Chicken and pepperoni pizza was a generous size and had plenty of chips too. Staff friendly, don't remember asked if our meals were OK though. Good overall though.

I arrived at The Punch Bowel Restaurant at 1.30pm on Wednesday 2nd October 24,with my friend, it was a very cold day very windy, we went inside, every radiator throughout the restaurant was stone cold, no heating on at all, we both kept our coats on throughout the visit, we were freezing cold, never been to any restaurant who did not have any heating on The meal was very nice, could not fault the food, not nice eating when you are cold with your coat on. I will never go for a meal there again, I am 81yrs old, my friend 78yrs old, some other people were having a meal with a lady in a wheel chair, they must have been cold. I told the lady when she came to take our plates away, the food was very nice, but we have been freezing cold, she said we should have told them, we should not have to tell them, the heating should have been on, when we left at 4pm, the heating came on.

I used to love eating here, but not anymore, not worth the money you pay at all, lasagne overcooked and was like cardboard, margarita pizza was a too crunchy base it was like eating a dorito with minimal tomato and rubbery cheese, the burger was awful , stodgy texture on burger and a brioche bun that was so hard to cut and chew like it had been nooked in a micro, however jacket tatie was lovely, visited with work mates, so we ended up trying each others..... really do not want to return, can't believe how far the quality has dropped.

We went for a walk along the promenade to blow away the New Year’s Eve cobwebs away. Decided to stop for a coffee and ended up having the small breakfast. The food was cooked to perfection and the quality of the ingredients was very good indeed, thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely do this again. Price was good too, less than £20 for 2 people. The staff are lovely and very polite. Enjoyed looking at the old photos around the wall and being a meggies boy they was good to see. Keep up the good work Punchbowl would recommend this to anyone. Little disappointed. We visited with our family, my wifes in a wheelchair and we took our little pug dog with us. We were told Dogs were allowed in the pub, but only at one end....but it was the end without Disabled Access and 3 steps! We asked a member of staff what would happen if a disabled person came in with their dog? And was told "its dog or disabled access im afraid...thats it"! We had to lift the disabled person up the steps into the pub! Im sure that there must be an easier way in these days of 'political correctness' (The Equality Act 2010 requires all buildings to have disabled access). Once in the Meals were reasonable, and theres a good selection of drinks on offer. Good location and generally clean throughout. 🚩Location 10/10 🍽Meals 7/10 🚻Staff Performance 5/10 🚮Cleanliness 8/10 🌐Wifi- Didnt test. 🐕Dogs Welcome-Yes...unless your Disabled. ⚠️Needs to be up todate with the Law.

Came here on thursday 2nd Sept for a family meal, the place looks run down, the rude large woman decides to put 2 scolding hot meals infront of my 18month old, she then stood and watched me move them from infront of him and asked me to put them back as the plates might mark the table, I'd rather burn your table than my child!! the "bolognese" was awful looked like it had been made month ago with frozen mince, taste was awful, the steak looked poorly, my sons chips tasted of dirty oil, and the chocolate fudge cake was stale, we always used to love coming here it used to be great, we ended up paying over £50 in food and drinks to be poorly for 3 days, can safely say we won't be returning

Just what we were looking for, an old style pub, with proper pub food. Excellent food, generous portions, small plates for those with small appetites. Reasonably priced beer and food. Anything off the menu available. Kids and baby menu available. Visited both nights of our stay, pleasant landlord, landlady and staff, couldn't do enough for you. Proper pub, no airs and graces, no fancy stuff, like bistro or Michelin star rubbish here, just high quality pub food, good service and good atmosphere with sea views. Very clean at all times, well worth a visit. Would visit every might if we stopped longer, will return on our next visit to Cleethorpes, a definite. 11/10, 6 stars.

Miserable staff and chaotic, disjointed, distant service ruin what is otherwise a rather quaint little place; I had to ask twice if our orders could be taken, as from what I could see, the moderately numerous staff (in comparison to the handful of customers in) were more interested in chatting to other (presumably regular) patrons rather than tending to the other customers. We were then confronted at the end of our evening by a particularly sour-faced abrasive member of staff who seemed to think cuddling was "too amorous" a display for an otherwise mostly empty pub - nobody was sitting in our half of the establishment (which was separated by a wall) bar myself and my fiancée, and the nearest fellow patrons were on the other side of the building. Why this request could not have been broached to us earlier if it was apparently such a big problem and in a more personable, polite manner is beyond me. The staff are clearly in need of a public relations course - the individual who confronted us more than anyone. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

It goes without saying that a meal at the Punchy is always great. But since Covid people are more wary of procedures and safety then just the quality of the meal. We found the punchy to be very well organised. Excellent one way system, easy track & trace system with minimal fuss and orders taken at the table. Disposable menus and card payments so almost no chance of picking up and bugs! This was our first meal out since Covid and it couldn’t have gone better. Well done team Punchy!

We ordered two Sunday dinners, well if you can call them that. I nearly broke my tooth on the mash potato, it had clumps of raw potato in it. I told the waiter this, he came back to us and said " the chef has told me that is how mashed potatoes are " I replied, " what, raw ? " I thought, well I'm starving might as well eat it, the beef was like chewing leather, the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were as soggy as a wet cloth, the carrots tasted like they were out of a tin, and the gravy was a light brown coloured poundworld special mix.A polite young waitress asked if everything was ok after seeing two full plates left, she said we have never ever had any complaints. I find that impossible to believe. If that is their definition of a Sunday roast, they seriously need to 're think the menu.By far and away, the worst Sunday roast imaginable.

We have been eating here for a good few years and have always enjoyed our meals, however this time we were really dissatisfied. I had cottage pie with chips and veg which is what I usually choose, this time it was completely different, it looked and tasted as if it was bought in. The meat was very sloppy and the potato was piped over the top and luke warm, it didn’t look home made at all which it usually does. My friend and I chose Lemon Meringue for dessert, this was definitely a frozen one bought in, maybe the chef is on holiday but these meals were definitely not cooked on the premises just warmed up. It will be a while until I visit here again, if ever.

We spotted this place on the way to Cleethorpes Armed Forces Day, of which we knew would be a busy day. When we came back from looking around enjoying the day at around about 3pm. We decided to sit and any eat here, atmosphere seemed good and it wasn't that busy. I was served at the bar in a good amount of time and also at the food till. My disappointment is that we had waited 1 hour and 20mins for our food (with no one telling us a wait time). I also know this as proof as I checked my receipt for the time being ordered. I have asked the staff at about 50mins what was going on, as I couldn't see any food coming out to any other diners either, or not many people was ordering food. The waitress/bar staff did apologies but made no reason and wasn't very pleasant in her apology. I can understand that it was suppose to be a busy day, but in all honesty it was not that busy at all and I work in this industry.

I always feel like I'm eating in somebody's dining room as it has that cosy feel to it. The pool table is away in its own area so is not intrusive. The bar is away from most of the other tables so once again not intrusive. This is not a chain pub, but an independent one that provides hot, fresh, tasty food. My wife often has one of the gluten free desserts. I had the vege mushroom risotto this time and it was so creamy that I am looking forward to returning. Being able to have half chips and half rice was a bonus. Theakston bitter on hand pull is consistently good. If you are fed up with some of the tasteless, noisy chain pubs that want to move you on once your plate is empty, try The Punchbowl.

We went in for lunch on Monday and we will never go back again! The toilets are for customers only, which is totally understandable! So we walked in with a 5 year old needing the loo after a very long car trip, and instantly were shocked by the standard of hygiene in the place, a strong stale smell. We felt bad that we needed to use the facilities so we stayed and ordered food. The lady behind the bar was anything but welcoming and frankly quite abrupt and awkward. We were barked at to order at the other bar...sure not a problem! So we walked over and then she did too...to take our order! The whole transaction felt like a confrontation!! We found a table by the window which had been ‘cleaned and reset’ but it still had bits of food and hair on it! So the food arrives... I had the scampi, expecting it to be fresh as you know, we’re literally next to the sea...it wasn’t even scampi, it was formed white fish bites! My partner had a half rack of ribs with warm coleslaw. All seemed ok whilst we ate it and we quickly left to get some air. My partner within 15 minutes of finishing it began to complain of being too hot and ‘not feeling right’ he began to sweat and started to turn grey! Wanting to get him home ASAP we jumped back in the car and as soon as we hit the m180 he was violently vomiting out of the window as I tried to stop the car! As I found a place to stop, He didn’t! I thought we were going to end up with an ambulance at the side of the road! By this point food poisoning is evident. I managed to get him all the way home with stops to let him be violently sick again and again. This carried on until the early hours of this morning (two days later). Needless to say we will not be returning for another visit. I do not know which part of the meal cause this or whether it was just low hygiene standards. I will be taking him to the doctors today to get checked over.

While there are plenty of places serving fish and chips, burgers etc, the Punchbowl offered more comfortable surroundings, good beer, friendly staff and well-priced meals. The fish, chips and peas were very good at £4.95, while the jacket potato and beans (£4.75) offered a filling alternative for my wife. A beer and a soft drink later, we were ready to brave the crowds along the sea front again.

We went in for a meal after an evening walk. Menu looked good and theprices seemed very good! Hubby had pie and chips with garden peas; pretty good it seems but I ordered the sea bass supposedly pan fried. Well, what arrived was not sea bass! Yes it was a white fish but definitely not sea bass. It was covered in a soggy, fat soaked batter - aweful! i spoke to the staff who said "it's coated in flour it's not batter". Hmmm...that's why I could peel it off I suppose?! The waitress came over and prodded it with my fork and said "yep, definitelt sea bass".Even hubby had a taste and straight away said it must be cod or pollock, wrong flavour, wrong texture. Shame really, the evening started off so well with friendly bar staff and a nice atmosphere. We won't be going back. We were advised to make a visit to the Punch Bowl for what was described as good home cooking. We went, we saw & we ate and will now recommend also. My partner ordered the full rack of ribs which were meaty and plentiful, meat almost falling off the bone. I ordered the Jumbo mixed grill which included a pork chop, lamb chop, gammon, sausage and what should be on all mixed grill's, liver. Perfectly cooked and very tasty. Good food, good service with a nice cold pint (or two). Excellent.

Went for a meal here last weekend. Lots of choices, so something for everybody. Made to feel very welcome. Large portion sizes, so no room for pudding. I had fish and chips which was perfectly cooked.

This was our 11th visit and as always a very warm welcome. We came for lunch and later in the week for evening meal. Both were excellent, for lunch Tony had the all day breakfast and I had a jacket potato with Tuna Mayo, very tasty. For evening meal I had Cajun Chicken and Tony Chicken Kiev, then for sweet we both had Lemon Pie and Ice Cream. We travel 40 minutes to get there but always well worth it.

Had not been to Punchbowl for years not for any particular reason so thought we would try it for a light lunch mid week which is always a gamble when it is quiet. However we were pleasantly surprised. Extensive menu from light bite snacks to full blown roast dinner! We had light options but portions were large and more than enough! Heard other people saying how good their meal was and how much there was of it. Friendly staff too! Will definitely be back!

We visited here on here as a family on Sunday. Great service and great food. Cheap and cheerful prices we opted for the fish chips peas bread and butter and a hot drink 7.99 great value. My son had a pizza which was a little disappointing as it had been microwaved so was all soggy and not at all edible.

Absolutely love this place and will keep returning. Food is real home cooked feel good food. They have choices for a cold evening or a summers day. You can eat or just have a drink and it is family friendly. Prices are very reasonable and offers are fab. Only downfall is the decor and furniture need a serious update

Just completed an hour of stand up paddle boarding and wanted a breakfast so nipped here with two other pals. Our visit was on a Sunday morning around 10.50am and we seemed to be the first in there. I ordered a full breakfast which came with toast, beans , 2 bacon , 2 sausages , mushrooms , 3 hash browns , 2 tomatoes. Also ordered a large Diet Coke. All this came to just over £9.00. The food it self wasn't bad. Quite well cooked and tasted good. The toast was quite poor. Really thin bread and not great quality bread either. The service was a little all over though. My friend managed to get his cup of tea before my Coke. I had to wait quite abit of time after him before the Coke around. Actually the Coke came after my food. Also had to remind the waiter that he forgot to bring toast. This came out around 5 minutes after the breakfast. I would return again because the food was ok. The service wasn't great but could have just caught it on an off day.

Although the prices in here are certainly value for money, unfortunately none of the three of us enjoyed our fish and chip meals, the fish and strangely the chips as well were tasteless, even after adding quite a bit of salt. One star only for food prices I'm afraid.

Glad we ignored the horrible comments, the staff were spot on, very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had the 2 meals for £17.95 (starter & main course or main course and dessert). I had the lasagne and chips and chocolate fudge cake, it was all homemade and yummy and my partner had the steak and ale pie and chips and the chocolate fudge cake, and he said it was absolutely delicious. We are definitely going again, it was spot on.

Sourdough with starter was like a rock, tried to cut, all over the table. Main course fish was average. Main course was lukewarm, cous cous was cold and clumpy, flat bread was like cardboard, salad was fine! Expensive, didn’t complain but would never return or recommend

This place has changed over the years, after last year (2023) I wasn't sure if I wanted to come back, but I'm glad it did. Myself and mostly Gluten Free family had lovely carvery. - Good Cleanliness - Decent Atmosphere - Nice Setup - Meat was cooked to perfection. 🤌🏻 There's were however a things that wasn't particularly great... - I was the only person in the line for a carvery and I watched 12 minutes go by. - The roast potatos were VERY crispy. - No more refillable drinks! I got very annoyed standing there, I have a blue badge due to my disability and my lordosis wasn't doing great but I managed. I know people that wouldn't be able to manage that kind of wait which could take away their independence. Admittedly I only had one roast potato, I like to think I pick the ones that look the best and look fluffy. But the texture and taste wasn't great. Could have been a bad pick, bad batch or just a bad day. I have really enjoyed them in the past. For a refillable drink it only cost 15p more than a regular pint of pop. 😬 So I was shocked to find that there is no more refillable.
