Not much they can do about the atmosphere as it's in a market hall...first time we've tried this food and will definitely return

Incredible meal for lunch, portion size was very generous and the family who run this stall are incredibly nice and polite. Highly recommend to anybody who loves delicious food! Sobrang sarap!

Perhaps their food just isn’t suitable for takeaway? Partner purchased a rice and belly pork to eat the next day, unfortunately most was inedible, belly pork was mainly fat and the meaty bits very bland, tiny portion of sauce, rice was really bland too, at £11 an expensive mistake.

Cosy small kitchen in the middle of Ashton's market with hand made dishes and prepared just straight after you order. The food was well cooked, fresh and very flavoured, but the best part is the amount, if you are starving, this is the place for a reasonable price.

Ate here 29/06/24. Had a beef rice bowl, pork rice bowl and veg spring rolls. Pleasant service, awesome food. All the dishes were delicious and filling. Will definitely come here again. Cost about £30 for two adults including a couple of canned drinks.

Amazing authentic filipino food that you can tell is made with so much love and reminded me of home! Had the pork sisig and my girlfriend tried the chicken adobo. It was so good it made me forget my trauma of my mum calling me fat for finishing my food so quick 👍👍

Food was really good. The Chicken Katsu was delicious and served hot with a decent portion. The seating is basic but in the middle of a market so can't complain. Highly recommended.

Tasty food and friendly service. I had the pork sisig and pork lumpia which were both good. I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have tried the chicken adobo too. I guess I’ll have to go back for that! It’s located in the corner of the indoor market, next to the egg stall and Entrance 3.

Not the best. Microwave and deep fat fryer. No woks or fresh cooking in sight... Spring rolls were very, greasy . I was very disappointed given the reviews . Soft drinks rip off.

This place is amazing! We went for lunch today and everything was so tasty.....we live over an hour away but it is definitely worth the trip. Love the chicken adobo, and my son said the chicken noodles were the best he had ever eaten!!

Best Chicken adobo around (hope the wife doesn't read this ...eek ) lovely tender zero fat zero gristle and a beautiful sauce lasted me two meals 😉

Really loved the food, will go back again. Took ~20 minute wait at lunchtime, unfortunately.

This place is nothing short of amazing! The food is delicious (we’ve tried every meal) and the service is second to none. It’s only Wednesday and I’ve already had it for lunch twice this week. The only negative for us, is that it isn’t in a shop that do take away in the evenings as we would definitely order EVERY week!

Just amazing, we happily bumped into this fabulous place when exploring Ashton market. We had a feeling someone had mentioned it in a positive way, the smells coming from the open kitchen were delicious and we were lucky enough to be passing when a table freed up. So the planets seemed to have aligned, and we were in for a treat. The authentic and most delicious Adobo chicken and the Tapsilog Beef were sublime. The service was nothing short of welcoming and can only be compared to being welcomed into someones home. Salamat, we will definitely be visiting again.

I visited Tarps yesterday for the 2nd time, and decided to have the traditional Spanish inspired minced beef dish Picadillo. It looked pretty on serving, colourful, and well presented. Upon tucking in, I was met with a very subtle flavour, it was on first taste quite pleasant, but there was something not quite right in the aftertaste. I've worked with food for years and all I could think of was that it had been premade and frozen maybe then refrozen. Anyway I've eaten frozen before at cafes so I carried on tucking in. Other than the off putting aftertaste the initial flavour was good, but I should have listened to my self more. Today I have been quite unwell, I woke in the middle of the night with stomach cramps and seen the results all morning today. I had toast for breakfast that day, and pasta, olive oil and red peppers cooked fresh for tea, so its not those eats. I don't usually like to leave reviews like this, but they need to be careful, because I'm not sure I can do what I had planned today as a result of my decision to eat there yesterday. Rant over.

The food in here is great, and comes in decent sized portions. Lots of flavour in the foodand cooked well. Would recommend to anyone.

Tasty Filipino food - handy for lunch!

Visited the other week for a late lunch and sadly there was no more tocilog so we ordered the lechon kawali, chicken katsu and veg lumpia. Lechon kawali & the lumpia was delicious as always so can't fault those but the katsu was very disappointing - chicken breast (rather than thigh) & the curry was thin, watery and not particularly flavourful. Would advise diners to stick to the pork dishes like tocilog & lechon as the katsu left much to be desired.

We go to this place often and it's always absolutely gorgeous!!! I cannot say enough nice things about this place. The food is fantastic, the people are lovely and the price is reasonable. I recommend them to everyone ❤️

Visited again for lunch & ordered tapsilog, veg lumpia & chicken noodles. Tapsilog was a good portion - garlic rice wasn't very garlicky, beef was a tad tough but tasty & I liked the addition of the fried egg. Veg lumpia was well filled, freshly fried & yummy - who can say no to spring rolls, right?? 😋😋😋😋 Chicken noodles were mildly seasoned but tasted good, and had a nice texture. All in all, another lovely meal at Tarp's. After trying quite a few things on their menu, the standout dishes for us are the pork dishes - tocilog & lechon. Definitely worth a visit as you're unlikely to be disappointed!

I saw many videos about how good this place was for food which gave me good expectations for the food. I went to this place on a chilly Saturday and it was so busy I couldn't sit in I had to order take out. They allowed me to place the order and return to pay. They also allowed me to pay by card as I was a little worried since it was an inside market place. What I ordered was tapsilog , picadillo and chicken Adobo. Regarding the food I had the chicken adobo first, it was so good I told my partner that I would give it a 9/10 and that I would live off this if I had the opportunity. The reason for the high rating is that when I ate it the chicken was soft and cooked just right and the rice was cooked to perfection. was so good, nice and delicious that I was considering to. My second one was the picadillo and what it contained was rice and philippino style chilli. When I ate it I felt like I was eating an alternative to chilli con carne which I LOVE. However, only because I had the famous adobo first I told my partner that I would give it an 8/10 only but it was very close. My final dish was the tapsilog, regarding this my partner told me something very interesting about this dish that it was considered to be an everyday breakfast and I was quite surprised. However, what it contained was a couple stripes of beef with some rice, a sunny side up egg and salad to top it off. When I ate it the food was good but I am a person that doesn't like dry food and when I saw it I thought it was dry but I gave it a chance and it was very good considering it didn't contain any sauce. Overall experience I would give it a 8/10

Tried Tarp's for the first time this week. It's quite difficult to find Filipino food in Manchester so we were glad to be able to sample the dishes. Ordered tocilog, lumpia, lechon & chicken adobo. The lumpia were whole green chillies wrapped in mince pork and a spring roll skin and fried - thankfully not blow your head spicy so we had them with some sriracha. The tocilog was really flavourful and it was a good amount of meat we got. Fried egg was also v welcome. Lechon was generous and crisp though it was served with the sauce over it - would have been better if this was separate & people could choose whether to dip the belly pork in it. Chicken adobo was tasty (I love thigh meat!) but as it was soya sauce based, the flavour was less interesting and it was a tad salty. Overall we really enjoyed the food at Tarp's. 4 out of 5 star is coz of the small niggles as mentioned above. Also the garlic rice didn't taste v garlicky & was re heated, so that was disappointing. It would also have been good if we had the option of ordering the meat dishes without the rice. We saw a few people ordering the noodles & veggie spring rolls which looked good so it would be good to revisit in future & try those as well as the tapsilog. Give this place a try when you're visiting Ashton market!

WOW!!! We absolutely loved Tarps, it was our 1st time trying authentic Filipino food and we were blown away with Tarps. We tried 5 dishes and all were amazing, but the best was the Lechon Kawali, we will be dreaming about that crispy pork belly was the stuff dreams are made off

Had both the picadillo and pork sisig now, both were superb. This place has truly the best street food out there. I WILL be back.

Great service very quick. Priced very reasonable decent amount of food. I think there could be more salad but it was very fresh a had flavour which you most certainly don't get often. Texture of chicken was different but very tasty as was the rice. I'll be back to try the spring rolls.

I've walked past this little eatery in Ashton Market Hall lots of times, but today I decided to give it a try. I opted for the Chicken Adobo and I'm glad I did. The chicken reminded me of my mum's slow-cooked casserole dish because the chicken just fell apart and melted in my mouth. I asked for the spicy version. It was served on a bed of perfectly cooked saffron rice and with a freshly prepared side salad. Absolutely delicious! The portion size was spot on for a lunch and it only cost a fiver. Highly recommended.
