Stopped here for our family lunch today and very disappointed with the food and service.Really poor quality ham with the ham egg and chips.Overcooked scampi.Chips were hard and over cooked.Waiting staff very slow.So very poor low quality meals.

Trio roast, pigs, yorkshires. What more do you want on a sunday? Staff were very friendly especially mark and grant. Both were very attentive as my partner suffers from allergies mark nailed the food! Cant wait to return again!

Tuve el pollo y las costillas estaban demasiado cocidas y quemadas. Le dijo a la camarera que dijo que se lo diría al chef. Ni siquiera tuvo la decencia de volver y disculparse. No volveré.

So nice to have this pub open again....food is first class and so is service and Grant has rearranged the pub in such a way that it is more cosy than usual.

Hola a todos, decidimos visitar anoche ya que aún no habíamos aprovechado el esquema del gobierno. . de un descuento. así que reservamos una mesa para 6. 30. cuando llegamos ya estaba ocupado. . Nos dijeron que nos sentáramos en cualquier lugar, así que elegimos la mesa 12, que estaba en la sección inferior. estuvo bien. . luego fuimos a ordenar en el bar. . que no me gustó. el pub bakers arms en waltham abbey tiene un sistema mejor. Esperó unos 10 minutos para ordenar. . y pagué y obtuve el descuento. . parece un montón de bebedores habituales en y alrededor de la zona del bar. . todo el pub necesita una renovación mirando las mesas y sillas y la decoración parece sucia. . de todas formas . se sentó y esperó nuestra comida que llegó en unos 15 minutos. . que estuvo muy bien. . Ambos pedimos el oleaje y el césped. . con el bife de lomo. . ahora soy muy quisquilloso con la comida, pero me sorprendió mucho la calidad de la comida. . las patatas fritas estaban cocinadas a la perfección. y el bistec era perfecto medio raro. . Ambos hemos comido rib eye en muchos lugares. . ya que es nuestro ir a comer. . pero este fue el mejor bistec 10 0 z que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo. . y como el precio era menos de la mitad de lo que pagamos normalmente, nos alegramos mucho. . luego tuvimos un desierto que también era muy bueno. . pero tuvimos que esperar unos 25 minutos ya que solo tenían un pobre chico corriendo tratando de cuidar de unas 15 mesas. . Bendícelo si estás leyendo esto, muchas gracias no sé tu nombre. . y gracias al chef. . en general, una buena comida. . Ojalá lo hubiéramos probado antes e hicimos más comida para ayudar. . . de todos modos muchas gracias y nos vemos de nuevo. . Juan.

We were disappointed with the welcome as the person who greeted us looked very tired. The table wasn't clean and felt sticky. I asked the lady to give it a wipe, and although this was done with a smile, it was still just the same.The food was very slow in arriving and to be honest, wasn't really hot enough. Altogether rather disappointing.

Worse food I’ve ever had. Worst service too. Lady should not be working there. She is too slow and clueless. Will not return.

We went for lunch wth a couple of friends and had a lovely meal with the chips being the star turn as they were delicious and crispy. The staff were friendly and helpful as always and it was a leisurely couple of hours in pleasant surroundings.

If you like your food I’d avoid this pub. It’s nice for drinking but the meals are bog standard with inedible overcooked vegetables. We went for Christmas Day lunch. The entrees and desserts were passable but all our mains were overcooked with mean helpings if meat. Thankfully the gravy was nice so I drowned my meal in it to make it palatable.

I think this pub is fantastic the staff are friendly and helpful. I am new to the area and I think this is best pub in chingford. Also could have the barmaid number her name is Sam

came in for a buffet today for a family get together couldnt fault the staff was really good and fast a hats off to chole and sam for great service really enjoyed the night would definitely recommend this place

Food was very dissapointing steak was literally cremated.. replacement was tastless. We all had different food ,burger was also cremated replacement wasn't so tasty..Orders were mixed. Generally tastless food. Young lady at the bar was very nice and very helpful.. Such a pity.

Hay un viejo adagio de que obtienes lo que pagas. Muy cierto aquí. El menú es muy barato y la comida era adecuada sin ser demasiado emocionante. Los condimentos de la mesa estaban vacíos y la comida no estaba lo suficientemente caliente para mi gusto personal. El personal era perfectamente atento y amable, pero pocos se preguntan cómo podrían haberlo hecho si el lugar hubiera estado más ocupado. Un lugar de reunión conveniente que quizás necesite decidir si es un pub con comida o un restaurante.

El pub se ve muy atractivo desde afuera, pero es muy triste decir que ahí es donde termina todo lo bueno. En el momento en que entré había un ambiente entre el personal, la señora sentada a la mesa junto al bar con la computadora maldecía al personal mientras yo estaba ordenando el bar. Ella era muy poco profesional y supuse que era un miembro de alto rango del personal. Estaba bastante tranquilo allí en este momento, así que estaba claro que el personal no estaba subiendo. Fue debido al idioma y las cosas que ella decía que decidimos no comer aquí ya que el ambiente era muy desagradable.

Was very quite. Impressed with food only problem was food wasnt very hot and took and long time to arrive even though it was empty.

We decided to go to this local pub for some lunch & I fancied a Sunday roast.

Visited here for lunch on a Saturday. Totally lacking in staff. Only one member of staff to serve drinks and take food orders. When eventually served the barmaid was polite enough. One dish I ordered they had not got so I chose something else, paid for the food and drinks and went and sat down waiting to be served. The waitress then came and told us that two of the mains I had ordered were not available. We chose something else but no mention was made of the refund on the price difference.

Visited today after a family funeral. All was going fine until some children in the family pressed some buttons on the fruit machine, staff member came along and moved them on promptly and spoke uneccessarily harshly to my 70 year old mother about the 'incident'... totally over the top.

My friends and family have been visiting this pub for awhile now. Food always excellent and staff friendly. Went to a wake there recently. As usual everything was perfect and the staff done our relative proud.

Got our drinks order wrong twice and when we ordered our food low and behold got that wrong too. When the food came back our order was still wrong. No quality control or attention to detail. We ordered steak but not given steak knives. Average at best.

One beer on tap and a rude woman/manager serving (blonde hair, South West England accent). With the average food and the manager unprofessionally slagging someone off behind the bar, bossing her staff around and her miserable demeanour to boot, it’s not a place I would waste my time or money again.

El pub es fácil de encontrar y está ubicado dentro de un área residencial, con estacionamiento adecuado. Un cordial saludo de uno de los bebedores de cerveza, que resulta ser un miembro del personal. Otro miembro del personal se sentó con un cliente (¿socio?). Orden tomada de forma rápida y eficiente. Se sentó. Noté maní empaquetando basura en el suelo. Cuando llegó la comida, notó que tanto la primera como la segunda botellas de ketchup necesitaban una buena limpieza en la parte superior. Todos llegaron rápidamente, la comida no era especial, creo que olvidaron que había pedido un postre, ya que no llegó hasta que se estableció contacto visual con el bebedor de cerveza (miembro del personal). Cargas de potencial.

La comida era estupenda, sin embargo, fue decepcionante por el personal grosero (gerente) arruinó la experiencia. no volveremos!

We enjoyed a meal at this pub before a walk in Epping Forest. Haddock and chips, and buttermilk Chicken burger were both nicer than average pub food. Sitting it the restaurant was comfortable, our family was welcomed. We would visit again.

We attended a very dear friends wake and were very impressed with the service he food was really tasty fresh and hot - pub was very clean and plenty of parking would recommend

Had such a great time here, all of the staff were super friendly and they had some great deals on wine. My friend was celebrating her birthday and Lauren organised a special dessert for her- it was really kind! Plus they have a special vegan/ veggie menu. A great find and excellent value for money. The staff are great too!

Came in for a friends birthday party there was very friendly staff and great atmosphere food was very good and a great variety of drinks got speaking to the bar staff and they was very friendly, Tom and Lauren was very helpful

I visited Queen Elizabeth in many occasions and what at the beginning was only a suspect became slowly a clear matter of fact.

We used to come here when we lived in Walthamstow when it was our little escape to the forest. Now we are lucky enough to call it our local. Lovely staff Sam, Kelly, Denise, Grant, Milan, Marian & Denise always give a warm welcome & top service. We love coming for breakfast & the roast, both of which are delicious & in generous portions. Loads of choice on the menu even for kids & veggies & a good selection of booze of course, all very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit if you’re over this way for a walk in the Plains or Connaught Water. Keep up the good work, from Liz, Dan, Charlotte & Harry♥️

This is our local. We enjoy meeting friends there regularly and catching up. But the food is so disappointing. We usually eat there about once a week. There tends to be something that’s not available on the menu. Don’t ask for a Wagu burger. No chance! I’ve been told previously there was no rice to go with my curry (would I like potato. No!). No peas is a regular! Who doesn’t have peas. So tonight I had the ‘SLOW-ROASTED TOMATO PENNE PASTA (V) Penne pasta tossed in slow-roasted tomato sauce, with baked courgette and red peppers. Topped with shaved Italian-style hard cheese and baby leaves’. I have this as it’s safe. Usually comes with a good shaving of Parmesan and rocket on the top. Not tonight. No garnish and spot the parmesan. When I asked the barman about the rocket (I hadn’t noticed the lack of Parmesan at that point) he took it away to sort it out. When he came back he presented me with my pasta with some ripped lettuce on top. They’d run out of rocket! Not much sauce either. Not an expensive menu item but still! What’s going on! It’s not his fault. He was apologetic. I blame Ember Inns and Mitchells & Butler. I’d hate to lose this pub but the food must be of a good standard for the pub to survive because the locals can’t keep it going forever.

What a brilliant night, den and her loyal team put on an amazing night with food and a band got looked after as usual , can’t fault this place even laid on dinner for us , go here it’s a brilliant atmosphere can’t praise this this place enough

Very dissapointed in our lunch, its not difficult to boil green beans! My partner had to order 4 times as they didn't have the ingrediens. The staff was lovely.

Very local to us and used to be a more regular visitor, however from the last few visits I've noticed a change in the atmosphere and the staff are less friendly.

we always go for a drink at this pub on Sundays. Last Sunday we decided to have a Sunday lunch. Me and my wife ordered pea and mushroom soup and Sunday chicken roast. I don't have any food allergies but after having soup I started sweating and dizziness. My wife stood up grab me and started blowing air with menu card. Most diners asked me are you ok can I bring you some water. But none of the staff came to my aid. After some water I felt little better and went to toilet and had a very bad vomit. I came back and decided not to have chicken roast so I asked for the refund. after arguing gave me full refund blaming me for getting sick. when the soup came it wasn't looking very good

Took my mum for lunch today . And as always staff very friendly and helpful. The food was as good as every other time iv been there . Never disappointed

Recientemente me mudé a la zona y estaba emocionado de visitar aquí. Very grumpy service from the woman behind the bar,serving staff were friendly . Food was disappointing, sadly we won't be back.

I came to this pub with my boyfriend and daughter and was met by an extremely rude woman who we assumed ran the place. We waited over an hour for a rotten starter of microwaved soggy nachos after a “mix up” with the soup we ordered, whilst waiting for our mains another rude arrogant waitress came over to “borrow” our salt and vinegar which she gave to another table ! She took our condiments before our mains had come to give to another table ! After waiting an hour for our mains I went to the bar to ask how long and was told “I’ve got a bigger table to serve” the food finally arrived burnt to a crisp yet cold, I have inserted a picture of the rank burnt sausage they saw fit to serve to a child! The service is absolutely disgusting, the staff are miserable and rude I will never ever return to this hell hole !! Gives Chingford a bad name sure enough by its standards this dump will go out of business and will be took over by new owners who know how to run a pub properly and have a clear understanding of what good customer service is.

Visit this pub quite frequently at least 1 a month with my family.

Wrote a few trip advisers and always speak as I find, had a lovely family meal in this warm a cosy pub. Members off staff served all of our needs and whole experience was as I wanted. Reasonably priced and great food. Few of us bit fussy with dinner but no complaints here. Thank you hope to return in near future.

Upon visiting this pub I found the food to be of good quality and the service was excellent. Our waitress for the evening was Samantha and she couldn’t have been more helpful. It was service with a smile and considering we had a few children with us she made light work of it. Very happy would definitely visit again.

We are not regulars at the Lizzie but popped in even though we've been put off by the attitude of one staff member in the past.

Been to this pub a few times now . And I have never been disappointed. The staff are very welcoming and friendly . The food is excellent. And very good value for money . Have been on a few Saturday evenings when they have had entertainment which has been very good . Well worth a visit highly recommended

Visited this pub earlier in the month and we all had a great time.

We have been to this place several times previously and found it pleasant and the bar staff friendly. On this occasion we took friends for a Sunday lunch.

The food here is so so and not particularly memorable. The actual service is ok, but it does depend who is serving. It used to be a much better place to go to for a meal. If your just popping in for a drink though its fine.

No entiendo cómo la gestión de este pub puede emplear una camarera que no sólo es brusco pero simplemente grosero. Ella completamente mimados nuestra visita. Subrayo que mis comentarios sólo se aplican a una de las dos camareras que nos sirve, el otro estaba bien. En las circunstancias que me han hecho una queja directa por escrito a Ember Inns.

Went for a family dinner this evening and young girl behind bar was rude so walked out and will not be going back again the same girl was miserable to me last time i went starting to wonder if I remind her of an ex

Just to let everyone know, Denise and her team always look after you, Sam bless her is a treasure, have never had a local until we discovered this little gem , always feel a valuable customer here Denise is a credit to her industry, check it out , phone first though to make sure you get a table, food is always fresh.

Three of our party were unable to have the items they ordered, but we weren't told until other meals were actually being served so too late to order replacements, one couldn't eat their food because it was so tough, portion sizes small, service was incredibly slow and no apologies from any staff member. Will not be going back there.

Reservamos nuestra comida del día de Navidad aquí por 13 y nos lo pasamos de maravilla. Aunque estaban muy ocupados todo el personal era muy eficiente, amable y dispuesto a hacer cualquier cosa que se le pide. El ambiente era muy agradable. Entrantes, plato principal y postre eran preciosas. Perfectamente cocinado y a la temperatura adecuada. Uno de mis nietos es autista y pedimos los postres para ser servido bastante rápidamente como él un gran fidgity y vinieron rápidamente. He de decir que esta era la más agradable de las cenas de Navidad que hemos tenido y mucho mejor que Miller & Carter Epping el año pasado. Excelente relación calidad-precio y me aseguraré de reservar para el próximo año!

Went here on a whim on 13/10/2017 lunchtime. Staff were friendly. Food was served up hot and on time. Would go back.

Last minute decision and not really hungry, so ordered nibbles, came within reasonable time and food was fine, nothing amazing, but it filled a space.

Food was over cooked and dry. Definitely won't be eating there again. The staff were pleasant enough but when we ordered cocktails, it was obvious the barman had no idea what he was doing. He had to make them using a list of ingredients and he still got them wrong!

Visited this evening for my dads 67th birthday, a table of 11. There was no one else in the restaurant so should have been a pleasant meal with efficient service however.....

This is a great pub if you're a drinker or foody fantastic selection of beer, ale and lager etc great choice of food all cooked very well at a reasonable price and if you have there app some great bargains too and one final thing staff who work there make you feel comfortable and welcome

This is another one of the Mitchell and Butler chain of restaurants under the Embers Inns brand. If driving there on the post code don't panic as it shows reaching the destination on the start of a residential area, just continue a further 150 mtrs and you will find it. This is a quiet restaurant with friendly staff who are helpful and make you feel welcome. The food is as would be expected in one of these M&B; restaurants. The service is quick and efficient. I will definately be paying further visits to this establishment

Went to eat tonight. Asked for a medium cooked steak came up rare and mostly raw. Relayed this information to the lady behind the bar she informed us she will speak to the manager never heard anything back. Only eat burgers and chips here that is all they are fit for cooking and serving.

Have been here a few times to eat since it re-opened as an Ember Inns and it is steadily getting worst, they never have a full menu and the food is now at best mediocre. This evening has got to be the worst, ordered crispy duck salad and can only described what got served as vomit on some lettuce leafs, duck was shredded and mixed with a sauce, nothing remotely crispy about it. Won't be returning for food, just for a drink it's ok.

Went there for a bit to eat with a friend ordered a crispy duck salad and a pea risotto with asparagus. 35 minutes after the order the bar man comes over and said there's no risotto. Why it took 35 minutes to realise that in the kitchen is beyond me. Then he said sorry there is risotto just no asparagus, 5 mins later he realised that actually there's no risotto. My mate ordered something else. 45 mins later the food arrives. It was not crispy duck salad that arrived. It looked like a diarrhoea on lettuce leaves. Very disappointed will not be eating here again. I have tried eating here several times to give them the benefit of the doubt. Each time they don't have food on the menu and what you eventually get is poor standards of food.

I went in this hostel last weekend. It's perfect to visit London. Very cheap, near the tube, near the most important train stations, in a strategic and quite zone. I slept with other 3 people. The room and the bathroom was clean. There is a wifi in all the hostel. The pub is avaiable 24h and the staff is very nice, especially Giovanni. He is very nice and kind. I went with him and the other guys of the staff in a party near the hostel.

Let me start on the nice note - the Pub looks lovely don't get me wrong however almost every time we came there they were always out of salmon so why keep the Eggs Royal on the menu. That was going on for a year always when we wanted to order it, it was not available. Many times we came to the pub there was a lovely girl behind the bar however hadn't had a slightest clue what she was doing. All confused, didn't know how to work the cash register machine.. So we didn't come for a while and not long ago we said to try and get some breakfast/brunch there. Stepped in and it was a proper mess. Dirty dishes all over the bar it looked like no one cleaned from last night and bear in mind if was a bit before noon! The manager was eating there with the family and jumped by the counter. Unprofessional...So when we wanted to order veggie version of Eggs benedict - as it was on the menu - she said they are out of the sauce. Are they ever not out of the sauce or salmon or anything...?!?! And then we said we'll think about it and her reaction was rude she couldn't care less.So unprofessional, poor service and always out of things on menu!

This is what my 3 yr old said when she saw her food. Took half an hour to come so we assumed it had been nicely baked from scratch. Turns out to be cooked in the microwave. This pub should stick to drinks or revert back to the good old carvery it was.

the food is nice but some of the staff walk passed you at your table and don't even acknowledge you pubs are all about making you welcome these days and first impressions would make you want to come back if you got a nice welcome first time round xx it really is hard to get staff that like there jobs these days xx maybe I'm old School xxx

The beer was fine but the language from a vroup of regulars was disgusting, when asked to stop swearing they looked completely bemused, I don't think they realised that their language was causing offence!

It's been there for generations and in that time has changed according to ongoing trends, currently housing a lovely hotel, restaurant, events catering, coffee bar and wonderful views. On the very edge of London, walking distance to the last station on the overland line from Liverpool street, well worth a City Break or weekend away

Visited the pub yesterday for Sunday lunch absolutely awful was 10 for dinner everyone thought the same very dry chicken fish not great

Been coming to this pub for last 8 years. Came on Saturday 22 April 2017 dreadful service something going on hardly anyone in the pub despite having to wait 1 hour for what I call "fast food". There seemed to be jus one man and one woman who appeared now and then think she was in the kitchen trying to be chef. When they brought food up look absolutely inedible dried up unappetising I said to her I cannot eat that it looks terrible she said sorry I've only been here 8 weeks eat it and I'll give you refund. Well I didn't eat it because it looked so bad we both got up immediately left food got refund and will never go back in there again. Such a shame as it's such a lovely local pub just needs some professional people to run it!!!

Been coming here 35+ years and sadly since change of brewery a great pub has been going downhill rapidly. They are more interested in selling rehashed, microwaveable food than the wet side, the beer choices range from mediocre to near non-existence and you never kow what, if any is available and then it is a toss of the coin on the quality. Service is slow and the Lizzy's raison d'etre needs revisiting.

Came here for Mothers Day Sunday lunch. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco - a very nice welcome. The roasts came with Yorkshire puddings, roast and boiled potatoes , lots of well cooked veg and good gravy. A really good and tasty plateful. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a lovely family atmosphere in the dining area. Great value.

We had a really nice lunch at this pub. The mains were great, and entres were very large. But felt like the mains were a little pricey even though they were high quality.

Visited today and with my daughter and was given the best freindly welcome I have ever had in a pub restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble and the person in the bar was attentive at all times. The food was hot and of very good quality. I will be visiting again very soon to try the evening menu with the rest of my family.

I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and the food as always been very good. Not too much on menu which is a shame as more choice would be appreciated. Downside for me is lack of staff at lunch time - mid afternoon. Would recommend.

An hour wait for Sunday lunch despite only being half full.When the food did eventually arrive it was terrible. School dinner stuff. Beef you could make a shoe out of.

I have been here a couple of times over the Christmas period and my fellow diners have been disappointed with their selections. I have always kept to the simple dishes, Ham and eggs and bacon sandwiches. I have not been disappointed with these, in fact the bacon sandwich in brown bread was very nice indeed. However the more ambitious dishes such as the full breakfast (a bit burnt) and the Sirloin steak (a bit chewy) and the vegetables (watery and bland) are disappointing.

Met with some friends for lunch on Christmas Eve. First of all three of our party wanted to order slow cooked ribs of beef but we were told they had none left. It was only 1.00 pm. This is not the first time this has happened. They have a very large menu and you may have to make at least three choices before you actually get something that they have available. This is ridiculous, why have this very large menu to show to customers when half of the choices are not available. Then somebody in our party ordered the hunters chicken which was cooked to death and covered in a hot spicy sauce. The chicken was hard and difficult for the elderly person to cut. Two of us had chicken BLT sandwiches which were shown on the menu as being on bloomer bread....what we got was ordinary sliced bread. One person ordered cheese and ham ....he got no chutney which was listed on the menu. The chicken in the sandwiches were also cooked to death and hard. The staff were slow to clear away and actually dropped some of the bread off one of the plate of sandwiches. Very sloppy. Other people have given us similar feed back about this pub so they honestly need to buck up their ideas and I won't be in a rush to revisit. It was dreadful.

Visited with family, great friendly atmosphere. Food was very good and the staff were great. I would highly recommend.

I visited here for the first time today for a Bank Holiday lunch with my husband and son and I don't think we will be back again.I ordered the beef pie which I was told had ran out so I changed it to fish and chips. After about 40 minutes the waitress came to tell me that they were out of the fish so I had to quickly order something else. I ordered the burger which when it came was over cooked and dry. It didn't come with any salad, coleslaw or mayo (also the same with my husband's chicken burger) and we were told that they had ran out of the mayo and coleslaw. I ordered veggie sticks and houmous for my son and what arrived was definitely not that. However the waitress tried to tell us that's what it was. I suspect they had ran out of this as well. We then had to wait for our desserts and after some time my husband had to try and find someone to ask. The waitress was friendly and lovely and tried to help as much as she could but the food and overall experience wasn't very nice at all I'm afraid.

We quite often go to eat here and it's never disappointed so we decided to have our Boxing Day meal here too. I was a bit sceptical about eating out on Boxing Day, but for under £20 a head, £10 for children, for three courses, it seemed worth a try. The food was amazing, the portions large. The service was faultless. There was no rush for us to eat and leave, it was very relaxed. Our party of 9 ranged from 75 to 7 and everyone was delighted. We would definitely do a Christmas meal again. Highly recommended.

Went here today with my partner and our families, what can I say, like to dine well inNice surroundings with helpful staff and at a reasonable price, look no further, the queen Elizabeth ticks every box, one of the best places in chingford to eat, will definitely be eating here again

We again visited the Queen Liz last week to try the festive menu and I felt I must say how good it was! (& at £10.99 for 2 courses a bargain)We had smoked salmon and prawn cocktail followed by Flat ironed steak ( this was like a slow cooked beef that fell apart) both were very good,On the downside the WiFi still was not working (the same as months ago...) and with only one bar staff on it was a little slow to get a drink...over all a good meal for a small price.

Visited with friends for lunch and the restaurant was not busy at all in fact they was only serving about 10 people max, ordered lunch at 12.15 which took ages to come up, then ordered desert one friend ordered mini desert with coffee and the dessert came up after about 20 minutes later than the coffee.Service is really poor not enough staff to cope with restaurant and bar would not recommend

Hi Have been here a few times since the referb and had positive experiences.Not sure what has happened - two weeks before christmas and the place was almost empty -WHY it should be heaving this time of year.when we arrived the normally wonderful staff seemed stressed.food order took ages - desert when it finally turned up was cold and runny not sure what was going on here but this is a great place good location and a lost opportunity. I do fear if the game isn picked up soon this place will close :(
