Piccolino in Sheffield

Just been to this lovely restaurant window seat lovely and warm. First time for us definitely not the last. Food was lovely from starters to deserts. Staff very good very friendly and attentive.

Visited on 16 April 2024. Good food and excellent service from MACIEJ.

As usual, we had a lovely meal this evening. The service was great with lots of GF options on the menu. Ask for Fabio, he will look after you.

This restaurant is in a great central location in Sheffield near Peace Gardens, and offers a great dining experience. We were seated inside in a nice booth, but seating is also available in an outside 'glass conservatory' with heaters. We ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc, and were also impressed with the alcohol free options of wine, beer and gin, which was great for those driving. When the wine arrived, instead of being offered a taste as expected, it was poured straight into everyone's glasses. For £40 per bottle, we would expect to taste the wine first, fortunately the wine wasn't corked and was very nice. To start we ordered bruschetta, arancina, and bruschetta gamberoni. All of the starters were very nice! For main, we ordered Paccheri All'arrabbiata (pasta & tomato), Merluzzo (Atlantic cod), Orata Al Forno (whole sea bream), and Stufato Di Manzo (braised ox cheek). The food was very nicely presented and tasted amazing! The pasta and sea bream were piping hot, however the cod and ox cheek dishes were barely warm, as if they had been sat waiting for the other dishes to be plated. This was a bit disappointing, but regardless still tasted great. We also had a side of Zucchini, which was crispy and tasty, but quite heavily salted. Overall, we would return to this restaurant for the delicious food and great setting. The few negatives do not outweigh the positives, but does mean we're giving 4 stars instead of 5.

The absolute worst Italian I've ever been too, the food is terrible, the staff are rude and ignorent and on top of this there is a service charge! Yes a 10% service charge in Sheffield!! adding this to a very poor meal that actually didnt have everything available needs to have an absolute re-think, this is Sheffield not London and if I want to leave my tip I will but not be cornered into doing so especially after an awful experience. May I suggest if anyone wants an Italian then San Lorenzo up in Crookes is world's apart, cheaper and no service charge!! Oh and their staff are incredibly friendly.

Food is poor, pizza soggy with very little cheese, starters bland, crab incredibly fishy. Good wine list. Service good and location good. Slightly slow on delivering food. Staff trying hard but appears to have too many seats for the number of kitchen staff and poor quality food.

We picked Piccolinos for our ore theatre meal, after looking at the menu I was quite excited by the prospect of eating there. Although expensive the potential options were mouth watering to say the least. Arriving in plenty of time for our meal we had a drink at the bar which had nowhere to sit but was still well appointed apart from the poorly organised arrangement of napkins by the open kitchen. After perusing the menu, which was depleted somewhat, they had no tomahawk steak, Lobster or crab ravioli. We selected our options , though they weren’t all available, the ‘traditional’ carbonara did not have the required eggs, so it was creamy or nothing. My starter the chicken livers was unfortunately over cooked to the point of being grainy, I was hungry so I wolfed them down. The scallops were also over cooked and not particularly tasty. Aside the meat and cheese option was good and the tuna tartare had a lovely flavour. We were asked several times if we wanted a drink while waiting for mains. The pizza was well a pizza, the bolognaise pasta looked good though no offer of Parmesan was made. I had the duck which promised to be crispy. It arrived as two grey legs which were not crispy, and were dry and inedible, my companions all agreed it was. The broccoli garnish had been cooked for milliseconds so undercooked. With the beef cheek came over cooked veg. The ox cheek was lovely though. I sent my back and had a sweet instead which the restaurant gave us free , the sweet was very nice by the way. The other sweet was lovely. My partner ordered espresso and a amaretto which they managed to take as together, a drink that should never be tasted again which we decided we didn’t feel we complain about after the earlier shenanigans.

Our server Anya was a lovely, well mannered young lady who made our first visit to the restaurant most enjoyable

Dropped in with the kids after the theatre. Staff were accommodating, our table waitress, Ramona was on point and the food was great.

Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely family lunch! We took my mother-in-law for her birthday and had a great time. The food was delicious, the staff super friendly, and we even got a very enthusiastic performance of 'Happy Birthday' for her as well. My husband has an allergy and this was handled well - his food was separately marked and there was plenty of choice for him. Definitely a top choice for a family friendly restaurant right in the heart of town.

Today I had a fantastic meal in Piccolino Sheffield my server Zsanett and Chris they was fantastic made me feel really welcome and taking care of thank you so much I definitely will return back

First of all, I want to thank Ramona for the great service she provided. I was eager to try their lasagna since I heard from my buddies that it was really tasty and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is lovely and the food is delicious. I will make sure to come by another time to try their other meals when I'll be free to do so.

We came here for a friends birthday, we were served by Ramona. She was excellent. She was attentive, not pushy and very helpful, especially to me with our young baby. She remembered everyone’s meal and also helped us celebrate with a birthday dessert. Food was excellent too. Thanks ☺️

Went a damp, cold, Tuesday evening in early March. Greeted by warm and welcoming staff, who made us feel very welcome. Nothing seemed too much to ask, the staff were very polite, and friendly, like we we're there all the time. The food was superb, could not fault it, I have a big appetite and didn't order or need to order any sides at all. Thier 500g grass fed steaks, well, they are the ones to have, probably the best in Sheffield, the salted and pepper lightly charred crust, was simply divine. Super soft, and melted in your mouth, the chef's really know how to cook and respect a quality piece of meat. Genuinely a wonderful experience.

Food was pretty poor to say the least, the brushetti starter bread was dry and uncutable so had to use your hands!! Then had the Calzone which took me 10 mins to get through the dough to get to the filling. Definitely won't give them my money again.

We had a wonderful evening last night celebrating birthdays. Our party of 14 was well catered for including food intolerances. Ramona was a great waitress, who carefully checked on ingredients and Fabio was very helpful, ensuring we had a really enjoyable evening. Thank you, the food and drink were lovely.

Visited Sheffield for work and went out for dinner at this restaurant. I was sat near the kitchen's door where all the servers walk past with food. My coat that was hanging from the chair and got completely covered in garlic oil and was ruined. I had to go out and buy a new coat first thing in the morning to be able to get to work. No compensation from restaurant. They offered me compensation and then retracted it. Very poor experience. Avoid...

Presentation was nothing special. Food was extremely over priced. £27 for two scrappy pieces of sea bass. Children’s pizza flooded in tomato sauce and 4 microscopic pieces of chicken carelessly thrown onto it- you get more toppings on a pizza from Aldi for a fraction of the price! Really not impressed. For a restaurant that is rated 4 stars, I was really expecting a higher standard. The mock tail I ordered just tasted of cranberry juice from out of the fridge, with the ice taking up most of the space in the glass!! The service from staff was perfunctory if that- and when asked to remove the service charge, the waitress grudgingly did so! The bill was still over £50 for food that was barely palatable. Overall our experience at Piccolino was extremely disappointing- Money was wasted. We will not be coming here again.

I'd never been to the Puccollino before I went with my grandson and his fiancée as a treat for me and I must say they could not have picked a better spot. From the very start being welcomed and asked where we would like to sit to the service at our lovely table in the conservatory part and a delicious meal and drinks it was a night of excellent experience.

food came out within 5 minutes of ordering was such a nice vibe , waitress was really friendly and happy to help didn’t get her name but would definitely return , food was great also we both got the spaghetti carbonara

Visited with a large group for work event and could not fault anything- food was good and my chicken dish was acceptable, hot and well prepared. Service throughout was also good with no issues considering size of table being served

Very enjoyable meal from a walk in. Atmosphere very pleasant and the attentive but unobtrusive service was spot on from various members of the restaurant’s team. Whilst I’ve had better food elsewhere for less spend, the dishes were still well prepared and tasty at the end of a long day. I’ll be back when I next return to Sheffield. I went on a Monday and early so it was quiet but I well imagine it gets busy at peak times so best to reserve a table.

It was Ok. There's nothing special about the food and it's really overpriced. I've had much better food in far less salubrious surroundings. Friendly and efficient staff but I'll stick to the independent pizza places.

I came for my lunch with my husband who has a disability. We always worry about accessibility but this is 100% accessible. It's completely flat to walk in and the disabled toilet is on ground level. The tables are spaced enough for him to walk comfortably. The food and service was outstanding. We were welcomed by kamila, and our waiters were Zanetti, roccio and Vito. All smiling and went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable

Visited for lunch and the food was absolutely delicious. Staff were outstanding, very helpful, friendly and all smiling. I have an allergy and worry when I go out to eat. But the staff check and check again which put my mind at ease. I was served by Kamila, Zanetta, Vito and roccio.

Fantastic food, the service from our waitress zsanette was excellent, coffe very nice too! We'll come back!

Fabulous food and excellent professional and friendly service. There was a wide range of dishes on offer in a range of price brackets - and a half-price food offer for January. The food was authentic, delicious, and served with good-sized portions. The veal Milanese was the best I have ever tasted.

Food was ok but the service was none. We came on a quiet evening, there were 3 waitress and 3 managers( I think they are managers because all wearing suits), and there were only 6 tables including us. But no one even bothered to ask about how’s our meal or did we need any more drinks. How can you charged us 10% service charge although which was optional, disappointed.

Sat for a hour and was told 30 mins then told we couldn't be accommodated 2 pints an 2 gins was £36 and then told they couldn't find us a table makes you wonder if this is a scam went round the comer to ego 10 mins and was updated by the waiter much better customer service and more pleasant never go back and deffo not recommend to anyone

A return visit to this venue and always a nice experience. This occasion the waiting service wasn’t as polished as you’d have expected, we waited longer than average times between seeing menus to ordering, or being offered the next course menu. Food was lovely and tasty on each course. For myself, it was a little cold inside the restaurant. Ample parking nearby. Would recommend a visit now to taste the menu, as they are offering 50% off the main menu for food until the end of January.

Food and service were great however check your bill before paying! Service charge was outrageous. We always tip and would have done generously. We paid the bill and spotted the £53 service charge afterwards. I have emailed as I felt the attitude of staff on the night wasn’t acceptable and left me feeling embarrassed asking for a refund. I have been offered a voucher for £50 which won’t go far with the prices in there. I was then told to go in and they would refund me but I don’t live nearby. I can’t understand why it cannot be paid back to the card I paid my deposit on.

Booked 2 months ago over the phone for new years eve, when we arrived we was told they didn't have our booking. The manager on desk told us to sit down qns get a drink, it wasn't the normal gentleman on the desk.After half hour asked a member of staff when we would be seated and the floor staff helped more than the manager he didn't know what he was doing. We spent £430 that night you expect better service off a manager very ignorant.

Booked this for a friend’s 40’th as heard good recommendations. The staff were great and very accommodating, however the food was pretty average. We also paid a £70 deposit which was not removed from the bill and we did not realise until after payment. We were told the refund would be immediate which it was not. I also emailed regarding further errors spotted on the bill and have yet to have a response. Drinks are also very expensive, £5.50 for a bottle of water is just as expensive as drinking alcohol! Would probably return however just double check the bills before payment 😊

Xmas meal for our group ,very slow service ,an hour from sitting down to getting food.starter was poor , pomdero,consisted of hard garlic bread slices with chopped tomatoes on top ,no seasoning,no dressing,and consequently no flavour.main course steak very good. desert good but not enough of it.expensive food with poor service and I was expecting better for price ,I don't mind paying more for outstanding food but this wasn't .service charge extortionate so I decided not to pay it and I felt the long wait did not justify paying any tip .the company however was lovely thankfully.

Was sat at our table, within a couple of minutes was approached for our order, not even read through the menu.The lady came back a few minutes later and took our order. My food and one of my friends was warm. When she came to take away the plates she asked how the meal was, my friend said ok, which it was, not awful but not good. Asked if we wanted a dessert menu which we said we would, nothing appealed to us so we just order coffee my latte was like warm. When sat there a waiter stood hovering over our table, obvious he wanted to get our bill, we felt very uncomfortable as the restaurant was half empty. Got our bill, paid it and didn't even get a thank you or goodbye when we left. Beautiful restaurant but unfortunately let down by food and staff.

Went for a family meal , really poor service, waited over 45mins to order . Food is nothing special at all . Lots of really good restaurants in Sheffield don’t waste your time here on over priced over rated food

Truly awful restaurant. We booked months ago for a large group of 12. Arrived and shown to two separate tables where we would have sat back to back. Snooty waitress reluctantly changed the table. Then food orders were wrong. Given complimentary prosecco which was then charged to the bill for £100. Pasta dishes over cooked with zero presentation. Food arriving out of synch with courses. But the absolute worse was the stroppy manager rudely grabbing cash from one guest and passive aggressive behaviour. Avoid here at all cost. There’s so many other better restaurants nearby.

We were looked after by the lovely Tee last night, who made sure we had a fantastic experience. We weren’t left without a drink and food came out quickly, piping hot and absolutely stunning. We will definitely be coming back here, that pasta is to die for! 4 stars rather than 5, just because we had to wait a bit after our booking to be seated, even though we had a reservation, and couples that had arrived after us got seated before us. When we queried this, the member of staff explained that they had an earlier reservation. In my opinion, if you arrive before someone, for a reservation and arrive on time, you should get seated before someone who turns up late for theirs.

I can honestly say the food was abysmal, I have never thought that about anywhere I have ever been. The food was cold raw and smelly, the prawn on my risotto stank all way down the table, I was 6 seats away and could hear people commenting. The chilli and garlic broccoli stems, 😂, oh no raw, cold, vile. The lady at the side of me left all her chicken it was pink. The staff are aggressive if you tell them there floors, they actually hangover you shouting, which was quite funny though, we paid 100 deposit and they tried to charge us full, they said oops 🤔🤣, never ever would I eat here even if I was paid!!!

We came here for my sisters birthday and had a wonderful meal. The staff were amazing, Ricllo and Andrra looked after us very well. They really went the extra mile by interacting with our baby boy. The Andrra was even doing kick ups with the Christmas baubles and hiding behind the pillars to make him laugh. Then all the staff sang happy birthday when they brought out the cake. It was very well run and the food didn’t disappoint either. The Lasagne, Crab Ravioli and salmon Tagliatelle were all delicious! Thank you all for a lovely evening! We can’t wait to come back!
