Wrentham Chinese Take Away in Waveney

We had a family weekend in Southwold and decided to order a meal for delivery. Paid over the phone and delivered on time. Food was very good and lots of it. Recommended.

Big menu, good fresh ingredients and good chunks of chicken and meat. We also appreciated that the chinese sauces were not too overpowering

Very good Chinese take away food, no skimping on portion size just really good tasty Chinese food. It’s a yes from me. Very good large sweet and sour pork balls not mince like at some outlets. Everything we had was great.

Amazing menu going far beyond standard Chinese. Portions were really generous and we somewhat over ordered simply because we wanted to try a few more dishes. The service was polite over the phone and when picking up. Lots of choices for all tastes...i liked having choice of several tofu and lots of fish dishes. My other half really enjoyed the duck with plum sause and beef pad thai. Would definitely recommend and return when in the area.

Ordered from this takeaway on the 24th of August 2021, wasn’t expecting too much in respect of quality however, The food was really nice, we ordered chicken balls, egg fried rice, chicken chow mein and mini vegetable spring rolls, it was all lovely very fresh and the chicken balls had proper lumps of chicken breast in them, it was a fantastic ratio of chicken to batter all topped with a lovely curry sauce that just finished the meal off. Not sure what it’s like inside the building as we ordered for home delivery but the young man on the desk appeared very pleasant on the phone and happy to take our order.

Food average at best, not sure what the hype is all about. Makes you wonder where else the Tripadviser reviewers eat if they rant on about this place. We had beef chow meain which the beef tasted so dry it was like barbequed cardboard and a chicken dish my wife had was swimming in what can only be described as dirty dishwater. To add insult to injury, the young lad on the till needs a lesson in customer serviced as he looked like a typical moody teenager. And lastly, the impressions of this takeaway from outside are a lot to be desired. Weeds all over the steps at the front, absolutely covered in them so goodness knows what their kitchen is like. By having a clean entrance says a lot to be desired, will not return.

Staying at a local pub we were let down regarding eating there one evening. A blessing in disguise as we ordered takeway to be delivered to us (rainy night). Hot and sour soup was tasty and generous; sea spicy chicken was indeed spicy (with quite a lot of aubergine in it) and the thai beef dish was tasty (I will ask for extra chillis next time). Good food with good service. Unreservedly recommended.

I'm not going to bore you with details, the title says it all. We got about 10 different dishes and all were outstanding, pricing about the same as we pay at our local. EAT HERE!!

While on holiday, we decided to give this place a try as fancied a lazy night. We ordered a jungle curry, chow mein and half a crispy duck. The food was excellent, and I was very happy with the chow mein as sometimes they can be not as expected. I would throughly recommend this place.

Really enjoyed the vegetarian food from the main menu here , Mushroom foo yeung mixed veg Chow mein chips, and spring rolls, also mixed veg curry. All tastesd very fresh and delicious. A great experience.

We ordered some food to be delivered to the mobile home we were using at the back of the five bells pub, they rang us up when they were in the car park with our food. The food was well cooked and very tasty and quite hot.

This is the first time I’ve ordered food from this Chinese as knew I would be driving past on way to friends. I ordered the Chinese for 7.10pm. When I got there it was very very busy, every seat was taken. I had to wait 10 minutes for food. The Chinese was the best I’ve tried for ages, loads of flavour and not greasy. You get free prawn crackers too.

We’re staying local for a few days and found this lovely chinese takeaway. Food was delicious! Really tasty! Generous portion sizes too! Would definitely recommend!

Very good Chinese takeaway and think probably best in the area as we tried another and checked reviews. Chicken balls and sauce were excellent as was the egg fried rice. Rest was very good although wasn’t the best chowmein. Very reasonably priced.

This is our fourth time in Southwold and we always have a meal from here - usually we pick it up but this time we had it delivered due to their new delivery service. As always it was excellent. The sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style was delicious!

Didn't quite get what i'd ordered. Food seemed to be lacking in spices very bland. Plentiful enough though and we didn't have to wait long for take away.

When staying in Kessingland, we ordered from Wrentham Chinese take-aways as we had seen mixed reviews of others, and we were not disappointed.

Wow what can we say. Our 3rd year of ordering from them when staying at field farm fisheries. Not once have we been disappointed with choices of food, taste and price. Fast friendly service and sad to not live nearer to be able to order more frequently. Love it

On holiday in Southwold, we decided to have a takeaway this evening. We had homemade vegetable roll, chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, all of which was excellent. Delivery was well within the 1 hour timeframe and piping hot (unusual) when it arrived.

I never have any complaints with the food and delivery service is always polite and never late. Always piping hot. Give them a try you won't be disappointed

Second time visiting this establishment. Being a vegetarian often choice can be limited. Not here! Excellent choice of Tofu dishes along with a number of extras. A meal for two came to just under £24 and included three main dishes, rice and noodles. Taste was great, and not a drop of oil in sight. Also no evidence of MSG. Will definitely use again when in the area. Although a take away the inside of the premises is restaurant-esque in nature, with ornate carvings and fixtures in the waiting area.

Consistently good food and a fine choice of high-quality Chinese foods served promptly, well spiced and seasoned and all at reasonable prices.

Ordered Chinese last night. Was delivered 15 mins later.. chips tasted like they had been from day before. Boiled rice was 1 big lump. I had it from here week before and was lovely. Don't know what was going on last night but it was rank. Put me off coming back.

Wow, superb. We live in reydon and have tried many of the local Chinese takeaways but wrentham is consistently the best by far. The food is fresh, with quality meat and fresh vegetables. Very easy to order and delivered hot to your door. Keep up the great work wrentham.

First time we have used this takeaway after a friend recommended it. Very impressed! Although we live 5 miles away delivery was very reasonably priced at £1.50. The food was tasty, well cooked and hot. The best Chinese meal we have had in years. Thank you.

Called up for the take away, no problem, great service, ordered easily and quickly over the phone and half an hour later it was on the doorstep with a smile. Great tasting Chinese, not greasy like some, huge variety - everything you need for an evening out at home. Recommended most highly.

Visited this place after reading a number of positive reviews on Tripadvisor. Being a vegetarian it is often difficult to get good food that isnt full of msg or which has been thrown together. However, this place was indeed a pleasant surprise indeed. Lovely decor, welcoming staff with only a short wait for the food. Menu was extensive and there was a huge range for people who dont eat meat or fish. Portion size was adequate, but the food itself was delicious with a huge range of flavour and texture. We live in South Wales, so its a bit far for a takeaway! But will certainly revisit when next in the Southwold area.

I worked for these guys for close to 3 years (under 2 owners) and have been a customer during and after my employment. They really are a great family who genuinely care about customer satisfaction and I was always amazed how hard they worked for hours every day on prep. Recommend the Singapore chow Mein especially .

Even though I live in Pakefield this is my no.1 destination for a takeaway. Chicken balls and chicken breast in black bean sauce are our favourites. We love everything they do. Fast service too..

Realmente no puedo entender por qué este sitio no tiene muchas críticas. Vivimos en Reydon y esta es nuestra opción de comida para llevar. Tienen un amplio menú y la comida es siempre recién hechas y las verduras frescas son super. Normalmente recogida pero puede ser entregado. Nuestra comida está siempre listo a tiempo. Recomendaría este lugar a otros locales de tiendas.

Wwe tried the chinese whilst staying at the Old Reading Rooms. The food is good and plentiful. Staff are very pleasant. Would recommend as value for money and tasty

Me detuve para conseguir comida para llevar china como fue siempre tan grasienta y altamente color pero nunca es chino Wrentham como este. Los jóvenes en el mostrador son siempre tan amable, educado, servicial y dispuesto a complacer. Un placer hacer negocios con todo.

We probably get a takeaway monthly from here and have to say it's excellent. So good that I drive from Pakefield. Chicken breast in black bean sauce is excellent. Wish they would deliver to Pakefield..

Ordered food for 6 people off full menu. Delivered 15 mins later than I expected but was definitely worth waiting for. Everything hot and delicious. I often find a limited choice for vegetarians on takeaway menus and land up with yucky fried bean curd and bland stir fried veg. Not so here! Spoilt for choice and soo tasty! Everyone else's food was great too. Yummy and plenty of it.

De este restaurante chino pidió ya que nos quedamos en el pueblo y no quieres cocinar esa noche. Una de las mejores comidas chinas que he tenido en mucho tiempo, no grasienta, fideos de sabores, pelotas de pollo no grasosa, sabrosos platos de pollo nad bien preparado. Y entregados en buen tiempo con una gran sonrisa. No puedo pedir más!

used to love their food, i am a lover of Chinese and eat it wherever I go here and abroad, was always grateful that our local was so good, both last 2 meals I have not felt very well the next day may be monsodium glutimate I don't know but I always thought they did not use it so this may be quite a new change because I have never had a reaction in the 8 years they have been there, now the rice is always stuck together and dry, other dishes are dry or overcooked and the chicken pieces in the chicken dishes seem to be slices which when fried take on a rubbery consistency. Much as it saddens me to say this the standard of a lot of the dishes is not what it was. I know this is a family business and I think a lot of these problems are in their busy times so maybe they need extra help at the most busiest periods. I would like to say one of the best as did a previous reviewer, when that review was left in 2013 I would have agreed but not now. They need to get back up to their former glory - sorry but that's how I feel, it's a shame.

Fab meal delivered to our holiday park in Kessingland. We ordered for 12 of us and it all arrived hot and all order was there. Will order again when we stay at park.

I ordered some Chinese food from this takeaway yesterday and when It arrived the food was cold one of the dishes tasted burnt so I can say definitely I will not be ordering from there anymore and that they always say it will take 30 to 40 minutes but it took over a hour

We have been using this takeaway for over ten years, and the food is excellent. Hairs in the food (as per some other reviewer?), absolutely never. We have eaten at other Becck

All our food had black hairs in which me and my partner was horrified with, after taking food back to them to show the hairs they only offered half the money back!!!! And was very rude to us! Our chicken satay was just pure fat! Am very angry will never eat from there again and will never recommend! Please all check your food, even there fish in the tank was starving they were trying to eat the stone in the bottom of the tank for 45 minutes whilst we were waiting for our food!

This is not my local Chinese, but not too far away either. My family and I have used this takeaway many times over the years and it is simply the best Chinese around. There are plenty of menu options to tantalise no matter what mood your in. The food is always extremely tasty. The dishes that state hot, do seem to be well judged and provide a lovely heat to the dishes. My personal favourites are the smoked chicken and the crispy salt and chilli beef. Expect a bit of a wait on deliveries at peak times as they can get quite busy (1hour)

A great place to get takeaway chinese food! The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was great! We placed the order at the register and only had to wait about 10 minutes! Definitely would recommend it to anyone!

We are in the area on holiday and whilst we have a good chinese locally (a number of people who have come over for chinese have said it's significantly better than their local) this is in another league. Simply walk past when they are open and the smell will tell you all you need to know. I've never had duck chow mein before but this was amazing. We will be eating from here again whilst on holiday

This is a Chinese takeaway restaurant and does not have dine in facilities. However we ordered a special set meal for delivery to our home in Kessingland. Delivery was £1.50 and we were told it would take 40 minutes. The meal was delivered as quoted just within the 40 minutes. All parts of the meal were hot. The meal consisted of 3 main meals, spare ribs, and fried rice together with prawn crackers. These were all of excellent quality and large portions. Cost was less than £24.
