Poor customer service, tacky host and the worst food I think I’ve ever had. Vegetarian meal was over-cooked pasta in cheap tomato sauce. I kid you not. Host swore every other word and the place was filthy. Toilets are not at all accessible - unless you’re stick man and also filthy. But the highlight absolutely is the hidden charges. If you thought £200 for tickets and meal sounds reasonable you’re wrong - as when you get the bill they add on hidden charges that are hidden in the depths of their T+Cs - another £50 - yeah that sounds fair considering the staff are all 11 and unable to even bring the right drinks! Shocking waste of time and money.

Possibly the poorest quality cabaret I have ever seen, very short sets followed by the host rambling for hours in between. The vegan food was beyond dismal and not much short of inedible. Overcooked pasta in a tiny bowl feels discourteous. The service staff tried but I’m afraid they had little or no experience and appeared if they had just finished a day shift in Asda. Having run large scale events I can see that this is a money maker for someone without scruples. I’m also afraid the hidden charges feel disingenuous and the fact that they are hidden in the terms and conditions of the booking is deliberate. Hundreds of pounds and a birthday celebration marred by a very low quality experience. Might just work for a very drunk hen night where quality takes second fiddle to an overpriced cocktail and poor language. The website is very glossy and is no way reflective of the experience. Avoid.

The show was fab. Loved the compare abd the performers were good. The food not so great. The main was cold and the dessert (cheesecake) was warm. The portions were also tiny. The drinks menu was also very pricey and the cocktails poor. They tried to bump on an 'entertainment' charge of £22 even though we'd already bought £80/person tickets. We were also sat right next to the smoke machine which was choking us and the couple next to us - multiple times, it was so thick we could just about see across the table. If they improved the food and didn't try to sneak extra charges, I'd definitely return.

I am giving this 2 stars because the drag queens put on a great show, besides that this was horrendous. I will note here, it turns out that a main part of the show is karaoke which is done by the guests. The show I had booked got cancelled twice with only a couple of days notice, after the second cancellation I requested a refund. The team said they would pass this on but my email was ignored for almost two months. When I called they said they are unable to refund it and offered to upgrade it to the brunch package. A few days before the show they sent an email saying that the show would start an hour early and to come at 10:30. Myself and other people had to wait out in the cold for over 45 minutes, we tried to call them a few times to ask if they could please let us wait inside as it was really windy and freezing. Once let in we found out that the bottomless prosecco doesn't start until 12:30 and the brunch itself was one store bought cold stale waffle with bits of bacon and syrup, followed by a slice of cheesecake that smelled odd. As it was brunch we wanted to order some teas and coffees to warm up (there was also no heating inside the venue) which they said they don't have. After the show everyone (not just us) had to pay another 25£ for the show. Considering the brunch tickets are 65£ each I don't think this is worth it.

The show was brilliant, very funny and amusing, the girls servicing were very friendly and helpful, Food was very poor, we had Saturday brunch, a lukewarm waffle with syrup and chopped bacon, then a cheese cake. Drink prices are a rip off £13 for a cocktail 🍸 we paid £98 for the show and brunch, the two cocktails £26, £4 cover charge, £19 entertainment charge, so all in £147 for two people, complete rip off would not recommend, and will not be going again.

A night at Proud promised an exciting experience, but the reality did not quite match the expectations. With an £80 ticket price, I anticipated quality food, engaging entertainment and a lively atmosphere. The food was disappointing. A small bowl of soup, a single chicken thigh and a few potatoes did not justify the price. The vegetarian option looked uninspiring, reinforcing the impression that the food was not a priority. Simple improvements like offering fresh bread on the tables and more generous portions would make a big difference. Drinks were another letdown. Cocktails were noticeably watered down and the portion sizes were smaller than expected. While it is common for venues to make a profit on drinks, the approach here felt excessive. The long wait for food seemed designed to encourage more drink orders rather than being a natural part of the service. The entertainment was the highlight of the evening. The acts were polished and professional and the hostess was outstanding. She was engaging, charismatic and had full control of the room, ensuring guests stayed involved throughout the night. However, despite repeated warnings that things would get wild, the atmosphere remained fairly tame. Audience participation mostly consisted of guests being brought on stage for a brief dance, which did not add much to the experience. The most frustrating part of the night came when a £100 donation for the acts was quietly added to the bill. Supporting performers is important, but this charge felt deceptive. Many guests would likely have been happy to contribute if asked directly at the end, rather than discovering it unexpectedly in the final total. Proud has the potential to offer a fantastic night out with its strong entertainment, lively atmosphere and a hostess who truly knows how to engage a crowd. However, the experience does not match the price. Either lowering the ticket price to fill the room or keeping it at £80 while improving the food would make a significant difference. At the moment, it feels like a venue focused on squeezing as much money as possible from guests rather than providing a balanced and enjoyable evening. Until these issues are addressed, it is difficult to recommend.

Wish I could give this a 0 but this is not an option. I tried to give this the benefit of the doubt, despite the number of negative reviews. The show sounded fun, so I went ahead and booked it as a surprise for my partner for our anniversary. However, when we turned up to the venue, we found out that the show was cancelled by chance, by two members of staff who were outside smoking. This of course came as a surprise, not only because we were not informed of this prior to making our way into Brighton, but also because I was speaking to a member of staff on the cabaret's web chat on the same day. I was following up because I did not receive a pre order link, something which I requested a week prior and was told this would be emailed to me, but it never did. Despite speaking to a member of staff about this on the day of the show, not at any point was I advised about the cancellation. I was provided with a business card when I learned that the show was cancelled, for the venues manager. They never replied to my email, and so I contacted the head office. From there on the customer service is what I can only describe as shocking, not only due to lack of empathy, but the way this complaint has been handled. Initially I was advised I can either rebook or get a refund. I chose to rebook initially, provided them with a date and never received a confirmation. I followed up a week later to advise that since the rebooking has not been confirmed as I received no response to my email, I didn't want to waste another evening, and I would like a refund. I was then told that they are unable to refund me as the booking was made via Groupon. The big mistake here was also booking this show through Groupon as now no one wants to take the blame and compensate me. To this day I still haven't received a refund. Honestly not book this - it's a waste of your money and time.

Went to our works Christmas party. The entertainment was ok, the staff worked really hard as the place was heaving. However, the food was not great. The French onion soup came with a finger roll, the type you would use for a hotdog. It was edible, but not to everyone. I had the winter vegtable wellington which said it came came with sprouts, carrots, parsnips and roast potatoes. Please check out my photo. One sprout, 4 tiny carrots and one parsnip. 2 potatoes. The portion was that of a child. The veg looked like it was from a frozen veg bag and slightly over cooked. It all tasted ok, but what a ridiculous portion. I did ask for more veg. Which I did get given. But to be served this, for £49.99 was crazy. I personally would not go back. The girls on stage were entertaining, but seen better.

Only thing I have to say is food came out cold consistently, so I would just book general admission and get bar snacks if you’re that fussed to save money. Only book a ticket with a meal if on offer, we paid £26pp for 3 course meal with an offer so can’t complain!. They charge you 12.5% service charge which they can take off if you ask, they’ll pressure you once leaving to ask why etc. But all in all if you come for a cheaper price and take off service charge it becomes a very reasonable night! The performers were amazing as usual, but we upgraded because it was a very special occasion to the VIP package with Chefs menu that was genuinely dreadful. Prosecco instead of champagne, rest of booze eas okay, food that would be poor if a school kitchen had served it and negligent service. Basically, go for the cheap seats and you’ll have a great time for great value. We paid £570 for 3 tickets and were mugged!

DO NOT BOOK THE DRAG BRUNCH!!! IT IS A SCAM!!! I booked this for myself and 14 friends as a surprise for my wife's 30th birthday. Two days before the brunch was supposed to happen I got an email saying it had been cancelled last minute as not enough tickets had been sold, which given it was a Sunday in August I find very hard to believe as it would've been peak season in Brighton and we had 15 tickets in just one group. I immediately requested a refund and was ignored repeatedly by phone and email, until after MONTHS of chasing for almost £800 I was able to get my bank to issue a refund. I've still had absolutely no communication from Proud regarding the matter, even to try and reschedule if a refund wasn't possible or even to offer an apology. Other reviews have had exactly the same experience and I'm convinced that the venue never had any intention of running the event and that they regularly run this SCAM!! Even if it's not, the customer service has been diabolical and I would recommend finding one of the other many brunches in Brighton, at least with them you might actually get what you've paid for. ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE.

Was told to get there before 7pm which we did to find the bouncer was very rude. Also the show didnt start until 2.5hours later!! Once inside the hostess asked my partner if he would like a birthday cake with sparklers for an extra £10 which I thought was very insensitive considering that part should have been a suprise so she should have asked me in private!! When I booked a spent alot of time emailing them regarding my dietary requirements but the waitress kept getting it muddled up. Also we had to chase for the welcome drinks. To be honest the host Dave the Bear and some of the acts were the only good thing about the night but for £300 for 2 ppl I would have expected this to be a class service. Very disappointed.

The place was half empty which I know they can’t necessarily control but it wasn’t as vibey as you’d expect. In terms of the bottomless cocktails there was only one option which was super sweet - would have been useful to have at least a couple of choices, so I probably had one drink and our party ended up ordering outside of this - food and bottomless cocktails definitely not worth the money - I would recommend maybe opting for Prosecco instead if you want a boozy experience. Also it does say in the email small print in hindsight but there was a £70 service charge added at the end which I was not expecting and I’d tried to be upfront with our group about the costs so it did leave a bit of a sour note at the end.

Absolutely gutted to be writing a poor review after such a highly anticipated evening. Firstly, I booked the 5 course meal and when we got there, I was told it was 3 courses. Thankfully, this was rectified quickly. The email and its contents I had before the show really let this place down. The email was incredibly demanding. It stated that we should be there "no later" than 15 minutes before the show started. We weren't let in until the show was due to start, even then it didn't start until an hour later. Sitting down, it was very cramped. They clearly try to get as many people in as possible but we could barely move at our table. Putting our drinks down was like a balancing act. I paid a good bit of money for this, and was told in the email 24 hours before that I would also have to pay a "cover charge" per person as well as service charge on both the tickets and the food and drink, adding £30 to the almost £200 I had already paid. It also stated a £60 fee per person for no shows or late comers. The hostess and the acts were fantastic don't get me wrong, but for the amount paid I thought we would see more than 6 acts of maybe 2 minutes each. The food was nice, but not fantastic and we had to wait a VERY long time for it. Overall I'm really not impressed. Save your money and go into town where you'll find much better drag and burlesque acts at a more affordable price.

The drag performers were great and the AV tech went above and beyond when we asked for his assistance, but the management and food of Proud Cabaret were terrible - and could have been dangerous. We contacted Proud ahead of booking to ask if they used strobe lighting effects as my sister (the bride-to-be of our hen group) suffers light-triggered seizures. After three chasers over 2 weeks we were told categorically that they do not. Which proved to be a lie when strobe lights flashed on within 10 minutes of our arrival and we had to rush to shield my sister. The AV tech said they use in every show, and hadn't even been notified that a guest on that day had a sensitivity to it, so was completely blindsided. The food was disgusting - basically mayonnaise, stale bread and a bad omelette - and the drinks were expensive. Management company booking/admin was terrible, not just because they almost put my sister in hospital, but because it looks weeks of email correspondence and 3 rounds of mistakes just to book the correct package and time for us. The team on the ground were lovely but overworked given how busy it was, under-supported and trying to carry the weight of all other failures of the experience. None of our party would return.

I am glad to see the example of another person about how to pursue a dispute, we also have not received our refund for last minute show cancellation despite numerous emails back and forth and several promises of lengthy refund times. Absolute joke, will also be opening a dispute with card provider

AVOID ❗❗❗❗ The worst company I have ever had dealings with. Although I haven't had dealings really because they don't reply to any communications! Along with the rest of people here I to had my event date cancelled and I have not received a single communication or reply with regards to my refund! They have no communication. They pass you on to yet another email for someone else not to reply!! Ive set up a claim with my bank. This company is a sham! Do not book unless you wish to remain disappointed!!

Small portions, told to arrive at 11.30 then nothing happens until 12.45, not tole the hour we have free drinks which was during when the show was on so limited to when staff could get to us. No water on the table, my friend bought a ‘cake’ for our group form the staff for £10 which was actually a slice of cake not a cake for us to share. Serving staff pleasant. When wanting to pay bill had to wait over 30mins for card machine they wanted £63 quid service charge which was outrageous. We were offered a free shot if we all left a positive review before we left and they verify which obviously didn’t happen. Lots of negative reviews for a reason so the most recent ‘positive’ ones will be due to the free shot. We had a nice afternoon due to the company not the venue/food. Overall disappointing. There are tonnes of other brunch options in Brighton so look elsewhere.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Me and my friend booked a show. It was cancelled a few days before and we were told to “rebook”. We then emailed asking for a refund as we do not live local to Brighton and it was for my friends birthday. NO response AT ALL. We have called, emailed, DMed and NOTHING. After reading the reviews I understand that this is such a common occurrence. It is clearly either being run by an absolute idiot or a scam. Either way do not book it because even the people that have gone to the show and it hasn’t been cancelled haven’t enjoyed it. Also I’m pretty sure any stars higher than 1 are their own employees🤣. DO NOT BOOK !!

Spent 550 pounds as a group to be given 3 rounds of “bottomless” drinks which were juice , served 20 mins late , food given mid acts whilst most people around had already finished meant trying to eat in the dark which it was cold and slimy , given the bill charged for water , paid to “enter “ , and service charge was over 60 pounds as they add the percentage on the tickets we brought ages ago which service was slow and definitely not worth 60 , once asked to remove the service charge he said no you had service it can’t be removed , yet after explaining they took some off but not a lot , most people walked out early we would of done the same but we paid 10 pounds for a cake and sparkler for them to sing happy birthday when we told them it’s for a hen and we she was clearly dressed as a hen . When the cake come over the bride tried to return it as was confused due to it not being her birthday so the surprise was ruined . Then the cake was small enough to feed 1 for 10 pounds we expected enough to share .

The inside was stunning and was seated in a booth perfect view. The show was good Dolly was funny and acts enjoyed, Just a shame the food was a massive let down and I’m not really a fussy eater but it really wasn’t great. Then the bill come over WOW £48 a bottle of Prosecco and £45 a bottle of wine with 15% service charge …. Absolute disgrace… Please lower your drinks prices it’s just not right to charge that much .. is there really any need after your service charge of 15% ..

Attended a drag brunch for a hen do. Good bits: - Dolly was good! - Adeeb's service - Venue was cool! Not so good: - Bottomless cocktail, very orange juiced sex on the beach, not even sure it had alcohol in it! - We only saw one other act who mimed and just changed wigs? Was so disappointed as wanted to see lots of different drag acts. She was very good.. But still. One act ? - Most of the show was just audience karaoke which wasn't really what we were after. We had fun, but again, if we wanted mostly karaoke we would have gone to a dedicated karaoke bar? - Food was okay, but not what we went for so I won't moan

Hi This was bought as a birthday present from daughter and we were really looking forward to it. We arrived on the Friday for 7.00 and it was closed! The general manager appeared after 20 minutes and said to us and the other people waiting ‘there is no show tonight’. It was showing on their website and my daughter had arranged that date when booking the meal and show. The manager said she couldn’t do anything but we should contact sales. We went to a bar and the barman said it happens regularly. Very disappointing and hoping my daughter gets her refund. An email on the day saying cancelled would have meant we could have re-arranged but would now prefer a refund.

Honestly dreadful from start to finish. Do NOT recommend. There is no burlesque, no cabaret. We had 4, 15 minute breaks. Good way to waste time. We personally didn't eat but everyone said the food was bland, small portioned and cold. There was 0 variety with only 2 performers. It was more of a singing show. Glasses on the table were filthy, and we paid £40 for a £8 bottle of wine. No table pour, no water offered, very young staff who weren't trained. the waitress argued with me after I asked to remove the service charge and genuinely my cocktail was congealed, and not what was advertised either. Half the audience left because the show was so boring. Tbh there wasn't really a show there were 2 acts in 3 hours which were 3 minutes each. My friends ostrich boa was thrown in a storage room on the floor by staff because you're not allowed them in the show. Honestly really awful. So sad - this place used to be incredible. But it was all very very poor. The host is amazing, beautiful voice. But it's not a 1 woman show it's supposed to be a cabaret. Where's the glamour gone proud? I will not return.

I am very disappointed with the service. We booked a table for the drag brunch for 27th April, only to have it canceled three days prior due to overbooking and our table blocking a fire exit. They didn't even call to ensure we received the cancellation. We requested a full refund as we couldn't rebook for another day. Despite calling and emailing, they said refunds take 12 weeks, which is unreasonable since the cancellation was their fault. It has now coming up to 4 months, and despite multiple calls, emails, and live chats, we have still not received our refund. Do not waste your money here!

The show lasted 5 hours and there was all of 3 minutes of something resembling cabaret. The host was not funny and felt like they wasted a lot of time. The acrobat spent more time waving lasers around than anything else. The song choices were bizarre for the acts. The drag performer did not know the words to the lip sync. The world famous Dave the bear did questionable burlesque and randomly sang karaoke style back street boys to close. The food was awful and tasteless. They also added a mandatory 15% charge which is 100% a rip off and good luck getting your drinks within 30 minutes of ordering them. Don't waste your money on this show.

Absolutely gutted to be writing this review after leaving such a gleaming review the year before. It pains me to say I would seriously consider before booking and paying in advance that you pay close attention to some recent reviews. We paid £428 for a burlesque evening with a four course meal and really did not expect what was delivered considering the premium cost. When we first arrived we overheard the doorman mention that it was more quiet than usual for a Friday night (probably because cause people are just not returning anymore) and he wasn’t wrong with just 25-30 attending. Due to the low numbers there was only one waitress serving drinks and food so ended up eating mostly cold food (which should have been hot). We ordered a chablis with the food but the waitress returned to inform us that they had ran out and she offered an alternative, the alternative was not the issue but the fact that the Chablis remained on the bill was. Unfortunately we did not realise until the following morning when we inspected the bill and then also noticed that the cheeky gits had also put a 15% service charge not only on the drinks that we purchased that evening but also the initial £428 cost of the tickets so the service charge amounted to £111. We made the best of the evening and had a laugh and a drink but truth be told the whole thing was nothing short of shoddy, we were not expecting moulin rouge but as it was described as primarily burlesque with humour and entertainment thrown in it was kind of expected that the evening would at least revolve around burlesque. The previous year we watched in amazement as the entertainers wowed us and the bear amused us. Sadly Dolly Rocket was a no show, she allegedly felt ill but looking at the reviews it’s a regular occurrence and this time round we had the bear as the main compare and singer, actually it was pretty much him all night and sadly he is no singer, a great entertainer and a lovely bloke but no singer and certainly not one that warrants £100 per ticket. Almost 2 months on we are still chasing the post of the Chablis which was easily rectified baring in mind they should have been able to check their stockists to confirm that they had indeed ran out. Lack of atmosphere, lack of interest from the entertainers and staff, diabolical food and zero atmosphere, reputation will carry you so far and from what I can see the reputation is well and truly tarnished, jeez someone change the management at this place or it will be out of business within 12 months.

DREADFUL DO NOT GO !!! Me and my friend had a good time food wasn’t very good the drag acts were entertaining. My biggest problem is that I paid for two tickets online which were £98 and then the bill came in at another £163. The staff kept putting cocktails on out table which should be part of the price. I’d ordered extra food which should have been no more than £20. My advice would be careful they take advantage of you having a few drinks and give you a big bill I didn’t notice until the following day. I’ve been questioning it with the venue but they haven’t done any! So £261for two people to watch drag is a silly amount they have not refunded anything. So just be careful not a honest business ☹️

This is a terrible establishment. I booked for a burlesque night for myself and a friend as it looked appealing on the website. You getting nothing of the sort. Basically what's advertised is the opposite of what you get. Poor quality food. Over priced drinks. The young woman who meets and greets you is super grumpy and unfriendly. The acts are diabolical. This wasnt a burlesque show as advertised. It was two guys dressed as women prancing around on stage. It's a circus act at best. If you want a proper burlesque show with real women and real entertainment, head to London for Proud City. They know how to put a show on! This place is a joke. Waste of money and time. A real let down for our main night out for the weekend. I've been to four burlesque shows and this was, by far, the worst. A real let down for my friends who haven't been to one before. Dreadful. Avoid. Visited Sat 29th June 2024. Never to visit again.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE! We booked for show and brunch for June 9th. We arrived at 11.25am and left at 12.15pm with no sign of a show and venue locked up. Another group had booked 2 weeks previously and the same thing happened. They were refused a refund and instead were told to reschedule which they did. And again no-one turned up and no advance warning or explanation was given. In fact, the day before we were emailed reminding us of our booking, stating the dress code and confirming food choices. This is all very suspicious!! I am beginning to think this is all a scam. The place looks scruffy from the outside with no signage and there seems to be only one door in and out of building. Avoid this venue at all costs if you don't want to lose your money.
