Quayside Bar & Grill in Dover

One of the most chaotic dining experiences I’ve ever had. I came here with my partner and my parents and were seated by the door. After we’d sat a reservation came in and it was a shambolic experience watching as the wait staff tried to work out where to seat them. We waited a long while to be asked our drinks order which was done without ever seeing a drinks menu, and the food menu was written on one chalkboard which was haphazardly passed around the restaurant, meaning people waited a long, long time to be served. The waitresses had fairly long hair that was not tied up (even though they had hair bands on their wrists), which was quite off putting, and mobile phones hanging out their pockets - a fairly unprofessional look, they looked absolutely terrified to handle a plate of food as the service got busier. There was also a lack of communication around who had or hadn’t been served, contributing to the overall chaos. It was also incredibly hard to work out who there staff were, in order to ask for help. Food took a long time to come out, first we had two prawn cocktails which were fine. The roasts came out and the vegetable portion was the same for a table of 4 as it was a table of 2 meaning there was not enough veg to go round, we asked for more but this didn’t come. The chicken was okay but the beef was inedible, incredibly oily and fatty with a bitter taste. The roast potatoes tasted like they’d been deep fat fried and were not enjoyable. By the time the food came we’d waited a very long time so ate what we could because we were hungry, but both beef roast dinners were largely untouched. I hate to complain as I know hospitality is a difficult industry, but it seemed that the organisation here completely crumbled as soon as the sun came out and the day got busier - a worrying sign given that summer is coming. I am grateful however for one of the more senior staff members who sorted out our bill as we were getting ready to leave.

Food looked great but we never got any. Order was taken for drinks and food THREE times with nothing appearing. In the end we walked out having not received any drinks or food within 30 minutes. We were one of the first tables to arrive but later guests got served before us.

Lovely staff! Great food! Great prices! Warm in winter, covered over area in summer! Anyone is welcome! And made to feel welcome by the whole team! Great place to go as a family, couple or with friends for a drink!

A friend and I visited the quayside for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Great atmosphere , warm and friendly welcome. Breakfast was one of the best Iv had, great value for money . I would go again!

Just had the most amazing roast at The Quayside, I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve had in a very long time, everything was cooked to perfection, loads of veg and gravy, the roast potatoes were spectacular! If you’re looking for a roast dinner then I highly recommend The Quayside, not only is the food good but the staff are attentive and friendly giving off a very warm welcome as you arrive. Well done to all the team, we will be back very soon.

Lovely location, beside the river in beautiful Sandwich. The staff are very friendly and the drinks and food reasonably priced. We have always found the food fresh and the portions large. Really good value. To cap it all off there is a good selection of drinks, always served with a smile. It is a spacious venue, with lots of tables and comfy seating spread out nicely. I really like the fact that you can just come for a drink without feeling any pressure to eat. It is always a very relaxed and welcoming environment. Regular quality live music acts and events are hosted throughout the year. It is a lovely venue for music. In summary it is a refreshing addition to Sandwich, which compliments the many other traditional pubs and restaurants in the town. Highly Recommended!!!

Poor Food/Poor Service/Music so loud had to shout to be heard ! Chaotic overall, would not consider going again or recommending to others.

Just the place to be on a sunny afternoon, right next to the river. They have a good menu, frequently with plenty of fish on it and very reasonable prices. The drinks are reasonably priced as well. Lovely staff although it seems to get a little confused when they are busy but the food certainly makes up for that! The Pulled Pork is so good!

Enjoyed our food, rather different ! But they muddled our booking, until ?the owner intervened. Then we got the riverside table we’d requested. We requested olives and bread while choosing, server came back to say had run out of olives…. The bread was nice! We spent ages debating our menu choices, and only on ordering were told 4 items (including 2 of our choices!) were unavailable ! As we left, server asked us if we’d paid … when we’d settled the bill with her only a few minutes before! An interesting visit !

This place is definitely worth a visit. It is easily missed being just over bridge in Sandwich but please make a detour to visit it. The service and welcome is excellent! Fresh cooked food from a simple but inviting menu is excellent. We had squid and excellent slaw and fries. A great place , good value, relaxed and chilled. Go visit!

Absolutely amazing breakfast , 5 star food and service. Atmosphere is lovely inside and nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely recommend!

This is a great bar for everyone! The food is lovely and great value for money. The atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly. It's on the Quayside and had lovely views as well as lots of entertainment winter spring summer and fall.

Went to a comedy bingo night, it was such fun and the atmosphere was great. Such a cosy place with very attentive staff. We have eaten here many times and highly recommend the food. The portions are huge and such value for money

Visited yesterday for Sunday roast. The food and atmosphere were really good, probably the best homemade cheesecake ever!! Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Will definitely go back and try the other items on the menu.

Just popped in on New Years Day for a drink.. it was full of people eating yummy looking food and full of festive cheer! Live music was perfection.. chilled soulful rock. No room to sit but they were very welcoming and the bar maid was so helpful and went above and beyond despite being so busy! Thank you we will be returning.

three of us had lunch today great ham, egg and chips for two of us and an amazing jacket potato with chilli and cheese wonderful and friendly service what a WOW place, marquee by the river, perfect for a winters day

Arranged to meet friends here for pre river boat trip and returned for Sunday roast afterwards. Food was absolutely outstanding. Probably one of the best roast dinners I've ever had! Friendly staff and lovely ambiance. A gem!

Amazing location and even better service and food. This is probably the best spot in Sandwich for all round atmosphere food and warm service. We will visit often
