Food was great and there was a nice selection of real ales. Pub has been nicely done out inside. I had the lasagne followed by cheesecake and portions were generous.

The Thai night was advertised. We booked in, the food was amazing. Proper authentic food by a lovely lady from Thailand, we think. I would definitely eat here again

First visit for eight years and there have been several changes and improvements, moving the bar, crating a larger space and modern lavatories. We came to meet a friend and ran into others. Well kept Bass, Thatchers etc. Good lunch, 2 chicken curries and a meat lasagne - all tasty, and then a generous treacle tart with a dollop of clotted cream. Good value all round. Just what you’d hope for in a village pub. We’ll be back.

We went out for a walk and decided to stop in for a drink, not having been here for a number of years we were so pleasantly surprised, since our last visit the pub has had a make-over it is now light and airy proper country pub decor. The landlord was great very welcoming. The menu looks very tasty and the specials even more so. We will definitely be going back to sample the food. If you live in the area go pay a visit if you don't live close also go pay a visit. A true pub that serves food not a restaurant with a bar. BZ's

We enjoyed an exceptional Sunday roast beef which was very hot, tender with potatoes, swede, carrots, cabbage Yorkshire pudding, horseradish sauce with a jug of extra gravy. A small old fashioned country pub with a nice atmosphere. Thank you

This is a great place tfor Sunday lunch and weekly lunch. The landlord is very friendly and the clientele very nice. A good basic pub with lovely food and service. Great as walking distance from home

Terrific pub - a proper English pub, the kind Weatherspoon’s try so hard to emulate but never do. The exterior is a little untidy right now but the interior is newly refurb’d and looks great - ignore the pics on here, they must be how it ‘used’ to look. Not a large pub, and busy around the bar, but we had a table looked and the food was delicious! Really good portions & super tasty, home cooked. We had dessert too and the portions were again fantastic. Excellent value for money. The barman remembered our drinks order too, very impressed. Highly recommend for a Cornwall village pub pint & meal 👍

Off the beaten track village pub. Not much to look at from the outside but a typical village pub inside. Clean and neat and tidy. Very inviting. We’d booked a table and it was all ready for us. This is a pub that that serves food but also is an old fashioned drinking establishment. The food was delicious and lots on the plate. We were all delighted with our orders. The staff were friendly and looked after us well. They have a disabled toilet which is great for the less mobile.

Amazing food and amazing staff, one off the best places to eat couldnt recommend it highly enough. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Always a warm welcome and a true Cornish pub. Absoloutly fantastic. Keep up the good work.

I can Highly recommend the food, just like home cooking. Cod and chips are excellent and if you are a steak lover then you will enjoy the ones cooked here with all the trimmings. Gammon is another good choice. As you can tell I have been back a few times to sample the menu. The interior has undergone a completely redesign and upgrade , new bar lay out and a superb wood burner that gives a lovely cosy atmosphere. Since my first review of this pub back in 2013, it has had a new owner, what a change, friendly atmosphere, good food, nice traditional English pub.

Done sunday lunch a few times in previous weeks and its the closest to home cooking i have ever had. Staff are brilliant, friendly and so quick serving. Wonderful place.

If you are looking for a posh gastro restaurant with fancy fine dinning, look elsewhere. If however you are after a very friendly local pub, with a warm welcome, offering excellent fresh home cooked food, then this is absolutely the place to go. The whole pub is in the process of being renovated, so the bar area is a little dated and still to be worked on, however the toilets have already been updated to a high standard and are modern and clean. The food is fantastic, we dined there 3 times and tried several different dishes, with every meal being very tasty.

Whether you want a fantastic Sunday lunch or just a few beers, you will always recieve a warm welcome. The fish pie is highly recomended. If going on a Sunday for lunch be sure to book in advance as it is very popular.

Very rural and very basic village pub with no sign of any renovation or decoration for years but nice to find a proper unspoiled village local. A couple of ales on offer and outside area for smokers. Limited opening hours but very good reviews of the food which I must come back to sample

Super Sunday lunch. This pub has character and the publican is very professional. The meals are fantastic and if you still have room for a pud then they certainly don't disappoint. We are local thank goodness and will be back on a regular basis. Best to ring and book as it isn't a big pub.

We stopped in this pub recently, as we were passing through the village. We were on our way back from a family visit of Calstock. This is a lovely old school pub. It fits the village really well. The pub was busy, which was nice to see. As I walked in to order our drinks, I felt very welcomed and invited. The pub isn’t much to look at, however it felt so friendly and easy going. It seemed a perfect place for a pint. Once I ordered the drinks at the bar, I took them outside to sit on the outside bench with my family. It was a nice day and wanted to make the most of the warmer, dryer weather. The only issue we had was there was a horrible smell in the street. The smell seemed to be coming from the drains. It wasn’t to pleasant. However we didn’t let it ruin our visit. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and we left. This is a pub we will definitely visit again. As I took the glasses in, there was a few people eating food. The food smelt fantastic and looked good. I didn’t see the menu, however next time I will definitely look. If you are looking for a friendly, local, easy going, happy pub, then this is the place for you.

Absolutely superb local pub. Currently being refurbished by the landlord. Extremely friendly staff and superb, superb food, the lasagna is not to be missed.

The decor of the pub is a little dated but please don’t let this put you off. We were staying nearby on a family holiday but didn’t visit until our last night. The food was great, the staff and locals really friendly and the prices very reasonable, particularly so considering what we had paid at other places. I had mushroom stroganoff which was on the specials board, really nice. Just sorry it took us until our last night to discover this place.

Met three friends for Sunday lunch,all had the roast beef, I have to say it was the tastiest that I have had in a long time, the beef was so tender , vegetables were cooked just the way I like and the roast potatoes, well freshly cooked , all good . This pub is undergoing gradual refurbishment, Tony and Glynis are excellent hosts and look after you really well. Booking is advisable, do give it a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Decided to have a look as we’re moving to the area. Went also because of the reviews and we were not disappointed. Very friendly welcome and delicious lunch. Vegetarian menu had good selection and my husband was really pleased with his food. My lamb shank was very good.

Like stepping back in time. The lovely couple who have just taken this pub on are clear about it being a work in progress. But what’s to change? They’ve cleaned it, the drinks and service are excellent and the homemade pies are fantastic. Yes the decor is a bit of shock when you first walk in because it could easily be from a film set from the 1960s if not older.There’s a lovely if not challenging walk from the Tamar from Newbridge. It makes that pint on arrival all the better xx

Ok on first appearance the place does look a little worse for wear but it is a working progress. Lovely warm welcome from Sarah and our dog was also welcomed with some doggy treats and water always available. We ordered food and was genuinely absolutely lovely, easily the best honest pub grub we’ve had and generous portions too! And value for money is excellent too! Our food & drinks total was approximately half where we’ve eaten before in the area! Chef Sarah does a great job. Yes that’s 2 Sarah’s and then another as my wife is also called Sarah so I was well and truly outnumbered hahaha. Just for a comparison, Two drinks each, two main coarse meals and two deserts was under £30! Definitely be returning!

Decided to try our local after hearing good things about the food. We were a bit hesitant as we knew this pub and the shabby chic look wasn’t inviting. However, new people have come in,and my word, they are working hard to bring it up to standard, starting with the food. They have a set menu with a good range from lamb shanks to lovely vegetarian dishes, and a specials board again with a good choice. It was clean, the landlord very approachable, the cook efficient and everything cooked well. The actual fabric of the place needs updating, this all takes time,effort and money, but the atmosphere was friendly and I am sure they will go from strength to strength, and will be a great asset to the village.

Good dog friendly pub if you want a good value meal. Both enjoy the burgers and evening order a second. Drinks and food reasonably priced. It's also on the Wreckers Morris band circuit for a few hours of great entertainment.

Awesome to see my old local back to a thriving drinker's pub. Glynis and Tony have brought the pub back to life and doing the works it so desperately needed.

Llegó desde el oeste de Cornwall Cornwall para un cantar. Tenía un fin muy agradable. Y muchas gracias a el propietario por hacerlo así. Es un poco descuidado pero comprensiblemente que han comprado recientemente el pub y están trabajando duro para estar a nivel, lo cual está bien ya que muchos pubs locales van a los desarrolladores. Le deseo todo lo mejor para el futuro y esperamos volver a verle.

Nos recomendaron el Queens Head por nuestros anfitriones en grises casa donde estábamos parando para un par de noches.

Nos recibieron con una cálida bienvenida por parte del personal y los habitantes en este relajado y amable. perro pub Hay trabajos en marcha con la nueva dirección, que también han introducido un nuevo menú sólo.

Antiguo encantador pub pero se estaba convirtiendo en viejos y gastados. Los nuevos propietarios de una manera genial, con un montón de planes de mejora. Gran ambiente, buena comida de pub y han empezado los asados del domingo pero reserva que las plazas son limitadas. Este pub está en el sendero del valle de Tamar ale y vale la pena una visita.

This is a proper drinkers pub, always a good atmosphere and friendly bar staff, 3 different real ales on at all time, a genuinely nice place to loose a few hours

He pasado aquí muy sobre hace una semana y vimos la enorme para la venta cartel en la pared. No sé si es el negocio a la venta como una empresa en funcionamiento o si puede ser para la venta, posiblemente para la conversión residencial. Me gustaría de verdad que el pub continúa y quien te lleva en sí todo lo que pueden para conservar su carácter sencillo pero delicioso tradicional.

Pleasant enough chap behind the bar, who served a pretty good pint of Courage, at a very fair price, but impossible to feel at home in this place, which is a pity,as the bar is pleasantly traditional and the ale is very good.

Este pub es aún muy diferente de la fórmula rústica twee falsa país bebiendo y comiendo lugares esa basura Devon y Cornwall. Este lugar tiene carácter. Sin duda una reminiscencia de la post-guerra de ton de Spar época, quizás los 1930 s. ventilado es austera, con poca decoración ahorrar unas cuantas fotos deportivas. La habitación principal individual y un pequeño Snug. Mayormente por hombres. comida tradicional de bar. Debe haber muy pocos lugares izquierda como en cualquier lugar. Vale la pena visitarlo sólo por eso.
