Prithvi Restaurant in Cheltenham

Amazing menu, delicious meal with 3 really tasty amuse bouche served and fresh bread with a flavoured butter. Had a tasty mezcal cocktail, ox cheek tortellini for started, lamb cutlets for main and pear tarte Tatin for dessert. The wait staff were very professional and friendly. My only criticism would be, a lady on a table was on a phone call during her meal quite loudly and for the relaxed music and quiet atmosphere the restaurant created, that was a shame. I would definitely recommend and will have to plan another treat again there in the future!

My wife and I went to Prithvi to celebrate her Birthday. The building is fairly understated on the outside, but once inside it exudes elegant glamour in an intimate environment. We were immediately greeted by warm and professional staff and seated quickly without fuss. We enjoyed delicious cocktails while we waited to order. We went for the 5 course tasting menu as it looked really interesting and reasonably priced. The food and service did not disappoint. From the initial delightful snacks to the unique Indian fusion dishes that followed, it was a dining experience rather than just a nice meal. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants fine dining, friendly unpretentious service and delicious food.

We were not disappointed by this place. Amazing food and lovely staff who made us feel really welcome. I think this place is heading for a michelin star. We've eaten at many michelin starred establishments and it's surprising this hasn't got one! We opted for the lunch menu, but got lots of little extras which was really lovely. When we're back in Cheltenham, we will definitely be paying another visit!

A friend I bumped into by chance, asked me: what is it that makes Prithvi your favourite restaurant, is it the food? The service? Or the atmosphere? I could sincerely answer that it is all three, actually

Our party had fabulous night at Prithvi, which never fails to impress from the moment you enter this sumptuously decorated restaurant. We had the 5 course tasting menu which was just “stunning” from beginning to end. This was a far better experience than some Michelin starred establishments recently visited. The staff were exemplary in their professionalism throughout the evening. The management had clearly done a great job in establishing the standards required from them. Well done and thank you to all at Prithvi for such a memorable evening.

As always, a 10 out of 10 on absolutely everything - from the friendly and impeccable service offered by every member of staff, through to the creativity and presentation of every delicious dish (and the pre dinner cocktails on offer, of course!)

Lovely relaxed lunch. Food was excellent, service friendly but not over the top. Atmosphere was relaxed, just right for a lunchtime treat.

Only reason I didnt give this excellent restaurant 5stars was that the side: biryani rice didnt taste nice at all - more like uncle Bens...a bit chemically.... but otherwise the food was particularly good - top marks and big thanks for the birthday cake gesture - nice touch.

This was our third visit in 3 years to this restaurant and it was just as fantastic as our first time. The whole experience is wonderful with amazing food, service, decor and atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip to Cheltenham for an evening to remember. We will be back.

We came here for my Birthday and had the 7 course tasting menu. I have always been a little sceptical about Indian Fusion, but in this particular case, I was very impressed. The initial impression of the surrounding is one of luxury and opulance. The staff are very welcoming, knowledgeable and highly professional. The food is probably more leaning towards "fine dining" with the main emphasis on quality ingredients, beautifully presented and exceeingly well cooked. Any Indian or Asian influences are mild and there to accent the dish. Each dish was unique, but the two stand out courses were the Chalk Stream Trout and the Ox Cheek Tortellini. However, the other courses were excellent indeed. Basically, I could not really fault anything at all. The whole experience was fantastic due to a great team and a Chef with a great Michelin Star pedigree. My Wife and I weree so impressed, we bought the cook book!!! You pay a bit more for this quality of dining, but it is well worth it! I don't think it will be too long before the Michelin "Plate" with be upgraded to a full Star.

Absolutely outstanding food and friendly, unpretentious service. Indian in name and influence of flavours only, we had the most stunning 7 course tasting menu. A high end choice, but not one you'll regret if you appreciate fine cooking, top quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. A Michelin star cannot be far away.

Everything was just perfect, the flavours were amazing and the staff were a delight. It was a birthday celebration for two of our party and they were treated to a lovely cake. It made it a special event for them both.

Simply the best experience! We were incredibly fortunate to get a booking as we randomly stopped looking for a menu knowing nothing about Prithvi. Took pity I think on the two drowned rats before them and had a table for that evening and we are both so happy they did! Staff were first rate! Everyone treated us as if we were the most important people in the world! The food….. the food! We weren’t sure what to have and my wife (picky veggie) was intrigued by the 5 course taster menu, we decided as it was an occasion we’d go all in with the 7 course. Just Wow! It wasn’t cheap (I’ve spent less on a family pub meal but…) I would recommend anyone pondering to do it! Every course was amazing! We had all vegetarian but I had the lamb main. At one point we both looked at each other I said how my whole mouth was alive! My wife felt the same! Every taste bud was alive, absolutely looking for the next sensation coming!

We had an excellent meal at Prithvi as a family. The restaurant is stunning, intimate, cosy and beautifully decorated. The service was excellent, warm and friendly and not at all stuffy. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Exceptional food and service once again!

We have visited Prithvi several times, but not for a couple of years. This visit was with friends on a Saturday evening. Welcome was warm and friendly and the service throughout was excellent as always. This was the first time for our friends who were all "blown away" - we took the 7-course "tour" and it was sensational. I would definitely say this was the best visit we've ever had - and we will be back soon.

My wife and I, together with another couple, enjoyed a fabulous experience at Prithvi on Wednesday. This was advertised as a night of refined dishes and wine pairings hosted by one of Alsace’s most celebrated winemakers. It was a fixed price event, and included a welcome drink and canapés together with a 5-course meal plus many extras. We were served way more wine than we expected and had a thoroughly great night (starting at 7pm and we left at 11.30). Totally outstanding!

A generously hospitable restaurant at ease in its own skin. As it was our first time, we went with the taster menu which turned out to be a good choice. We were able to sample the wide range of tastes and textures which this kitchen is capable of producing. The food was artful, with wonderfully balanced taste. It was adventurous without trying too hard. The staff were generous and attentive.

Flavours and service are perfection. Tasting menu is fantastic. So fresh and creative without being too rich. Brilliant cuisine.

This restaurant could not get any better, the ambience the staff the food just about everything. This restaurant is an absolute must I love it here I have never tasted food as good as this. Big thanks to all staff you are all Amazing but in particular the gentleman front of house who sorted our parking and the lovely blond waitress with a dog called Nessa you made our evening even more special. As regular customers we are always impressed, but on Saturday 8th February we were treated to a spectacular luncheon and superb service. All our party felt that everything had been raised a notch or two. Would wholeheartedly recommend Prithvi

This was our fourth visit and as before maintained the superb high standard we’d previously enjoyed. The dining room itself is beautifully decorated in sumptuous rich dark teal and gold, with perfect mood lighting (unlike the stark bright lighting of some other restaurants making them feel like a canteen!). The staff without exception are professional, efficient and friendly. We were a table of 6 and chose the 7-course taster menu. The food is sublime, the understated description of a ‘selection of snacks’ were a series of 3 separate flavour and texture explosions. Subsequent courses continued to please in the same way. We would all highly recommend this experience, and look forward to our next visit when in Cheltenham again.

A most excellent gourmet meal from the fabulous amuse bouches, 3 totally different, the choux cheese were like eating fromage clouds, the spicy venison a palette pick up and the mango fish with smoked yoghurt simply delicious. I won't spoil the rest, but every dish is at another level on your taste buds. A delight. Bravo.

You don’t just go to Prithvi for the food (although the food is amazing) you go for the whole experience. The staff always make you feel like old friends and are very attentive but not overbearing.

We've visited twice, and have loved it both times. Food is impeccable, service and ambiance also perfect. This is without doubt one of the best restaurants in Cheltenham, would heartily recommend. Deserves a Michelin star, eat here before it gets one and becomes overbooked!

Dining at Prithvi feels like a real treat. This was our first visit and the experience was even better than we'd expected from its long-standing reputation. We chose the five-course taster menu and every dish was delicious, unexpected flavours and textures, and so beautifully presented. Service was excellent, warm and characterful, there's nothing aloof or pretentious about this fine dining experience!

We have visited Prithvi a few times and have always been delighted. Yesterday's meal was quite superb and neither of us can remember ever having eaten better. Service and atmosphere were of a comparably high standard.

New Years Eve Black Tie Event - such an enjoyable night- amazing food as always great atmosphere helped by the excellent singer. Very enjoyable night.

NYE was magic. The food featured some grande lux ingredients, but all the courses were fantastic. The artichoke veloute was a great elevation of a simple ingredient, but then there was the lobster grilled over hibachi coal as a counterpoint. The venison was incredible, the keema doughnut was a lovely surprise. Both puddings were stunning. Staff were so friendly, attentive and always eager and enthusiastic. Also when we asked questions they always were answered. The atmosphere is great, the venue has soft furnishings to soften the acoustics, so there was a warm but soft noise of the hubbub of the restaurant. The addition of the singer for the evening was a lovely surprise.

Our 2nd visit and it did not disappoint, from the friendly welcome and the perfect service. We were very well looked after, attention to detail was impeccable in a subtle way. The food ……. from the three incredible one bite treats that arrived and delicious mini loaf and butter we were already delighted. After 9 years , still one of our favourite places to dine. We live in Manchester and visit 3-4 times p.a. Always made to feel extremely welcome by all staff . Chose a la carte . Great to see one of our favourite red wines back on the list.

Suffers from being judged as an ‘Indian’ restaurant, inspired by ‘Indian’ ingredients certainly, but it attains an accolade in a genre of its own, exceptional ‘taste’ experience with an excellent team and modest owner.

Each course of the 7 course tasting menu was original, beautifully presented, immaculately served and utterly delicious (as were the 3 amuse bouches). We had sampled the tasting menu acouple of months previously (with the same enthusiasm) and no dish was repeated this time. A great experience.

As expected from previous experience, a delightful lunch was enjoyed by us with the usual Prithvi surprises.

Had not been to Prithvi for some time and past experiences were always excellent. This time was in a completely league. Food and service were outstanding. Will hope so return very soon. Simply incredible.

Exceptional food, amazing wines, fabulous service. We always go for the taster menu it’s fantastic and if there is something you dont like you can always swap it out for an alternative. Thank you so much we will be back for our annual christmas visit. :-) Sadly we didnt make last year as our dog was very ill. :-)

As always, the food was spectacular when I had dinner at Prithvi a few days ago with a friend. We had the 5 course menu with wines. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the wine waiter in particular was excellent. Exquisite dishes, inventive presentation, well matched wines... heaven!

In my opinion, the best dining experience in Cheltenham. Bar none. Thank you to the whole team for looking after us again so well.

My second time to Prithvi and it was as good as the first. Food was glorious. Service was most excellent and the whole experience is a real treat. I’d highly recommend the tasting menu. Give yourself at least 4 hours to properly enjoy the whole experience and settle in for the night. The staff make you feel very welcome and aren’t afraid to add a touch of humour to proceedings, which as a table of 6 we loved. It’s not an intimidating, serious atmosphere - it’s an inclusive, friendly one. Really appreciate everything the team did to make us feel welcome and looked after. All the staff seemed happy to be working there which was lovely to witness and you could taste the passion and thought that had gone into the presentation and ingredients of the food. Every bite was meticulously planned and the textures were incredible. The flavours were such a delight. Thank you.
