Pieros Ristorante and Pizzeria in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Been coming to Pieros for years. The food was absolutely incredible as usual, very authentic which is a rarity these days. The staff were very polite and kind to my kids, making sure the kiddies pizzas were not just good portions but individual shapes for them which they loved. I can’t rate the restaurant highly enough there’s nothing quite like it in Cornwall!

The food was lovely however the waiter was very surly, not at all welcoming. Shame because this could be a lovely restaurant.

Met my sister there for lunch, as it is her favourite restaurant. Staff were rude, no eye contact and very offhand. We walked out and went across the road to a ery different welcome

What a great place. 5 of ate there mid week. Everything was perfectly cooked. The sardinian waiter/maitre de was so good and friendly. We will definitely go there again. 2 bottles of wine, 3 starters, 5 mains, 1 pudding, 1 coffee(dbl) and 3 cheeky grappas. TOTAL 160.

Positives are that the waiting staff were all friendly and prompt. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. The meal was at best mediocre, the pasta portions were fairly small and the sauces were watery. The garlic pizza bread was also soggy and actually just a pizza base with tomato sauce, I genuinely couldn't taste any garlic and as my daughter hates tomatoes she wouldn't eat any whereas she loves real garlic bread. However, my real issue is the price. £83. For 2 adults and two children. No alcoholic drinks, just lemonade and basic pasta dishes. It left a real sting in the evening. Sadly won't be returning.

This has been a favourite of ours for years due to the fun service and excellent food. However, our latest visit was our last. The waiting staff were rude, the pasta dishes watery and below par and a total rip off at £25 for the tiniest fillet steaks we’ve ever seen, on top of which a sauce, chips and salad each cost extra! Meaning an unenjoyable midweek meal ended up costing us almost £100 for 3 people.

Beautiful quiet restaurant with fantastic Italian food

An exceptional dining experience on a bustling Friday evening, the service was remarkably quick from the moment we stepped in and the menu boasted an impressive array of classic Italian dishes. The staff were very friendly and were able to accommodate us last minute, I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Food was very nice. The penne funghi was very flavourful and was a good portion. The pizza was great with a very good base. My only complaint would be that my server was unenthusiastic and looked a bit done.

Came after Christmas with family, having visited a few years previously. This time, we were very disappointed, no warm greeting, and although service was quick, neither the young lady nor the older chap smiled. The meal was OK the kids enjoyed their pizzas, and the adults meals were just ok. Shocked to find 10% service charge on the bill when the menu says gratuities are at your discretion, so had this removed, which did not go down well.

We went for a large family meal today (sorry anyone sat near us, that many under 8’s are never quiet). The food was amazing, reasonably priced, and excellent service. Thank you

I was so looking forward to a traditional Italian but was a little disappointed with the food. It's not bad but I've been to better Italians with more delicious food. It was just uninspiring and a bit boring. It was also pretty uncomfortable as the chairs were hard. Not sure I'll bother again. A shame as there are hardly any Italian restaurants in our area of Cornwall. It seems quite popular at lunchtime though. Maybe I should have had the pasta which looked better than my meat dish.

Our favourite pizzas … We dine in regularly, and have never been disappointed. We have on the last couple of a occasions ordered take out …. So delighted with the service … perfect timing as the pizzas were ready for us to collect…we recommend to all our friends. You are the best !!!

The dishes were very small, they looked like a tapa more than a main dish, the service was not very professional, the truth is the experience has not been good, I do not recommend it.

Great place for an authentic experience

Very disappointing lunch. Service was slow and we had to ask 3 times for drinks that we had ordered. The rest of the party's food was OK but 2 lasagnes were terrible. A lump of hard pasta in the middle of the plate covered in tomato sauce. No white sauce and not a sight of cheese on it. When we came to pay they didn't want to split the bill as we were paying individually and I had to ask 3times for separate bills. The waiter wasn't happy with this and rolled his eyes. He even took back the chocolates that were on the plate. We won't go again!

Have been here a few times, the food is delicious and not too pricey. I believe most of the staff are Italian or Sardinian. Only issue was the waiter trying to take our plates away while we were still eating but I put this down to an overabundance of efficiency, which I appreciate. Although I did ask them to give us a few more minutes! Overall, a nice place to eat and it's always busy which says more about the place than I can.

We had a very good experience here before going on to the Hall for Cornwall. The service was quick but not rushed, the food was of a very good quality and very reasonably priced. Decor is somewhat dated, but if you are look for tasty Italian food and prompt service, we would throughly recommend

Food wasn't too bad, its just the service, it wasn't terrible but just felt like an inconvenience as others have said. Shame, grew up in Truro and this has been around for years. Place was rammed though so maybe just wrong timing. Unfortunately won't be going back as a consequence of this visit though.

Love this restaurant, been eating here for years, had a momentary blip when Pierro left but then he's come back and it's business as usual. Good food, speedy service and friendly atmosphere.

Very slow service. 40mins from order till we got our starters, we were there nearly 2 hours before our mains arrived - felt as if we had been forgotten about! Many tables had arrived after us and been served before and already left before we’d had anything to eat. Waiter seemed to only remember us when he’d walked past us multiple times and seen us without food and then seemed to rush our starters out of the kitchen without apology. Additionally, at the end of all this the food could be described as mediocre at best. Would like to think this was due to it being a busy evening but won’t be rushing back.

Beautiful little place excallent service amazing food

Opted for lunchtime special ravioli for £9 - when it came it was 4 pieces of ravioli with sauce on a plate with one cherry tomato. Could have had a bowl of pasta for £12 so no comparison with price and portion size. When paying bill was asked how food was so said ok but 4 pieces of ravioli for 9 quid not acceptable. This did not go down well and was told i was the 1st person to complain but that was ok. What on earth has happened to this place have been coming here since it opened- no tip left and won't be returning

Poor service. Slow to take drinks orders. Nearly 25 mins after we were seated. Pizza was heavily caked in toppings and undercooked. Older waiter was quite unfriendly to us… almost treated us an inconvenience (but was overtly flirty and friend to a table of females). Won’t return again.

First time visiting always busy so thought it would be worth checking it out. Wasn't disappointed. Food was great as was the general atmosphere of the place. Only just managed to get a table they were almost fully booked but glad we were able to sample some lovely Italian dishes. Would certainly visit again.

We came as a party of 9 tonight. For our mother's birthday. The service was good and the steaks were tasty. We recommend to big groups as there is something for everyone. Limonchello was a lovely dessert!

Visit many times and never a problem until now , wasn't busy so our drinks and starters arrived quite quickly but then went downhill from here on in couples who arrived after and order mains after us seemed to get them before ours and waited 40 minutes for our food which was incorrect but as we had waited so long we just ate and left Not sure if we will return after this

On a busy Saturday night in Cornwall's Cathedral city, our first choice of eaterie was a bust - too noisy and not relaxing. After looking at a few alternatives we came across Piero's. A short queue didn't put us off, and the friendly owner showed us to a table after only a short wait. Although the place was packed, people were comin g and going the whole time, so it seems that a queue is standard procedure here. The menu is varied, although not that extensive, and we can recommend the ultra-fresh calamari fritti, and the great pizzas. Service is fast enough without ever seeming to hurry the diners, and the prices are very reasonable - 2 people eating and drinking for less than fifty quid.

Really nice atmosphere lots of natural light with a real family atmosphere. The pizzas were not too bad, the green salad was very boring. But apart from that it wasn't too bad at all.

Superb Italian cuisine. I had Penne Arrabiata. Delicious. Followed by Lemon Sorbet with Limoncello. The red wine was excellent too. Service was quick. Excellent meal. Will be returning.

Ate here after arriving in Truro for a few days. Quite busy but friendly and accommodating. Sadly, food wasn't anything special and wouldn't really recommend. Pizza's were covered with too many tomatoes and onions and other veg on the pizza were uncooked and quite sickly.

We booked for a party of five to celebrate a friend's significant birthday. After waiting a full hour after being seated, we were served (after we asked for a server). When we finally got our food, almost an hour later after that, the garlic pizza...

Swift friendly service. Good food. Wrapped up leftover pizza. Even a lesson in correct pronunciation 🤣What’s not to like?

Called in at 2.20pm and asked if they were still serving food. Their reply was that everyone went home at 3.15pm. We asked if it was ok to still order and they ushered us in reluctantly. This was our mistake. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and stayed but we should have not inconvenienced them as that is exactly how they made us feel. We were handed a menu and within two minutes the waiter asked what we wanted and told us not to order the first item on the specials menu as “it takes too long”. We ordered quickly, just a pasta dish each and a soft drink each. The food came, the drinks never did and there was no water on the table. Both pasta dishes were thrown on the plate, were mediocre at best and small portions. Poor service, poor food, terribly unwelcoming atmosphere, shabby uncared for decor. Not a single positive thing to say, wholly disappointed !!! We live locally, usually adore Italian food and eat out regularly but we will never eat here again and nor would we recommend it !

Popped in for lunch on a Tuesday. Entered at 2.20pm to be told staff would be leaving at 3pm. We were seated & virtually immediately asked if we were ready to order. Waiter took our order for food & drinks. Food came out very quickly…...

Been here before, food is fine although olive bread had next to no olives in it, my wife had Chicken Kiev looked great & she said it was fresh & tasty & a large portion. Pizza's are OK. All let down by waiting for half of our drinks as some was brought over & others left on the bar, had to ask for them! Followed by the rather rude older grey haired Italien gentleman (waiter) serving us. Dolcic tone asked if we were ready to order, I asked for a veggie pizza with anchovies. He said he was busy & there was other poeple to see too! & that I should have the seafood pizza, which I said I didn't want a seafood one. Just a veggie with anchovies. After a couple of minutes he said FINE! This spoilt the who tempo of our time in there (4 people). No apology was given. Needles to say, no tip was given, I won't be returning here again. Will start to use the one that's in the market square area. Finally feel free to read my other reviews as I am quite generous but not here unfortunately. Having read various other reviews there's a pattern with the table service. Dave

Great atmosphere the evening we visited but over priced Italian dishes... My dish was meant to have prawns and aubergine but so poor returned as hardly any in my pasta just tomato sauce. Waited 40mins for water. Shame as could be good but attention to detail shabby.

First time in Piero's in a while down from London for the summer, But used to eat here regularly and was usually consistent. This time although I have few complaints about the food, the service was appalling. We arrived at 7:30 and didn't order food till 8:30. A friend was 'shaking' with hunger before our starters arrived. The Arancini was a tiny portion, the balls need to be bigger. The saltimbocca was delicious as I remember. but we didn't leave till 10;20 having got in at 7:30 it was very slow. Waiters seem completely clueless. a Flat Coca-Cola, and a waiter that pointedly ignored one of our party. Spoilt the evening.

Poor and unenthusiastic service. Needs a revamp urgently. Decided to overlook this and hope the food would make up for it, it did not. Lump wilting salad served with very oily and greasy arrancini balls. I ordered the tomato salad, and got a plate of tomatos.

Lovely little authentic Italian restaurant with all the classic dishes on offer and some fresh ideas. Nice wine menu. Lovely service. Very friendly. This was our first visit on a busy Thursday evening. We hadn't booked and had already been turned away by two other venues. Despite being busy, they found a table for my mum and me and turned out delicious food. I'm so glad. What a happy accident. We'll definitely be back but I promise we will book next time 😋

Found this gem on Google, last minute last evening holiday dinner. So happy we did find this place. The staff were so family friendly and super accommodating. The food authentic and delicious. I had the linguine and my husband and kids had the pizza, I had a slice of their pizza too and then we had fudge cake and cheesecake for dessert. Will be back again next year for more!

This is a nice restaurant which has quite a bit of room in doors. The staff was polite and professional, and friendly enough. The pizza was very good. We ended up paying around 16 a head for a pizza and a drink each which is very reasonable. Would definitely come back for another visit.

I've not been to Piero's for about 15 years, fed up with many experiences of great food but poor service. A group of friends decided to give it a try last weekend, and I can only say Wow! Excellent food, friendly and attentive staff, and great value. So happy this restaurant has now got it all, 10 out of 10, well done 👏

Great authentic Italian food, better than a chain restaurant!

Lovely food, lovely staff, lovely place. Food was amazing, came out amazing. Owner was lovely to talk to as well as watching the pizzas being made and put into the oven. Lovely chat with the pizza maker and he said that he loved the job. Will be coming back soon the next time I come back to Cornwall again.

Pizzas are fantastic! Service is iffy at best, no real warmth to it, which is a real shame as you have something to be proud of! Just feels a bit grubby, which is a pity as it just needs a really good clean and a lick of paint. Got something good, but could be great with a bit of love and attention. Would I go back? For the food, yes.
