Proper Ansome Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

The cafe has parking. The staff are lovely and helpful. I have allergies and they took a lot of time and energy to make sure I could eat a meal and be safe. All the family meals were hot and tasty. It is a down to earth, standard cafe, nothing fancy but is a lovely place to eat. Very clean.

This cafe/caff is situated in an light industrial area and offers standard breakfasts. The bain marie was getting quite a good workout when we went there for breakfast one weekday. My scrambled eggs on toast was ok - toasted white loaf (very lightly toasted) plus slightly overcooked - for my taste - scrambled eggs. My wife's muffin was small but ok. Service was friendly.

What a difference two years makes,when we went in tables had been cleared after waiting about 20 minutes food was ok the cafe looks sad and rundown the staff all looked miserable would not recommend.

Very nice chicken pie and mash and cheese and beans jacket potato. Despite being mothers day service was quickand very generous portions.

Popped in for a cake and a cuppa this afternoon. Lots of staff all busy, which is fine, but after several minutes not one of them had acknowledged my presence at the counter, in fact all studiously avoided catching my eye. I don't mind waiting my turn, of course! But with not so much as a nod from any of the staff (I think I counted 6 or 7 of them), I wasn't even sure they were still serving, so I left. Disappointed!

First time I’ve been here it was ok real fast was good. Alien for money my only criticism would be the bacon could be cooked a bit more and a bit hotter that’s only my personal view , the extras were ok as well so yes I would go there again

Such a shame of the new price increase on the breakfast (A) £5.50 for the smallest, this is not good value for money to compare with others in the area, it has lost its appeal to us, it’s a shame as it’s a great venue.

Visited again this week, again for breakfast, and again a superb experience. Food was tasty and well cooked, staff welcoming and efficient. All round great stuff.

Not a huge menu but the meals they served looked appetizing and large portions. Very busy so clearly popular with returning guests. I would most definitely visit again.

Lovely cafe attached to maunders site. Great little find. Menu is extensive and very reasonably priced. Food is hot, great value for money and fresh. Staff are very friendly and always happy to help. Would highly recommend a visit when next in Launceston. Breakfast is outstanding.

Welcoming staff, clean tables and cutlery. Average menu but choice of 2x Sunday roast which was filling and of good quality.

Don't go for breakfast often but fancies one today so thought I would try some new. And I wasn't disappointed. Great fast and friendly service and the food was just as good. Will defo be returning.

After a few visits for breakfast/ brunch we decided to try out the new evening menu offered on Fridays and Saturdays. We were not disappointed. A good selection of starters and mains at reasonable prices. Superb desserts too. If you want an alcoholic drink you can take your own at no extra cost. Staff friendly and attentive. Look forward to another visit.

Well l went in there today at 2 oclock, there was 3 people sitting eating at 3 tables, the rest of the tables were full of plates,cups,and cutlery. l saw 4 members of staff just walking round in the kitchen and another member of staff serving, she was making coffee;'s and taking orders for food, in front of me were 3 people one being served and the other's waiting to be served, l waited nearly 10 mins in the queue and the server was still making the coffee's for the first person, in the end l just left as l dont have 2 hrs to waste on waiting for food, l will never go there again.

Good value and tasty food. Gets very busy for lunchtimes. Daily 'specials' are usually extremely good value.

Popped in again today for a breakfast. Without doubt the best full English in town if not the whole county. Can never fault it. Not a spot of grease to be seen. Sausages and bacon are obviously good quality and not deep fried like other local establishments. My wife had the jacket potato with tuna and says she's now full up for the day.

I've eaten here several times, and always felt I'd had a good meal at a very reasonable price. The menu is standard British cafe light meals, well-cooked and promptly served

Good food, well cooked, at good prices. Freshly cooked toast and fried eggs on our breakfasts, we had the B breakfast with extra black pudding and bubble and squeak. There was a wait of a few minutes while our food was cooked but I'm quite prepared to wait for fresh food. All the ingredients were tasty and well worth waiting for. I do not know how they can produce this for the price. All in all a great experience we won't hesitate to return next time we are in the area, and will be recommending it to all our friends. An asset to the area.

Tried this café as the reviews seemed good. On looking closer these were mainly for breakfast. We went for Sunday lunch. It was a large plateful and very cheap. We found the food had little flavour. The vegetables were overcooked and the whole thing was saturated with gravy. Also everything was put on the plate whether you wanted it or not. Not everyone likes certain vegetables and a choice would be good. They can improve on this with a few changes as some more well known carveries manage to do.

I have only recently started popping into the cafe, having previously always walked straight by without giving it much thought. What a mistake! Bright, clean and spacious, the cafe offers a fantastic variety of hot meals, sandwiches and cakes. As a vegetarian, I think I'd assumed there wouldn't be much to cater to my tastes but that's not true at all and there is a variety of veggie options on offer. What's more, I'd say they make the best cup of tea in miles! So it's going to be my favourite new haunt for a nice cuppa.

Exactly as it's title " Proper Ansome" Literally nothing to nit pick. We had the C breakfast very very filling and I can eat! Pukka!

Visited here a few months ago, I have to say, they are getting better. They could still do with a better coffee machine, but it was nice food at reasonable costs. Portion sizes were more than ample.

What a little gem. A class above your typical greasy spoon. Only had the usual full English although the range of hearty looking meals and portion sizes of other customers looked very appetising. Nice to be served very good quality sausages that aren't deep fried and dripping with grease. Full English breakfast with extra black pudding all cooked and presented perfectly. Will be back to try options from your menu soon. The best in the area

This cafe is a little gem, hidden away on an industrial estate you would not expect to find such a great place. Lovely friendly staff although busy they still found time to have a bit of banter.. We had the special of the day, a yummy gammon, pork and stuffing pie with veg. The food was hot and the service was good and I noticed several families enjoying the food. The place was full and turning tables over continually—- and you can see why people return. Thank you, We will be back.

Visited twice now , food is average but the service is so slow . It wasn't that busy when I visited .

Had a cup of coffee and a slice of cake here on a Saturday afternoon, whilst on the positive side the cake was huge and quite tasty, on the negative side my cup of coffee was cold and I had to ask to have it heated, which the staff did without a problem. I appreciate that it was a hot day and mid afternoon, but the staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming, in fact they were downright grumpy, the hot food serving area was also dirty and untidy, again not very encouraging if you fancied a hot meal, left without feeling valued as a customer, and with no expectation of visiting again, a smile doesn’t cost anything after all?..........

A great place for a relaxed breakfast with home cooked quality at sensible prices. This is not fine dining but it will set you up for the day ahead.

Always good food and excellent value. It does not matter if it is a breakfast or a roast dinner it is always excellent food and great friendly staff.

This cafe is a little gem, out the way on an industrial estate but worth finding. We’ve visited twice as a group of 6, both times for a breakfast..and a lovely breakfast it is too with proper thick, meaty sausages.

Stopped in with my wife , first time we had been for a while and was still as good as always. Fantastic quality ingredients at a very sensible price. Staff always pleasant and service is excellent.

It says it in the name proper ansome! It really is good very high quality products. Probably the best sausages have ever tasted! Bacon cut thick and so tasty. We was directed here from Tesco’s as all they have is a Costa and paninis.

Came here to have some lunch and was not at all disappointed. The food is fresh and all home made. The B breakfast are very generous with portion size and was enough to fill me for the rest of the day! Proper thick sausages and were very tasty as were the hash browns. The coffee is all cornish coffee and is really nice as is the luxury hot chocolates. I will be returning and the prices are amazing

A superb little cafe which is one of Launceston's best kept secrets. Nice friendly staff, lovely bright and immaculately kept cafe, and quality food at prices from the 1960's !. Superb all round.

We called in for a snack and a coffee after hearing good reports. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed with a lack lustre cup of warm milk they called coffee and very average food. The service was provided with a 'cant be bothered' attitude with ad hoc people in non-uniform wandering in to the catering area.

Whilst shopping in the trading park we decided to try the cafe after hearing many good reviews. Reasonable priced breakfasts and good service wasn't 100% on the sausages but other then that good place will be back

Second visit today . Went around noon and very busy. All food made fresh. I had a cheese & coleslaw sandwich on brown. Lots of filling & good value. My friend had a bacon sandwich which she said was lovely.

My sister and I went for lunch here with our 2 kids and although we waited a while for our food, the portions were huge and really reasonable! I could only just finish mine and ended up with salad for tea as I was still full! Lovely atmosphere and a kids corner for them to play in

My disabled friend suggested we visited this cafe on an industrial estate because of easy parking and access. Five of us went, all in our 70's for morning coffee. It was friendly, very reasonably priced, busy and clean and the coffee was good. We felt under no pressure to leave and enjoyed at least an hour there. Next time we will have lunch!!

Went on a Saturday morning, the food was average/nice, so no problems there. Lady on till new, didn't know what an Americano was, but we all have to learn.

My first breakfast here was amazing, meat supplied from the local butchers, very tasty, unlike other establishment's near town. Obviously others felt the same way as was very busy, proof, I guess. Friendly staff, clean premises. Why go any where else?

Had a lovely lunch with my mother here, it was a sunny day and we wanted to sit outside so the staff very kindly placed table and chairs outside for us brilliant food, staff are welcoming and friendly, great highly recommended

Great selection of food , I have eaten hear twice and both times lovely selection of yummy food and specials daily I'm partial to a breakfast , Amazing reception cooked how you like the owners go out of there way to cater for you and there meals are amazing value for money , on both trips and I will keep going back , I'm partialy disabled and they made sure I was okay and cooked the food how I liked it , Lovely top notch café which was needed in Launceston both trips they were very busy but food was so tasty and I will be making this my pit-stop , Thankyou for given Launceston a much needed genuine proper ansome café x

A tasty Sunday roast dinner at a very reasonable cost half the price of other places. Lots of people on the day we went so short wait but well worth it

Called in on off chance for coffee and cake had the coffee but no cake as late in the day we where the only ones there so service was quick but cool reception as they where cleaning up. would go back again but only if visiting the Munders building

I've been to Proper Ansome on a number of occasions, the place is always bright, clean and tidy with a brilliant enclosed play area for little ones with sofa and coffee table right next to it, the staff are always polite and friendly - making sure your needs are always met. The food is so yummy, the quality and presentation of the food is amazing, their meat being sourced from local butchers. I definitely wouldn't go anywhere else for food in Launceston the menu ranges from all day breakfasts to lasagnas and baguettes and lots lots more, there is also a special on everyday with fresh desserts and delicious homemade cakes. Highly recommend this place to everyone!

Good basic menu,lovely breakfasts,burgers and hot mugs of tea or coffee.
