A nice pub with a great food and drink offering - it was pretty full on a Saturday night, and the atmosphere was lovely. We stayed for a drink and a chat and I enjoyed my stay. Slightly on the expensive side. All I got was a picture of the loos 🥲.

Called in to Punch tavern at the end of our Fleet Street bar tour. It’s either first or last whichever way you go. But it’s one certainty not to be missed., it has a wide variety of largers and beers served to you by knowledgeable friendly staff. It had a great buzz about the place around lunchtime, unfortunately we did not try the food but others looked to be enjoying it. I will certainly be back

The pub itself is comfortable, in a good location, dog-friendly and the staff are nice. The fish was a bit too greasy but the skin-on-chips and halloumi fries were nice. I wasn't so happy with the 12.5% service charge when you go up to the counter yourself to order but I only realised after I paid, also the prices on their website don't match the prices on their menus unfortunately.

On 5/8/24 approximately 8pm as a group of 4 we took a couple from Austria to experience the delights of an authentic old London pub. Unfortunately we were completely dissatisfied with not only the service but poor quality of food . When I requested a more tentative service having to leave my dinner to request our drinks to be replenished and have some condiments I faced an abrupt response from the shorter dark barmaid , she remarked we’re short staffed and expecting that somehow I should have been aware ? ? ….the appalling meal which wasn’t served together, we had to wait awhile for the 4th plate before starting. I was embarrassed and could only apologise to our visitors and my friend regarding the poor quality of the fried fish dripping in oil and soggy , and the schnitzel which he was tasteless and had a texture similar to a stiff piece of rubber disguised in breadcrumbs . Good luck 🤞

Extremely disappointed in the service and lack of customer care. I came here for a quick meal before going to nearby theatre. I ordered a Caesar salad, after being clearly asked about allergies and stating that I am celiac and even being diverted away from dishes incase of them containing gluten. Therefore when ordering the salad it was clear I needed any bread or croutons to be removed. My food came with ignorance and no consideration, and as you can see in the photo, filled with bread and croutons ( on the napkin ) . I spoke to the staff when he brought the rest of our order and explained the issue. It was completely disregarded, and the gentleman literally said: "Is there anything else I can do for you?!" No apology or offer to replace the dish.... My friend and I witnessed them discussing the situation between the staff members and nobody cared to apologise or acknowledge the severity of this. Staff are simply ticking company boxes and ignoring health conditions. Not my best £64 spent.

This is one of London's most historic pubs; Punch was named in the 1840s after the popular magazine of the same name. The employees of which frequented the pub as it was so close by. The entrance corridor of this pub is amazing with its glorious Victorian tiles and mosaics. The Punch, has been elegantly restored, preserves its original period charm, boasting a full Victorian Bar and an exclusive rear dining room, perfect for hosting private events. The menu is comperatively priced and the bar speciality is Gin! We called in at Lunch Time; it was not too busy and we were served very quickly. A wonderful historic pub located on Fleet Street with great service, excellent food and a good selection of beers. This Grade Il listed former gin palace dates from the 1890s and is notable for its Jacobean revival ornamentation and dramatic roof lantern over the front bar. An earlier pub on the site had originally been called the Crown and Sugar Loaf but around 1840 was renamed the Punch Tavern in homage to regular drinkers from the nearby offices of Punch magazine (look out for the paintings of Mr and Mrs Punch in the tiled entrance). In the C20 a row between co-managers caused the pub to split in two, the other half being located right behind this one and having taken up the Crown and Sugar Loaf name again.

One of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. Upon arrival, I enquired about gluten-free options and I was informed that my choices were limited to either steak and chips or a salad. Opting for what seemed like the heartier option, I selected the steak and chips. To my dismay, when the dish arrived, it fell far short of expectations. The (badly cooked) steak was accompanied by a meager and withered salad, with no sign of the promised chips or any sauce. Bewildered, I questioned the staff about the discrepancy, only to be told that chips and sauce contained gluten. What baffled me even more was the fact that the dish had been marked as entirely gluten-free in their allergen folder. When I pointed out this inconsistency, the response I received was far from satisfactory. The staff member brushed off their responsibility, stating, "I’m not responsible for the allergen sheet." This blatant disregard for accountability and customer satisfaction is nothing short of unprofessional. Aside from my nightmare of a dish, the quality of the food itself left much to be desired. Even my colleagues, who ate regular meals, found the food to be mediocre at best. In conclusion, our experience was marred by incompetence, indifference, and subpar food quality.

If you know your streets in London you will know that Fleet Street was famous for it publication and printing of newspapers. The fantastic pub is name after the Punch Tavern, not after Punch and Judy but after the Punch magazine, who had their offices nearby on Fleet Street. It has a wonderful entrance hall with it’s original mosaic tile floor, and once inside a very unusual and unique glass dome roof. The pub itself claims to have a choice of over 100 gins but also has a full stock of other spirits, beers and wines. On my visit it was card only, no cash was exchanged (shame to see the downfall of the Great British Pound) there was a lovely choice of food on the menu and a nice dinning room towards the rear of the pub, lots of staff behind the bar, so little of no wait for drinks and I could here lots of polite exchanges when customers were asking about the building. Fantastic pub, should definitely be on your London pub, bucket list.

My wife and I had just toured the Dr. Johnson House and were kind of looking for a spot to have a bite to eat as we strolled down Fleet Street. Christmas lunch for our team of 33 yesterday was above excellence. Stepping up to the balcony where just our team were sitting, my first vision of the area layout was excellent, with all decorations and enhancements that would be expected at Christmas time. Our tables were in groups rather than one long table, this was ideal for us and worked out very well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, seating comfortable and so very cozy. We had three courses, each pre-selected course had good options to choose from. Dietary requirements were of no problem to them and were adhered to, this was certainly a 5 Star lunch and 5 Star service, for me it was the best turkey dinner I'd had for some time, courses were delivered with a good rest period between each one, no rushing, and the staff were very attentive. All in all, we all had a wonderful Christmas lunch, not one complaint, all enjoyed their meal, we would certainly go again.
