Good food a big portion and quick service

I had Korean fried chicken. There were a lot of orders on as it seemed the most popular but was worth the wait. I also had a mango smoothie from the bubble tea stand which is great and the server was super nice. The host and the guys working at the Korean chicken place were very friendly too. Will 100% go back when in Sheffield again.

I had food from a couple of the stalls and it was good for what it is. Atmosphere is good, I like the idea of what they have done with the market vibe.

Had this today for dinner , had the fish burger was ment to come with real hand cut chips instead i got cheap thin frozen fries , also ordered the home cut chips for another person seperate and they got the same , mushy peas on fish burger not really mushypeas just garden peas . A good idea and concept but very poor execution no refeinment in the culinery skills . Not worth the money ashame because if it was executed by skilled cheffs could be a great .

The burgers and dirty fries were amazing ! 100% recommend

Ordered through uber eats. Burgers was so blunt apart of the bunch of ingredients still tastes like nothing. Meat was dry, fries and dirty fries are below average.

The food was amazing, best burger I've had for ages, I would highly recommend this place.

Been dying to try their beef patty burger and buttermilk chicken thigh burger, and they didn’t disappoint! The fries were super crispy as well! Loved it!

Had the worst chicken burger of my life. I wish this chicken crossed the road! Currently sitting in shock, looking at the half eaten burger controlling my appetite. Rather have a bossman burger cooked in engine oil. I’d recommend seasoning for a start. Overpriced for the food you get!

Buttermilk chicken burger I found completely inedible. Super greasy, with dark disgusting looking meat that looks straight out of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Husband powered through his and is regretting his choices. Unfortunately I'm not Gordon Ramsay and I just wasted £11 on the world's worst burger and now need to find something else for dinner - sad times. Sorry my dudes, but 0/10.

Nice food, but let down by the staffs attitude

Just really poor value for money: I've had better burgers at McDonalds. I went for the buttermilk chicken burger which was dry, flavourless (except for two pieces of gherkin), slightly oily, and overwhelmingly disappointing. The burger also cost me £15 including the service fee which furthered my displeasure. This is not restaurant quality food. You could buy better patties from Iceland/Aldi and experience a better meal for less. If you're Kommune, don't order from Fat Hippo.

Would be pretty good but they overcook the burgers, and there’s no option when ordering on deliveroo to write a note or anything to ask for medium/rare. No way to contact the restaurant by phone either. I saw another review somewhere moaning about patties being pink in the middle so that’s probably why they now over-do them. Each to their own but I can’t justify the £££ until there’s a way to get them cooked properly.. shame as there’s not many decent burgers in Sheffield!

Very bad food, especially the fried chicken (either in burger or chicken wings). It was not fresh (the crust colour was almost blackish instead of brown) and very greasy. I had quite high expectations because of the food price but it didn’t worth it at all.

We barely ate what we ordered as it was very greasy and not tasty. I hope they will upgrade their food quality as the money you pay are more than enough for what you get.

I don’t recommend.. overpriced food and the fried chicken seems like they’re swimming in oil. The only taste was coming from the greasiness of the food. Doesn’t worth it. After eating one burger there you will not feel hungry for the rest of the day.

It was ok! They spelled commune wrong, which seems intentional but completely pointless. Burgers are ok! Made out of the greasiest chicken in the world, which just makes it a pain to eat! Like eating a wet sandwich

One of the tastiest burgers I’ve had in a long time! The dirty tots were sooo mourish too!

The app has to be installed for you to order food. This was problematic in itself due to wifi service. Once you were able to do this, there is a good choice of different styles of food. The only thing being you don't all get your meal at the same time.

We went over for lunch in the week before university started, so it was pretty empty, but that's probably not the same during school time. The burgers were delicious (and huge) and the fries were very tasty, though the bacon was a lot more burnt to a crisp than we were expecting lol. But it was really good!

Best Vietnamese I've had in the UK. Tofu Bahn Mi was delicious. Good vegan options available.

Excellent foody place in Sheffield. Loads of decent street food vendors. Had the burger which was really nice. Good for beers too. Loads of seating. Prompt service...order via app and food arrives within five minutes.

Half of the Kids’ beef burger I ordered is raw. Skinny fries is decent and love me blend milk shake looks better in pics.

Place for lots of choices of food. Mexican, Korean, Japanese, pizza, Chinese, burgers etc. Ok prices. Big and open like a did court Quick.

Lovely food, eaten here twice and it hasn't let us down yet.

Love Kommune: everyone in the group can get what they want. Good service. Some of the prices are a bit high but quality and service is good.

Fat Hippo is always a go-to choice for an excellent coeliac-friendly gluten free burger. They're so dirty I love it.

Went in for the PB & Double J burger and it did not disappoint. Front of house staff from Kommune were friendly and helpful. I ordered using the app at table and food arrived in a decent time. The burger looked exactly how it does in the promo shots! Tasted great and I chose the special side of Chill + Lime seasoned fries. If you're after a table for 2 it would be fine for walk ins but if you're a large party may want to book ahead.

Definitely better to get Fat Hippo at Kommune compared to delivery. Food came fast and was delicious, due to the nature of the multi-option restaurant can't comment much on service but it was speedy

Waited over an hour for 1 burger, went to the counter to check progress during this hour 3 times and was told "we are busy" with no indication on how long the wait would be, they were incredibly rude and offered no explanation (other than busy) or compensation for the wait.

Can't order via the Kommune app sometimes when dining in, alternative is to go up to the stall which is perfectly fine. Food is delicious.

At 20:20 the staff didn't want to take the order. Disappointing.

Food was OK had the peanut burger as I've had before as I had annoyed it this time the quality seemed to be lacking...not sure if I will go back again.

Nice place but disappointed with what was on offer on a Sunday. Website said it was open until 9pm but only one of the food franchises was willing to serve us at 19:50.

Disappointing service. I got a fat hippo burger and chips for £13.90. The burger was nice but the chips were plain with no sauce. I apparently completely missed in the app that I could add ketchup and mayo to my chips. The app wouldn't let me add it later so I went up to the Fat Hippo counter but they wouldn't give me any! I tried to pay for it with cash and they said "management won't let us". So I was left with dry chips.Completely ridiculous! When you've paid that much. Really could do with improving their customer service!

I had a custom made chicken burger as requested. Crispy fried Chicken, mustard, mayonnaise, ranch sauce, onion jam, pickles, and cheese. The burger was so so full, topped with toasted brioche bun, chicken is crispy and melts in your mouth. Fries are so delicious. My family loved it so much. Guys were so helpful. So friendly. I love this place.

Big portion but very tasteless burger, had to season it myself due it being so bland but this didn’t really improve it. Chips were fine but clearly just a out of a bag from the freezer. For £14 I was expecting a lot better, less volume and more flavour.

Decided to try the Mars Attacks milkshake, was so thick needed a spoon but was amazing!

Novelty more than reputation and it was nothing good or bad to say. My summary would be to say that I can't think of any reason to return.

The best burger I have ever had in my life!

Ordered via deliveroo as we couldn't get out and it arrived clap cold. Both portions of Chips had gone like cardboard so had to throw away... Not Fat Hippos fault im sure, maybe delivery driver had alot on or hadnt fastened his bag properly as we are only 15 mins drive away. Had 2 burgers, The last Samur-thigh which would have been fab if it had been even a little bit warm still nice and my wife had a vegan Five Lies. She could only eat half. Our very 1st deliveroo order and first time using Fat Hippo.. Gutted as it was expensive! ☹️

Fantastic burgers and although not the cheapest, you do get what you pay for. Very fresh and clearly made on the day, on par if not better than 5 guys.

Arrival time 1628 to counter to order a little hippo burger meal off the lunchtime menu that ended at 1700 to be told we not running the lunchtime menu now... 1st complaint Order a diet coke and 2 milkshakes to be told we not doing milkshakes for another hour... 2nd complaint Went to pay for the two meals that were eventually ordered to have no eye contact from cashier due to her playing slots on her mobile.... complaint 3 Will not use this counter again

Best burgers in the city centre. Worth a trip.

Friendly and helpful staff, easy to read menu and to order from. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Disabled access up ramps. Limited drink selection, but there's a bar part of the Kommune as well. Food comes in reasonable portions but is a little expensive despite being tasty.

Extremely overpriced. 1.50 for 'dirty fries' but instead of heaps of sauce and bacon bits you get a sprinkling. Chicken burger looked nothing like it did on the menu, soggy batter and mostly tasteless. Really disappointing.

Although I've been here a lot in the past I've had a really poor experience tonight. Me and my group all ordered at the same time and while everyone else's food arrived and was consumed, mine arrived half an hour later. After it arrived my food from the fat hippo was cold, I told the waitress but was told I would have to go to the vendor myself. The vendor said they would either refund me the money back but take the food or cook me another for which I would have to wait again for it to be cooked. I said I wasn't particularly happy with this outcome and was told I would have to speak to the manager to resolve the issue. I was then sent to the manager who seemed far too concerned with her mobile to give any level of customer service all evening, she told me there was nothing she could do and that it was an issue with the vendor. I ended up going back to the vendor to ask them to recook my meal as this whole debacle took 10 mins more so 50 minutes later I had my meal. Really unhelpful staff, cold food and incredibly slow service.

KFC is good, honey one tested and came with fries

The app is a pain to navigate, but it's understandable how this has come about. Great for regulars. All the food from the various vendors looked excellent (and my dish tasted brill as well). Would heartily recommend to anyone.

The best burger I have ever eaten !!!!!! First time and I was amazingly surprised at how good our burgers tasted. I would go as far as to say this was better than five guys!! The man who served me was very attentive and friendly and had great customer service. I had the American and it was cooked to perfection and my partner had the notorious vfg 2.0 both were stunning🤩 The fries were crispy and soft in the middle 5 stars all around will definitely be making the 18 mile car journey to eat another burger from here 😋

Went in before the new lockdown still Good food and clean the toilet situation was a little odd though only a couple to serve both men and women

Carried on throughout the Level 3 lockdown, so a Godsend for us travelling to work in Sheffield. Good selection of craft beers, and food outlets. Shame about the ordering website- it's a SHAMBLES!!!

Nice food and tamper coffee is the best in town!

We had the hangover III burger without the bacon and with additional onion ring and hash brown. It was amazing!!! Upgrade to waffle fries with buffalo sauce. The burgers are on the pricey side but worth it!

Ordered via deliveroo, the food was overcooked and tasteless.Spent a lot of money and absolutely not worth it, KFC would have been better and more than half the price.

The burgers are delicious, juicy and testy the only let down is the fries.

We saw adds on fb for the fat hippo looked amazing so we had to go and try it.food was nice not as great as I expected but was nice.the place itself felt like a student gathering so didn't feel to comfortable wile eating... All in all nice food if ur passing by.

Came here last week for takeaway and wasn't impressed. Have previously eaten here and other Fat Hippo's and they've usually been decent. Waited 45 minutes for an overdone and flavourless chicken burger with cardboard fries. Think it was the first night reopening after CV19 which I'd normally make an exception for but having paid £12 for burger and fries I expect it to be decent. My girfriends meal of chicken strips and fries was equally disappointing.

Burgers were Good and Staff seemed friendly enough. Really unfortunately one of the burgers we ordered missed three of the ingredients listed on the menu (bacon, jelly jam, cheese). So we had a bit of a weird situation waiting for that to come back and it was just a bit of a weird experience. It would have been nice to get a little more for the money, too - we actually finished a little hungry, but that could just be us. High potential, do give it a try.
