Went with some friends to celebrate a birthday and opted for afternoon tea for a change and were extremely pleased. Great selection of different sandwiches and other savouries and some excellent cakes for after. A couple of bottles of prosecco and a nice cup of English Breakfast tea - what's not to like. A bit more expensive than some places but worth it.

I went on valentine's day with my partner, and the actual grill was closed. However, they were operating out of the bar lounge, which is far more spectacular and has a really nice art deco aesthetic. The staff we had were really friendly, especially Molly. The 2 for 1 cocktails before 19:00 is a real bargain as the ones that we ordered were fantastic. There was a limited choice for us as vegetarians, with only two options for the starter and main; so we opted to just try all four dishes. The starters (soup of the day and asparagus on sourdough) were absolutely amazing! However, the mains were mediocre; which is a real shame as everything else was perfect - hence the 4 not 5 stars. The flavours in the risotto just did not work, and the portobello mushroom on a bun was just bland. Due to the mains not being great we decided not to risk it and go somewhere else for dessert, again which is a shame. I will be keeping an eye on social media to see if the menu changes as I would love to go back and give it another go, and hopefully change this four star review into a five!

Myself and my partner have just returned from a rare child free weekend in Leeds to celebrate my 40th birthday. We wanted to treat ourselves to a fancy meal as we dont get out very often due to childcare and it was a special occasion so we wanted to go somewhere a bit fancy. After checking out menus for several restaurants in Leeds we decided on the Queens grill even though it was a bit over budget. We booked in advance to guarantee a table and were looking forward to it. We had already decided what we were going to have to eat. On arrival we followed the sign to the restaurant down some stairs to find it locked up in darkness with a sign on the door staring the food was been served in the bar area. Why could this not have been displayed earlier on to save us a trek downstairs? On arrival at the bar area we were waiting a few minutes before anyone came to greet us then sent to the bar until our table was ready even though we saw a few empty tables on our way past. We were seated about 10 minutes later and given our menus. Nothing was said to us at that time that they were out of stock of half the menu. We only knew this as we heard the table next to us ordering to be told there were no fillet steaks, no lamb, no swordfish, only 1 sirloin left, only 2 duck breasts lefts. There were only 10 things on the menu to start with so that was half the menu out of stock! We had planned on having fillet steak and lamb so were a bit disappointed upon overhearing this. Nothing had been said to us when they handed us the menu. The other table wanted to speak to the manager to complain and she begrudgingly went over. Despite it not been very busy we were waiting 25 minutes for someone to come over to take our drink and food orders. We were then informed that the fillet steak and lamb that we wanted to order were unavailable as was lots of other dishes like we had overheard. We looked at what was left which was burgers, salads and a chicken dish and decided we would try to find somewhere else to go as those things although we like them were not exactly a special treat. It was past 9 o clock by this time so we were hungry, disappointed and worried about finding somewhere nice to eat. Luckily we managed to find somewhere a short walk away that had a much nicer ambience, better service and we enjoyed our meal. Why was half the menu unavailable on a Saturday night? It’s understandable that on a busy night the odd thing may run out but for half the menu to be unavailable when it wasnt that busy is very poor kitchen management. Service was poor though the waitress that did eventually come to see us was very nice. This nearly ruined a special celebration so we were grateful we found the alternative place nearby. Definitely will not be returning nor recommending to anyone.

There were a couple of other places in Leeds I had intended trying, but they weren't open on Sundays, so I took the default option of eating in the hotel I was staying in anyway... and I'm so glad I did! The scallop starter and lamb main course would deserve all the stars on their own, but the best thing was the service. I get rather irritated when waiting staff woodenly ask "is everything all right for you?", simply because they have been told to, but here the Maitre d' refreshingly said in passing: "I don't need to ask... I can see you're enjoying it!" I didn't manage to read his name badge, but he and my waitress Zainab were both brilliant. The hotel is great too, but you don't need to be a resident to eat here and I recommend that you do, if you have the chance.

I met up with friends for afternoon tea and we had booked a table here. I was surprised to find we seemed to be the only people booked for it, the table being already set out. To begin with the service was quite good but once our food arrived we were not approached again and had to go to the bar when we wanted more drinks. The food was of an acceptable standard, except the scones, and the least said about them the better, I didn't even attempt mine. When it was time to pay a lady came with the bill but didn't give it to us(!!), just told us what we owed, which was considerably more than we expected. My friend asked to see the bill and found a service charge had been added, I do not recall seeing anything, anywhere, about this. We asked for it to be removed, as we had had no service, the dirty crockery was still on the table and I abhor this sneaky practice. The service charge was removed, as was the extra for the drinks we had had to go to the bar for, so we paid up and left, without I'm afraid leaving a tip. The next time we meet up in Leeds we shall take tea elsewhere, suggestions welcome.

Food dreadful. Herb crusted cod main course getting on for inedible. Wine beyond awful. Hand pulled bitter in hotel bar served freezing. Why? Disco deafening, including during the meal. Why? Worst thing was that my son came to meet me at the end of the evening to go home in my car. They wouldn’t let him in despite me coming out to vouch for him. Not many in there on this friday night but it was now about 8ish.I think from what i saw and could hear that a lot of diners are hotel guests on the Q club deal which gives them a two hour free bar and evening meal,it showed . The drinks are pricey and basic wine i think was £25 ish a bottle. Starters were a waste of time pate, and calamari in salt and pepper batter.Tasteless and not cheap at £6. Ribeye steak and chips very nice indeed and really enjoyed at £25 a time. Sweets of bannoffe pie and cheese plate were excellent and worth the money. We found the starters to be on the small side and a little bland, mains were better but veg/ potatoes different to menu. This wasn't a problem just not what o expected. Didn't have a desert but they sounded lovely. I felt that the whole menu felt over priced for portion size and quality. All the food was just nice. I dined here based on convenience and was very happy with my decision! The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the service was attentive without being annoying, and when my meal was missing an element, a new plate was brought out immediately and without fuss. I had the beetroot carpaccio as a starter which was delicious but a little too small - conversely, my side dish of some rather tasty caramelised onion balsamic potatoes was huge! My tuna steak as a main was the perfect size, cooked nicely with very well seasoned vegetables. My advice would be that if you're sticking to a budget but after a larger meal, order multiple sides instead of a starter. A lovely dinner in Leeds!

I subsequently mentioned that I wanted to eat some food, to which I made an order and within a millisecond had the revised bill thrown in my face. I am writing this review to register my disappointment about the quality of service I received at the Queens Hotel bar on the 22nd October 20013, I had booked a table for two for afternoon tea at 12.00 in the bar, for a special occasion. After arriving on time for the reservation, we were shown a small table which was crammed into a corner of the bar almost as an afterthought.I was not very happy about this and asked if there was an alternative, my friend and I saw a table in a better position, a table near to the bar and we sat down.Eventually a male member of staff came and proceeded to place crockery onto the table. As he was doing this, I stopped him and informed him that the table had not been cleaned before he placed the crockery on it. I asked him to remove the crockery and wipe the table which he did. I was alarmed about the potential lack of attention to hygiene, I asked about the table cloth which was used on the table on a previous visit for afternoon tea. I was told that this was no longer available. My friend and I waited to be approached regarding our preferences for tea or coffee but no one came to ask us. However, other people were receiving tea and coffee . As time was passing without being attended, eventually I had to asked a female staff member why our afternoon tea had not arrived, she replied that they were still making the sandwiches. After waiting 25 minutes, I told her that we could no longer wait and that I wished to make a complaint to the manager. The manager arrived apologised and asked if he could offer us some tea or coffee. I declined his offer, as we had been waiting too long and had other business to attend to. It was very noticeable that the bar was full of business people and was busy and that afternoon tea was not a priority for the staff. My previous visit to the bar for afternoon tea was enjoyable, but the service this time was very poor. The staff were both disinterested and disengaged, I was really disappointed by the whole experience, as this was a Birthday present. After being ignored for half an hour, the manager’s attempt at recompense of tea or coffee was frankly abysmal.I would suggest that if the bar is busy that afternoon tea be shelved to accommodate business lunches . in my opinion, the Queens Hotel is advertising an experience of afternoon tea which is neither enjoyable or accurate. If they want to attract custom the experience of afternoon tea in the bar needs addressing. The photograph on their website contained in visit Leeds shows afternoon tea with a white tablecloth, which is what my friend and I had rightly expected as part of the experience. What should have been an enjoyable experience turned out to be a big disappointment.

I thought London Road Restaurant & Wine Bar in Alderley Edge was excellent. Attentive service and all our choices were extremely good: I particularly enjoyed the crispy duck salad as my starter. Highly recommended.

London Road Restaurant & Wine BarF, Alderley Edge, Cheshire. 22 July From start to finish, a really good experience. All the staff were exceptionally good and the lady who took our order had taken into account my food problems. Had the best ham hock salad ever. Marco, the Manager, was brilliant - he hit just the right note of customer service with friendliness and humour. Will definitely be back - I think the best eatery in Alderley Edge (and there is a lot of choice).

Varied menu locally sourced and seasonal. The quality of the meal was excellent, with good presentation and attentive service. The ambience was cool contemporary. I would recommend this venue.

Had sunday lunch at the London Road Restaurant and Wine Bar in Alderley Edge and the food was excellent. We opted for the 2 courses at £15.50 each which was great value for money. The singer brought a very nice ambience to the restaurant. If your are having a sweet you must try the affogato - the best way to have ice cream.

The London rd restaurant at Alderly Edge, Cheshire is set in a beautiful and very affluent area ( found it hard to park because of all the Bentleys !). The restaurant its self was very busy and buzzing. Everybody stares when you walk in to see if you are a footballer . We had to sit in the down stairs area were the open kichen is which at times made it very warm, smokey and occasionly hectic. Croquet and lobster starters was a disapointment. Nice evening but make sure you sit up stairs.

The Queens Grill in Leeds was very much a typical hotel restaurant with residents with small children and not the romantic meal setting that i had hoped for. The soup and steak were good but a little more choice on the menu would've been nice.

On a Sunday they have live music, which is extremely loud and prohibits any conversation. The drinks service was also shocking. We were ignored at the bar whilst waiting for our table, didn't get our water or wine until after our starter and had to ask twice for our coffees. Only one waitress seemed to be doing all the work who was very attentive. The rest of the staff let it down. The food was good but won't return for Sunday lunch!

Awful service. Pushed to order via internet not with staff. Meal paid for but, "Oh sorry that sometimes happens!" Excuse. Well excuse me but over priced, reheated chicken and chips doesn't enamour me.

A wonderful meal at Brasserie Blanc in Leeds. Delicious cheese soufflé, fillet steak and rhubarb crumble. Everyone praised the food and the great service which was just the right level of engagement -

As a friendship group and now young family we frequent all our local nandos and chose this particular one after a while of not visiting due to me catching food posting from there when I was pregnant.
