Tameside is blessed with several great Indian restaurants, and this is one we keep returning to. The food is excellent, with perfect spice levels, and tender meat. The service is also excellent, with waiters always on the ball. We visited on Mother's day, and it was absolutely packed. And yet the food came quickly, and was of a high standard. NB: I tried the vindaloo once, and it almost blew my head off. So only order it if you can cope with a lot of heat.

The food and service were great but we had booked a table and had to wait 40 minutes after asking 4 times we got our table. We did get free poppadoms though Curry was nice albeit a little too salty

All good for me and my party,very busy but they coped very well,good service and polite staff and good food at a reasonable price. 👍👍👍👍👍

It was a decent place. Food was good. Butter chicken was lovely. The carpet in place is a little past it's best and is dirty looking. But all in all that didn't put us off. Would defo be back 😊😁

We went to this restaurant for our son’s birthday. It seemed like they preferred their regular customers because the way they welcomed us, as first-time visitors, was not good at all. Since I have two small children, the waiters rudely warned us multiple times. They even reminded us that everything in the restaurant was very expensive and that we should be careful with our kids. This was extremely disappointing and disrespectful. We had a very stressful evening and couldn’t enjoy our child’s birthday because we had to make sure the kids didn’t move from their seats. I had to order a glass of water three times before finally receiving it on the third attempt. Overall, we felt like we had made a mistake by choosing this place, as the staff was not welcoming at all. Even if the food quality was good, we didn’t notice because we were not in a good mood. It was definitely our first and last visit to this restaurant.

Foods decent always fresh lamb chops are the best

Early evening booking for 13 people, good service, large selection of dishes with everything well presented. Car parking in the grounds.

So I'm really annoyed with the purple olive... I live in a mezzanine flat where twice the driver has refused to come to the door! First time I went down because I was hungry, rang the restaurant and they said they were sorry and it won't happen again! Next time this also happened again, so when food arrived I refused to take the order and had to argue with him to come up the stairs!!! This is poor customer service and the only takeaway place that has ever refused to come up some stairs! I get bad sciatica and find it painful to go up and down stairs after a long day at work Shame as the food is really nice, but I should not be arguing with the staff about bringing food to my door!

Best curry house in the north West

Had my most recent visit for dinner, yesterday, since this is a favourite for me and the rest of the family. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we received our food in a definitely timely manner, and it was as delicious as usual. Service is also friendly, especially as they recognise us from prior visits. Very likely to visit again in the future.

got here 5 pm got seated and the place was absolutely freezing cold the heating is totally inadequate, we was sat at the table with our coats on along with others in the restaurant, who also complained, don’t get me wrong the food is really good here and is a nice place, but i remember when it was the Indian ocean and it was the same then no heating think they need to look into the issue rapid

Family favourite. Been here for various meals out and celebrations over the years. The last 2 years, we've had Christmas Day there and eaten their Christmas day curry. Can't fault it at all. Fabulous staff and food.

Terrible experience on Boxing Day, really poor. First of all the heat in the place is ridiculous, boiling hot its an absolute furnace. Seen other reviews mention the air con was broken well it was the same a year ago so they clearly have a problems with the temperature especially when busy, I suspect they don't want to put air con on. Kept waiting to be seated for 30 minutes after the time time the table was booked for, then took over 2 hours to get the main meal on the table. I get it was very busy but why do these places over book knowing they cannot cope, giving an terrible experience. Just taking the money no matter what. The food was OK, but cold which after the length of wait was not good enough, it felt like a night or torture just wanted to get out as quickly as possible, they were lucky we paid the bill, if i had the energy left to argue about it i would have!

Very dissapointed, we came for Christmas Day, all tables were crammed together so we could hardly move, the starters came after a long wait, we were missing some and the soup was just tinned soup heated up, we then waited an hour and a half from our starters to our main course. It took 20 minutes for them to serve it all as they had forgotten half of our people’s foods and everytime they came back they had forgotten something else. Two of our turkey dinners had no potato on it. Turkey dinner was disgusting, turkey was thick and dry, potatoes were mushy and very salty, nobody ate theirs, the Indian dishes were ok when we all finally had our food although some were on the cold side. We asked for desserts not long after as we just wanted to get out of there and didn’t want to be sat round another 2 hours. Well… the cheese and crackers, some had no grapes and the cheese had clearly been sat on the side as it was all rock hard and like rubber. The crackers were dry and had no butter, the Christmas pudding with custard was awful and so was the ice cream. Nobody ate their desserts. The atmosphere wasn’t the best, the air conditioning was broken so we were boiling, there was people everywhere and we were all crammed in so couldn’t move, the music was extremely loud so you couldn’t hear each other. We had 3 children with us who had their hands over their ears the whole time because of the noise. We were sat eating and staff were hoovering up around us and one kept getting elbowed in the head by staff walking past. The staff were just strolling around. We could hear other tables complaining that their was food missing. Clearly this restaurant overbooked. I don’t even want to say the price paid for 13 of us for Christmas dinner, but I can tell you it was not worth a penny, 3 of the family left early because of it all. It was so stressful that it would have been less stress, and far cheaper to cook a Christmas dinner at home for everyone. We will never be stepping foot in this place again. Made Christmas so stressful and ruined the day.

Very disappointed tonight meal booked for half 8 didn't get seated til 9 after much mithering. Had to then ask again at half 9 can we order food because they had a big party in and was more focused on them than us. Been here numerous times always been good but after tonight's episode will not be going again. One waiter in particular needs too up his skills with people waited at the bar to be served another customer turns up and I became invisible he went and served her. 🤬

Went to the Michael Jackson evening this year. Place was full but the food and service was amazing. Plates were hot and food excellent. The entertainment was absolutely fantastic. The waiters were polite and efficient. We went to the Elvis night last year, again was brilliant so we went back thus year. Can't praise them highly enough, absolutely top class.

The absolute BEST Indian to go to by FAR. I recommend going in and sitting down simply because the waiters are amazing and it’s a great experience! However, even on days when myself and my partner feel like an Indian, we will still order from here and drive to pick it up because we know nothing else will come close 😍 The whole restaurant is stunning too, and I love the pink blossom tree in the centre of the room 🌸

Best curry house by far. Highly recommend it.

The curries were not your apna style curries. Even though we requested for Asian style. There were ALOT of onions in the dishes and the sauce in them was very thick. We did request to change one out of the two we ordered but it came out the same.. they were all like a child’s curry. So bland and no spice or heat in them. We ordered a lamb dish as it says on the menu but it was beef when it came out??? The chips and rice were so small, they came out on nibble bowls. Overall the food was a huge let down, which was disappointing because me & my husband like to go out for a meal to treat ourselves and this place was not it. Unfortunately won’t be going back here again. Staff were accommodating and the service was okay

Had a great evening with a few friends last Friday at Purple Olive, everything was perfect from start to finish. We had a warm welcome from the staff who were very attentive and polite. The ambiance was great, a lovely place to dine in with delectable food and drinks. The staff and management were absolutely amazing making sure we had a great evening. I would definitely recommend Purple Olive, as the hospitality and food was excellent!

We often visit the Purple Olive as a family and have never had a bad meal there. Always good service, great quality authentic food and very friendly staff who always go out of their way to make sure our family has a great meal. Will continue to return regularly - thanks to Midge and all the team!

Called in food a curry with the family the place looks not bad and the food was average but we had chicken pakora which was minced chicken strange plus the curry I had the chicken was the exact size in every piece just did not look right make of this what you think but I will not be going back amaani in Ashton is well better and cheaper

Tonight I have had some of the finest curries I have ever eaten in my 63 years! Not only was the food delicious, the ambience was fantastic. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Our waiter, Miah, couldn’t do enough for us. He was attentive and happy whilst serving us. Service with a smile makes a huge difference to how your meal goes

Decor nice and nice staff but food could do with improvements, lots of use of red food colouring takes away from the flavour/quality. Wouldn't go back.

We went to this restaurant to help a close friend celebrate their birthday. Staff were very welcoming from arrival - there is a car park, but beware of potholes. We arrived at 6pm, and we noticed from the moment we arrived that many of the other customers were regulars who were known to the staff, and many had children with them. The place is clearly popular. Menu is quite extensive, with well described dishes, and staff are happy to help and advise. Desert was much more limited, with many of the options list on the menu not available - didn't bother me too much as I don't tend to go for desert in this sort of restaurant, but worth being aware of. Quality of the food was excellent - good size proportions very well cooked and presented.

First impressions - very small car park Not disabled friendly at all As we walked in was gorgeous Had to wait around 45 mins for a table even though we booked Service wasn’t the best but it was busy Took around 1 hour 30 for our mains to arrive , by the time it arrived we wasn’t hungry But we ate what we could , if you don’t mind waiting forever for your food id definitely return as it is nice once you get it , but the service is horrendous we wasn’t told or aware of the wait time Took 25 min from ordering just to get our drinks Then starters and mains came together around 1 hour 30 later Would I return ? Yeah if wait time wasn’t as long as it was as the prices and food is nice

Went here to celebrate a friends birthday. Was really surprised at this place being so close to home, 1st time here and was very happy From the service of walking into leaving was amazing. The food was absolutely 💯 👌 Couldn't fault it. They cater to vegetarians, and their menu is halal.

We ordered takeaway from here for the first time this evening for New Year! Absolutely amazing food! Arrived piping hot and every dish was delicious! Can’t wait to order again and maybe bring the extended family to come to the restaurant one day. Thank you.

The only Indian I order / eat at! Their korma is the best I ever had and my partner only ever orders the chicken chilli masala! Always cooked perfectly! The garlic chicken starter is always a must! Last minute Christmas Day order, went in and despite being as busy as they are they were happy to accommodate us! Lovely staff, friendly and always have time for you despite being rushed off their feet! Thank you!

Absolutely fantastic food,, amazing Indian food at reasonable prices, with large portions you will struggle to finish, just ask for a doggy box to take away any un-eaten food ,as food just too good to be left behind.

Had poppadoms nice and light and not greasy with a tongue tantalising mango slightly spiced chutney ..lamb chops really succulent and tasty and charred...king prawns that melt in your mouth with an amazing tandori flavour sauce juice ...fluffy and light onion rice accompanied by the chicken tikka machini that was nice and creamy with a perfect amount of up spice of which we asked for and they delivered perfectly.naan bread was perfectly charred as asked for .this is the first time in ages where every bit of food tasted was taste bud love ..we will definitely be going there again this time to sit in .
