Went on the basis of other reviews and was not at all disappointed. The mackerel baps were brilliant as were the fried potatoes. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned and all from friendly staff. 10/10

We were looking for somewhere to have dinner on the beach for our last night on holiday. This place was incredible and the staff so friendly and helpful. The mackerel bap with skinny coleslaw was so fresh and tasty and fantastic value. It was the perfect meal for on the beach. Followed by grilled banana, strawberries, marshmallows, hazelnuts, cream and marshmallows! The setting was perfect, especially in the evening when the sun was going down. We followed our meal with a walk on the beach and can say it was the perfect end to our holiday.

Visit Carylon Bay for the sandy beach, enjoy the view, take advantage of the water sports hire and the beach bar... BUT ABSOLUTELY get some delicious, freshly prepared food from this great new venture... incredible flavours of Asia with fresh Cornish produce, fish, seafood etc... the mackerel bap with salsa, amazing coleslaw full of herbs, and a side of potato bravas with delicious spicy mayo were just a perfectly balanced flavour treat.. other dishes on offer.. a green Thai mussel curry, ( the spice and sauce for this was being prepared as we watched so you know it’s full of fresh ingredients and goodness) a grilled aubergine burger and Thai fish cakes all look great. Prices are excellent value.. there’s nothing not to like... make the trip if you are anywhere close to the area.. good parking at the top of the hill above the beach, steep flight of steps to get down to the sea. Good luck and every success to the owners!

Visiting St Austell, we were surprised to find a little huddle on small businesses including a bar, and several food outlets, on the beach, with a nearby car park.. I happened to choose Purple Oyster, which served fish in baps. I really enjoyed the mackeral sandwich, enhanced with olives and a salad. My wife was equally impress with the fish finger sandwich. Both were tasty. It was made even more enjoyable by sitting alfresco on a warm spring evening with the sea lapping the beach. The couple running it were pleasant, chatty and keen to talk about the food and asking our opinions. Perfect setting and very memorable for what, at the end of the day, was only a 'snack'.

Lovely country pub, with lovely friendly and welcoming staff members, the food was some of the best we ate during our holiday. There is a little play area outside also for the children to keep them entertained which was great bonus.

A fantastic stay in a picturesque location, beautiful views from the rooms and restaurant. Friendly welcoming staff and clean rooms. The dog welcome box in the rooms is a brilliant idea aswell as the room names with references to the hotels history. Safe parking under the hotel which even managed to fit my van inside. A nice green area to the side to walk the dog in the morning was also useful. We have stayed once to see friends and it was so nice I stayed again a couple of weeks later for work.
