Shown to table, no-one came to take our order after 20 mins. Realised there was an option to order online, as soon as I had a guy came over to take our order food was lovely. Asked for the bill waited another 15 mins. Asked again!! Paid online worst service ever £40 for two pizza don't bother!!!

Great dinner, but have to say just how great Courtney was in her role, super friendly and such a credit to the restaurant. I hope she’s well appreciated. No matter the situation she dealt with everything and everyone with a beautiful smile on her face 😀

Always great food and pretty fast. Service in Sheffield is really good. One of the staff members named John took good care of us - when he learnt I am a vegetarian he ensured one of the dishes be made vegetarian specifically. Great restaurant which is not highly priced. Would love to return.

Waited 1 hour for water and a starter

Me and my partner where visiting Sheffield and we managed to get a table on a bizzy Saturday night, and I'm so happy we did! Food was fantastic and the staff where really nice (Thank you Kelly) Highly recommended, and I will be checking out the one near me.

My pasta bolognese was verry heavy on the pasta and light on the meat and sauce. My husband had a chicken pasta dish which only had 2 pieces of chicken in it. We shared a calamari starter which was OK. The service was good - speedy and friendly.

Strange experience as there were four of us and the waitress took orders two at a time so two of us always waiting for either drink or food. Margherita Pizza was undercooked so really doughy and damp. Disappointed in the quality of the main courses Desserts were lovely Coffee served one at a time in five minute bursts so one was 15 minutes after the first?!?

Great place to grab a bite of Italian classics, Isaac, who served us here at Sheffield Ask Italian was excellent, attentive and a credit to Ask Italian staff quality. Will definitely be back

Had a voucher so that's why we went. Food was okay but what I chose wasn't. The mushroom starter was too dry. Calzone for main, the truffle was too strong a taste.

First time we have been to Ask Italian , It won't be the last. Nice food and nice atmosphere

So the food was pretty good, no complaints there at all. But the service was honestly downright bizarre! From the second we were seated, we waited approx 20/30 minutes to even have our drinks order taken. The (i think?) European lady with brown hair. She was actually scary! She honestly scowled at us the entire time. She was throwing the food nearly at us- and would seemingly avoid our table like the plague! but she was honestly the most unfriendly hostile server i have ever seen! Then they had some chap in like a really scruffy sweatshirt that was like a jumper advertising some band. And he was moping around constantly. Moaning and just sitting down at the side of the restaurant whilst ‘mrs. miserable’ was trying to serve customers. But he looks so scruffy! who let him dress like that for work? There was a random young girl just stood behind the bar who made the worse cocktails i have ever tasted! £7.50 for a cocktail where they used fresh orange juice full of bits- that were just floating around! We had plates left on our table for around 45 minutes after our mains without anyone contacting us- so we ordered desserts from the app as staff and mrs. hostile were avoiding us. She then shouted at us for doing so. All very odd and won’t be returning

Ordered chicken parmigiana and calamari rings for a starter. What a disappointment!! Calamari was literally tasteless! They looked good, I have to admit, but that's as far as it went. I tried them with and without the mayo that came with it, and it made no difference at all. Chicken parmigiana also looked good but the same happened. Tasteless! The best part of the Chicken dish was the mushroom sauce and that's not saying much. Very disappointed indeed and definitely not wasting my money on this place again.

Lovely place to eat. Absolutely howled laughing at a previous review saying the portions were too small to they had to go to McDonald's, hilarious. The portions are perfect. Ordered a good Malbec. Had aranchini and burrata to start followed by spicy chicken lasagne and beef paparedelle (no idea how to spell that) then we had liqueur coffee and a mini pudding and affogato. We're stuffed full. The atmosphere was really good and our waiter was really helpful and friendly. Value for money indeed.

Had a wonderful last minute evening out before going to the theatre. We managed to get in despite it being Valentine's day! We had the valentines day set menu, great price and choice. I only took one photo as I was so excited to dive into the dishes! Had a lovely night and will certainly visit again!

Visited Ask in Sheffield for a family event -several issues with food and drink not coming out as requested - repeatedly had to ask for things to be rectified (restaurant was not busy as it was late afternoon). One dish was undercooked and cold, others were luke warm, meagre in portion, and underwhelming in taste. Ordered deserts to salvage meal for kids - despite eye wateringly priced ice cream at £4.95 per scoop! Wowsers. Isaac the assistant manger (and our waiter) did comp the deserts and undercooked main and eventually apologised but it was too little a lot late. Go to Proove or Rudys for pizza,or Grazie for pasta - both your mouth and wallet will thank me.

Went to the Sheffield restaurant. John our server today was absolutely amazing. Having an 8 month old we sometimes we feel limited on where to eat. John made us feel so welcome with our little girl. The baby menu was adorable and India absolutely loved it. Food amazing! Especially the lasagna bites!! I honestly couldn’t thank our waiter today more. He made our day. Such a relaxed vibe & high quality food but great value for money. Will deffo come back again. :)

Appauling prices for what you get. We may have gone into recession but this is beyond belief. The waiters were wearing jeans and jumpers!! Me and my girlfriend thought they were random people going up to tables at first until we saw them serving!! Its took over an hour to get our starter and mains and it was fairly quiet. Our starter took around 20 minutes to arrive with our mains arriving after half an hour, the restaurant was probably 15% full. Went for a valentines meal and ordered a con frutti de mare and fettuccini bolognese for main and shared a cheese fondue for over £7. It was very nice but I don’t know, prices these days!! It was a pot of melted cheese with a very stingy amount of delicious ciabatta. Had to finish half the pot with a fork they were so stingy with the ciabatta. The waiters were nice but almost awkward, placing a wine of glass on the table very slowly? Thats just nitpicking I guess, but I wouldn’t be if the prices were reasonable. For a starter a glass of small white wine and two mains came to £41.90!!!! And they expect tips at the end!! For what?? Below are pictures of the starters and the seafood linguine ( con frutti de mare) and the fettuccini. The bowls are tiny, bery shallow and literally a mouthful as you can see. I had around 4 prawns and a handful of mussels with two pieces of calamari in. For £16 this was a joke. My girlfriends fettuccini was literally a mouthful, it was so bad we went to McDonalds after as we were still hungry, even after spending 4 hours of wage on a dinner!!!

Nice enough atmosphere, nice food just not enough of it!! Paying £15 for a main meal, I expect to be full after. We had to go to McDonalds after as we were still very hungry. I had the fettuccini bolognaise and my boyfriend had seafood linguine. Very tasty but as I said tiny portions, thought I got the kids meal by mistake. Just disappointing. We had a cheese fondue starter which I can’t fault, it was delicious. However, after our starter it took about 45 minutes to receive our mains. Far too long, it wasn’t too busy either. Left feeling hungry and disappointed. Also the waiting staff had no uniform, thought I was getting seated and served by a member of the public, they were friendly enough it was just very odd. I won’t be eating here again

Decent place, I like it because they do v good pizzas, but there is a good variety of food on the menu as well, so if you are in a group there is something for everyone.

Visited here while enjoying a weekend away, for a chain we were thoroughly impressed, we were expecting a good standard but this was above and beyond the food was delicious, the service was great. Really hope the local Ask Italians are as good in the midlands.

Wonderful Saturday evening out at Ask Italian. The food was wonderful, as was the service. This is our favourite Italian in Sheffield.

Visited Ask Italian 24th January 24. John served and looked after us he was very helpful even gave us a taste of different wines to ensure we chose the correct one. The starter and main was cooked by the main Chef which was just bursting with flavours and so delicious. We could not resist having a desert which was also delightful. I would recommend you visit. Good food, not a lot of atmosphere and staff need to smarten up their attire. However, on the whole pleasant eatery and will go back.

I’ve been here many times and always had a great experience. I really enjoyed my GF pizza and dessert…. However this time I got really bad stomach pains and bloating after my meal so I’m not sure if there was some cross contamination or something as I’m very sensitive coeliac :(

This is a restaurant that we go to several times during the year. The food is always good and the staff ever so friendly. We generally book as it can get busy and it's easy to do online. A big thank you to our server , Johanna.

The food was very tasty but serving hot food on chilled plates means it doesn't stay hot for long!

I thought I'd done a review for this already but it came up again so I'll do it again. The staff are brilliant. Really friendly and don't rush you with your food and can advise on what to have if you need it. They only slight negative is that the toilets were really cold (no heating) and the food was slightly more than I usually pay, plus the pale ale was around £6.50 for a 330ml bottle, but it was nice nonetheless. We had a voucher as well, which was great, apart from it didn't tell me that after I added extra funds initially in order to use it at the restaurant, I then had to redeem it, although the confirmation email PDF showed it was to be used at this restaurant. Apparently this is a common problem but it's no fault of the restaurant at all.

Been coming here for years - it has progressively slowly, sadly gone down hill. It was cold outside and cold inside. The waitress did not introduce herself. Our favourite starter was not as good as it used to be -this has been progressively getting worse. Toilet had no waste bin and a lot of wallpaper curling up the wall- looked terrible. Main meal was good and service not bad. Have visited many Ask restaurants around the country and they all seem to be getting worse not better. Time for a change - we will be trying other Italian restaurants in future.

First got grossed out by how the caprese salad looked, but it tasted nice Also recommend to try their pasta with purple basil pesto Also try this pizza which had artichoke, fontina cheese Absolutely loved it

Went for the the first time yesterday You are given a lovely welcome drink of lemonade I had beef ragu and spaghetti which was delicious very large portions My waitress was delightful and very attentive I also had a glass of wine and finished with a Limoncello Highly recommend

Not a great service with a long wait from start to finish..would I visit again? Probably not.

Where do I start. "Nice" greeting from the host on arrival. We were sat, orders taken. So far so good. Our Calamari starter was tasty. As the time went on, we started to feel the cold. The 2 waiting staff seemed more interested in clearing out the office than in customers (considering we were the ONLY 2 customers in there). Our mains came, they were hot and tasty. But with the office door and back door wide open, the cold breeze was unbearable. I got the attention of the "supervisor", she asked was everything ok. I said food was good but said how cold it was inside. She said"I don't know what is going on with the heating" I replied, close the back door. Her attitude changed and she became very flippant. I asked for the bill, no interaction or apology. To say I am upset and annoyed is an understatement. We will most definitely not be back, and will tell everyone we know not to bother. What a shame as othe Ask restaurants around the country deliver their brand standard......

Had a table booked for over a month as we were going to the theatre. Arrived 10 mins eaely and were shown to a table right near the door. We then sat there for 20 minutes and were completely ignored by the waitress who served 3 or 4 tables that had arrived after us, and we hadn't even ordered drinks. When I went to find someone we were told that they were short staffed and that there was a 45 minute wait for food. If we had been told that when we arrived we would have left straight away, instead of sitting there for 20 minutes. The restaurant was chaotic with seemingly no order to how they were serving the tables. As we were going to the theatre we promptly left and had to find somewhere else to eat at short notice. Absolutely shocking customer service. Have eaten here many times but will not be returning.

Visited last night. What a nightmare. Terrible service and food very poor. Been here many times and it’s been ok but not last night. Our starters arrived and were only Lukewarm because they had been sat ages waiting to be served, when I eventually managed to get a member of staff was told there was no more so would have to choose something else. Then the waitress pushed her finger in the arancini ball and told me they felt warm to her?? Can you imagine how this made me feel. We were a party of 9 so our bill was over £230 . Very poor.

We all had really nice main courses. I had the mushroom ragu pasta dish which was really nice and not too stodgy as some pasta dishes can be. My friend had the pepperoni pizza which she enjoyed. The only downside was that I had the new dessert "chocolate brownie lasagne" and it didn't really taste of anything much so was a bit disappointing. Apart from that the service and atmosphere was really good. Would go back again but have a different dessert.

The and you for being so disablity friendly and really helping us out as a big family group with children and young adults with learning needs. You were so so welcoming and super helpful . Made the experience chilled and relaxed in a situation that could have been stressful with all the different needs of the group. Delicious food xx

Whilst I would visit this restaurant again because the service was exceptional. Had a few problems with the food being served on and over spiced for one dish. Sadly due to a delivery there was no lasagna available.

Courtney was amazing and helped us out so much with our party !! Made the experience absolutely unforgettable xxx

me and my friends got reservation at 7pm. We arrived there on time and was waiting for them guide us to the seat. We waited for 15 minutes and nobody came. The place was not even full. The waiters did not care about us and neglected us for 15 minutes so we left. Really poor service and i am not going there ever again. Rude restaurant

Very nice Italian restaurant. Good was spot on delicious. The waitress was friendly and helpful. They accommodated a special dietary requirement someone in our family has. The bottled beer was surprisingly good. Calzone could have done with some side salad or salad leaves at least. Thanks to everyone for a great meal.

Food was lovely one off the better ask iv been to always one off my favourite places to eat Update since been back and easily the worse beef brisket parpardelle iv ever eaten come to think of it probably one of the worse meals I have ever eaten it was awful pasta sheets was just like one big block/slad all cooked together beef was really chewy and all in all meal was tasteless left without even risking deserts

Schitterend uitzicht! Extra kaas, zelfs voor Pieter... en hij vroeg er niet eens om! Lieve serveerster, neemt ook foto's van ons als we erom vragen. Je proeft Italië, iedereen heerlijk gegeten en de desserts moet je iet overslaan!

Went on a date with my partner to Ask Italian and it was pretty good! Food was great and the staff were all warm and friendly. Only grudge was that there was around an hours wait between starter & main when the restaurant was pretty empty but other than that a great experience.

Great food, amazing vegan options and the service is amazing! Staff is always smiling and attentive especially always happy and smiley brown hair lady (may be a manager or supervisor). Loving it

Booked a table for 2 at 5.30 over 2 weeks ago.but met with a long Que on arrival tonight (Sunday).. … had to wait at least 10 minutes in the Que before being seated… No explanation/mo apology?… clearly mobbed… but most people had pre-booked their table. Chaos ensued! Didn’t appear to be any system in place? No one obvious in charge Co-ordinating staff?…. .. service staff were all over the place… and kitchen staff were clearly working flat out. Once seated..No back ground music… no menu and no drinks for almost 20 minutes… more ppl arriving by the minute… question getting longer by the minute… still no service?? After 20 mins- a menu arrived… and a tiny shot of lemonade was provided…... Staff were almost running between tables serving, & kitchen….. Yet an ever growing Que is still forming almost out of the door by now?…. I could see people were frustrated- and “waiving” to staff to catch attention for service as were we!..Eventually ordered… waited 15 minutes for a drink… and a further 20 minutes for food to arrive. Good that Food was freshly made’… my pizza was crispy & hot… plenty of rocket and olive tappenade on top - but at £16.50 I expected more than the few tiny crumbs of goats cheese on my topping!!!!! at a professional guess (am an ex-professional chef myself)… I got about 5g of crumbled goat cheese- IF THAT? ?? It’s just Not Enough!… however as we are now running very late- I couldn’t be bothered to complain as it clearly would have dragged this nightmare on -and we had to leave!!! I Was going a live show at city hall… And we are virtually running late!? 90minutes almost up and had to gulp our food down at speed!?? Not enough staff working, not enough timeframe to eat.. Food mediocre!… very poor show. Not a pleasant experience- won’t be going back! Didn’t leave a tip - (didn’t even get a receipt)! Not value for money and borderline stress throughout the event. On the whole- it was a Very poor meal experience.

We ate here this evening as we had tickets for a show at the City Hall which is close by having reserved a table online. Very disappointing experience. The pasta of my dish was tasteless and the accompanying sauce insipid also. The lasagne was not much better and a tiny portion - certainly neither were worth their total cost of £33. It is fair to say that we have eaten better versions of both dishes as frozen supermarket meals for one. We will not be returning.

We have been here before but not for a while, and as there's been a revamp of the menu but it's still great food, I had a sumptuous Mushroom Risotto that greatly exceeded my expectations, it was Sunday evening so it wasn't too crowded and the conversation noise wasn't intrusive at all, we had a nice relaxing meal. A great place to dine...

Had a good meal here tonight before the theatre. Really cannot complain for the price as I think it's very reasonable. Staff are also great especially Thomas who was our server who couldn't be more helpful and cheerful. Thankyou for making it a memorable experience!

The cooking was quality & service was excellent but on reflection not good value for money. Not surprisingly it was very quite for the centre of Sheffield. Background music was not exactly 'Italian' so not good/ right atmosphere. Not their fault, but Sheffield Centre a bit of a tip/ building site and must put a lot of people off. What is the Sheffield Council thinking of...this is a very large city and so they must collect a lot of rates so what is it being spent on? Not keeping city tidy or cleaning up hobos & addicts that appear on most corners. Not a city you would want to spend a weekend in which is disappointing.

Slightly longer waiting to be seated than appropriate for the size of the restaurant. This is the ONLY drawback I of the place.

Came here like many others to eat as it is close to City hall where we were attending a performance by Seal. Booked in good time at 5.15 and were seated and attended to by the excellent John who catered for all our needs in a friendly and prompt manner. Although the restaurant was extremely busy the waiting staff were on top of the job,and we left with plenty of time to spare having had a very pleasant meal and experience.

Absolutely delicious food on both visits along with friendly, attentive staff.

Lovely friendly place with great food. We nearly didn't get there as our autistic son was struggling and wanted to go back to the hotel after a busy day. When we arrived I asked for a quiet table which we got with no problem. Thomas our sever couldn't have been more helpful especially with my sons special requests with his food (no ears on his pizza), it was much appreciated and helped keep him settled so we all enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious and would definitely recommend.

Terrible experience short staffed Took 30 mins before we were served Then another 30 till the starter arrived mine was king prawns which the bread was burnt black and prawns over cooked so didn't eat. Got offered a free drink for the inconvenience so I had a drink that was ok. The main took another 35 mins and 20 mins for a Diet Coke the main was bland Not impressed and will not return.

Booked in advance for 4 people at 5.30pm Quiet when we arrived and good start of service. Ordered drinks starters and mains Got fairly busy and with only 2 waitresses on walk ins had to eventually be turned away. starters and drinks arrived fairly quickly and were good. About 6.55pm our original waitress came over and asked if we were ready to order desserts. We said we still hadn't received our mains. Was a shambles with so few staff and too many walk ins allowed in and being served before us. We decided to get food elsewhere and I left my payment for drinks and food on the table. As we were leaving a different waitress was walking towards us with our mains. I was extremely polite and explained what had happened. She asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said there wasn't any point as it was the manager's fault not hers. My wide and family went and ate elsewhere.

Very good food with plenty of choices. Even managed the mini desserts. Staff friendly and efficient. Not too noisy, so it was possible to have a conversation without shouting!

Visited twice in 5 days we enjoyed the first so much. Second time was for an 18th celebration. This time my coeliac wife chose badly and didn't enjoy her meal as it was way too salty, the rest of the party enjoyed their calzone, pizza and pasta dishes.

Great food and good service! Me and my friend came for food and drinks and had a great meal. The prawns were excellent and I enjoyed my mushroom calzone. The blonde woman serving was alone and seemed rushed off her feet (bless her) but she was lovely and helpful! Very good service :)

Felt like unless we were a white 50 to 60 year old. Service didn't exist. No checkback on food..no cheese offered with the dishes. Took payment to other tables first despite asking first . Waitress with long blonde hair flowing everywhere ,lovely - hardly tied back to be working with food said bye to everyone but us.. Was my first time here and probably sadly last.

Portions a little small but very tasty

Me and my wife visited this lovely restaurant on Friday evening. Amazing food, friendly staff and great service. The best Italian food we’ve had since our visit to Sardinia 15 years ago. Mushrooms Al Forno starter followed by an incredible Truffle ravioli. Thanks for a great evening, we will certainly be returning.

The food was great when it eventually arrived, it just took so long to be served. 100% needed more staff.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and the drinks, food and service has been consistently amazing. It has been about 1 year since I last attended and therefore I was really looking forward to eating there today. However what an awful experience!...

Their lasagne is a joke. No souse, no meat. Just dry pasta.
