People voting this 5* are absolutely deluded. ‘authentic Italian’ but don’t know what a Napoletana is?! Bog standard and salty food. Out of order toilet. Over priced drinks. Rude and uninterested staff (3 tables waiting whilst 3/4 staff just chatted and joked). Carlsberg as the only beer on tap in an Italian?? Or pay £5 for a small warm bottle of peroni.. Decent wine at £9 a glass.. no ‘how is your food’, ‘would you like to see dessert’. Absolute joke.

Made a reservation for my parents here so they could have a nice evening out together as they don’t often treat themselves. They are brutally blunt people and they still said it was the best meal out they’ve had in many years! I was able to pay for a voucher in advance to cover the cost of the meal and reserve a table which was handy They went for the steaks which were cooked perfectly and seasoned incredibly The deserts were also great. The ice cream as good as the gelato you can get in mainland Italy When I went myself several times before this and the pizza has consistently been incredible Friendly staff, amazing service, very reasonably priced for the quality you’re getting, and probably the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to outside of Italy Very *very* well recommended

An Italian family runs this restaurant serving authentic Pasta and Pizza. Be prepared for Italian flare with the service.

We were just looking to refuel after a long walk on the south coast path and were pleasantly surprised. My lasagna did not look like your classic lasagna but was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. My partner had a chicken pasta dish he also very much enjoyed. We shared ice cream for dessert, which was good too. Food and wine reasonably priced. Staff were welcoming and attentive. The restaurant was half-full on a Monday night in February, which I take as a good sign. If they turned the lighting and the music down a little I would give 5 stars.

I visited Pieros on a busy Friday night with my friend and his girlfriend. Booking was fast and easy. The staff when we arrived however were very rude. I’m not sure if it was an age thing due to us being in our early twenties but the older waiters were outright rude and ignorant. We waited over an hour and a half for mains (by which time I was on my third drink) and we had to ask twice for a bread baskets which should have been included in our antipasti. People who had arrived an hour after us were already being served food. The food was nice but in no way worth the wait. After speaking to our server after the meal about the wait he was completely dismissive and rude (even when trying to pay). Overall it was a terrible experience and I won’t be returning. Surely it shouldn’t be an age thing, a paying customer should be treated the same as any other.

We came here on Saturday on a whim, no booking. I came with family at opening time and they let us in with no booking, served us almost immediately and we had very little wait on food. We were given great recommendations for food by Andre, the friendly and funny waiter with amazing tattoos. We had olives and bread, bruscetta, pizzas and the incredible tiramisu. 5/5 this place was excellent. Couldn’t recommend it more.

A delightful lunch on our anniversary. One of the best pizzas that I've had and my wife was.more than pleased with her pomadoro spaghetti. We'll be back soon for her birthday. Highly recommended!

Absolutely incredible food - the best Italian I have had outside of Italy! The garlic pizza to start was packed full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I had the Penne All' Arrabiata and it was the best pasta dish I’ve had anywhere in the world! Incredible flavours from this authentic gem of an Italian. Random Saturday in November at lunch and the restaurant was full.

Great local restaurant and that serves proper genuine Italian food. Highly recommended!

We always come back to Pieros as it is really family friendly, it always has food that even the fussiest child will eat. Its also reasonably priced for delicious food and friendly service. Most pubs and restaurants are now charging £15-20+ for even a basic meal, so its great to be able to take the whole family out, everyone have 2 courses, drinks and coffee and it come to less than £100. I sometimes come in for lunch as a treat with my son and at £20 for both our lunches and a soft drink each, its not that much more than a pasty and can sat on a bench. It always feels welcoming and I love that its always busy with people that are known to the family that run it, there aren't many family run restaurants anymore.

Very disappointing. Food lacked flavour, veg was sad and old looking. The sauces were made from the same base and altered to work with, what should have been, completely different dishes! I ordered garlic butter mushrooms they came in a brownish sauce and I couldn’t taste garlic. The decor was grubby, in need of updating. The toilets (located near the kitchen) smelled awful and looked unclean. The chips were dry and tasteless. It was like an old cafe experience charging restaurant prices. I wouldn’t go back. Well overpriced for what they’re serving.

It was a nice restaurant. The staff were very polite and the food was good. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars was the table was sticky and wobbly and didn't get corrected until we had finished. Having said that, we would go again.

Excellent pizza at a pleasant price. Pasta and pizza are also available gluten-free. Friendly and fast service in a cozy atmosphere.

Extremely fast service, nice enough food. Felt a little tired, like it would have been top notch in 1990 something, which we just found kind off endearing, but possibly not for everyone. Felt a little rushed by the waiter, was still chewing my last mouthful when the plates were taken

We were sat right in the entry. It wasn’t a great position. Waiters/ waitresses walking back and forth constantly. Starters good but wasn’t delivered with bread as advertised. I asked and got given two lots of bread despite us ordering three. Pizzas were divine. Chicken tikka really yummy - not cubes of fake chicken proper shredded chicken. Inferno a yummy pizza. Pasta good. Desserts ridiculously priced so didn’t have. Service a bit grumpy. Very very busy. Not the best pizzas I’ve ever had but nice.

Awful, when entering wasn’t greeted just told there you go’ and a short rude waiter called Stefano gestured towards a table. Drinks slammed down on the table by the same rude waiter. No warm welcome food average at best I had a veal lemon dish which was gelatinous to say the least my daughter did enjoy her kid’s bolognaise. I was so shocked by the rudeness I actually asked other diners which they also agreed was rude. Their was a nice lady at the bar who I felt I could approach about the server who said that she’s leaving due to him and he’s always like that’. There is another taller waiter who was nice and made effort to make my daughter happy (extra chocolate sauce on her ice cream etc. they both need credit and if management are reading this please SACK this Stefano he’s a risk in more bad reviews this place looks the business from the outside shame this guy is letting them down To the other staff you are wonderful and I thank you so much I had to give it only two stars one for each of you

Staff were pleasant and friendly. Food was fine. However, a service charge of 10% was included on the bill. OK, but then on paying by credit card a further charge of 20% was solicited. We complained and were told it was a mistake. Difficult to see how it could be a mistake. Bill plus 10% and then an additional 20%. In fact an additional charge of 32% if we had agreed to both. America comes to Truro.

Was excited to try the food been recommended. however, it was very bland and underwhelming for the price ( I had the seafood pasta) staff were pleasant enough I was hoping for a taste of Italy but it just didn't deliver.

Used to come here 30 years ago and whenever I think of Truro I think of Piero’s. I was here again with my family (they had never been before) on Tuesday evening and it was exactly as I remembered. Amazing food and lovely people! This is definitely the best Italian food around and the garlic pizza is to die for! My family are hooked now too! We will be back and will not be leaving it so long this time.

Finally a real Italian restaurant, very good aubergine parmigiana, very good desserts made by them, very Italian guys, fast and friendly. It feels like home, thank you

Wait a little long but the food is good value for money

This was the best experience I have ever had related to food. The pizza was out of this world, the service they gave us was incredible and although it's a little pricey I'd say it's worth every penny. And since we came before lunch it was just me and my 2 friends and I believe it was the manager or just a gentleman doing work but they were so kind they also gave us a free pizza. When I walked out of there I've been dreaming of going back since.

If you aren't a regular you aren't important. We live locally and maybe once a year we say let's give it another chance. Well this was the very last. Everytime we go we find the staff so rude and dismissive. This time was no different, we stood for almost 5 mins to be seated whilst the staff discussed us with apparent annoyance as we dared to attend without a booking. Then once reluctantly seated we waited 20 mins for someone to take a drink order and 40 mins in total after asking twice for our food order to be taken, after 3 tables that came in after us had both drink and food ordered and we were totally ignored. The food arrived and was so very bland and insipid, we had veal saltimbocca and a veal dish with mushroom both were completely tasteless and basic at £18 a dish with extra fries that tasted like old chip pan fat we did not enjoy the food. We also received a chicken pasta dish which was absolutely disgracefull no flavour a couple of bits of chicken with almost no sauce, actually very poor and a disgrace to serve. We asked for a beer and never received it then they had the cheek to try and charge us for it. we feel a bill of £90 after all this was a total rip off. We however paid to avoid trouble, we have see staff fight with clients in here but we will never return, they forget local people pay their bills when it's quieter in winter. I'd rather eat a tin of pasta than eat there again. Don't be fooled, they smile as you enter but they care very little about the quality they provide.

We were in Truro and looking for somewhere to eat. We came across this place and though,give it ago. First time eating here and will go back. We had to wait a while because we ordered the specials which took longer to prepare. However the food was delicious. Looking forward too going back

The food is ok, but the service is bad. The dining chairs are just not comfortable enough for the time it takes you to be served. Honestly, the waiters seem genuinely unhappy to be working there, and show no interest in providing any level of service... Or maybe they were having a bad day...I doubt we'll go back to try again. We'll just give this place a miss.

I normally pop into Pieros twice a year or so whenever down in Cornwall. Yesterday was the total opposite of my previous experiences. Maybe it was because it's still early June. We entered and there was only a two tables of customers The waiter was a sullen elderly chap who we had waited on us before. He freaked of body odour which was off putting and seemed to be the only person serving at first. The table was sticky with grease. What annoyed me the most was the we ordered and then three other tables came in, ordering copious amount of food; yet our mains seemed to take forever. We ordered chips- they took me back to being at school- totally devoid of any flavour. Pasta was just okay.

Me and my family always come here and have a great time, the pizzas are amazing the service is amazing and the atmosphere is nice and calm. This place never disappoints us

Always beautiful food here, no complaints at all. Maybe there was a new waiter on his first evening service the other night but the young lad didn’t really have a clue. He’ll learn the longer he works there perhaps. Not really a complaint at all. But there was a particularly miserable waiter who came across rude and irritated. Maybe he’d had a bad day…… Other than that we’ll be back as always.

Visiting here always makes you feel like you are on holiday

Been coming to Pieros for years. The food was absolutely incredible as usual, very authentic which is a rarity these days. The staff were very polite and kind to my kids, making sure the kiddies pizzas were not just good portions but individual shapes for them which they loved. I can’t rate the restaurant highly enough there’s nothing quite like it in Cornwall!

Met my sister there for lunch, as it is her favourite restaurant. Staff were rude, no eye contact and very offhand. We walked out and went across the road to a ery different welcome

What a great place. 5 of ate there mid week. Everything was perfectly cooked. The sardinian waiter/maitre de was so good and friendly. We will definitely go there again. 2 bottles of wine, 3 starters, 5 mains, 1 pudding, 1 coffee(dbl) and 3 cheeky grappas. TOTAL 160.

Positives are that the waiting staff were all friendly and prompt. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. The meal was at best mediocre, the pasta portions were fairly small and the sauces were watery. The garlic pizza bread was also soggy and actually just a pizza base with tomato sauce, I genuinely couldn't taste any garlic and as my daughter hates tomatoes she wouldn't eat any whereas she loves real garlic bread. However, my real issue is the price. £83. For 2 adults and two children. No alcoholic drinks, just lemonade and basic pasta dishes. It left a real sting in the evening. Sadly won't be returning.

This has been a favourite of ours for years due to the fun service and excellent food. However, our latest visit was our last. The waiting staff were rude, the pasta dishes watery and below par and a total rip off at £25 for the tiniest fillet steaks we’ve ever seen, on top of which a sauce, chips and salad each cost extra! Meaning an unenjoyable midweek meal ended up costing us almost £100 for 3 people.

An exceptional dining experience on a bustling Friday evening, the service was remarkably quick from the moment we stepped in and the menu boasted an impressive array of classic Italian dishes. The staff were very friendly and were able to accommodate us last minute, I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Food was very nice. The penne funghi was very flavourful and was a good portion. The pizza was great with a very good base. My only complaint would be that my server was unenthusiastic and looked a bit done.

First time visiting this restaurant and will definitely be back. The restaurant was extremely busy as it was Christmas eve. The Service and food were fantastic.

Came after Christmas with family, having visited a few years previously. This time, we were very disappointed, no warm greeting, and although service was quick, neither the young lady nor the older chap smiled. The meal was OK the kids enjoyed their pizzas, and the adults meals were just ok. Shocked to find 10% service charge on the bill when the menu says gratuities are at your discretion, so had this removed, which did not go down well.

We went for a large family meal today (sorry anyone sat near us, that many under 8’s are never quiet). The food was amazing, reasonably priced, and excellent service. Thank you

I was so looking forward to a traditional Italian but was a little disappointed with the food. It's not bad but I've been to better Italians with more delicious food. It was just uninspiring and a bit boring. It was also pretty uncomfortable as the chairs were hard. Not sure I'll bother again. A shame as there are hardly any Italian restaurants in our area of Cornwall. It seems quite popular at lunchtime though. Maybe I should have had the pasta which looked better than my meat dish.

Our favourite pizzas … We dine in regularly, and have never been disappointed. We have on the last couple of a occasions ordered take out …. So delighted with the service … perfect timing as the pizzas were ready for us to collect…we recommend to all our friends. You are the best !!!

The dishes were very small, they looked like a tapa more than a main dish, the service was not very professional, the truth is the experience has not been good, I do not recommend it.

Great place for an authentic experience

Very disappointing lunch. Service was slow and we had to ask 3 times for drinks that we had ordered. The rest of the party's food was OK but 2 lasagnes were terrible. A lump of hard pasta in the middle of the plate covered in tomato sauce. No white sauce and not a sight of cheese on it. When we came to pay they didn't want to split the bill as we were paying individually and I had to ask 3times for separate bills. The waiter wasn't happy with this and rolled his eyes. He even took back the chocolates that were on the plate. We won't go again!

This is my favourite place to eat anywhere around here. Nice polite staff, very good food, and a real relaxed feeling to the place, top restaurant!!!
