Pucelli's in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

A really welcoming haven on a very wet day in Padstow.. Third time visiting this place, food has always been top notch..

It was so good we had to come back and we were not disappointed. The food is Michelin quality without the Michelin price tag. On this occasion we had Frutti Di Mare and Cozze.

Having travelled to Padstow for an anniversary weekend, I had a range of pasty suppliers from which to select. Unwisely, at it turns out, I chose what looked like a service hatch, but turned out to be a pop-up pasty window at Pucelli's Restaurant on the Quay. It was the only thing I had eaten that day and although not cold, it wasn't exactly piping hot. Around 90 minutes later (after Purcelli's had closed) I found myself back in our hotel with severe stomach cramps and nausea. After spending the next three hours talking on the large white telephone to God situated in the bathroom and missing dinner, the inevitable happened bringing an entirely new meaning to pop up pasties. I returned to at least advise the restaurant the next day, but they were closed and the pop-up window was not in use. Based on my experience I would not be returning to Pucelli's. While this can and does happen at any establishment food handling is a theme running through reviews here. Pucelli's you can do better.

Great view, good service and a good range of gluten free options.

We had a great dinner, everything was delicious. The service is great, the girls are super friendly and very attentive and the food is excellent. Highly recommended!

A lovely place to eat, wonderful view of the boats and north harbour. Friendly helpful staff, great food and drink.

Dropped in without booking, although they were very busy they squeezed us in. The staff were fantastic, great fun and really helpful. Great views over the harbour. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection, my partner had the crab linguine which I’m told was amazing. Would definitely, highly recommend.

Nice place with good friendly staff but very disappointed with the food. My lasagne was overcooked , dry and hard. My wife’s bolognaise was almost meat less, with a vey weak watery ragu and the pasta tasted like it had been boiled all day. £48.00 for that .. there are other bad reviews along the same lines maybe the owners should pay attention. This place has a lot of potential due its lovely position.

Very nice food, the spaghetti bolognese was very very good, fresh olives for starters, gluten free options available and nice too. Service was ok but could have been better. Arrived early and was seated in the waiting area but not offered a drink or anything.

To say we were disappointed when we visited here is an understatement. From a group of eight of us, not 1 of us had a good experience. The coffees were wishy washy & flavourless. The cakes were very dry. Worst of all, 4 of us had the worst milkshakes we'd ever tasted. The taste of the banana shakes was very fake. We can only assume they use the cheapest powder to make them. The chocolate milkshake was almost flavourless & was grainy with powder. It is the 1st time anyone in our group has not finished a milkshake but, on this occasion, 3 of us did so. A nice view of the harbour was the only plus point. Avoid.

Service was brilliant, food incredible. Server Ellie made our night. Will be back. Recommend!

Beautiful food and service. In a great spot in Padstow, prices are about what you’d expect in a Cornish holiday town but nothing outrageous. The house cider is a must for any cider fan, it was amazing! Will definatly be back

Great food and views over the harbour. It was quite busy, but there's an area to wait and have a drink. Most of the pasta options can be made gluten free.

Amazing atmosphere. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and seemed very happy. Jazz particularly stood out, she was absolutely amazing and very lovely to chat to. Food was excellent, exactly what we had in mind, and was all topped off by the beautiful view. Cannot recommend enough

Very nice place with a nice view over Padstow harbour. Service was friendly and food was very tasty and we were served very quick. We ordered tagliatelle bolognese and maccaroni a la maiale, both big dishes so ended full and satisfied! Would repeat if I go to Padstow again! :)

We had a late breakfast with a lovely view. The restaurant wasn’t as busy as expected, I think we were in the space between breakfast and lunch. Food was great and we were well looked after. Paid tourist prices but it wasn’t madly expensive

An amazing Italian venue overlooking Padstow harbour. The food is great with lots of choice and the chocolate tart is out of this world good!! Kids menu was also ideal for both our two kids (10 & 5). Definitely worth a look!

Not the first time we’ve eaten here but will probably be the last. Appreciate it was a busy Saturday but waitress service not good. On order and on paying bill had to attract attention and on leaving gave up waiting and went to bar to pay. Food looked decent (pizza) but was bland / tasteless and left us feeling entirely unsatisfied, if not a little sick.

A great place with a fantastic view of the harbour. The Italian food was delicious and came with good service and a smile .We had a window table looking down at the boats and the people below .You have to climb some stairs but it's worth it for the relaxed atmosphere and views. It has nothing to do with the restaurant downstairs and doesn't sell fish and chips

Ate here today, asked if we wanted to wait a couple of minutes whilst a window table was cleared. Seated very quickly and efficient, drinks order taken then food . Food was delivered quickly and with a smile, both dishes were very tasty and I feel very good value for the price . Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you

Lovely atmosphere, overseeing the harbour view from the 1st floor. Came with a party of 6 with kids in tow. Really appreciated them accommodating for food allergies. Mussels were a delight - so fresh and great sizing! Specials were very well cooked, everyone was happy! Well done!

Went in for our two year wedding anniversary, the service staff were fantastic and the food was incredible. Sadly the night was ruined when we were told they didn’t accept cash. When told that was all we had on us we were told by the supervisor on shift that they would have to call the police because they “do not take cash”. Apparently there were 2 signs saying so, one we were whisked past to be seated and the other is hidden behind a plant outside. Completely disgusted with this guys behaviour and attitude and as a person with local family and friends will be putting this on Facebook as well. I don’t expect to be treated like a common criminal when trying to pay for my food.

Decided to try this for lunch on a day trip to Padstow with the family. We were lucky to get a great table overlooking the harbour. Service was friendly and efficient and the drinks came quickly. The food also came out not long after, though not too quickly. We had 3 vegetarian pasta dishes, all of which were very tasty and nicely presented. Husband had a fish dish which he also enjoyed. Came to £84 for 4 main courses, 3 soft drinks and a large glass of wine, which seemed reasonable to us. Happy to recommend!

A visit to Pucelli's is a must whenever we visit Cornwall, so we did just that. We had a 20min wait when we arrived around 7:30pm. The staff were courteous and asked us to wait. We sat at the waiting table and ordered drinks. It was a very chilled atmosphere. We ordered pizzas, gnocchi and chicken alrfredo. The food was delicious as always and great atmosphere. Was a nice meal and good location but not worth those prices, even in Cornwall. You can get better value elsewhere.

The main drawback was the overly enthusiastic (or rather bored) staff who almost outnumbered the number of diners. This resulted in different staff coming over almost every 5 minutes asking different questions which resulted in the feeling of being rushed which detracted from our experience. Food was nice enough, but nothing special. Great view from the restaurant.

Food was ok nothing exceptional, calzone was oily. Pasta was lack lustre, with no taste. Food was served in a fashion of its on your table you reach over to get it yourself, and I think it was pure luck that drinks turned up as we asked twice!!! When I mentioned my disappointment at the food I was told that no one else had complained.

Had two meals in the last week while in Padstow. Lovely food, good service and a great view

Disappointing. The first half of the evening started of reasonably well , however there seemed to be a lot of confusion with table numbers as we were given starters and mains that were meant for other tables. The food that we did receive was very nice. Once we had received our mains attentiveness from staff seemed to completely stop. 30 mins wait for our plates to be cleared and offered desserts despite being sat next to the kitchen. Drinks that we ordered that weren’t ours were added to the bill even after refusing them stating that we didn’t order them 3 times. Overall good food spoilt by poor customer.

This place is beautiful overlooking the harbour, went here for a nice coffee and was so nice! Recommended!!

Called in at Pucelli's for brunch and wasn't disappointed. I was intrigued by the breakfast calzone and it was great. Good choice of coffees and other good drinks for brunch (hello G&T). The location is great for looking out over the harbour while eating and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a light brunch bite in the Padstow area.

We decided to have lunch here today. The food was delicious, I had the lasagne my husband had chicken rigatoni. Sat by the window but had a cool breeze, still enjoyed eating there. Staff good.

Lovely food but we were surrounded by dogs. One dog wee'd on the restaurant floor while another was barking throughout our meal. Very off putting and unhygienic and disgusting.

Very average Italian food! Far from authentic, food was okay but not amazing. We just found everything to be quite lack luster to be honest, especially for the price point. We’ve had much better. Excellent views though and friendly service from the staff!

OK, so this is not a traditional Italian trattoria but the food is very good, the service friendly and attentive, and the location top notch. We visited outside school holiday time so Padstow itself was lovely and quiet. This meant the staff could be attentive and the food came in good time, and was hot and fresh. I'd recommend this restaurant.

We had an evening meal which was absolutely delicious, accompanied with a great house cider. Lovely location with a stunning view of the harbour. Service was excellent and the staff were really friendly.

lovely lunch experience with a stunning view on a bright day! visited at quarter past one, the place was literally not crowded on a Sunday. food menu has a lot of Italian varieties! (and so a lot of options with the drinks) such a relaxing and serene ambiance, a reco!

Lovely location but the food is AWFUL! Microwaved starters of mushrooms and chorizo. The restaurant was dead and could hear the microwave pinging. Starter’s were so disappointing! Main course of steak that was ridiculously over salted, my husband had the gnocchi which was overdone. I told the waitress at the end who was very apologetic. I could see that she passed the comment onto the chef who stood there shaking his head. Such a shame as it is a beautiful setting but there is zero effort put into food. Would not recommend!

Excellent waiting staff- food awful, warm and generic - there are many better places in Padstow but II would avoid here!

Generous portions of freshly cooked food delivered by friendly staff. Just had a very substantial lunch sitting on the quayside watching the world go by.

The service was excellent, very professional and patient with the kids. I had the lasagne which was brilliant. Prices are reasonable, excellent value for the quality of the food.

As always, great food in a lovely location and a wonderful place to celebrate our birthdays. Definitely our preferred place to eat whenever we go to Padstow.

My wife and I had dinner here this evening and it was really very good. The staff where very welcoming and showed us to a table overlooking the harbour. Plenty to choose from on the menu , Frito Misto as a first course followed by two amazing pasta dishes for main course. We have eaten in most Padstow restaurants and this one twice this year and have no hesitation in recommending it. Can’t wait to go back.

It was our anniversary and we decided to try this beautiful looking restaurant. We were not disappointed, starters x 2, mains x 2, bottle of wine and large peroni, £83. Great price, fabulous food and window table with a terrific view of Padstow harbour

Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Can’t book tables but we only waited about 15 minutes for one. Best tables have views out over the harbour but this doesn’t detract from the quality food and brilliant service from all the staff.

SERVICE IS RUBBISH. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Firstly walked into no welcome or greeting just got told they will be with us in a minute, after waiting for 5 minutes we just got told to choose our own table to sit at, we asked to change to a different table near the window before we had ordered anything because the table had become available, and the waitress made us seem like we was asking for a lot and was making us feel like a problem and said that it was really stressful and hard for them, however there was no speed in anything and none of the staff seemed to care about the service and didn’t have a good attitude to bring to the restaurant. Considering we had just got there there was no effort to make us feel welcomed, waiters obviously had no communication between each other because they came and asked for our food order before they had taken our drinks, we then moved table but got given the wrong drink order but had waited long enough already so didn’t want to ask for the correct drink to wait another 10 mins for it to be brung to us. By this point we was questioning whether to leave or not. Waited another 20 minutes for our food order to be taken but when the waiter came over he didn’t even listen to what we said and just looked around unbothered. While we’re waiting for our food other customers are talking to each other complaining about the service and food it didn’t seem like anyone was impressed. Food came out faster then the drinks however my mum asked for a Medium cooked steak and it may aswell of been rare and was bloody, her tomatoes were also supposed to be “roasted” however were just warm and hard my chicken was dry and without the sauce wouldn’t be pleasant after eating my stomach felt unwell. Apart from the mains our sides of potatoes and a salad were quite nice. But while we were eating our correct drink order came to the table and we had to send it away as we didn’t want to get charged anymore money at a disappointing restaurant so asked for some water however it never showed so asked again and only got brung ice and glasses 10 minutes later with no water. Our plates got left on our tables for a while along with a lot of other people’s the man beside us had kids and i would not recommend bringing kids here as theres long waiting periods for everything and even we was getting impatient i can’t imagine how they felt. And because of this didn’t get deserts as we was fed up of waiting (they also didn’t come to ask if we wanted any deserts so i had to go get a menu off another table myself). I’ve never wrote a review but it was so terrible here i felt as though i had to and after reading the reviews it obviously wasn’t just a one time thing. We did not check the bill before paying but i’ve seen people saying they were over charged so will be looking tomorrow. Just want to add in don’t sit near the toilets as you can hear the hand drier.

Me and my husband can’t stop coming back… it’s our favourite place to eat in padstow. We came for dinner last night, breakfast this morning then lunch this afternoon. He has the “porcelli” pizza, he says it’s the best pizza he’s ever tasted, it’s a meatier pizza option for meat lovers. I myself have the Pomodoro vegetarian pasta every time, it’s simple but so tasty. It’s hard to find good pasta around but I love the pasta here. Also the portions are decent. And just an add on, the fries are really good. Location wise is perfect, the balcony over looks the harbour, by far the best eating spot in padstow.

No one came to check the food was ok so we spent a fair while trying to get the attention of either of the waiting staff. After we drew attention of the waiter, he offered my partner a replacement which he did not want (given the lasagne was watery and contained more mushroom than mince in the filling) and then asked what he wanted to do, did not offer a refund until we asked for it. The waiter then left the plate on the table for five minutes by which point I was done with the fairly sub par flavourless chicken pasta I had ordered which was overcooked, grey and lacked sauce. It took a further 15 minutes for anyone to come and speak to us at which point we were pushed towards having a dessert which we stated multiple times we did not want. When the bill did arrive the lasagne was still listed, this was corrected but over the whole order there was no apology and it came accross as though neither of the floor waiting staff wanted to be there or cared. Such a shame as we first went in April and had  lovely meal, and given the cost of eating out it is not something we are able to do regularly so to have such a bad meal was disappointing to say the least.

A nice meal well presented and served. I had a whole Plaice from the special menu and it was very good. The service was very friendly from hard working staff. I don’t think they take reservations- we just walked in and we’re seated very quickly. Cost was reasonable (for Padstow!!!)Would definitely go again

A lovely meal, with an amazing view - the perfect end to our holiday. We will return!

Perfect place for dinner, one of the few places you don't book a table at in Padstow but you do need to arrive before the rush to get a table. Food was great, ended up going back again as reasonably priced, good views of the harbour and very good service and food.

Starters of mussels and ciabata ai funghi were fresh and good. Prawns in a tomato, parmesan and cream sauce was a rich tasting and generous main course but the sauce was thin and dribbly. The chicken and mushroom tagliatelle contained overcooked and dry chicken, overcooked pasta and not enough sauce. The ice cream was average. The lemon torte tasted OK and might have been fresh yesterday. The Terazzo Falangina was very good - a second bottle had not been chilled and was sent back to be replaced. I think this is a restaurant that is aimed at holidaymakers and is not concerned to attract regular customers. Three courses for two people with two bottles of wine came to £127 without service - average for Padstow (where there are lots of other restaurants).

Good atmosphere, friendly staff, but the pesto pasta had hardly any sauce and tasted like pasta water. The pasta wasn't coated in anything, there was some pesto oil at the bottom of the dish but not enough to coat the pasta with, and the dish was overall very tastless, my partners tomato pasta dish also came with hardly any sauce. I would've ordered, and happily paid for something else, but the staff didn't come over to ask how it was. When i left the dish, aside from 4 pieces of pasta and the veg that came with it, I was surprised they once again didn't ask how it was, or if anything was wrong with it. I would've ordered a pizza to go but the staff took the plates away and came back with the bill so sharpish I didn't bother. The olives come sitting in oil, which is not to everyone's taste and the cheesy garlic bread was very greesy. I wouldn't eat pasta here again, but the pizza they did looked amazing so maybe worth a shot!

We are local but have never been in here. Decided to give it a go as we liked the look of the menu, 4 of us all had different food and it was absolutely delicious! I cannot complain. The service was fab, price was reasonable and the food was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Very nice and they had Gluten free options

This is my favourite restaurant in Padstow. We loved it so much that we visited twice during our stay! The food is amazing and the location of the restaurant is perfect, overlooking the harbour! The staff were friendly too. We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in Padstow.

If you like chips, burgers, pizza, or seafood, Padstow has you well covered. If you’re tastes lean towards Italian on the day, then there are fewer choices. When looking for a place to eat during the ‘between times’ when the café’s close and the restaurants reopen, we happened upon Pucelli’s. This Italian restaurant, located on the first floor overlooking the harbour, didn’t feature chips as its main fare. Winner, or so we thought. First the good stuff. The room was nicely decorated and well laid out. The view over the harbour was nice and the staff were friendly and efficient. However, the food was very bland! My wife had the special, which wasn’t very special; she left half of it and ate some of mine. It felt like both meals had only been ‘shown’ the garlic. Why are many Italian eateries so afraid of offending English sensibilities by not being liberal with the flavourings?! Overall we were left very underwhelmed. May as well had a bag of chips, at least they’re usually not disappointing. The prices? On a par with the rest of Padstow-upon-Thames. A small town, heaving with people, and geared to the affluent south-east set. Poor people seem not welcome. At the least the whippy ice cream from elsewhere around the harbour was epic!

Lovely little place. After a lovely family walk, we all decided to go for an Italian, so we picked Pucelli's. We had medium sized family lunch with some pizzas, pastas and burgers on the menu. The atmosphere was lovely, staff really friendly. Then when it comes to the food, there is place for improvements. I'm not an Italian, but I can make way better pizzas. The pizza dough wasn't enjoyable, it was soggy and didn't have any authentic pizza taste. The pasta, according to my wife was absolutely lovely. The burgers, well they might look great, but taste wise wasn't so great. Burger pattie was a bit tasteless and the chips (french fries) were fried in burnt oil I would think so. A 'burger king' tastes much better to be honest. Even though I'm not an eater of fast foods. This said, I think the overall experience was decent. Being an Italian restaurant, the atmosphere and the location tops up the disappointment and the overall experience.

Had a really tasty brunch here. It was my wife’s first taste of Italian food and she was pleasantly surprised. Couldn’t fault it and highly recommend the Calzone.

Pucelli’s is positioned in a great location on the harbour front with excellent views. We sat by the window looking out. The restaurant looked clean, well set out and had all the signs of a good restaurant. Unfortunately the foundations of an Italian restaurant aren’t there. If you offer Italian cuisine, you must be able to make the basics, such as pizza. The pizza base was a thin crust but not sourdough as you’d expect from an Italian. Putting balsamic vinegar on a pizza is a big no. The pizza was overwhelmed with toppings, giving it a soggy middle. It was apparent the ingredients weren’t fresh. Perhaps a reduction in the size of the menu would enable the restaurant to buy in fresh produce. It was peak lunch hour on a Friday and considering the location of the restaurant, the footfall was alarmingly low. With this in mind I would have expected the service to be somewhat better, the staff were all nice people but we’re not attentive. There were 5 waiters behind the bar resulting in us having go up to settle the bill and leave - whilst the food was still on our table. This restaurant has the bones to be a real cash cow but fails with the basics.

We visited on the last night of our holiday, our only regret was not visiting sooner. Upon arriving there was a queue for the restaurant however it was fast moving and they had a good system in place, The restaurant is small but why does it need to be bigger if they are turning over the amount of tables they are during one evening?! The food was lovely and I would definitely visit again!

We've stayed in Padstow before so we knew that you couldn't book. We got there for about 18.30 and there were 3 groups ahead of uf us. We got a table within about about 15 minutes, so not too bad. When we left at about 20.00, the queue was down the stairs and out the door, so a much longer wait. The menu is obviously Italian but does cater for the burger lover. Gluten Free options were available on request. The staff are very friendly, attentive and cheerful, even when it was really busy. The food was great, very tasty and generous portion size. There were five of us and our two course meal with a couple of rounds of drinks was about £170, so a little more than we'd usually pay, but then it is Padstow 🤣

I went for the hake, had to send it back twice due to it being cold and uncooked in the middle, decide to change to a pesto pasta, very nice, staff amazing and the view was amazing, only reason it's not a 1*

What a fantastic restaurant. In our opinion it was the best restaurant in Padstow. We went there twice in fact as it was so nice. The staff are top notch (especially the young lady who is training to be an intensive care nurse sorry we didn’t get your name). She looked after us twice and was really attentive/friendly. The starters, pasta dishes and sides were stunning, loads of flavours and tasted lovely. The tiramisu was the nicest I’ve ever tasted in my life. First class restaurant, staff, location and food thank you. We will definitely be back when we return to Padstow.

I’ve been to this ‘Italian’ restaurant not having many expectations, but I’ve been very disappointed even tho. I’ve ordered the ciabatta and garlic bread: it wasn’t tasty at all and the ciabatta was the same as garlic bread. The focaccia is tasteless I’ve also ordered prawns dish and it was very watery and also not tasty. I felt heavy after all of this. I won’t come back, sorry. Wine was good, nice selection. Also nice view.

We ate at Pucelli's twice within a couple of evenings this week. Super service from a friendly team, the food was hot, very tasty and superb value for money. We will be back without a doubt, just a shame we are going home on Saturday! See you next time guys 😄

A great mix of seafood & pasta / pizza dishes. The kids has spag bol dishes while myself & my wife ordered from the specials board. The lemon sole was grilled served with roasted potatoes - this was really good. Also no reservations was needed...

Went there for an evening meal. Short wait for a table but the food was excellent as was the service even on a very very busy day. Except to pay about 30 quid a head which honestly is about the going rate to eat out in Padstow. Pizza and pasta was fabulous as were the desserts. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
