This spot if great if you have lunch it has quick service and I have had some great food and drinks in here .So you need to come here and it has great atmosphere around.

Great hospitality from Elton this morning. Spotless and clean, good atmosphere Perfect first stop in Convent Gareden😊

Good service and freindly atmosphere. Perfect area around the pub and a cosy enviroment. Not too loud music who we prefere(oldies).

When I’m in London, I always go to Punch and Judy for fish and chips and a beer. It’s a place I really like. Last time, I met the manager, who was very kind to us.

Excellent food and service hadn't been lately as my wife is unwell and can't walk far Elton and masala greeted me like an old friend best fish and chips in town thank alan

Went for a drink on Bank Holiday Monday and it was busy in the upstairs bar. Seeing just 1 member of staff behind the bar, we did think we could be in for poor service. However what we witness over the next couple of hours was a masterclass by Chris. Speedy service, kept the queue moving, friendly and when it went quiet he was around the tables picking up empty glasses - he never stopped! Thank you Chris!

Popped in to reminsce with my partner - had visited here in 1989- and ended up telling her and the Barman how when working in Covent garden as a 21 year old we would pop in on our lunch breaks for a couple of Black Russians ( the shot ) Wonderful pub, packed with happy punters, great selection of drinks- my partner highly recommends the Bachus wine, I had a few Estrella Galacia ( I know ! ) You CANNOT go to Covent garden and not going into the Punch and Judy. Head upstairs to the terrace, grab a drink from the bar and sit on the balcony watching the world go by. I will definitely be back, I just won't wait so long to visit again...

We went for pre lunch drinks and sat in the pleasant outside area. You can hear the great opera singer next door doing their thing, and the whole ambience is very pleasant. The staff are friendly and service is prompt. At £8 a pint its the west end at its most fierce, but if you can face the price its a great pub to spend time in.

Booked a table there for our anniversary, and the evening kind of got ruined. Cocktails were tasteless, food was bad and when I tried to mention it to staff they were adamant it was the way it should be. They were not willing to help at all.Quite rude actually. The whole experience was very disappointing. I would NOT recommend! and it is not cheap either!!!! for quite a low-quality food and drinks...

What is the point in booking when you can't guarantee a seat in a particular area for a maximum of 4 people per table? I can see why this place has availability just a week ahead - the people on the phone are curt and unhelpful. Glad I bothered to check TripAdvisor before bothering - not how I remember it to be.

Absolutely disgrace for a pub. Having looked for a welcoming pub with an indoor section we stumbled upon the Punch and Judy. We so lived to regret it. The place reeks and I mean absolutely should be shut down because of the stench of sewage and drains. We ordered drinks and were told by the next table that you get used to it. This certainly wasn’t the case and after 2 sips of a drink my stomach began to churn as it felt like the smell affected the taste. Actually it’s because the drinks were revolting. Don’t order aperol spritz here. We left and the rest of the evening was ruined. Don’t go to a soulless, characterless place like this.

We booked a 3 pm table for sister cocktails on our day out in London and looked forward to relaxing in Covent Garden. Upon arrival we were lead down to the basement & presented a table in the most dungeon cave area of the pub surrounded by drunk noisy shouting young men. Left to our own devices and told we could order via the app we sat confused as to why we decided to pre-book such a table! After some struggling downloading the app we ordered two gin/Prosecco cocktails. They arrived in small wineglasses and we’re not worth the £8.99 each we paid for them! We decided very quickly that we would just stay for one drink and told the dismissive bartender that he could have his table back! He turned his back on me when we told him so and was not at all interested in the fact we did not enjoy our experience. With some lovely outdoor seating and more nice seating upstairs in the bar it seems a shame that we were placed in such a dingy dark area after booking a table way in advance! We won’t be returning & wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.

Booked here for a drink for a afternoon catch up with some old friends. Where do I start... awful service , overpriced drinks and all in plastics cups. Stop using covid as an excuse for not washing up! If I’m paying £7 for a beer , yes £7.... then a glass is a must. Male Bar tender was incredibly rude and very un welcoming. Only him on duty, slow and sloppy service , wrong drinks , wrong garnishes for certain gins and even tried fobbing us off with draft coke when ordering bottles. If I could give it 0.5 star I would. Never again.

Four of us met for lunch here. The outside area is very good - tables in the lower courtyard underneath a very high roof that you dont notice - at least unless it rains when you will stay nice and dry.The waitress for the first part of lunch was really friendly, the waiter for the second half wasn't and didn't have good English so it a couple of drinks orders got confused.The food was ok. We had burgers - they were around £13 which is cheap for the location. They were fine. Nothing to rave about but nothing wrong either.The Covid rules were a bit ad hoc - there was no freely available hand sanitizer and the QR codes on the table didn't work so you couldn't assist the NHS with track and trace. Surprised given this pub is part of a large chain.So overall - great location, nice little drinking/eating environment, staff were mixed, covid compliance wasn't top flight, but the food was ok and the whole place is pretty cheap. Could do a lot worse but when covid rules relax it wont be a priority to revisit.

Here we are in Covent Garden during Tier 2 Covid-19 lockdown. Needing a pint and a bite but where to go without being fleeced by greedy restaurants jumping in on making a quick quid out of the tourists. Naturally, The Punch and Judy came to mind. Great pub in the past, in fact, not so distant past. The doorman explained the government stance on no booze unless you were eating. Explained in a very polite way so not to be taken wrongly by foreign visitors. We totally understood, and, agreed. NHS QR on the door for track and trace. Going down into the pub wearing our obligatory masks. Shown to a table by a masked server. Once seated allowed to remove masks. Drinks and food ordered either by phone app or to the server. Money taken on ordering. Perfect Covid-19 protocol which made us oldies, one vulnerable, extremely safe. Being vulnerable shouldn’t keep you in but I am extremely careful. Food and drinks arrived promptly. A wonderful, filling, sharing platter of various chicken delicacies. Service here has always been brilliant. For the area, prices are more than reasonable. We like it. Nice atmosphere and space. Hopefully, once this pandemic is on the downslide pubs will be able to open their doors and be the wonderful British pub of old. However, The P&J is coping and doing well.

We went in on a Monday night which is probably not the best night to ever see a pub at its best but this place looked tired and a little on the shabby side. It just looked like it was living off its location and the owners had decided it wasn't worth spending money on as it'll rake in the money without trying too hard. Our drinks were served in plastic glasses which I guess could have been because of the current circumstances but nowhere else we went on that night or any of the others during our stay did that. There are a lot of better pubs in the area.

Our order was clearly stated no ice and when drinks arrived with ice, we were looked up and down like we were such an inconvenience. The moody ass waitress then just went to the bar and scooped the ice out with most of our gin too. They obviously are racist and cannot handle the pressure of orders via their own app!! Wouldn’t bother - much nicer places with happier staff within walking distance

Had a few drinks there whilst in the area. Needs to be better marked out in these Covid times but I felt safe. Ordered via the app and drinks came quickly. Pub is in lovely surroundings with a quaint indoor courtyard.

Rude unhelpful Eastern European bar lady. Asked for drinks menu...said they don’t have one. Then I saw other people looking at the food menu which had a drinks menu included!!! Very unhelpful. Also beers are over priced at £6+. DONT VISIT.

Atmósfera plana en el West End en este momento junto con precios estúpidos. Dale una oportunidad al West End por ahora. ¿Dónde estaban los avisos para el rastreo de contactos? Tuve que contactar con la oficina central de Greene King para plantear el problema. Había tomado una prueba de covid de rutina como parte de un estudio. Fue negativo, y se lo hice saber al pub. Dijeron que el rastreo de contactos no era obligatorio. Gracias a Dios la prueba fue negativa ya que estaba haciendo su trabajo por ellos.

Parecía muy seguro con marcadores en la mesa de que había sido desinfectado y se leía para sentarse, flechas en el piso y 1 entrada y salida a pesar de que algunas personas claramente no podían leer y seguían entrando solo por la puerta de salida, pista y pista escanee el código, también puede ordenar en su mesa en su teléfono y pagar, le traen todo, no pudimos, como si no tuviera señal, no funcionaba, así que tuve que pedir en el bar, desinfectante en todas partes para las personas, la comida era excelente tenía el gran pescado y patatas fritas, Peroni era de degustación fresca, el personal era amable y servicial

Went here for a few drinks Saturday afternoon. Sat in courtyard which was fine, then went to the ladies toilets and was absolutely appalled. One of the ladies cubicle was flooded with water all over the floor and one other had vomit all over the toilet seat and on the floor. Wouldve let a member of staff know but was too busy, hardly anyone working at the bar and no room to move inside. Definitely would not recommend, dirty, disgusting and has definitely put me off returning!

Came here for a meal before our show, what we ordered wasn't available but we were offered an alternative which was very good. Very busy place but the staff were extremely attentive and obliging. Would recommend

Stumbled across this pub when having a walk around Covent Garden and was really surprised about how big it was inside. There is also a balcony overlooking the square where the buskers and entertainers do their thing.

Used to frequent this pub years ago and had fond memories, unfortunately the pace hasn’t changed at all. By this I mean that the owners have not changed the decor since I was there in the 90s by the look of it. It felt dirty and uncared for with ripped wall paper, wall lights hanging by cables out of the walls and doors to the balcony falling to pieces. All this in probably the most expensive pub in the area. To top it all they serve drinks in single use plastic which is lazy on one hand and against what we are all being taught on the other.Won’t be going back that’s for sure.

A group of us politely greeted this blonde waitress and asked for a table for 6 people ! She had a puss on her face and hardly made eye contact .. didn’t stop what she was doing and said ye’ll have to find yer one table I’ve none for 6 or else split up and shrugged her shoulders .. she was SO RUDE! Later we had another altercation with her where she passed a smart comment to one of our group .. at this point people looking at her because her manner was actually drawing attention ! She Needs the sack .. we all agreed we’ve never seen customer service like it ! Needless to say we got up and walked out !

I took my sons here for lunch on the eldest’s birthday. Both of us are fans of ‘fish finger sandwiches’ and my last experience of this on the menu here some years ago did not disappoint. The menu describes the sandwich as lightly battered fish goujons with tartar sauce, priced at approximately £6. Sounds very reasonable. However, on arrival what was before indeed exceptional, came to us a 90% batter in some dry bread, a ramekin of sauce on the side. We also ordered a side of chips and onion rings as sides ( these were fine). My son’s the same proportion of fish versus batter. What looked on the plate a tasty meal was anything but enjoyable. We also ordered a bottle of Peroni beer and a latte. At £3.60 for a latte, the half cup that turned up was disappointing. The peroni at nearly £7 for the bottle extortionate as was the bottle of J20.At first, the friendly and attentive staff seemed just ‘friendly and attentive’ but when they arrived back at the table every 3 minutes for the duration, at one point as I simply sat back in my chair to have my plate swiped from me without being asked if I had finished-it became more like harassment. Unfortunately, won’t be going back!

Low ceilings, exposed brickwork & busy with punters made it a lively atmosphere in relaxing surroundings on a sunday afternoon. Lucky to find a table for 2 at the back. We each had a sandwich and a drink although those around me seemed to favour fish & chips. Staff were attentive and minimal wait time at the bar.

As couples, the balcony is good if you get a seat to watch the street artists but this is busy,even on a damp day in February. Be aware that the street artists will come with their hat to get acknowledgement from you

Ci siamo finiti per caso a pranzo il giorno della partenza!! Fantastico! Un pò timorosi abbiamo chiesto se potevamo mangiare qualcosa...e nonostante fosse già tardi non ci hanno fatto alcun problema! Anzi...molto cortesi e veloci a farci accomodare, ci hanno aiutato a scegliere dal menu i piatti più tipici e ad ordinare la birra che più ci avrebbe potuto aggradare! Ottimo il servizio e ottimo il cibo!! Ci torneremo senz'altro!

Probablemente antiguo, este es un típico pub londinense en una de las zonas más concurridas y turísticas de Londres, Covent Garden. Vas un poco tu aire,eliges mesa,te fijas en el número que aparece en el porta menús y vas a la barra a pedir bebidas y comida. Fuimos una familia de cuatro personas,pedimos tres platos por 50£.Raciones generosas, buen fish & chips,jugoso y crujiente.Enorme variedad de cervezas de barril. Servicio correcto pero tardan en cocina.Si no sabes inglés, mejor que busques otro lugar.

This is not a pub to visit if mobility is a problem - there are a lot of stairs, but we found it congenial. We did not eat here as the sport is on the upper level and food is not available up there. The staff seemed friendly enough, but did not seem to take on board that people were there to watch rugby, so sound wasn't turned up and subtitles weren't turned off without several requests.

We stopped here a couple of times for a drink in January, we utilised the upper level which has a balcony and appeared to be very popular with patrons wanting a vantage point of the street performers below. The prices here were fair and inside the seating etc was fine. Overall if you want somewhere to stop in for a drink this was to us a good option.

I love this bar when visiting London. I have never eaten there just had drinks on the balcony where you can watch the street performers. My only complaint would be the miserable staff. Not so much as a smile and very unwelcoming. It the only thing that lets thus place down unfortunately.

Totally a tourist trap! Low quality food and warm beverages. Bread not even heated. Water highly over priced. No one checks in to see how everything is going.

Still use plastic straws, 2 in one pimm’s cup. It’s 2020, provide paper ones or at least ask before putting them in!!

The service at this pub is second to none. It is extremely well managed and all staff are friendly and welcoming, they couldn’t have done anymore to make our visit any better. The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere and fantastic setting. The food was very good - exactly what you would expect from good pub grub, and the prices very reasonable considering the location. Thank you so much for looking after your own, the beer went down very well, Merry Christmas to you all!

So we have been coming here for years for a bottle of wine and food. Ad hoc sometimes twice/three times a month. . Have taken my two puppies in shoulder bags as they are tiny and never been turfed our. This occasion it was a birthday treat and took my two 1 year old puppies again in shoulder bags, so not peeing on their floors or pooing and got told to leave they do not except dogs inside anymore!! What has this country come to! If I was in France I could take them anywhere. So much for an animal loving country. GREEN king get a grip. Just lost about 40 of our animal loving friends per month way to go!!!!!

Da evitare assolutamente. La maleducazione e la cialtronaggine del personale è senza pari. Come pagare e non ricevere le cose già ordinate è appunto pagate e poi non poter chiedere altro perché magicamente alle 20.00 la cucina ha chiuso! Dopo le nostre lamentele la manager del locale ha praticamente chiamato la security e noi che avevamo 4 bambini siamo dovuti uscire. A Londra in genere ci hanno trattato male bei locali.

Sabato sera, per la precisione il 7 dicembre, sono venuta con le mie amiche per una birra pre-cena e ci siamo trovate in una situazione surreale. L'esordio non è dei migliori, perché già all'ingresso ci accoglie un cameriere davvero cafone. Ordiniamo una birra e una porzione di patatine. Dopo un po' decidiamo di ordinare un'altra porzione, ma vedendo che non arrivava capiamo che l'ordine non era completamente partito perché le patatine non erano ancora state pagate (ce l'avessero detto!). Paghiamo quindi questa nuova porzione di patatine (sempre con lo stesso camieriere con la barba e gli occhi chiari, super cafone, che aveva ricevuto il primo ordine). Passano parecchi minuti e non arriva nulla. A quel punto la mia amica chiede ad una cameriera bionda, un po' robusta, che fine avessero fatto le nostre patatine e questa ascolta e poi, senza dirci assolutamente nulla, continua a fare quello che stava facendo, senza curarsi minimamente della nostra lamentela. Passano ancora altri minuti e allora vado a lamentarmi io al bancone, con un altro cameriere, media altezza, occhi e capelli castani, con la barba, che raggiunge l'apoteosi della maleducazione, mi dice che le patatine non erano state pagate e ridendo e deridendomi con i suoi colleghi mi da 5 pound. La poca gentilezza del servizio è comune, soprattutto a Londra, ma qui la situazione era totalmente surreale, ci sembrava fosse uno scherzo. Non si può dire nemmeno che non ci siamo capiti, perché con l'inglese ce la caviamo abbastanza bene e in ogni caso non avrebbe giustificato la presa in giro dell'ultimo cameriere. A quel punto decidiamo di andarcene e proprio quando ce ne stavamo andando arrivano le famose patatine. Decidiamo chiaramente di non mangiarle e di fuggire dal locale.

Popped in here for a drink whilst in london. Lovely view from the balcony. Thought it's a shame they dont make more of an area up on the balcony, add some heaters and make it nicer for those who want to sit out during the colder days. Beautiful view of the acts and the Christmas tree. Was a little baffled like other reviewers as to why beer is in plastic cups but wine is in glass....but to be honest never bothered us that they were plastic. Nice christmas atmosphere in the bar, smelt just like christmas-lovely! Nice location. Definitely a must visit!

Have been in the Punch and Judy before due to its location. My issue is the serving of beer in a plastic glass so I find it strange that prossecco is served in a proper glass!!! I appreciate that glass could get knocked over the balcony an area where you can see some great acts but a glass is required. Service was quick and the barman polite. Its in a prime location so would definitely go back again even at the inflated prices.

Il pub è proprio dentro Covent Garden ed è molto caratteristico: mattoni a vista, travi di legno, ecc... Le pies sono ottime e il personale è cortese.

Prima pubmaaltijd voor een snelle stop, leuk buitenterras in covent garden. Vriendelijke bediening. Minpuntje; 5 alcoholvrije biertjes op de kaart maar slechts 1 voorradig.

The Punch and Judy is in a prime location and if you manage to get a seat on the balcony next to a heater you can spend hours watching the world go by. We were there mid November, got a balcony seat and had a fantastic view of the Christmas tree in Covent Garden and the stunning decorations.

Afgelopen zaterdag hebben wij gelukkig met ons gezin in een heel korte pauze van onze fietstocht kunnen lunchen. Bovenverwachting zelfs warm gegeten met fish & chips. Dit was te danken aan de bijzonder welwillende en meedenkende barman Elton! Thanks again.

I attended on a late Friday afternoon. It's a shame that the glass collectors and/or security were not employed behind the bar! The staff on the Cellar bar were both rude and surly and quite obviously didn't want to be there. Such a shame as this iconic location should be exceptional. Sadly, it is not!

Very busy pub. We have visited previously and felt it has gone done in standards. Food is only ok and expensive. Place is not very clean either.

It's a cute venue. Friendly patrons, limited cocktails and was told by surly miserable woman at bar that they had run out of mojitos !!! Despite the fact all the ingredients were visible behind the bar and she got dismissive when this was pointed out .. don't bother with the cocktails very limited ones on offer but other then this stroppy woman it's a great venue for when shopping

Spent a couple of hours here on Saturday afternoon.weather was terrible so we got a seat on the covered terrace. Drinks were good.real ales and different lagers.varied selection of wines. Also had lunch there.The sticky sausage rolls and scotch eggs were amazing. Service was quick considering it was very busy.special mention to ‘Elton’ the barman very helpful and friendly. Obviously not cheap but that’s what you expect in the middle of Covent Garden.

Over priced and over rated. The only thing this place has going for it is that it is located in Covent Garden and consequently will attract Tourist customers who are unlikely to ever return again.

Waren spontan dort zur Mittagszeit und bekamen sogar ziemlich flott einen Tisch. Das Lokal ist zwar etwas dunkel innen, aber sehr sauber. Die Bedienung hat uns sehr nett erklärt, das man seine Bestellung vorne an der Bar abgeben muss und das Essen würde serviert werden. Die Speisekarte hatte viele typische englische Gerichte und wir haben uns für das Steak pie mit Kartoffelbrei und Gemüse entschieden. Das Essen war sehr gut und reichhaltig. Wir würden dort wieder essen.

A well established Covent Garden pub catering mainly to the tourists wanting a grandstand view of the street performers. its balcony commands views of the streets below but really that is the value proposition for it. It is very expensive and serves its drinks in plastic cups, not eco friendly at all. The gents toilets are a little eclectic and offer little if any privacy. We did not eat there so cannot comment on their food offerings but agree, in principle, with the other TA comments.

Después de visitar Covent Garden un par de veces antes, siempre quise tomar una copa y ver a los artistas callejeros desde el balcón. Llegamos al pub para el horario de apertura y el esposo y yo nos sentamos a tomar una copa mientras esperábamos que nos acompañen nuestros amigos. El personal del bar era amable, los vasos de plástico en el piso de arriba (¡que entiendo!) El menú se veía bien, aunque no comimos allí. Sin embargo, los baños son bastante sucios. ¿Un buen lugar para tomar una copa y ver pasar el mundo?

Pedimos en el bar pero uno de los pedidos estaba equivocado y una comida todavía estaba congelada en el fondo. Seguimos preguntando qué le había pasado y después de unos 25 minutos, el gerente nos devolvió el dinero, ¡pero luego sacó el mismo plato con la misma comida!

Fuimos a tomar una cerveza y picar algo, intentamos entendernos con la persona que nos atendió y no hizo nada para ello, diciéndonos que allí por deseo del dueño sólo se hablaba en inglés pues era una taberna inglesa, no recomiendo ir, simplemente por la atención que nos dispensan y lo que piensan de nosotros, aya cada cual.

Todo el lugar estaba sucio, sucio y olía. No se molestaría en visitar hasta que hayan tenido un limpiador, lástima que es una excelente ubicación. No lleva mucho tiempo limpiar, es una vergüenza para Londres. . primera impresion turistica. . no está bien. We visited with a 6 and 8 year old. It states outside on a large board that children are welcome then when we asked for a children’s menu were told there isn’t one. Ordered them both a normal meal which they of course could not eat- to be told there are children’s options but not on a menu they just tell you verbally. Strange practice and not one I’ve come across anywhere else!

This is somewhere that benefits hugely from its central location. It's a good place to get a drink and enjoy the surroundings but having had food there as well it's very average.

Nice pub, good food & drinks. Great location in Covent Garden. Friendly staff. I would definitely recommend.

Its a good place to meet in Covent Garden with good beer and food. Its gets busy of course but never too difficult to get served. Inside or out is available with plenty of tables. I have been a few times and will return.

It was great to visit this bar again and look down at the hussel and bussel of Covent Garden. Nice staff too.

Walking through Covent Garden and we stopped for lunch at this pub. With a great location & service & food was amazing !

We were on a tour of London and the guide told us to take a one hour break for lunch. I decided to have some fish and chips. This place had a table and the food came in a short time. Good stop.

Nos detuvimos aquí después de un té borracho por la tarde. Cuando llegamos, se podía ver desde afuera lo ocupado que estaba el balcón. Pero fuimos de todos modos. Las bebidas son muy caras, así que prepárate para eso, ¡32 por 3 1/2 pintas! Nos las arreglamos para encontrar un lugar afuera que es genial para ver todo el entretenimiento. Genial si eres un turista y quieres disfrutar de la atmósfera del jardín de Covent.

Au sous-sol l'ambiance est très sympa pour prendre une bière, mais c'est à l'étage que c'est le plus agréable!

The place was wall to wall people on a Friday afternoon. We ordered at the bar and found a seat, miraculously. I loved the look and feel of the pub.

Situated right in the heart of Covent Garden the Punch & Judy is probably one of London’s most well known pubs & is probably a tourist attraction as well as a pub!!!!

Very good food. I would recommend the Trio Chicken Burger. The burger was POGCHAMP but the strips were a bit more kfc side but still very good. Chips were crispy and soft. Very busy and tight space outside but lovely and beautiful

Reasonable prices for Covent Garden, good food , friendly staff, basic seating area but ok for a quick meal, nothing special.

Great pub, friendly staff, busy, popped in for nice cold beer and wasn't disappointed, nice upstairs bar shame about plastics but I understand why, definitely go back soon.
