India Lounge in Cheltenham

We visited on a Friday and were glad that we had booked a table as it was quite busy. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious.

This is my first time coming to this restaurant.The service was better than I expected,I love their attitude and the waiters are nice. Also,the food tasted really good. Their Lamb Pasanda was sweet, it's good for kids and elderly people who can't eat spicy food. Then, the most important thing is the Atmosphere. The air was fresh because they have a little candle on the table. The air-conditioner was new and no dripping water.

Great place to eat . Food is excellent . Rashid and his provide and excellent service , great selection on the menu and the staff are more than happy to advise .

Very disappointing food. Starter platter was rather bland and without flavours and the restaurant tried to give us something else instead of chicken pakora which we pointed out. The main courses we had were both very sweet and not as described in the menu - one should have been mild and one medium spice but both were just sweet. One was with coconut and the other one was mint. My recommendation is to go to Bombay & Co instead. We couldn’t go there as it was closed on the Monday we visited Don’t waste your time and money and don’t go to India Lounge.

Yesterday, I returned for a meal with friends, only to be disappointed once more. Despite the lack of busy crowds, the meal arrived late, and the staff, including the manager, seemed insistent on rushing us to finish our meal quickly and vacate the premises. The behavior of both the establishment and its staff struck me as peculiar, to say the least.

Great service and great food. The food is consistently of excellent quality. A wonderful experience once again at the delightful restaurant.

It must be the best curry's for miles very clean and the service is first class

Atmosphere was ok but food was distinctly average. Regularly have curries at various places and found this one be disappointing. The sag paneer might as well have been a dessert it was so sweet. I've never been served a sweet sag paneer before so this was very strange. Service was disjointed and they didn't listen to what we had asked. Overall quite disappointing.

One of the best Indian restaurants in town and even when very busy the srvice is excellent. Our server was lovely and gave us some excellent tips on dishes. He even modified a couple for us so we all got exactly what we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble and they don't rush you through courses. Traditional decor and very comfortable with tables not too close together. The food is consistently of excellent quality, freshly cooked, fragrant and full of flavour. Love this place.

The food was delicious. We asked for recommendations and we were not disappointed. We all shared the mains. Starters were also tasty. The service was friendly, helpful and attentive. Many of the locals go back time and again. We would recommend.

Lovely food and excellent service all at a reasonable price. Unfortunately wellington boots were needed when visiting the one toilet available to Gentlemen. An urinal is desperately needed as well as a general improvement to the basement area.

We visited on a Friday evening and opted for the attractive menu. Every dish was a beautifully crafted taste sensation. Especially the starters garlic jhinga and seafood raj jhinga .it was decorated shell and crab . The staff were wonderful and venu is really special. Highly recommended.

Wanted to love my Chicken Tikka Masala but it was not up to standards, the sauce was very watery which is unacceptable in a curry, i could literally see the water on my plate, the curry needed more cream and less water - please take note. I enjoyed the pilau rice and the onion bahjee was tasty, the naan was also very good.

Nothing remarkable about this experience at all either way. The food was OK (bit bland), the service was OK, the venue was OK, a bit more upmarket than other Indian restaurants. Portions were a little small.

The restaurant is pleasant, attractive, very clean with beautiful lit up pic with very comfortable seating. The portions were good and value of money and food was very good. Definitely worth visiting this place.

We came from local university for a friend’s. Found this restaurant by chance .From there a great stylish welcoming staff. Food was great and friendly staff. Wonderful ambience. We will back very soon.

The best restaurant I have been to in Cheltenham. From the food I had to the service I experienced,everything was amazing.The staff were excellent and food was delicious. Even the ambiance of the place was out of this world.out of all the places you could possibly choose to go to , I would highly recommend going to Indian lounge.

Food was OK and service in general friendly. The toilets were very average. It was hot and when I attempted to order my second large bottle of kingfisher I asked if they could put in an ice bucket - for £7.50 I don’t think that a big ask - however it was a big ask and they wouldn’t so I saved myself £7.50 The prices were about right but it wasn’t much of an experience really. Lovely road and we wouldn’t return.

Firstly, the food was very bland indeed, very expensive for what you actually recieve, and poor quality. My wife had a Chicken Bhuna, and has literally been up since 2am being sick. She said it was bland, and watery. I had Lamb Biryani, which was such a small and tastless dish, the lamb was vile, and not much of it. Like a microwave meal, in both size and taste, no exaggeration. Complete annihilation of a great Indian dish. We also had a £35 bottle of Chilean Red Wine, which was also not nice at all. We later looked online, and the wine was between £8-£12, so that is a ridiculous mark up. Over all we spent about £80 (2 of us) , it was by far the worst Indian food I've ever eaten, such a disappointing experience. The 2 staff were fine.

This is our favourite Indian restaurant. The food and service are fantastic. Considerable effort goes into making you feel special which combined with excellent dishes make for a lovely evening.

We were a group of 9 visit from london… we were supposed to be in a different restaurant tonight and ended up here … immediately on arrival they noted we had 2 peoples who were dating and in less than 5 mins had food to break the fast even without ordering… fantastic reception… to top that food were all awesome especially the lamb hyderebadi…. Definitely a recommended place for food … when you wan to have some Indian food in cheltenham…. You will not regret it .. kudos to the team ….. the manager over night was a lover the place greeting and serving food at right times..

Fabulous food and wonderful service! They cooked Makani for me even though it wasn't on the menu and it was the best I've ever tasted. It certainly is a pleasure to visit this lovely restaurant!

Dined here during the Cheltenham festival, ok restaurant with a decent ambiance, varied menu with the usual price increases so apparent during festival week, food and service was good, portion size could have been better though, seemed to be smaller than normal, all in all ok, but nothing more.

I loved this place. You don't get free poppadums, you have to drive five miles across town and it is a little proicey but worth it. Pricey has not gone insane. My daughter has veggie masala, gone up by £3 and our curries gone up by £2 Plus the quality is not what it once was. Thre poppadoms were a weird taste, the Tikka starter just too full on, lots of salt/soy. I reccomend not having a tikka starter if you are having a dansak as it ruins your pallette. I just cannot justify £50 for one starter, three mains and two rice

I so badly would like to give this 5 stars The staff were first class. My only criticism is the meat. Both the chicken and lamb were dry and my daughter had to spit out some chicken as she couldn't chew it. The dishes however and I'm talking about the sauses were bloody amazing. Creamy, thick and extremely flavoursome. Just let down by overcooked meat. Still highly recommended though and the price was reasonable.

Chefs specialities are different from the normal curry house fare and not an oily curry in sight. Very tasty.

Very tasty little Indian. Staff are more than friendly and the dishes are varied. We both ordered a curry and my partner (who isn't a big one for hot food) was very pleased with hers. Not too hot, but a warm and very flavourful dish. If you're visiting, parking close by can be tricky, so worth bearing that in mind! Quite an intimate dining setting, which is nice, but the limited seating means that booking is essential. Highly recommend!

I am glad that this evening’s takeaway was not my first experience of The India Lounge. Always 5*, but tonight, only 3* I would normally say that great care is taken with food quality and presentation (even takeaway) but I didn’t feel it tonight. Oh well, anybody can have an off day!!
