We have been to the purple rain lounge twice now Once for the open mic night for drinks and today for Sunday lunch. It’s a great venue a hidden gem down Queen Anne street in Southport, the decor is fab really quirky set over two floors, with a great stage for live music, the Sunday lunch was a bargain at £10 and really delicious we will be back for the tapas which sounds lovely.

Took my child in for a bite to eat, she is normally very picky when it comes to food. But the chef came and spoke to her and made her something she likes the sound of. Good selection of gluten free food for myself also . The barman was very helpful and dressed very smart . Will very much be going again

What a great place! It is a lovely decorated bar / restaurant/ live entertainment venue. The food was the best I have had for along time . I had a goats cheese dish which was a generous portion with a beautiful chilli garlic veg side dish of broccoli and asparagus, cooked to perfection . Some of my friends had tapas which looked impressive. The service was friendly and efficient. After our meal we stayed late and had a dance . Will definitely be back soon.

It was my first visit eating and drinking here and it won’t be my last. I was in a party of 9 people to celebrate a birthday.Food was delicious and plenty of it,good drinks the biggest espresso martini I have had and I have a few.Live music. We had a blast. The only downside was that they didn’t have any zero beer as the delivery hadn’t arrived.

Went to The Purple Rain Lounge Southport tonight with my son, daughter-in-law & neice after telling them how lovely it is in there and the great photos & reviews of their food. My neice & I ordered the tapas each and my son & wife a starter each and the surf & turf each. The young guy serving us came up to say sorry we were still waiting but they'd bring us out bread & olives whilst we waited.. They didn't materialise. They then brought out our tapas & their fries (which they'd ordered to go with their steaks) Cold side plates with the tapas so as soon as they were put on the plate, they were cold. I asked for salt & pepper but ten minutes later one of us had to go up to the bar to ask again and bring them back to the table. An hour later and still no sign of the 2 steaks. I went to the bar to cancel them. The other guy behind the bar apologised. I pointed out there were 9 people in there, 2 had given up and walked out so 7 in total?! There were no people sat drinking so no other customers. He took nothing off the bill to apologise so over £73 for the tapas, 1 bruschetta starter, 1 garlic bread starter, 3 fries, 3 cokes & 1 wine. My poor son and wife will either have to go somewhere else to eat or get a takeaway on their way home.

A small, compact cafe with a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. Definitely a cut above the average park cafe - nice coffee and a good selection of cakes and traybakes. The breakfasts looked good as well.

This used to be a good bar but is now just a high priced dog compound. 9 dogs in this very small bar. Wouldn't order food given the smell of dogs and lack of washing of hands by bar staff after feeding treats to the dog. Don't bother, there are better alternatives in Formby.

Expensive for what you get. Service was great but you can feel the place is just designed to get as much money as they can for what little they give

I briefly popped into Waterfields today and I was very pleasantly surprised at the selection. The cakes and snacks were extensively stocked behind the counter and were very reasonably priced at under £2 each. I bought a cupcake with vanilla cream on top which was delicious! The staff serving were friendly, polite and efficient. You can also sit in to eat, if you wish. The only issue was that the loaves of bread/toasties were running out, then again it was 3pm so this was understandable. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit!
