 for 7.30pm delivery,half an hour late, no apology. The food we had prepared to eat with it was spoilt. If you offer a delivery time we would like to have it at the time promised. House special in chilli honey sauce and shredded chilli beef. Beef said spicy, it didn't say it would be totally overpowered by chilli leaving it flavourless and your mouth, lips and tongue numb. I will never use your takeaway again.

Just had a takeaway from here for the first time while staying at heathside lodges in the log cabins for Xmas av to say the food was superb and the delivery driver was so friendly and polite ta very much when we on holiday here again will be ordering from you merry Christmas to you all and thanks again for great food and brilliant delivery driver 👍🏼

As you know, Chinese takeaway in the UK is not so much about WHERE you buy it, but WHO is cooking it. The first time we tried Southwold and Reydon Chinese, we were really impressed, so much so, that we vowed never to go back to any of the other "local" establishments because in comparison they are all sub standard. However the second time we ordered from here it was not as good, still better than the competitors, but just not as good as before, hence the 4 stars. We will be trying again and will ask "who is cooking", that way we may be able to find out when the best cooks are working.

Visiting the area as I am a breakdown recovery driver ..lucky this place was next to a garage I was dropping a broken down car too.. staff very friendly and it was very clean in waiting area..food was hot and absolutely beautiful..I had a house special rice...the sauce/gravy was perfect taste for me ..even obliged me with plastic cutlery so I could eat in lorry ..highly recommend for anyone local or visiting...thanks guys

We bought enough for 4 from the campsite in Southwold, asked for 7.30 delivery, on time to perfection. Such tasty food, great amount, spicy where it needed to be, and wasn't greasy. Really really enjoyed it.

Ordered during the height of the summer season on a Saturday night and our order for a group of six was delivered in Southwold within 45mins! Food arrived lovely and hot and it was absolutely delicious. We had a mixture of dishes including sweet and sour chicken balls, beef, chow mein, lemon chicken, different rices etc and everyone loved it. Great delivery guy too! Highly recommended :D

Phoned at 4.30 for delivery at 6.30, just after 7 I had to phone again to see where it was, was told it's on the way, it finally turned up at 7.30, an hour late, they did refund £5 but literally just wanted the food at the time requested. When we got it, the food was awful, the worst chilli chicken I've ever had, the salt and pepper chips were stone cold, definitely won't be ordering from here again

Its good for your standard Chinese food (which if great for most people). But don't go there if your a veggie or expecting the Thai food on the menu to taste like genuine Thai food, it doesn't !!

Absolutely shocking, food was inedible! 2nd visit food worse than 1st.We visited this Chinese on Friday, the 13th of August, now I appreciate Friday the 13th can be an unlucky day, however, I had no idea it was going to be this unlucky!We ordered sweet-and-sour chicken balls, chicken curry, boiled rice and mini vegetarian spring rolls, The chicken balls were pale in colour soggy huge lumps of batter with tiny pieces of chicken inside them, definitely not value for money.The boiled rice was clumped together I appreciate this often happens with takeaway rice and the chicken curry was awful, It tasted as though it had 4 ounces of sugar just in my own curry portion, it had very little curry flavour and was heavily over powered by Chinese five spice, The most pleasant part of the meal were the mini vegetable spring rolls, hard to do anything wrong with those given they come in frozen!We actually enjoyed the pancake rolls but the rest of the food cooked by this Chinese was utterly vile, I wouldn’t recommend anyone purchase food from here it is not good quality and it’s certainly not good value for money.We used to purchase from this takeaway regularly a few years ago when it was owned by the previous people James Qian and his lovely wife Jenny, in four years of them running it I only ever had to mention an issue with the food once, it was sorted instantly!…….I usually drive over to them in Oulton broad to buy my takeaway as their food is unbeatable, but the traffic was simply too busy today so we decided to go here instead.Never again!!!!!!I wish I could review with zero stars but unfortunately that’s not possible so I’ve begrudgingly given them one star, which I feel is being exceedingly generous!!!!Date of visit: 13th August 2021

We had been recommended this takeaway by the landlord of our B&B in Wangford where we’re staying, over the one in Wrentham. Ironic that last night’s meal from Wrentham gained full marks and this a pathetic zero. The king prawn chop suey consisted of a bunch of prawns in a very watery sweet and sour sauce filled with nothing but bean sprouts. Where was the noodles and the other veg, guys? Just half a dish?The House special fried rice was more like a wet curry, hardly qualifying for the term fried, and it took us some considerable time to work out exactly what it was, leading us to almost reach for the phone claiming the wrong dish had been sent. The Chinese Style chicken was again, just skivers of chicken in a nondescript sauce with nothing else. While being visitors to the area warrants nothing to actually make us bother to report our lousy meal to the restaurant itself, as we are not in danger of being repeat customers, I hope this review will make future customers stop and take note.

Been coming to Southwold on holiday for many years and we didn't realise that this takeaway existed , never had any info left in any of the cottages we stayed in.Found it when we drove on to the industrial estate, not the sort of place you would think to look , not much to look at from the outside but the food is delicious, some of the best we have had.Well worth finding.

I went in to order and they took forever to take my order. When i got home the chicken balls where all doughy and not fully cooked.

Hello. Two weeks ago I ordered horsemans from Reydon, the food was burnt and the meat was as vein as ever, oh! never again, i live in reydon but i will never eat this food from them again

We bought a meal here on a Saturday night in October. Finding the place was fairly difficult as it isn't really signposted in the industrial estate, but being at night it was lit up so stood out when we finally saw it.The organisation of the food orders was in total disarray and the Covid safeness was very low in the building.It was very busy so it took a long time for our order to be ready, which felt even longer as we'd ordered in person and waited outside.We had beef in black bean sauce and sweet & sour chicken balls which were nice.

Looking for a chinese takeaway for our family trip to Southwold led me here.Finding a menu isnt the easiest, but have a dig around on Facebook and you'll find it, then finding the takeaway can be equally as challenging on an industrial estate but fear not, working on both is well worth it.We had the mini spring rolls, a couple of chow mein dishes, 1/2 crispy duck, S&S chicken balls, a couple of rice dishes and a thai red chicken curry. All were really really nice and everyone enjoyed the food.Value-wise it was good too.I'd happily return to this takeaway and recommend it to others.

We order from here about every six weeks and it’s still the best chinese take away we have had anywhere. Gets very busy on wet cold nights when everyone is staying in and sometimes their timings are off but it’s still worth the wait.

Having read some of the reviews, I was slightly nervous. We ordered for 14. It was very good indeed. It was delivered on the dot of the time we requested. It has to be five stars from us as that is no more than they deserved.

We had takeaway from here as a holiday treat. The duck pancakes came without plum sauce or cucumber and spring onion, just duck and pancakes so very dry. The chicken skewers in the mixed starter had no satay sauce. The beef dish i thought i had ordered was actually chicken when we served up. The kids enjoyed it but myself amd husband were not impressed.

Wow!! After a long walk to Dunwich, the weather turned. We ordered Thai green king prawn curry. It was delivered to the campsite hot and very very tasty!! Brilliant food and delivery . Thankyou Southwold and Reydon Chinese.

Decided to use them while staying at a Reydon holiday cottage. Very impressed! Easy to order by phone,helpful friendly staff,and arrived promptly. Meal was superb! Will definitely use them next time we are in the Southwold area. Highly recommended.

Food is amazing..... I've been coming here for the last 20 years and won't use anything else.... The crispy beef is out of this world and the salt and pepper chicken is beautiful..... Couldn't fault it and now have some amazingly friendly staff

Ordered twice from the Southwold and Reydon Chinese takeaway whilst staying in a holiday cottage in Southwold with the usual less than adequate cooking facilities. Ordering easy, delivery quick and food, in my opinion, excellent. Being based on an industrial estate this is admittedly quite a bit different from ones usual idea of a takeaway but it works and the true test is in the eating. Gone forever are the days it seems when Southwold had its own Chinese takeaway (and an Indian for that matter) being replaced by the trendy branded clothes shops!

Possibly the best Chinese take away I have ever had. I only use possibly as I'm nearly 50 and may have forgotten earlier great meals. Definitely the best Chinese take away I have had in the last twenty years. I ordered for 5 people, and asked for it to be delivered to Southworld .....was told it may take up to an hour, which was fine. Twenty-five minutes later the most devine food arrived food arrived. Not that horrible over oilled food you sometimes get. Can't recommend enough.

We holidayed in a lovely cottage in Reydon last week and due to the current situation with social distancing and restrictions in restaurants and pubs used them twice. Once was a telephone order for collection and once was a telephone order we had delivered, both were dealt with highly efficiently.Excellent food, good value for money and a great service. I would highly recommend.

We ordered over the phone and asked for delivery to our holiday cottage. Both the lady on the phone and the delivery driver were incredibly helpful and it was delivered to our door within 20 minutes. And it was delicious! Would thoroughly recommend.

Good food, but long delays at weekends

Speedy delivery and good portions, but a lack of vegetarian options and meat dishes were bland

Having spent £115 we tested much of the menu and where very happy about the quality. The delivery was also made ten minutes before the 45 mins suggested so we where happy all round

Informed by the site that they would deliver, I was still uncertain whether we would need to meet at the gate, but in fact they delivered to the lodge. Food was good and still very hot. We will be ordering again later in the week.

Lovely food and a surprisingly nice waiting room

Nice and fresh, was in the area as I was going to a funeral but would go again if I visit the area again...

After our BBQ took too long to warm up we decided to cut our loses and order a takeaway. We ordered off the menu put thru our door and after an hour I called to ask how long. 20 mins later and after some apologies it turned up. The food came with clear plastic lids so u see what's in each tub. As we were eating we were all quiet until someone said "this is the best chinese takeaway I've ever had"We all agreed, clean, tasty, colourful, non greasy, delicious food, well presented and worth the wait. It was so good that I called them after and told them so. Just hope it continues because we will definitely order again.

Last Friday we ordered home delivery. Advised would be 30to45min. Which isn't a problem. After and 1hr 20min contacted to ask where the food is? Without an apology was straight up accused of giving the incorrect delivery address...."well actually you told me my address as it is linked to my phone number"from when I have ordered in the past. The manager kept me on the line for a good ten minutes, for me to hear in the background that my order 'must have been when you turned the thing off', me assuming the ticket machine. I asked for my order to be delivered and due to being extremely late a refund also. The manager added to the insult saying will offer free prawn crackers only, not anything off the meal...Now an hour and a half after I ordered I reiterated this issue wasn't my fault, payment from my card was taken and no food was delivered. After shouts from the kitchen the manager just agreed (which I took it as) and hung the phone up. My partner also phoned to follow the complaint up, once again was hung up on....Almost 2hrs after the original order a delivery driver turned up with no food, just the refund. This is now 920pm no where else is open! So if you would like your evening destroyed due no food and a rude unapologetic manager,then by all means order from Southwold & Reydon chinese!

My husband and I were staying in Southwold and decided to order a meal from here and have it delivered. The food was beautiful and it only took around 25 mins from ordering to delivery, we will be having another one before going home.

Great variety on the menu, some unusual dishes and Thai options. Delivery was quick and food tasty. .

Had curry which was a bit powdery and not best tasting but was okay. Chicken balls were generous but not crispy. Overpriced compared to others in the area. Recommend using the one in Wrentham down the road instead as cheaper and much nicer.

We come to southwold on holiday every year and throughly look forward to getting a Chinese from here, it gets delivered within 15 mins of ordering and the food is the best I’ve had!

Just had one of the best Chinese takeaway for years

We used their delivery service, they quoted 30 minutes and delivered in 20 mins. Food was well cooked and very tasty. It was the equal of our favourite Chinese at home.

Me and a friend ordered food on separate orders, both orders were served quickly and efficiently and were lovely and hot. Food was fresh and couldn't complain about the taste or quality. Staff that were taking orders and serving were very happy and polite and the place had a real Chinese feel about it. Well worth a visit as it isn't far from the sea front and is a reasonably priced alternative to the usual fish and chips!

Just spent an enjoyable long weekend in Southwold and the takeaway was recommended. Ordered a wide range of dishes including sweet and sour prawn balls, Szechuan chicken, crispy beef, spring rolls and a range of rices. The order was delivered on time, excellent value and reasonably priced.

This is such a hand addition to the eateries in Southwold. It offers a cheap (ish) alternative to eating out. Food is good, and the service is next to none!

We pre-ordered for 20 people, Food was delivered bang on time, helpings were generous and the food was fantastic. HIghly recommended!

Food is always quick and yummy and staff are always polite when delivering. Prices are fair but I wish they did more choice for desserts as fitters don't do it for many people I don't think.

A very reasonable and varied menu, prices not at all bad, and delivered to your door for free. Portion sizes good and the food delivered hot and at the time stated. The food was very nice and to the same quality as you would expect in a restaurant. Worth trying and will use it again.

Had a take away after a theatre visit. Strange to find this takeaway in an industrial unit! However pleasantly surprised, the service was pretty quick despite it being quite busy. (7.30pm). The food was good, tasty, hot and average price for Chinese takeaway. We had special fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls- the meat was very tender and we really enjoyed it. Took it to the sea front at Southwold to eat it, lovely end to the evening.

Struggled to find a decent Chinese take out since our local one fell under new management and had some serious health and hygiene problems. We have to drive to get it as they don't deliver as we are a little out of the way. Staff are always very friendly. Quick to cook, usually in and out in 15mins. Fantastic selection of dishes. Highly recommend the smoked chicken.

Since the new management took over, we have used this take-away regularly. It is greatly improved with fresh vegetables, good quality meat, fish, herbs and spices. The staff are friendly and happy to accommodate individual tastes and dietary requirements. There can be a bit of a wait at their busy times, Fri/Sat nights. Order earlier. We'll be back.
