Service received was disgraceful! Very rude and blunt staff. We were left waiting for what felt like ages just to look at a menu we requested. Other parties were obviously a priority and the staff were in no such hurry to serve us. Food average but nothing special. They then had the cheek to ask for a tip!!!!!

Really warm friendly atmosphere with a quick service .

Lovely Italian restaurant with classic dishes but also some with a new twist. Enjoyed one pizza and one chicken rigatone with complimentary glass of limoncello. Great find in Truro which seems to be a very sleepy place where streets are deserted by 7pm!

Food - Below average, very sad as this was our first time coming here, we were really excited, and VERY disappointed. Also VERY expensive for something you could get a Pizza Hut or likewise for cheaper. Service - Service was INCREDIBLY slow, and when food arrived waitress and waiter had to double check what order they were actually carrying in their hands. And we were made to feed VERY uncomfortable. Atmosphere - We were made to feel like we were in the wrong. It was EXTREMELY loud and could hardly hear what the people were saying opposite. When it came to pay, I showed my blue light discount for 30% off food, he said he couldn’t accept it. And made up 3 excuses even though all the Ts&Cs were met. He was especially rude to my partner who actually walked out the restaurant as I was paying. If I could give a 0 start rating for atmosphere I would. WE WONT BE RETURNING.

Rude waiter and beyond terrible food. After three bad meals it's not going to get better and it's not an off day for them it's just how they choose to run it.. we go to a different restaurant around the corner now instead

Perfect for pre theatre dinner, about 2 mins walk from Hall for Cornwall. The decor is thoughtful and interesting, the service was quick and efficient whilst not being overbearing. The menu has everything you'd expect in a good Italian restaurant, although we weren't very adventurous with our carbinara and spag bol....both excellent. There were some nice touches like the complimentary real lemonade shots to start. I also loved the mini dessert plus coffee option, perfect if you just want a little something sweet. Highly recommend.

Very poor quality food and very poor service. The food was that bad it really was inedible. How this place stays open is beyond me.

Service above and beyond from both the manager and waiter at the Truro Ask Italian! Very helpful, accommodating and understanding - especially with my Mother and our table. Thank you for all you did for us!

We've had many excellent meals here over the last 15 years, but last week was disappointing. The restaurant was cold. The welcome was poor - the manager spends his time at the bar and doesn't oversee how his diners are and there is a poor atmosphere with the staff. There only seemed to be one young waitress serving, rushed off her feet with an older waitress doing less and smelling of smoke. There were no pleasantries, the food was merely delivered with little interaction. The food itself was average I'm afraid - dry baked prawns, watery tepid bolognaise, bland dry pizza, although lovely garlic bread and ragu. The wine glasses are like beakers and not enjoyable. You pay for the experience, atmosphere, food quality and service, but all were lacking - I'd rather have been at home with a Waitrose pizza or in a pub. I'm afraid that this reflects upon the management. I really do hope that it can return to the way it was run a few years ago.

We had a surprise meal for my partners 40th with 22 of us there for dinner . Service was so prompt all the team did amazingly well and we are really grateful to all the staff for wonderful treatment on a such busy night. Especially for the Limoncello and candle in his dessert singing happy birthday, which we didn’t plan but the staff did. Thank you !

My children loved the new menu, everything was delicious 😋 especially the donuts to finish. I tried the new ravioli, which was very nice. Lovely, kind staff as always ❤️

We had a Xmas party here at Ask Italian on the 14/12/24. Delicious food and cocktails. Offered some refreshing lemonade shots on arrival. All the staff are very efficient and friendly especially the big thanks to the managers (Nelson Amanda Sandro & Gamal) who made us feel very welcome and made our party special. Also big thanks to our waiter Chris who was very pleasant and helpful. Perfection for a chain restaurant.

Poor service. Dry meals. Dirty cutlery. Wrong Prosecco delivered. Dessert rubbish not value for money. Voucher refused going against T&Cs for free garlic bread. Not received correct offer deal with second voucher (one main meal get another for £1. Ordered 4 main meals only received one for £1. Not a very happy birthday meal! Will not return. Poor value for money. Meals tasted like ready meals.

The food was delicious and arrived quickly. The staff were very accommodating and attentive particularly our waitress Angelica. She was very engaging.

My review seems to keep getting removed. I can provide evidence of purchase. Our son was given an incredibly hot bowl of spaghetti that burned him. Yes, food should come out hot, but not dangerously hot around children. When I told the waitress that I dont think food that hot should be served to children she just said “The food is fresh”. The stupidity of this comment annoyed me.

Avoid. Unacceptably bad and not for the first time. Both my visits have been poor. Two meals from a party of 6 had to be rejected as they were of such a low standard they actually unpleasant to eat. I tasted my mums Seasonal Carbonara and she was correct - I was unpleasant. And for the second time in three years, the Linguine con Frutti Di Mare was terrible - a super poor tomato sauce with no trace of seafood stock and very little seafood. To their credit, the manager was quick to remove the cost of these items from the bill. But that’s not the point. I could do better myself and won’t be going again. The sad thing is they get away with it while food of a very high standard is widely available in Italy at a similar price, even in tourist areas.

Ordered our food online at 4pm for pick at 6:30 pm. Showed up 30 minutes early by accident and our food was already ready waiting for us. The one dish was fairly hot but the lasagna was barely warm.

Upon entering a dude assuming to be the Italian stud unshaven drooling all 🤤 over a female staff member looked like he was over excited then major embarrassment when he turned around we were standing to ask for a table. He gave us a proper frosty reception. We scarpered!!!

Really didn't have a great time this time. Terrible for people with allergies and intolerances. Floor like glass. Cold food. Very disappointed tbh. Zizzi is so much better. Sadly there isn't one on Cornwall. Shan't be back.

My son’s food came out hotter than the sun. Ridiculously hot. So hot it could hurt someone of spilled on them. The heat in the food was also not uniform. I told the waitress that I dont think they should be serving food to children that hot. To which she replied~ it’s hot because it’s fresh. What an idiot. After our meal we went to the bathroom. If I had seen that bathroom before we ordered we probably would not have eaten there.

Food was okay, service was very slow, but maybe the influx of pre and post theatre goers affected things. The lack of soft furnishings means it's quite noisy, like a canteen, and my hubby struggles to hear in those conditions.

Typical Ask fare. Good pizza and pasta dishes. A little pricey but most food outlets are the same. We had an enjoyable meal.

The food appeared quickly but was very average for the money. I could tell that it had been rushed. It was luke warm and needed cooking a bit longer. Not one of the better pizzas I have eaten or one of my better dining experiences.

It was lovely to be back at Ask Italian, Truro this October for a most enjoyable evening meal. The staff were all welcoming, the service excellent and the atmosphere whilst lively never felt too loud or overpowering. We felt as if we had plenty of time to consider the extensive menu and once ordered the food arrived quickly and was delicious. Highly recommended.

Purely food related, as the service was great, but not sure what has happened to the standard of food here. Undercooked items; pasta wasn’t cooked thoroughly in parts and/or stuck together so was a little al dente for my liking, bitter black and burnt breads or undercooked dough in some cases. Never had a bad meal at Ask, so not sure what’s going on, could just of been a bad day in the office. Service was good though.

Slovenly individual apparently in charge who showed no interest in customers, girl who served us wanted to be somewhere else. Sent the prawns back as were grossly over cooked. rest just about OK Give it a miss. Parking very difficult.

What a waste of time, we visited before a show at hall for Cornwall and it really wasn’t good enough. The waiter seemed to have something else on his mind as he seemed to freeze thinking about where to seat us for a good few minutes, drinks order was wrong, gave us still water instead of sparkling, this was corrected and we were told to keep the still water (only to be charged for it at the end) My partner asked if the aperol spritz could be made with lemonade instead of soda water but this was ignored, the main was a disappointment as the carbonara was about a handful of spaghetti and was almost like a child’s portion. I ordered a desert (chocolate gnocchi) as the main was so small only to be told it was out of stock a good 5 minutes after we had all ordered, I reluctantly ordered a brownie which was like warm and abit lackluster. All in all I’d give it a miss considering we paid almost £30 each for a meal which I could have had a more for less round the corner at spoons…

I had a really lovely meal at Bella Italia. The food was delicious, with a good range of vegetarian options to choose from, which was great! The waiter was super friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The pricing was reasonable too, so it felt like good value for money. Overall, it's a nice place to eat with a pleasant atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend it for a casual, enjoyable dining experience.

Not as good as 12 months ago. Food is okay. Pasta good. Sauces covering pasta insubstantial, thin and lacking a depth of flavour. Cocktail was cheap because it was tiny. Would no longer recommend, maybe a bad night but have the sense ASK are cutting corners and in doing so cutting taste. Had run out of several desserts so didn't bother to order a dessert. Probably better to try a local Italian restaurant that isn't a chain and has more incentive to produce deep and rich flavours.

A regular to the restaurant for many years and this time served by chris who was excellent with us but also noticed with all diners. Nice to see some new happy faces delivering a great CX.

Best food and service i have had

Staying in truro for couple of days to see the sights. Decided to eat out and Decided on Ask Italian Restaurant.As soon as we entered the restaurant was greated with friendly manager who sorted out my aligy problem with food I could eat. Restaurant is decorated to a high standard. It's best Italian food I have ever tasted, and presented to a high standard. We had garlic bread with mozzarella cheese. Mains being pollo milanese and fruitti mare with linguine. If you are in Truro i recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed.

Last evening on visiting Ask I found it to be by far the best experience I've ever had in there having visited several times over the years. As always the food is fabulous but previously if I was going to give a constructive comment I've never rated the service that highly. Last night the combination of staff members were quite exceptional....they were efficient, extremely friendly and happy. It created a special buzz. The chefs were seeming happy in their stressful task providing the fine food for a busy restaurant Top marks to you all. Many thanks for turning an ordinary evening going out for a bite to eat with a mate into a special and fun night.

Fantastic food and had excellent service and they went out the way for my husbands birthday. They accommodated my allergies too.

Great food as always. Service a little slow on this occasion but they were very busy! The staff are very vigilant when it comes to allergies. They have a folder to check against all the potential ingredients which people may be allergic to and your meal comes with a sticker to say it has been made with your allergy in mind.

Recently went here was seated quickly and the atmosphere was amazing !! , food came quickly hot and very tasty as well as the cocktails I highly highly recommend this place to everyone

Have been several times recently both with friends and family. On every occasion the manager and staff were invariably friendly and attentive throughout. Great atmosphere and excellent food! Felt really comfortable and our little ones who were well catered for too. Would strongly recommend for a casual evening with friends and family. We’ll certainly be back :)

We went to Truro ASK Italian for lunch. The lady who greeted us was very pleasant and friendly and welcoming. The service was very slow as the restaurant was very busy at what was peak time for lunch. When the food arrived it was excellent but we had to wait too long. While slow though, the service was friendly and attentive. We also had a a very noisy birthday celebration on the next table. Given the above, I would have given 5 stars based on the good things.

Great experience at ask italian. Booked online easy, was welcomed well by Sandro who i believe to be the manager. Service from a young lad called Sharbel was perfect. Checked back on us well, very quick on the hand held customer service was made for him. thank you

Staff were helpful and friendly, food was good as usual. Ladies toilets really needed a deep clean , the sanitary bin was full 😅, cobwebs , smears on mirrors , toilet seat was very dirty .

We were blown away when they handed us over a folder for our dietary requirements without us even having to ask! We had recently had a bad experience at Zizzi's where even though we had extremely low battery on our phones the staff were insistent over and over that we scan the QR code to see the gluten free menu and said they did not have a hardcopy we could look at. The atmosphere was great and the place felt very luxurious. We were given a free shot of fresh lemonade as we sat down. They were very helpful and accommodating with my dietary issues. Pizza was much better than the gluten free pizza at Pizza Express.

first time visit myself and wife with daughter and son in law found service polite and efficient and friendly food was quick and tasty was busy but still got attended well was not a great fan of Italian food but this changed my mind will be going regularly now was relaxing and pleasant

Just dropped in for some takeout but the staff was incredibly friendly, funny and handsome lol. Also when we ordered we were told it would be 15 minutes. It was ready in 7. The deception😊 Highly recommend!

Standard ASK Italian; food is nice tasting, but the prices are starting to be a bit too high for the quality and portion size. Lots of independent eateries offer better value in terms of bang for buck

We had a nice dinner at Ask Italian. Even after booking a table, the table given was quite small - and I didn't have any space to move. But the service was lovely. They did serve good food. For starters, we ordered the Arancini - especially the goats cheese and beetroot one was my favourite. We also ordered the 'nduja and cheese dough bites - they were absolutely smashing!! The spicy sauce made them perfect. For mains, we ordered the beef pappardelle and the chicken and pancetta pizza. The pizza was good. But the pasta was exceptional. The cocktail I ordered was ok. We'll definitely go back to try more dishes there.

I visited Ask Italian Truro with family (6 adults and 4 children). As always, the service was top class and the food was amazing!! ⭐️

I always like to eat out at an Italian restaurant abroad because people are usually welcomed warmly there. Unfortunately that wasn't the case here. The calzone was excellent, the dessert was rather boring. The service representative was very difficult! In a previous review I found the right word...he gave the impression that he could hardly stand me....quite arrogant and dismissive. I've really never experienced anything like that. I would say I missed my job. A pity!

First time we’ve visited Ask Italian and we weren’t disappointed. It was busy ish when we arrived, but we weren’t kept waiting, we were shown to our table by a friendly waiter. The food was amazing, tasted great. Good value for money, good size portions, not rushed. Will definitely be going again

This is an absolute gem of a place. Lovely location and everything good about Italian cuisine. Beautiful fresh ingredients speak for themselves. Friendly staff who care about what they do.

Arrived and were sat right next to the serving hatch so couldn’t hear ourselves speak and constantly had a string waiting staff bellowing away next to our table. We ordered tapas style dishes and all came over cooked, to the point where most of it was stuck to the bottom of the dish and was inedible. I told the waiting staff at the beginning of the evening they I had a voucher for a free cocktail however at the end of the evening I was told I couldn’t redeem it as we hadn’t bought a ‘Main meal’ even though our bill came to the best part of £80! Maybe the waitress could have mentioned this as knew we had a voucher and took our order knowing we hadn’t ordered a main meal. Overall very disappointing and will not be returning again.

Second chance, still awful. I gave ASK a go waiting for an appointment back in March. I was left at the bar as two staff made drinks and walked off, no one said hold on a moment or even acknowledged me. There was an issue with the cookers so the menu was a bit reduced, no problem but the manager said it like he wanted me gone, so he could just close up, he was brusque, ignorant to attempted small conversation and walked off as I was speaking, it was so rude (the place was dead) and shoved the card machine at me half way through my meal. It gave me the impression he thought I was going to leg it! I felt singled out it was embarrassing. I did raise this with ASK directly and they issued a voucher for me to try again. Today was worse. Only 3 tables including me. Stood at the bar for ages whilst staff chatted. Was seated in the same table, next to the filthy shelf that still hadn’t been wiped. The female waitress was really polite and friendly thank goodness. Starter tasted nice (mushrooms) but pretty piddly portion wise. The prawn/crayfish tagliatelle was off, like, off off. Clearly microwaved as the middle bottom was hot but the rest was like warm and cold, not good for seafood! And the sausage side was anemic. The food was thrown out as fast as possible when there was no need to at all. It was just they could sit and chat more. The pudding was disappointing even though it’s their special. Never again, they really don’t give a toss and that’s bad news behaving like that to residents who keep it ticking over.

Lovely restaurant with open kitchen and good selection of beer can recommend the gran reserve beer. Nice limoncello while waiting for a lovely cooked pizza.
