Totally surprising place making delicious alcohol-free cocktails with extremely researched ingredients, the vast majority of them locally sourced if not self-grown. The place is like an intimate garden; the scent the choose to diffuse is relaxing and interesting. The owners are charming and welcoming, as we entered they gave us a tasting tour of their specialties!

An explosion of beautifully foraged flavours in a great range of drinks and sweet treats. I loved learning about the foraging process and really liked that everything was nonalcoholic too!

This place was recommended to me by a friend and didn't disappointed. Unique ethos with pretty much every ingredient locally sourced. Opportunity to sample flavours before ordering drinks. Really special experience. Can't wait to revisit in the summer and sit outside, in this hudden gem in the heart of Winchester

An exquisite surprise to find uniquely sourced drinks made using natural ingredients, served by a fountain of knowledge barista. It was the best hot drink I have drunk in the UK, and I enjoyed the conversations and inspirations. I will visit again Thank you for the degustations, so rare those high quality products and served in a beautiful relaxed space.

So! You want to experience the local culture and taste some good English food. Then enjoy the deliciuosly tasteful and non alcoholic drinks made from self-foraged herbs, condiments and ingredients from the area. Especially the Almond cookies!! Every drink and food is made with heartfelt Care and in depth knowledge for the original English cooking craftmanship. Take your time and talk with the owner and companion about the ideology behind and not just get your tastebuds awaken but also inspired.

This was my second visit to this wonderfully unique place. As a solo visitor, I felt really welcome and able to stay for as long as I wished in the beautifully thought out, comfortable surroundings. The Roman tonic was exceptional, I loved the information to understand it’s provenance, which made it all the more special. Thank you, I look forward to visiting again in the new year!

A fabulous little mysterious herbal cafe hidden in the depths of Winchester. Amazing food and drinks and the owner and his staff couldn't look after you any better. This cafe brings hope back to Winchester.

This place is beyond incredible. Eoin and Oliver make everything feel so incredibly welcome and it’s like coming home. I had family over from Ireland and I took them there, they thought it was fantastic. The drinks are like nothing you’ve had before - most of them take years to brew snf the flavours are unbelievable. Having a business like this is very unique and we are so thrilled they are in Winchester, the clients they have are smart and refined and eveyone comes back b/c it’s such a special place.

What an amazing place. I can’t believe I’ve not stumbled across it before! It’s run by a man with a complete passion for what he’s doing. He’s on a mission to reduce food miles, to promote old English recipes and ingredients, and to improve our biomes. He forages and sources all his ingredients locally. For example, tapping local trees to make his delicious sweet syrup, digging up local roots to make cordials. All this doesn’t sound very appetising but I had a cobnut drink, which was absolutely delicious! (He buys his cobnuts from a 94-year-old farmer.) Quite pricey, but the legwork he puts into the venture is the reason…

We were looking for a drink in the afternoon and ended up near Proudfoot. What an interesting place. Drinks and snacks sourced from local ingredients and old recipes. Not only interesting and sustainable, also extremely nice. The experience nicely packaged, with an upfront tasting of the ingredients. Altogether a great place, albeit not cheap.

Went with my SO and the in-laws. We stumbled on this place on our way to the cathedral. The drinks were interesting, but nothing special. Wasn't exactly blown away considering how expensive it was. It's all made to seem like some grand spectacle - but in reality it's just some millennial hipster fella rummaging around the local bushes for unique ingredients that should probably be just left for the wildlife to eat! Awful music. Great decor. Intimidating and nosy staff. Easy to get to. Bit pretentious, I can see why this is the only bar of its type in the city. I hope nothing else opens up like this because the in-laws will have to visit me at home instead!

As I am a recovering alcoholic, we are forever hunting for places and experiences that enable us to enjoy a night out without the pressure of my sobriety being the elephant in the room. And boy, did we luck out when we curiously crossed the Proudfoot threshold. The lounge manager, Oliver was on hand every step of the way as we journeyed through the wondrous world of ingredients that lie at the heart of every magical drink on offer here. His passion and knowledge for the place, the ingredients and the all important message shone through. The story is a bold one indeed - from finance to the forest, Proudfoot is born from a passion for food sustainability, healthier living and flavour exploration. What is amazing is that there’s nothing totally new going on here, but simply old secrets revived and given a modern take. We loved our first step in to the unknown. We weren’t drinking replacements to alcohol, we were truly trying and enjoying each surprising drink simply because it was delicious and inspired. We loved the style of the place too. From the music to the decor, this place has been lovingly crafted by someone with a clear vision. Bumping in to Mr Proudfoot himself before we left and learning even more about this special business was an added bonus indeed. Well worth a visit if you want to be surprised and delighted as well as gain a new perspective or two. We will be back!

This is such an interesting venue and the investment in staff has clearly paid off, they are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The drinks were delicious, fresh and different. Understanding the research and history behind them and the work that goes into mixing them gave us all a great experience. I hope this gem of a place does well.

We stumbled upon this place whilst browsing the streets of Winchester. Instantly we knew that it was such a unique and special venue. The management and staff were incredibly hospitable and passionate about the products and were such genuine people. It is so fascinating and inspiring that they use ancient techniques to create the most delicious drinks. Can’t recommend here enough if you are in Winchester and fancy some refreshments!

We walked by and were intrigued by the drinks on offer. We entered and we were greeting really warmly.
