Lovely pub in a traditional style with a modern twist, with a great atmosphere in the heart of Peterborough.

Great value lunch time pizza and drink £6. Celebrating a friend's birthday in a reserved area of the pub.

City centre pub with great view of St John's and the Cathedral. The beer was well kept and the service was friendly.

Really wanted to like this place when we stopped here for lunch but the food we had just wasn't up to scratch. If you see my other reviews I'm a big fan of chicken wings and will usually always order them if I'm a menu. My wife also likes them so we decided to get the sharer portion of Korean wings. I'm not sure who the chef is here but these were not in any way shape or form Korean flavoured. If I remember correctly they were advertised as having Gochujang sauce. The wings themselves were completely bland,.had been cooked in the oven clearly without any seasoning so they looked pale (and even though they weren't) uncooked which was off putting. The sauce was more like a sweet and sour sauce from a bottle. Prob Encona. Not nice at all due to the texture. For comparison I took a picture of the wings as advertised Vs what we got (see pics) it's really not difficult to make appetising wings these days especially if you have an air fryer / deep fat fryer. The rest of the food we ordered (truffle tater tots and beef tortilla) was ok but nothing great to be honest. It seems like the pizza here might be the way to go as other diners had ordered those but who knows. It's a nice venue and staff were friendly but there are issues in the kitchen here for sure. Sadly don't recommend

We arrived slightly early for a booking made for 5pm. Thankfully it was quiet inside, as a table had not been set aside for us anyway. The young lady behind the bar was using her mobile phone when we approached the bar. After serving us, she was straight back on her phone looking for dates/destinations for tickets. A gentleman asked to order food, and was told the kitchen wasn’t open for another 30mins. It was 4:30pm. Several tables were covered in crumbs, and sticky wet marks from drinks. Again the 2 staff were checking their phones and chatting about their social life. I appreciate it’s nice to have a quiet few minutes but they were only serving 9, people inside. There is no pride in the establishment at all anymore. Surely a few minutes could be spent wiping down tables. The floor was also covered in crumbs. A little sweep every now and then would fill the customer with a little faith. No surprise then when a customer pointed out a large rat, which was in the courtyard, entered the pub and went back in the courtyard . The 2 staff came out from behind the bar and just stared at where the rat had been seen. I suggested closing the door to the courtyard would be a start. We left shortly afterwards. The establishment is supposed to look shabby chic. Unfortunately now it is just shabby and dirty. The toilets need a good clean. Empty soap dispenser. The 2/5 rating is given because the pizza was great.

Used to love the pub. Had some females really aggressive towards our table, we asked security to come and sort it out and we had been kicked out! We were minding our business where some drunk girls had a go on our table and it was us who were asked to move. So disappointed as security chose easy way to deal with situation as we had no intentions to argue. Like i said i used to love the place but i would not come back

Very rough and dirty pub. Took my parents and children here last week but left immediately due to the amount of drunks on a Wednesday afternoon. Definitely not somewhere to bring children or my elderly parents for that matter! Sent an email with feedback and not even a reply or apology from the establishment. Shocking service

£10 for a mac and cheese which tasted like cardboard, I wouldn’t even feed it my dog. Hard and chewy pasta with tasteless cheese, followed by a flat Coca Cola.

Didn’t eat but came for drinks, was on my own but people spoke to me and were very friendly bar staff were great too, will def be back

Great pub. In the middle of a busy town centre, yet it feels like a tradional British pub. Food is great. Pizzas are great cooked in their pizza oven. Regularly has live music.

It was my first time here, and it was a pleasure. The aesthetic is brilliant with a lovely vibe. The staff are friendly and the food & cocktails were ace. I recommend a visit if you're in the area.

I came into this bar to watch the Tyson fury fight and found a table just by door that wasn’t reserved so sat there, I’d been there for about 2 and half hours buying drinks the whole time before a young girl that works there told me I had to move as the table was booked even though nothing on the table at all. I got up and left but am very angry how I was treated this girl spoke to me with little respect. I will never come back to this place so if that was your goal well done.

I've been in a couple of times to see bands on a Saturday and like the place. A decent beer selection and food( not ate there yet) and good acoustics for the bands!

I hate to use the expression 'hidden gem,' but this place is definitely one. It's shabby chic, which is used as a compliment. Great host, atmosphere, and choice of beers for the discerning. The music during the afternoon session was a perfect match. Menu looks great. Definitely going to be a regular haunt.

Blissfully peaceful and such a humble establishment that gives a unique character to a part of the town centre that is simply crying out for Character, personality and dare I say, heritage. Lovely staff, great beer and selection of drinks, great food with quality ingredients and certainly a place that I will visit again and soon. NEXT VISIT: Yet again, amazing. I had brought my kids this time and as a single parent, I was somewhat anxious, to which the young lady behind the bar was just amazing 👏, eloquent and certainly something profoundly captivating as she was reading the late Autobiography by Matthew Perry, a book which was not only captivating, but I was somewhat inspired also. We enjoyed a lovely selection of drinks and then when their amazing chef arrived, THE FOOD... My god, this gentleman not only makes the most amazing food, it's also where his 'homely' signature is portrayed within it also, to which my children were simply in awe, they could not stop saying thank you and don't get me wrong, I can cook lol, but this chef is something else. The best, fulfilling, wholesome, family food that we have enjoyed, by far! Peterborough, Stamford and surrounding areas, this chef and the captivating member of bar staff, just wow. Best place in Peterborough to vist for a nice pint and amazing food, by far. 👏

I'm beginning to think there's a few people in Peterborough who want to keep things secret... I've never even really noticed this pub and from the front you wouldn't think much of it, looks small but when you go inside it opens up into a whole different world lol I was very surprised, I feel like it's a kept secret lol Peterborough shouldn't have nice pubs like that... 😉

Booked a table for 12.15pm (they open at 12pm). They could see us waiting outside for ten mins and didn't explain why not opened. Had to go elsewhere as to cold to wait any longer.

Booked ahead for my son's birthday, so that he could share a meal with friends. Confirmed the booking the day before, travelled to the location 5 minutes before we were due and the whole place was closed. Looked in the window and could see the chef looking back at me from the kitchen, didn't bother to come out and speak to me, or give me any details about why the whole place was fully closed. No call after from anyone to explain why and my son was absolutely gutted. Really disappointed as it a totally wasted trip into town which cost me my car parking, and for no reason as completely shut!!

Decent booze. Authentic Italian pizza

This was our first visit and I wanted to give 5 stars but it took nearly an hour for food to arrive. The food was excellent and the atmosphere really friendly and we will come back.

It was very rowdy in there on Friday night. I didn't feel relax

A bad experience. Was in there having drinks with friends and went to close an internal door to stop a draught. The two doormen decided that I couldn’t close it and when I asked why, they manhandled me out the pub. I obviously objected and informed them they are not allowed to do this and tried to capture their faces on my phone. They tried to grab my phone from me and when I reacted in trying to stop them, I was thrown to the ground and punched. My lip was badly cut and there was blood everywhere. The landlord or barman told me to leave but as I was mot in the pub I didn’t need to move anyway. I called the police to report both individuals but as yet, no idea as to what is happening They will tell a different story but please be aware that the door staff take no prisoners. A friendly warning to anyone wishing to use this pub in the evening

Great pizza! Fantastic dough! Was there to watch the rugby but sadly no commentary available so moved onto somewhere else at half time.

A very quirky and fun pub. Lots of thought put into the decore. We went for food. Most of my group had pizza which went down really well. I had a couple of salad sides and chicken wings. The salad sides were a great surprise, well balanced flavours, and good sizes for sides. The chicken wings were OK, the meat tasted a bit like it had been frozen for too long. Staff were friendly. The chief was extremely careful with gluten free food and even took the time to check I wasn't eating what wide ordered, which was not gluten free.

This was my go-to pub for food during my 9-day visit to Peterborough. Especially the 3 small dishes for UKP 15 turned out to be excellent value. I had them three times, exhausting around half of the options available. My favourite was the burrata with white beans salad, which I ordered on all three occasions. Lovely. The other two I changed with each order: small tacos with pulled pork and mushrooms, respectively, and all three available versions of tater tots (with pulled meat, Buffalo sauce and chicken - my favourite - and mozzarella and hard cheese). Always well-prepared, always delivered in good time. The best value food on offer if you're really hungry. The pub itself is a rustic traditional establishment, with nice seating inside and out. 4 cask ales available (most times), of which I often chose Adnams Ghost Ship. More beers and lagers are available on keg. Service was friendly and efficient. It's a popular pub with locals, but I always found a seat in the outside area, which looks out to the Guildhall and Cathedral Square. Really good option for superior pub food in Peterborough.

Only went for drinks so can't comment on the food but it was a nice vibe and good outdoor seating so you could hear each other even on a Saturday night! Also, certain drinks seem surprisingly cheap which is a bonus! Pretty fast to get served, busy inside, but calm enough at the tables outside. Not bad!

Delicious Pizza! Cooked in a real oven which gives it that stone baked taste. Went for the incredible value lunch time deal at £8 for a pizza and a pint!

I mentioned to the bar prince 1, 7, 14, 3 man that I had multiple allergies to medication and drugs along with issues with pizza ingredients before ordering my lasagne. As an ex reporter for the travel trade magazine mystery shopper award, I was left very disappointed with the food. The wine and water were ok, very pallitable and good quality but the pizza chef put a mystery ingredient into the lasagne which caused severe arthritis pain and high heart rate and dizziness along with lack of coordination and cognitive impairment. The taste of the slow cooked beef reminded me of homemade pie and seemed good when eating but within 15 minutes felt unwell. I didn't expect this from such a royal name establishment. I very much doubt I will be returning to this place in the future, along with Naples hotels. Chefs need to be more aware of issues with multiple medication syndrome. Having had to take time off work for the same issues, and suffered since 1971 as an 18 month old, along with PTSD from issues as a toddler, staff need more training on the possible adverse reactions to staff having drugs on their hands and fingers and lack of hand washing. I felt the music was slightly hostile and not very welcoming and suggesting people should get high, even if customers know they are allergic to several drugs and medication. Its a shame. I feel this could be a good pub if it was more ethical.

Amazing little gem! Have some fantastic lunch offers on and 2-4-1 pizzas every Monday too! Live music is brilliant on a Friday and the DJ is great for a little Saturday night boogie! Staff are always lovely and welcoming!

Lovely atmosphere, gabby went the extra mile to make us feel extra special and had a really nice evening, the pizzas are good and loved the music, Mollie was also very attentive and made us feel welcome, will be sure to come back again soon!

Lovely little pub in the middle of city centre, come here all the time with family. Really good offer on the food for Mondays, 2-4-1 pizzas!! They always go down a treat. Staff are always happy and welcoming.

There was NO real ale available on a Friday night. For a pub owned and run by a brewery this is shocking. To say “we’ve run out” is a lazy excuse. DO BETTER!

Nice pub and great food. Stopped here for lunch as I was in town at the nearby passport office. Food, staff and atmosphere were all great. Ignore all those chain restaurants and come here for a great lunch!

Both our pint glasses were dirty. There was no soap in the despensers in the gents. Downstairs t smelled bad. The girl behind the bar was playing on her phone at lunchtime on a day in the school holidays. She could have been cleaning pint glasses, filling soap dispensers or doing any number of other tasks. But the place was almost empty when there was loads of footfall outside and inside the building is wonderful-this pub could be a goldmine. We were too grossed out to order pizza and went elsewhere.

Had an absolutely fantastic meal tonight. New menu is most definitely worth a try. Highly recommended.

Absolutely gorgeous place and staff to boot. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. They know their stuff. The pizzas are to die for. The toilets are clean. Popped in when there was live music and a pleasant even guaranteed.

Trendy chain pub, not my sort of place but you may love it.

I don’t really give 5s, as I think there’s always room for improvement. However, we had our 2 girls and a baby with us, we’re tired from walking round, and this little gem is right outside the shopping centre. Me and the kids had buy one get one free pizza, which was cooked behind the bar, and was absolutely delicious. My misses had pork belly bites, and ate every mouthful. We also had two bowls of potatoes bites with drinks for £34. The staff were very friendly, and the music was great. All in all could nt fault it. Thanks guys, we will be back.

Absolutely fabulous pizzas, the shroom one was so tasty with the garlic mushrooms and the tater tots are a firm favourite. Lovely staff and relaxed atmosphere
