Absolutely terrible. We were sold a carnival Cabaret - with aerialist, fun car oval games and the fun atmosphere of the carnival… and in reality we had none of those things. There were two performers who loosely entertained us with a tiny step up from karaoke, burlesque-ish and some comedy. The food arrived cold, and somewhat inedible. Overall don’t bother.

The show was fantastic, the staff were friendly, the food was good and the only criticism was that it was cold but to be honest you don’t go there for the food and i am sure they use outside catering hence the cold food. Their preorder link was not user friendly but they responded promptly every time I had to send them an email The ambiance was very good and the acts were great. We had an amazing time. Will definitely go back

DO NOT BOOK THE DRAG BRUNCH!!! IT IS A SCAM!!! I booked this for myself and 14 friends as a surprise for my wife's 30th birthday. Two days before the brunch was supposed to happen I got an email saying it had been cancelled last minute as not enough tickets had been sold, which given it was a Sunday in August I find very hard to believe as it would've been peak season in Brighton and we had 15 tickets in just one group. I immediately requested a refund and was ignored repeatedly by phone and email, until after MONTHS of chasing for almost £800 I was able to get my bank to issue a refund. I've still had absolutely no communication from Proud regarding the matter, even to try and reschedule if a refund wasn't possible or even to offer an apology. Other reviews have had exactly the same experience and I'm convinced that the venue never had any intention of running the event and that they regularly run this SCAM!! Even if it's not, the customer service has been diabolical and I would recommend finding one of the other many brunches in Brighton, at least with them you might actually get what you've paid for. ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE.

Told to get there 11.15am. On arrival informed the brunch didn't start until 12.30 so we had to order and pay extortionate prices for drinks. Then only one type of drink on the brunch, disgusting blueberry vodka...minus the vodka!!! Acts miming! We left half way through..thank goodness we had already had great experiences in other bars in Brighton of drag performances, for free.

Bit of a let down. I organised a surprise evening at Proud Brighton for my partners birthday with a 5 course meal and drinks on arrival. Was told to get there before 7pm which we did to find the bouncer was very rude. Also the show didnt start until 2.5hours later!! Once inside the hostess asked my partner if he would like a birthday cake with sparklers for an extra £10 which I thought was very insensitive considering that part should have been a suprise so she should have asked me in private!! When I booked a spent alot of time emailing them regarding my dietary requirements but the waitress kept getting it muddled up. Also we had to chase for the welcome drinks. To be honest the host Dave the Bear and some of the acts were the only good thing about the night but for £300 for 2 ppl I would have expected this to be a class service. Very disappointed.

The staff were friendly and the decor of the place is cool. It was disappointing that we did not get the food we had pre-ordered and got told that was all there was. The place was half empty which I know they can’t necessarily control but it wasn’t as vibey as you’d expect. In terms of the bottomless cocktails there was only one option which was super sweet - would have been useful to have at least a couple of choices, so I probably had one drink and our party ended up ordering outside of this - food and bottomless cocktails definitely not worth the money - I would recommend maybe opting for Prosecco instead if you want a boozy experience. Also it does say in the email small print in hindsight but there was a £70 service charge added at the end which I was not expecting and I’d tried to be upfront with our group about the costs so it did leave a bit of a sour note at the end.

We were looking forward to this and travelled to Brighton specifically to see this show. We arrived at the advertised time, as did other people. The place was closed and a local told us that it is never open on Sundays. Luckily, I booked this using a credit card. They have not responded to my email or phone calls from myself and other people. Keep well away from this outfit. UPDATE: 2nd August 2024 Design My Night contacted me about my one star review of them on Trustpilot. They have forwarded my email onto Proud Cabaret Brighton who have not responded. My credit card company have opened a dispute and I have contacted Trading Standards to investigate this company. After further research, I have found that my experience is a common occurrence. UPDATE: 7th October 2024 Despite Design My Night emailing them, they have still not contacted me. Such a relief that I used my credit card and my money is refunded under the Section 75 Agreement.

Absolutely gutted to be writing a poor review after such a highly anticipated evening. Firstly, I booked the 5 course meal and when we got there, I was told it was 3 courses. Thankfully, this was rectified quickly. The email and its contents I had before the show really let this place down. The email was incredibly demanding. It stated that we should be there "no later" than 15 minutes before the show started. We weren't let in until the show was due to start, even then it didn't start until an hour later. Sitting down, it was very cramped. They clearly try to get as many people in as possible but we could barely move at our table. Putting our drinks down was like a balancing act. I paid a good bit of money for this, and was told in the email 24 hours before that I would also have to pay a "cover charge" per person as well as service charge on both the tickets and the food and drink, adding £30 to the almost £200 I had already paid. It also stated a £60 fee per person for no shows or late comers. The hostess and the acts were fantastic don't get me wrong, but for the amount paid I thought we would see more than 6 acts of maybe 2 minutes each. The food was nice, but not fantastic and we had to wait a VERY long time for it. Overall I'm really not impressed. Save your money and go into town where you'll find much better drag and burlesque acts at a more affordable price.

The drag performers were great and the AV tech went above and beyond when we asked for his assistance, but the management and food of Proud Cabaret were terrible - and could have been dangerous. We contacted Proud ahead of booking to ask if they used strobe lighting effects as my sister (the bride-to-be of our hen group) suffers light-triggered seizures. After three chasers over 2 weeks we were told categorically that they do not. Which proved to be a lie when strobe lights flashed on within 10 minutes of our arrival and we had to rush to shield my sister. The AV tech said they use in every show, and hadn't even been notified that a guest on that day had a sensitivity to it, so was completely blindsided. The food was disgusting - basically mayonnaise, stale bread and a bad omelette - and the drinks were expensive. Management company booking/admin was terrible, not just because they almost put my sister in hospital, but because it looks weeks of email correspondence and 3 rounds of mistakes just to book the correct package and time for us. The team on the ground were lovely but overworked given how busy it was, under-supported and trying to carry the weight of all other failures of the experience. None of our party would return.

Dolly rocket and the drag artists were incredible. Food and "bottomless" brunch were expensive and nothing to write home about - it didn't feel like we got our money's worth in that respect, and it came with an extortionate service charge on top of a cover charge. I was unaware there would be karaoke at the end and it would have been great to maybe have had the option to leave before that started. Four stars because the actual show was incredible!

Acts and Staff were amazing 👏 so so good, that made the outing for sure😄Dolly you were top class 👏 Also a dress code is sent before hand which clearly was not adhered too and the cocktail was 'Sex on the Beach' with no other options, but to be fair copious amounts were given out 🍹 Also, I was asked if we wanted a 'Cake' with sparkle for £10, thankfully didn't take this up as it literally was a 🍰slice 😲 So eat before you go, have a heathly bank account and enjoy the fabulous acts and hard working staff 👍

We booked the Saturday brunch for a joint birthday celebration. The singers /performers were talented especially when singing live and make up/costumes were fabulous. The food was tasty but I think maybe two courses would be nicer. Prosecco was charged at £55 a bottle so this is a little high but I understand they are running a business and all the staff need to be paid. The drinks were free between 12:30-1:30pm (jugs of “sex on the Beach” poured generously into the wine glasses included non alcoholic if required. Staff were pleasant. Service charge was a little high. Karaoke after the cabaret was fun. Was a good experience. Thank you

Small portions, told to arrive at 11.30 then nothing happens until 12.45, not tole the hour we have free drinks which was during when the show was on so limited to when staff could get to us. No water on the table, my friend bought a ‘cake’ for our group form the staff for £10 which was actually a slice of cake not a cake for us to share. Serving staff pleasant. When wanting to pay bill had to wait over 30mins for card machine they wanted £63 quid service charge which was outrageous. We were offered a free shot if we all left a positive review before we left and they verify which obviously didn’t happen. Lots of negative reviews for a reason so the most recent ‘positive’ ones will be due to the free shot. We had a nice afternoon due to the company not the venue/food. Overall disappointing. There are tonnes of other brunch options in Brighton so look elsewhere.

Spent 550 pounds as a group to be given 3 rounds of “bottomless” drinks which were juice , served 20 mins late , food given mid acts whilst most people around had already finished meant trying to eat in the dark which it was cold and slimy , given the bill charged for water , paid to “enter “ , and service charge was over 60 pounds as they add the percentage on the tickets we brought ages ago which service was slow and definitely not worth 60 , once asked to remove the service charge he said no you had service it can’t be removed , yet after explaining they took some off but not a lot , most people walked out early we would of done the same but we paid 10 pounds for a cake and sparkler for them to sing happy birthday when we told them it’s for a hen and we she was clearly dressed as a hen . When the cake come over the bride tried to return it as was confused due to it not being her birthday so the surprise was ruined . Then the cake was small enough to feed 1 for 10 pounds we expected enough to share .

Not so good: - Bottomless cocktail, very orange juiced sex on the beach, not even sure it had alcohol in it! - We only saw one other act who mimed and just changed wigs? Was so disappointed as wanted to see lots of different drag acts. She was very good.. But still. One act ? - Most of the show was just audience karaoke which wasn't really what we were after. We had fun, but again, if we wanted mostly karaoke we would have gone to a dedicated karaoke bar? - Food was okay, but not what we went for so I won't moan

Hi This was bought as a birthday present from daughter and we were really looking forward to it. We arrived on the Friday for 7.00 and it was closed! The general manager appeared after 20 minutes and said to us and the other people waiting ‘there is no show tonight’. It was showing on their website and my daughter had arranged that date when booking the meal and show. The manager said she couldn’t do anything but we should contact sales. We went to a bar and the barman said it happens regularly. Very disappointing and hoping my daughter gets her refund. An email on the day saying cancelled would have meant we could have re-arranged but would now prefer a refund.

Honestly dreadful from start to finish. Do NOT recommend. There is no burlesque, no cabaret. We had 4, 15 minute breaks. Good way to waste time. We personally didn't eat but everyone said the food was bland, small portioned and cold. There was 0 variety with only 2 performers. It was more of a singing show. Glasses on the table were filthy, and we paid £40 for a £8 bottle of wine. No table pour, no water offered, very young staff who weren't trained. the waitress argued with me after I asked to remove the service charge and genuinely my cocktail was congealed, and not what was advertised either. Half the audience left because the show was so boring. Tbh there wasn't really a show there were 2 acts in 3 hours which were 3 minutes each. My friends ostrich boa was thrown in a storage room on the floor by staff because you're not allowed them in the show. Honestly really awful. So sad - this place used to be incredible. But it was all very very poor. The host is amazing, beautiful voice. But it's not a 1 woman show it's supposed to be a cabaret. Where's the glamour gone proud? I will not return.

They didn't even call to ensure we received the cancellation. We requested a full refund as we couldn't rebook for another day. Despite calling and emailing, they said refunds take 12 weeks, which is unreasonable since the cancellation was their fault. The show lasted 5 hours and there was all of 3 minutes of something resembling cabaret. The host was not funny and felt like they wasted a lot of time. The acrobat spent more time waving lasers around than anything else. The song choices were bizarre for the acts. The drag performer did not know the words to the lip sync. The world famous Dave the bear did questionable burlesque and randomly sang karaoke style back street boys to close. The food was awful and tasteless. They also added a mandatory 15% charge which is 100% a rip off and good luck getting your drinks within 30 minutes of ordering them. Don't waste your money on this show.

Absolutely gutted to be writing this review after leaving such a gleaming review the year before. It pains me to say I would seriously consider before booking and paying in advance that you pay close attention to some recent reviews. We paid £428 for a burlesque evening with a four course meal and really did not expect what was delivered considering the premium cost. When we first arrived we overheard the doorman mention that it was more quiet than usual for a Friday night (probably because cause people are just not returning anymore) and he wasn’t wrong with just 25-30 attending. Due to the low numbers there was only one waitress serving drinks and food so ended up eating mostly cold food (which should have been hot). We ordered a chablis with the food but the waitress returned to inform us that they had ran out and she offered an alternative, the alternative was not the issue but the fact that the Chablis remained on the bill was. Unfortunately we did not realise until the following morning when we inspected the bill and then also noticed that the cheeky gits had also put a 15% service charge not only on the drinks that we purchased that evening but also the initial £428 cost of the tickets so the service charge amounted to £111. We made the best of the evening and had a laugh and a drink but truth be told the whole thing was nothing short of shoddy, we were not expecting moulin rouge but as it was described as primarily burlesque with humour and entertainment thrown in it was kind of expected that the evening would at least revolve around burlesque. The previous year we watched in amazement as the entertainers wowed us and the bear amused us. Sadly Dolly Rocket was a no show, she allegedly felt ill but looking at the reviews it’s a regular occurrence and this time round we had the bear as the main compare and singer, actually it was pretty much him all night and sadly he is no singer, a great entertainer and a lovely bloke but no singer and certainly not one that warrants £100 per ticket. Almost 2 months on we are still chasing the post of the Chablis which was easily rectified baring in mind they should have been able to check their stockists to confirm that they had indeed ran out. Lack of atmosphere, lack of interest from the entertainers and staff, diabolical food and zero atmosphere, reputation will carry you so far and from what I can see the reputation is well and truly tarnished, jeez someone change the management at this place or it will be out of business within 12 months.

DREADFUL DO NOT GO !!! Me and my friend had a good time food wasn’t very good the drag acts were entertaining. My biggest problem is that I paid for two tickets online which were £98 and then the bill came in at another £163. The staff kept putting cocktails on out table which should be part of the price. I’d ordered extra food which should have been no more than £20. My advice would be careful they take advantage of you having a few drinks and give you a big bill I didn’t notice until the following day. I’ve been questioning it with the venue but they haven’t done any! So £261for two people to watch drag is a silly amount they have not refunded anything. So just be careful not a honest business ☹️

This is a terrible establishment. I booked for a burlesque night for myself and a friend as it looked appealing on the website. You getting nothing of the sort. Basically what's advertised is the opposite of what you get. Poor quality food. Over priced drinks. The young woman who meets and greets you is super grumpy and unfriendly. The acts are diabolical. This wasnt a burlesque show as advertised. It was two guys dressed as women prancing around on stage. It's a circus act at best. If you want a proper burlesque show with real women and real entertainment, head to London for Proud City. They know how to put a show on! This place is a joke. Waste of money and time. A real let down for our main night out for the weekend. I've been to four burlesque shows and this was, by far, the worst. A real let down for my friends who haven't been to one before. Dreadful. Another group had booked 2 weeks previously and the same thing happened. They were refused a refund and instead were told to reschedule which they did. And again no-one turned up and no advance warning or explanation was given. In fact, the day before we were emailed reminding us of our booking, stating the dress code and confirming food choices. This is all very suspicious!! I am beginning to think this is all a scam. The place looks scruffy from the outside with no signage and there seems to be only one door in and out of building. Came for a large hen party and we’re sat in different seats then we were told we were going to be in. Food was very small portions so I would recommend not ordering it as not worth the money. Bottomless brunch was very slow service and watered down. The acts were alright but nothing amazing. Just 2 different people singing. Then rest was karaoke from audience.

A one of the kind show at the centre of kemptown, proud cabaret never fails to impress with their drag brunch and evening shows alike

The entertainment was good fun and food ok but it’s a rip off. The two young girls sat next to us were knocking back cocktails as part of the “bottomless” brunch package that they paid for, only to find out at the end that “those cocktails” weren’t included. So here’s a the deal you pay £98 for the bottomless cocktails brunch. What you get is a frittata and a cherry pie and as much watered down sex on the beach as you want. Then you get the bill at the end with the service charge (including 15% of your £98 you already paid when you book it) and cover charge of £2 each. We ordered a bottle of water and paid £23 for the privilege!! The staff advised that it’s an issue ALL THE TIME with guests and yet still they make none of it clear. I think maybe Brighton trading standards so be looking into this As a footnote the show was pretty good !!

I have to start with the fact that the acts were great and I would happily go just for this. But I would not recommend food or drinks here. The food was so bad, we had one option which was salad followed my salad. The veggie option was so bland, I don’t think they added any seasoning and it all cost SO much money. To add to this they include an additional service charge on your prepaid ticket of 15%. Which for the table added an extra £100. We wouldn’t have minded as much if we had actually received some service. But unfortunately we didn’t. We felt completely forgotten about, having to ask where our drinks were multiple times. When we complained, we were told the manager would speak to us, we waited about 45 minutes and they never came to talk to us. Completely dampened our evening.

We had a great night out and lots of laughs. I've read some of the bad reviews and think they're very unfair. Dolly was hilarious and very entertaining. Service was brilliant. All of the charges were stated in their t&c's so there were no surprises. We would go again. Thanks for a great night!

Not great value for money… This place is below normal standards. Overpriced: for £100+ (15% service charge!!! on the total bill (included your paid tickets! , was a rip off ), it wasn’t worth it. It was a disappointment. Avoid this place - just go somewhere else in Brighton! 😞

by far the worst bottomless brunch i’ve ever been too! The food was terrible a tiny omelet as main meal and no flavour atal, the only drink you could have was sex on the beach which had zero alcohol in, we were told we would have 5 booths downstairs for our hen party but we’re sitting on top of eachother on a table upstairs where you can’t even see what’s happening. The waiters couldn’t even get down the table to top up drinks so we were basically serving ourselves and charged us a bomb on service charge! luckily our bride still had a good time, but was definitely not worth the money, also get questioned as to why your going outside like your in a prison. Only thing that was god was the drag acts!

Took my wife for her birthday, we went to Proud Cabaret London around 2 years ago. Brighton isn't a patch on London. Acts & show is a lot better in London. The food was very poor quality, and they forgot our desert course even though pre-ordered. Paid £50 for cake, which although I had a call to ask what I wanted written on the cake, turned out to be 1 very small slice of cake with a sparkler in it. No message (why bother calling me?) When I asked our waitress if that was all we get for £50 she giggled & shrugged her shoulders. Definitely would not return & my advice is if you want the experience book the London Proud Cabaret, not this pretend one that has been watered down to cater for many stag & hen parties that visit Brighton.

Went last night and we all had enough a few hours in. Food was an absolute joke and a rip off, the acts were pitiful considering the talent in Brighton and the service was the worst I’ve ever had. After all that we got bullied and threatened by the bouncers who accused us of trying to leave without paying even though I showed them the receipt and told them to check with the manager. This brunch ruined my friends birthday. No apologies and the staff are unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. Whoever runs this should be ashamed. What a rip off! I want my money back!

Amazingly talented performers! We came for a Hen do and had the best time, Dolly rocket had us in stitches all night and had us singing our hearts out! Amberlina has the most incredible strength the whole group was in awe and Dave had the whole package including a great singing voice. Overall we had the best night!!! Perfect for Hens, birthdays or nights out with the girls.

Fun night out, lots of hen dos! The backstreet boys songs was a hit, service was quick and friendly / helpful from the lady at the door to those serving our table. However, the food… I have to say was below normal standards and for £100+ (15% service charge on the total bill, which is only confirmed after you pay for the tickets), it wasn’t worth it. The chicken was just about cooked and had no flavour and the beef made one of us feel sick… desserts were fine but too creamy (imo). The starters were fine, main course was underwhelming… The cabaret was not the same as the one in London (city), more comedy acts and slightly offensive at times, but you get used to it and we actually had a lot of fun!

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME.... Where to begin... we went for a birthday bottomless brunch, to be served a cuarter chicken on cabbage for breakfast, no menu, no options, and then had to wait an hour until the bottomless cocktails began. We were given NO OPTION OF COCKTAIL but told instead what the cocktail of the day was and we were poured this buffet style in a jug. Had to keep asking for the non alcoholic version for the non drinker in our group, making them feel forgotten about constantly. The show it self was mediocre- lip sync and a bit of dancing, hardly what i would call a show and then to top it off, the last hour or more was KARAOKE with members of the audience, i mean, paying to entertain yourself is hardly a show. It was hugely dissapoiting and the best bit was the service charge that included the fee of the tickets we had already paid, just as an idea service charge alone including and added fee of mandatory £2 per head fee was over £40... there were four of us and we spent over £100 each including tickets for this event. Quite frankly it was an absolute shambles of a misleading, underwhelming, made to seem top tier event that merely scrapes the surface. We attended Brighton Proud, and im sure there are many others in Brighton that could give you alot more for what they are charging you. Please read the reviews as we all wish we had beforehand, we didn't as this was a well known chain to us and have many great events in the London Proud venue, but it seems their quality has definitely lowered. Complete scam, sent them 2 emails and no response at all, so leaving this review instead.

Tiny portions of mediocre food for a lot of money. Signature dish, pasta, tasted like watery under seasoned quite bad carbonara. Cod in one of the dishes was overcooked and another dish with fish broth was watery and quite awful. Will never go back. If you want fine dining, go to Etch. Costs almost the same, but quality of food and service is ten levels higher.

Sat down outside. Noone took my order. So, ordered inside .highlighting that I was sitting outside. After 25.minutes and no coffee, despite a near empty establishment, I went to the cafe.ooposite, where I was served, at the outside table, within 5 minutes I understand why it was empty now.
