Punchbowl in Craven

We had the good fortune of dropping into The Punch Bowl for lunch after a morning walk from nearby Ingleton in nice sunshine. The good weather allowed us to make use of the fantastic beer garden, which has a lovely patio section and a series of picnic tables in a very pretty garden overlooking the nearby fields. Our 18 month old thoroughly enjoyed himself running around on the grass!The Punch Bowl is a pretty pub with a surprisingly extensive menu which, as a party of seven adults, we made good use of. All the food was delicious and of course the pub has a nice selection of ale/cider and other drinks to choose from (the White Wine Soda was particularly impressive).Overall very nice place to stop for lunch, friendly staff and lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere.

During a countryside walk we stopped off for drinks. A very traditional pub but with a great garden to the rear and charming staff. We were sorry not to be able to stay for lunch. The food looked great.

We popped in here whilst passing through the village and enjoyed a good beer and a nice glass of wine in their large pleasant beer garden. The pub was very quiet but it was a Sunday lunch time. We were greeted by a very friendly lady behind the bar. There is a really good selection of gins and they had some good hand pulled ales on too. Looking forward to coming back.

This was recommended to us and it was absolutely incredible. From start to finish we were made to feel so welcome. We had fillet steaks that were cooked to absolute perfection. Definitely one of the best meals that we have ever eaten. Dessert was to die for, sticky toffee pudding We would definitely eat here again if we are ever in the area.

From the welcome to the farewell our visit was superb. We enjoyed a delicious light lunch and drinks in the beer garden. Nice people and good company made it well worth our decision to stop here. Enjoy!

We visited as a family (8 of us) for Mother's Day lunch and had a delicious lunch.The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly - including to our dog!

After a week of bitter cold and snow it was great to go out and have lunch here. We are so lucky that this is our local , within 5 minutes of the front door. As always, the welcome was as warm as the real fire and with the new decor looking so attractive too. I had my favourite G&T , spoilt for choice but settled for my favourite ‘The One’ from The Lakeland Distillery at Bassenthwaite and Fentimans tonic. Theakstons draft bitter for my husband , who loves real ale and is so pleased our pub is now a free house with beers from local breweries. My husband enjoyed traditional roast beef with all the trimmings including lovely Yorkshire puds and veg including cauliflower cheese. I was delighted to see one of my favourites on the specials board - Home made fish pie which was really delicious and included prawns. No room for a pud each so Tony chose sticky toffee pudding and I pinched some to eat with my cafetière of Farrers coffee. Thank you again to Heather and Mick and staff for another excellent meal.

This is a wee gem of a local pub, just newly refurbished. A great atmosphere with roaring fire and smiling faces greeted us as we entered, in out of the perishing winter weather. Our Sunday Roasts were delicious and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We noticed on our way out that there was a fabulous terrace and garden out the back, however due to the inclement weather we did not venture out. I highly recommend.

It's 4 years since we last visited this pub. It's had new owners for the last 2 years, and they've done a lot of work refreshing the place. Very pleasant surroundings, with nice colours and lighting. Friendly staff and good food. Certainly worth visiting if you are staying nearby.

First visit to this pub, although it will not be the last. The service from the welcoming lady serving the drinks and bringing our meal was outstanding. The lamb burger was delicious as was the fish and chips. Definately would be visiting again. Oh I nearly forgot the lovely real fire added to the relaxed atmosphere.

Been here a couple of times now and been really happy with my experience here. The beer selection is on point and the lovely garden in the back compliments it during the summer time when the sun is bearing down! Food was brilliant, I had steak and it was exactly how I wanted it cooked. Will keep returning here!

Lovely friendly locals pub which welcomes tourists. We had a beautiful cooked evening meal ... I had Steak and hubby had the freshly cooked homemade Pie plus we managed puddings too. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and even suggested a lovely Christmassy drink of Blackberry Gin to go with my pudding which was delicious. All excellent.

Enjoyed the real ale and fresh food, the burger appeared home made and the bacon was thin and crispy, the way it should be on a burger. Will remember and be back next time I'm up this way.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch very tasty and nicely served ,Profiteroles for sweet were to die for. Had good choice of drinks including guns with different mixers roaring log fire very cosy but shut Monday's.

We locals love it. If you're passing through or staying locally on holiday, call in. You'll get a great welcome, good food and real ale.

This is such a nice pub -- if you're in the area it's well worth a visit. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we walked in, & the beer & food were excellent. The prices too struck us as very fair (e.g. many mains around £10). A particularly nice touch was the luxury soaps etc in the toilets. All in all, a very good pub that we'll visit again when next in the area.

We stayed in burton in Lonsdale wkd 13-16 Oct with our cocker spaniel. This pub was a stone throw away and dog friendly so we had to give it a try and we are so glad we did. On the fri night we popped in for a few drinks early doors. This pub is small and quaint but the staff were instantly friendly towards us and our dog. They brought over water and a small bowl of dog treats (very nice touch). Prices were reasonable and will bring drinks to your table.

We called into the punch bowl tonight for a meal, it was recommended to us by the lady at the B&B; we were staying at. I had the nicest steak I have ever had it was cooked perfectly! the pub was lovely the locals were really friendly and the staff couldn't do enough for us, even bringing water and treats our for our 2 little frenchies!

Couldn't fault this pub! Visited while on holiday with some friends in the village. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious - homely, well cooked and well presented and all at a very reasonable price. Liked it so much we will probably return before our holiday is over!

Great that the Punch Bowl has been taken on by an experienced couple and is thriving - a great village pub - staff are very welcoming and the food was freshly cooked and tasty. Good pub food - with a few extra options - all good value!

Ate here 2 nights out of our 6 night stay in the area and both times the quality of the food was outstanding. Steak was cooked to perfection. I requested new potatoes instead of chips and that was no trouble. The food arrived at the table hot and staff were keen to ensure everything was as we wanted.

As we were staying in the village, the Punch Bowl was recommended for dinner and proved to be very good quality and value. The Landlord and Landlady are very welcoming and really like dogs. Attention to detail is first class with honest pub grub and excellent cleanliness. Recommended.

The decor is a bit tired - but who cares! The welcome was warm in this child and dog friendly pub. The service was excellent, as was the food. It was good to chat with the lady who served us, and to exchange local knowledge. Can highly recommend the brown shrimps on a crumpet as a starter, and the mains were delicious, too. We didn't have room for a dessert ! Can highly recommend.

We stopped for a pint and stayed for a great dinner, fabulous food, great value and service. Thank you, hope to be back!

had a meal here early on a Friday evening and found the staff really friendly and welcoming-I had the steak which was ok-I had exchanged the chips it normally comes with for mash which was nice-for some reason the chef felt compelled to throw half a pound of peas onto the plate which I did not order and left-the mushrooms were cooked to dust and were stone cold-it always amazes me how someone can think its ok to send cold cremated food out to a customer-the desert was lovely which was salted caramel profiteroles and cream-

Vacaciones en Burton-en - última semana lonsdale y este lugar estaba a 5 minutos a pie de donde estábamos.

Nos dejó sin reserva en una noche de miércoles con nuestros 4 perros y aunque en realidad eran pic nos dieron una cálida bienvenida, rápidamente nos hizo una mesa y dieron a los perros y un tazón de agua y algunas galletas.

Had lunch there on Mothers Day. Great service and great food. Good value for money. As it was Mothers Sunday every mother received a complementary small box of chocolates...a nice touch.

Ours was a very quick lunchtime visit a few weeks ago. We were first through the door and were welcomed by the landlord. And I mean welcomed. Very friendly. The food is good, wholesome, and tasty. The pies and puddings very welcome.

Nos estábamos hospedando en Ingleton y caminamos por los campos y encontré este maravilloso y antiguo pub de moda que sirve una buena cerveza y de recto-pub. Qué encontrar. Nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos con noticias locales, artículos de periódicos en el Ladies y un poco de charla con los lugareños. Fue la atención al detalle en un antiguo camino recto. Nos sentamos en el jardín para ver una variedad de aves diferentes en los diversos alimentadores de aves. Muy relajante.

We were staying overnight in Burton-in-Lonsdale and headed here for our evening meal. The staff are really friendly and there was a lovely open fire. The food was good with generous portions and very decent prices.

Ambiente relajado con un personal amable. Pudimos coger el perro, lo cual era una ventaja. La comida era buenísima. Dos de nosotros tuvimos pollo al curry supremo que era delicioso, gambas y mi hija que es vegetariana tenía garbanzos al curry. Bien de precio y altamente reserva ya no muchas mesas

Visited a number if times as we have purchased a caravan at goodenbergh recently. This pub is welcoming, with the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. Food is freshly cooked and delicious. Ten out if ten, this so far is the best in the area.

We eat here on spec and had an OK meal, I had scampi and chips and it tasted quite nice. I would eat here again but would not rush back as it is quite ordinary. No real negatives.

La comida es casera, saludable y una buena mezcla de vegatarian, gluten y también mucho para los amantes de la carne también... No puedo recomendar este lugar...

Hace poco leí la reseña anterior y no podía entender los comentarios como en el Punch Bowl dos veces durante el fin de semana y comimos la tarta casera de pescado y el venado burger ambos estaba buenísimo. Había una selección limitada que prefiero como esta muestra que es hecha a la orden y el precio era muy razonable. Me senté en el jardín de la cerveza con mi marido y pude ver a la cocina mientras el chef cocinamos nuestra comida fresca. Definitivamente volveré de nuevo.

Yo estaba en el pueblo con la familia y decidimos ir a comer. La comida era muy pobre, no pub grub básico una gran selección, no caseros y caros. Dicho esto, el servicio y las bebidas estaban bien. No volveremos, ya que hay muchos otros buenos pubs comida en la zona.

It is the only pub in the village and there you get to know the whole village very soon. The owners are very experienced and the food is the better level classical bar food. A place to enjoy.

Habíamos parado para tomar una bebida allí hace unos años y me pareció muy acogedor, así que volví la semana pasada durante su estancia con la caravana localmente. Personal muy amable y residentes, ambiente relajante y buena comida de pub. El pastel de carne con cerveza era carne y rica, sin duda recomendable. Como es la lasaña de verduras. Tendrás que reservar un sábado, nos tuvimos suerte ya que fui temprano y después de comprobarlo con la cocina eran poner en nosotros, pero otros fueron rechazados pronto después. Un pueblo encantador con un pequeño pub.

Nos sentamos en el jardín de la cerveza muy atractivo y disfrutamos de una comida de 3 platos. Tuve camarones en macetas en un precioso - le - Tienda crumpet vigilar esa idea. Mi marido tenía una charcutería carnes entrante que disfrutó con pan tostado de la masa agria. Luego tuve una ensalada césar con pollo, él tenía una hamburguesa con queso € por pijo y tocino en una hamburguesa con ensalada y brioch chips. Todos recién hechos, atractiva y deliciosa. Finalmente frambuesa fresca pavlova. Este es mi 'local', así que estamos encantados de regresar la próxima semana con la familia.

We have used The Punch Bowl several times when travelling in the area for the best of reasons. A friendly pub with great food ,good beer and a nice atmosphere.Consequently it is a reliable favourite of ours which we will continue to use.

Comimos allí dos veces el fin , en ambas ocasiones la comida era muy buena en especial el estofado lleno budín de Yorkshire ... no desechos de grasa. El recién toda rota eglefino y las patatas fritas eran también muy sabroso. El servicio fue excelente. Nos alojamos en Ingleton pero vale la pena el corto trayecto en coche.

We visited this pub a couple of times while staying in the area. We found on both occasions that we were served good fresh home cooked food, well priced and served promptly. Friendly service and comfortable.

Este es el pub con todo! encargado de ambiente que hace que su visita merece la pena. La comida es excelente, con varias opciones disponibles, todo casero y el personal es amable y profesional. Mi pareja y yo visitamos el Punch Bowl una húmeda y ventoso noche de noviembre para comer durante su estancia localmente en Ingleton. Nos recibió un amable miembro del personal y se sentó con nuestros menús. El pub era agradable y cálido, un fuego de carbón rugiendo en el extremo más lejano del pub. el ambiente era tranquilo y agradable tan pronto como entramos. Ambos nos pidió el budín de Yorkshire con gran salchichas, patatas y verduras. Esperamos una media hora para llegar a la comida - que creo que es la cantidad de tiempo perfecta para disfrutar de una bebida antes de comer - también muestra que la comida recién hecha. La comida era perfecta para calentar en el horrible fuera de tiempo, 3 grandes salchichas en un gran budín de Yorkshire, que eran todos los sabores diferentes. La comida era deliciosa y todo el personal era muy amable y servicial. Sin duda recomiendo una visita, si en la zona.

Comimos allí tres veces a principios de septiembre - 3 maravillosas comidas!! Precios/de buena relación calidad-precio. Personal y la gente muy amable. Buen menú y un gran ambiente. Segundo año para nosotros y esperamos volver. Déjese sorprender por las pocas críticas negativas - supongo que cosas van mal en ocasiones, como en ningún otro sitio. No puedo decir lo suficiente de la Punch Bowl.

Vinieron para la cena con cuatro adultos y un niño. Menú era bueno, y la comida era rápido y estaba preparado a pedido. Giant Yorkshire pudding con carne y cerveza abundante y patatas fritas era encantador. La comida es buena para el precio. Servicio amable, servicial y atento. selección de cervezas y sidras excelente. Como el único pub restante en Burton, sin duda apoya esta en mi próxima vienen de vacaciones y otros deben también. Los pubs locales en los pequeños pueblos son la savia de la comunidad y sería una pena ver pasar. El esfuerzo de personas locales para comprar el pub y lo llevan como una cooperativa es una gran idea, que ha trabajado bien para salvar la tienda del pueblo. stayed in b+b in village + ate in punch bowl both nights-perfect for what we wanted-locals + staff made us feel really welcome.food good but not too posh like some small village places .we did book just to make sure not disappointed as was the only place in village to eat i think,. i had read reviews which said food a while coming so we just made sure weren't absolutely starving when arrived but it wasnt too bad and the young women staff especially really couldnt do enough for us

Estamos aquí dos noches ya que estábamos localmente y para ser sincero, no de devuelto si no era en ningún otro sitio. La primera noche fue aceptable, pero segunda noche era vergonzoso. Reservamos una mesa para las 18:00 y fue 7:50 antes de nuestro plato principal vino a nosotros. mayoría de las comidas estaban bien, pero uno en particular era mis hijas que pedimos un bistec medio. que salió y fue como el cuero. Volví la comida y fue reemplazar con un raro bistec tan nuevo que no podía comer, ya que había sangre en su plato. Yo no me importaba el envío a una segunda vez. Nosotros sólo pagamos la cuenta y a la izquierda. Es una pena, ya que el entorno y ambiente personal del bar/los camareros son maravillosos.

Nuestra familia (dos adultos y dos niños) tenía una comida agradable en este cálido y agradable pub. bistec precioso pastel completo hasta los topes de suculentos de licitación carne muy agradable - pero sólo unos 10 patatas! Aunque estaban muy bien también, tuvimos que pedir otro plato para compartir los cuatro de nosotros. arrived in the village, booked table for 8pm. ordered food at 8.20 got food at 9.40 and that was after asking how long it would be as we had a diabetic in the party who had to eat by a certain time, she was offered crisps or sugary tea..... shocking. then eventually the starters arrived soup was lacking in seasoning and very bland, prawn cocktail tasted like it was out of a jar, nachos were burnt and tasteless with very little cheese on top. main meals again we had a long wait these arriving the sweet and sour chicken tasted like uncle bens sauce, steak and ale pie was basic and the pastry was overdone, the pan fried chicken was passable but the sauce had started to separate.... the chips on all dishes didn't taste at all home made and salad on all plates was limp and warm like it was yesterdays....this place is a disgrace the girl behind the bar should have went and tried to help the kitchen staff instead of standing rubbing her cheeks and telling us false times of when to expect our food, well how stupid to you have to be to offer a diabetic crisps or sugary tea instead of just going and heating up her soup..... Lets just say we will not be back, disappointing start to our holiday in the area, in fact they were lucky they even got paid.

Great village pub, friendly staff very reasonably priced considering it is the only pub around, again just around the corner from River Cottage

Once again a really good week of meals at the Punchbowl. Food is good and Sue and her staff are so welcoming and friendly.. I thoroughly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Visita regularmente. Gran pub tradicional. cervezas. Estufa a leña. El personal es muy amable. Si Ring que reservar una mesa. Si necesita una silla alta, entonces, sin duda Ring reservar, ya que creo que solo tienen 1. La comida es casera, con patatas fritas y me encanta los aros de cebolla. Gran whitebate. Nada es demasiado problema. Mi hijo y su familia había reservado y estaban atrasados, se llamó el pub y explicó que llegaría después servicio de comida terminó, esto no había problema y 9 personas estaban aprecié mucho alimentado y regado con un alto nivel de calidad. Tiene un gran jardín de la cerveza en el perros. manso son bienvenidas.

Vivimos localmente y en ocasiones llamada "té" en el Punch Bowl, cuando nos visite, siempre hay gente así como los turistas para comer o beber. Siempre una cálida bienvenida. La comida es genial, bien de precio y el servicio amable y eficiente. Nuestra visita ayer no fue una excepción. Sirven comida desde las 5 pm donde como muchos pequeños bares no siempre comienza a las 6:00 de la tarde - bueno para familias con hijos pequeños.

Stayed near by and enjoyed a 10 min walk through the fields to the local we enjoyed a nice pint and a sunday roast the food was very nice and reasonably priced would visit again as we did on a couple of evenings

Llegamos en Manchester en un avión y nos fuimos finales hogar de Yorkshire tratando de encontrar un pub que nos sirviera como comida de pub. Era festivo y 'fueron lo siento, nos dejaron de servir a 8' y así sucesivamente, hasta que probamos el Punchbowl bajo Street en Burton. Esto está a sólo 3 km de mi casa y nunca había estado allí antes. ¡Volveremos! La bienvenida fue cálida y había un ambiente alegre dentro con varias personas todavía comer. El servicio era amable y la variedad de la comida era buena. Me llevé a casa llevar el menú que tiene Scampi, eglefino, pizzas y curry, pero en el pub nos sirvieron una buena botella de vino tinto con nuestros bistecs de sobresaliente, patatas asadas, gambas, patatas fritas y ensalada. Es un pequeño pub encantador de la 'drive' calle principal a través, con sólo unas pocas plazas de aparcamiento, pero bien merece la pena una visita.

No soy normalmente se traslada a revisar la visita a un pub pero ya que estábamos en la zona al mismo tiempo que las personas que dejaron las anteriores críticas negativas, me pareció que sería justo para dar una vista alternativa.
