This cafe has been closed for months. There doesnt seem any sight of it reopening. I think the owner was having staff problems and suffering from unsympathetic reviews. We enjoyed our visits and good food. Shame

Have eaten here many many times. I also call in regularly for take aways. Food is excellent, staff are lovely and can’t do enough to help your visit be a pleasant one. They love seeing your dogs which are welcome inside and out! Home made cakes, quiche, scones and sausage rolls to die for but they sell out quick! It gets busy and sometimes staffing can be an issue but where isn’t in hospitality since covid? Worth having a little patience and understanding. It’s good to see they have lots of regular customers and on first name terms with them, that says it all! Highly recommend Quarmbys!

This would be a lovely cafe were it not for its customers - how irritating it must be to have to serve them... Had very nice coffees but after an hour and 20 mins wait to order a birthday breakfast we were informed there were no eggs - really?!!! Left hungry and annoyed. Shall not return which is a shame as we like to support our local businesses. Staff not at all bothered.

Good cafe/deli with good bread, quiche and cakes. Gluten free cakes too. I tried a scone and it was excellent. Opening times are a bit hit and miss as they seem to open late and close early for private functions so if you are travelling any distance it is best to make sure they will be open.

This is what makes getting off the beaten path worthwhile: a crossroads out in the country, the need for a short break, and there's what looks like a simple, traditional tea shoppe. Wrong: it's a luxe deli with exquisite foodstuffs, and sublime snacks and breakfasts. This is the kind of foodie heaven that has Shoreditch hipsters in fits of ecstasy. Worth the effort if you find yourself in Yorkshire on the way to the moors. All I had was toast with nut butter and banana and it was like eating at a 4* restaurant. Bliss.

This is the third time I have cycled to Quarmbys and sadly today it let it self down. I had a Yorkshire tea with toast and marmalade, The tea was excellent but the toast was equated to 1.5 slices the .5 slice being the end piece cut quite thinly and was dry and crispy which broke up when eaten very unsatisfactory at the price that you are charged just for toast and marmalade. Not their ussual high standard.

The egg dishes went down well with my eldest son, the kids lunch box was delightful for my youngest, my husband loved the quiches and pies and the ham and cheese on toast was so tasty. Cannot fault this cafe in any way. Our dog was even made welcome at the outside area. I’m not sure whether dogs are allowed inside as it was a sunny day when we took him with us.

Came here for lunch before a country walk and had high expectations which I am glad to say we’re fulfilled, almost 5*. The deli is stocked with delicious premium products, some of which are hard to find locally (in York). Lots of lovely gins, cheeses, chocolates, jars of bits and bobs, coffees, teas, flours etc. Good gift ideas too, and plenty of free from products, eg gluten free, vegan, alcohol free etc. Really nicely laid out place with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was very good indeed, desserts and coffee (brownie was one of the best I’d ever tasted and carrot cake also good) 5* and lunch main courses very tasty but could do with a little tweaking to bring it all to 5*. For instance the crumpet with tomato and cheese could have down with a touch longer in the grill and the soup was a little thick. All in all an excellent visit and we look forward to coming again soon.

We have visited Quarmbys a couple of times and both visits have not disappointed. On both occasions we have had cake and the choices have been different each time (although disappointed there wasn't any elderflower and pistachio cake which I had enjoyed on the previous visit ). We have always eaten outside, as there is a lovely seating area to the front (they also provided blankets if it's chilly or a gazebo if it's sunny and water for dogs). On our first visit we decided to call back after our walk to buy some cheeses, hams and breads - which have to say were extremely delicious - too many cheeses to choose from so I asked for recommendations and have to say the truffle cheese was to 'die for'. Highly recommend this quaint little shop for cake, lunch and definitely the cheeses! This would also be a great stop for cyclists to 'refuel'.

Decided that, today, as we had some quality time together we would head out somewhere different to our normal Costa over the road!! I read the reviews on trip advisor about this place and were NOT disappointed!! It would be very easy to drive past it if you're not familiar with the area as no real signage that I noticed...upon entering were made to feel welcome by staff with big smiles and an 'hello'. The menu is superb...fresh hot cross buns & I mean just out of the oven fresh were ready to serve plus the rest if the menu was full of hearty healthy options! My other half had a hot cross bun with a flat white whilst I opted for a smoked chicken, salad and Mayo sandwich on locally sourced bread. Both were prepared fresh and quick with our coffees. Both were filling, delicious and served with a smile!! There is lots to occupy yourself with in the shop...magazines, toys for the small ones and a great range of quirky gifts and healthy foods! We took 2 hot cross buns which are temptingly sat in the bread bin....The meal plus the buns and some other things came to £19.95 and well worth every penny!!! We will be back...Thankyou also to our lovely waitress...I'm sorry we didn't catch your name but your service was spot on...pleasant, friendly and polite without being overbearing

We passed through Sherif Hutton last year and could see this was a popular deli/coffee shop. So, having a day chilling and relaxing in North Yorkshire decided to visit on the way to Castle Howard. We were made very welcome. The menu was varied and well priced. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Will no doubt visit again.

This cafe is a gem. There are so many reasons to love it: great coffee, bread and cakes, attractively presented and tasty food, an excellent range of eclectic and daily cupboard items for the discerning cook, charming and interesting gifts, and always friendly and efficient service.

Quarmby's is our new favourite deli/coffee shop in our local area. It's great for a coffee or a lazy lunch. They have everything just right here. Lots of fabulous products and produce in the deli, coffee and scrummy cakes, spotless loos with various hand creams and scents for customer use ( nice touch for us ladies), seating inside and out, weather permitting of course.

We visited here today with a voucher my friend gave me as a gift. Lovely setting, beautiful shop, excellent staff, delicious food, good value for money. Highly recommend.

This is the type of place We would love to have near our home in Kent. A warm welcome, superb service and a well stocked deli with something for everyone. A fantastic stop for cyclists, walkers or those driving through. We had Delicious scrambled eggs on toast for brunch washed down with English breakfast tea made with proper loose tea leaves. Needless to say, we couldn't resist purchasing a few treats like smoked Yorkshire Mayo, their own chutney and a freshly made sausage roll and quiche. We opted for a few slithers from 3 of the many cheeses on display and settled down to a buffet style feast a few days later in the cottage we were staying at in the village. We will miss this place but will definitely return again soon.

I have eaten here many times and it is NEVER a disappointment. I'm not sure which is best the fantastic staff or the amazing and very creative food that is on offer. For my wife and I if we want to take somewhere just outside York for lunch or even just for coffee Quarmby's in Sherrif Hutton is the place to go as anyone going there is made to feel very special.

What a wonderful place. Fantastic food, coffee and atmosphere. The coffee is less expensive than high street chains, so I'm not sure where the reviewer below usually buys their coffee. Oreo ice cream particularly good. Ideal bike ride or walk stop-off. Will certainly be visiting again.

Decent choice of food available however we ordered pie mash Mushy peas and gravy. Only had 1 pie (so got a pasty as there was 2 of us) Mash was made from a jacket potato it was very lumpy tinned peas over blasted in the microwave served with a smile however forgot the gravy and it arrived half way through us eating the meal. Sadly this place could be a little gold mine if run correctly and proper attention to detail applied with the food. We hafmd our lunch at 12.15 so there was no way they could have ran out of mash? Could do better really

Booked the brewery tour package from Red Letter days. The tour was very informative with Josh being a fountain of knowledge and obviously loving brewing and beer. His witty remarks and low key humour really made the tour enjoyable. The beer tasting in the bar was flexible and offered a pint taken eith as a pint, two halves or a flight of 3, third pints to enable a range to be tried! Although a small brewery they have some quite advanced mechanisation for bottling, canning and casking! Very impressed,

A lovely friendly bakery, just one wee table to sit and and have a coffee and observe the comings and goings of the regulars, the holiday makers and day trippers. Bread and cakes wonderful, a lovely lady owns this place and I wish her well!

Really friendly and tasty fare. Plenty of choice which was a real representation of good Yorkshire fare. Reasonably priced too
