Great place in Didcot, especially for pre drinks before you head to Oxford or Reading for a night out. Right opposite Didcot Parkway and Didcot Railway Centre. Must try the karaage chicken. Most certainly considered as the more friendlier version of Didcot Parkway's waiting room!

Heard the bell for my food 20min later I got cold burger cold onion rings. rather than make me a fresh plate they decided to microwave it including bread and salad bread was soggy greasy burger was ruined I paid nearly £20 for basically a microwaved dinner

Venue is lovely and the food was brilliant. However: On ordering drinks at the bar, the bar was quite busy. Fine. 2 staff members making drinks. Everyone waiting patiently. A member of staff comes behind the bar and in a raised voice says ‘it’s two queues, one for that till and one for the other’ then goes off. We just carried on as normal and ignored him, the people waiting the longest who were stood in the middle were grateful we ignored him! Our food took over an hour to come out. We would have appreciated some warning or an update as we had a 4 year old and a 1 year old with us who were getting very hungry and very fed up with waiting. A bit unfair to make a 4 year old wait that long. There was one waitress working very hard but the others seemed more concerned with chatting. When we asked for help, for example asking for dessert spoons we were greeted with smiles. However, my husband saw them clearly say to each other ‘you go over, no you go over, no you’ when we tried to get attention from the wait staff. If we went back it would be just for drinks and the food service was a bit of a disaster which is a shame. Oh by the way, the loos are FABULOUS!!!

We (3 adults, 1 teen and 1 child) went this afternoon to the Prince of Wales in Didcot (opposite the train station) and had the worst experience. Drinks, they didn’t have any soft drinks other than appetiser, Fanta and j20 (not even on the tap). Our food took about 40 minutes and was defiantly not worth the wait. Roast dinners didn’t include greens and was not half a chicken as advertised. Chicken was dry. Barely any meat on the bones and the potatoes looked microwaved. The Yorkshire puddings were tiny, the gravy was way too strong and the carrots were dried out, my mum couldn’t eat any of it and I only just managed to scrape some chicken off the bone. After speaking to the server we got it knocked off the total but defiantly will not return.

Overall our visit was disappointing, there were a couple of menu items unavailable, then two of us were served with the wrong starters. Following that we ordered chunky chips with our main course and were served with fries after we had finished our meals. We were not charged for the fries and the wine was taken off our bill which was a nice gesture but this is the 4th time of visiting the Prince of Wales and I have never had a really good experience. They need to train their serving staff better and generally get their act together.

First visit since the refurb.. really impressive. Luxurious surroundings ( Toilets very boutique hotel).. Warm welcome.. great service and delicious lunch.

Food took more than 1 hour to arrive the pub was basically empty. The meat didnt taste fresh and good definitely dont recommend the burger.

As always great food. Went Today. It was very busy due to the local Truck Festival. The 2 barmen were brilliant especially when electric went out. The boys were certainly kept very busy with food and drink service. I love this pub

The food was poor - overcooked burger, tough pork belly, stale Yorkshire puddings, a veggie "haggis" wellington which would take some describing, uninspiring salad dish. We'd heard good reviews but wouldn't recommend. The service was good though.

Had the flat iron steak which was bland and tasteless,chips were good. Good selection of beers. It’s a greene king brewery pub. Outside and inside seating. Live sports on tv. Never usually that busy, i only use it when I’m getting off the train at parkway.

Good place to go with friends and family . Also very convenient if you fancy a pint while waiting for a train or bus highly recommend

Good value lunch time menu. The pub is well decorated but is always quiet when we come here to eat lunch. Maybe it's busier in the evening.

Came down Saturday night for the band who was absolutely amazing, great song dancing and brilliant atmosphere. Went with my mates and family the staff was welcoming and friendly would definitely come back again.

Drop by whenever I go through Didcot, always has good beer on tap and good guest ales that I don't see elsewhere. Servers are nice and landlord is really pleasant to talk to. Good ambience if you want so drinks or watch the sports.

Great time at the Prince of Wales watching the Euro group stage game on a big screen (England vs Slovenia). The sharing plates are hugely generous, and the Karage chicken is superb. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. We're definitely coming back for more food and fun!

Visit the Price of Wales regularly. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. The food is always lovely. Great variety of food and drink available.

Whilst the pub has been refurbished to a very high standard it’s a shame the experience and service has not been improved. Booked the orangery but had to make a bit of a fuss to actually be seated in there. Came Sunday evening no burgers either meat or vegan and no roast beef left. The vegetables served with the roast beef were questionable too. It was like they made the best of what they had. Was given a free bottle of Prosecco but to be honest we came for our sons 21st and it did spoil it for him. Third time we have eaten there and been disappointed . Won’t be back in a hurry!

Used to be a great pub, but seems to be deteriorating. The place looks dated and not massively clean. It was a friday night, and they had a live band on, but there was still only a handful of customers, so that says it all. Disappointing.

Always an amazing and welcoming place when ever I go and cater for everyone when ever possible.

I am coeliac you have a good GF menu completely spoiled by careless staff/kitchen mixing up the order and serving me someone elses meal. Although noticed quickly I had eaten some. The replacement meal then also came out unmarked from others. Most kitchens use different coloured plates or flags. Generally poor service too.

Thanks for requesting a review - this was our first return to the Prince of Wales following the refurbishment, visiting with my wife, daughter, and granddaughter (15 months) and grandson (2 months). The atmosphere was excellent, clean, comfortable and well fitted. Food (menu variety and preparation) was very nice apart from the muscles which was a real shame - overcooked with overpowering sauce strangely with bread at the bottom of the muscles dish to soak up the sauce making it very thick. Service - very friendly staff, but sadly we waited over one hour for the main to arrive which with a 15month-old was very unfortunate. This is really sad as we just happened to be the first to arrive and order.

We met some old friends, travelling by train, for lunch and shared a selection small plates from the main menu, which were excellent. The pub was pretty much empty so good for talking to friends .

We were served by a lovely waitress called Abbey/Abbie? Who is off to Bournemouth university after her A levels finish to study Paramedical Science. Very attentive and polite. Food was very good too as was the wine. Please pass on our thanks.

Our usual visit to this friendly pub. Ordered Sunday roast for myself and share plate for daughter. As usual was good. Then ordered Sunday roast to take away home for husband, who ate the lot. Love this place.

Great pub proper old school 90s feel very friendly bar staff friendly good selection of beers at reasonable price the manager a Yorkshire man super friendly and welcoming took the inconvenience away from train delays to the point I didn't get the first one home I stayed and got a later one chef was good and made nice food too I'd recommend it

Absolute hole. The opening times in the signs say 10am. Google says 11am. Still wasn’t open at midday The landlord could not be a worse example of a host. Avoid at all costs.

Pit stop before catching the train (great to find a proper pub near a train station!). Good selection of drinks and a lovely range of pub classics on the menu- although we opted for a cheeky bag of crisps instead to help us whilst we washed down our wine! This was a celebration birthday lunch. The Prince of Wales team gave us each a complementary glass of Prosecco and the service was very friendly and helpful. The whole place fells and looks wonderful, following their major refurbishment. You can always judge how much venues care about customers, by the quality and condition of their toilets/restrooms. Theirs are really lovely and at a quality and condition as one would see in five star hotels. The menus offered a good range of choices and the selections that we made were tasty and well presented. We will definitely be back again and recommend it to others, based on our experience.

Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. Actually had a banging Sunday roast here recently which I highly recommend.

We were a table of 7 people for my husbands birthday we waited over an hour for first course to arrive and some had to be sent back As extremely salty a further long wait for our mains to arrive which again had to be sent back 3 fish pies at £19.00 per head were over baked and dry the steak arrived with frazzled mushroom tomatoes and onion ring the muscles were like bullets everyone on the table was very disappointed with their meals and complained to the staff After much debate with the assistant manager he waiverd the bill The refurb of the pub looks wonderful And certainly a nice place to visit But do be aware of the poor service mediocre food at premium prices

Used the pub as I was too early for train. Both members of staff were very polite & pleasant. Beer appears well kept, nice taste at £4.40 for a pint, not bad price. Unfortunately, they have the habit of short pints, even having asked for it to be topped up (picture after top up). The Gents toilets, apart from being very slippery for some reason, could do with some tender loving care (as could the corner of the bar seating area -see photo). The WC door had no lock - not nice sitting on the loo, and someone tries to open the door (see picture) Around 18.45, they turned the lights down - glad I didn't want to order food - couldn't see the menu. After a couple of complaints, they turned them up. The 3rd picture shows the bar - I have included this as so many of the reviews are replied to with "wrong pub"

Booked a private dinning room and paid the required deposit but had to cancel due to change of circumstances and well within good time. However, despite making numerous calls and having to leave voice mails, sending numerous emails, absolutely no response and no refund. There is clearly no customer service at this restaurant so beware!

I have given this place 3 star due to slow service, insanely expensive prices and small portions. First time I've come away still hungry after a pub meal. Very disappointing we used to come here a lot before the refurbishment but now we can't afford it.

Lovely new decoration at the pub - it has been tastefully transformed so I decided to have my 60th brunch there with some friends on a February Friday morning . Looked lovely when the first three of us arrived, we were greeted pleasantly and I immediately ordered a bottle of Tatti and fresh juice - for us and for when each person arrived. We had been sitting there for about 15 mins and other friends had arrived when we realised we’d not got our fizz or even been offered a coffee. When I asked the waitress where the fizz was she said she thought we’d want to wait until everyone arrived. Then she mentioned that they only had 1 bottle of Tatti which wasn’t all that could but then if I paid £30 more she could get us a cold bottle of Bolle! I won’t go into further detail but despite location and food being great - the level of service needs to be sorted out. The staff seemed confused and really not that well informed. Please do address this as I’d really like The Prince of Wales to be a success.

So disappointing, order of Leek and Pork with onion gravey and buttery mash served in what one can only describe as doggie water dishes which were cold, mash that had never had a meeting with butter in all over priced, in saying that the puddings although overpriced were delicious

We were disappointed with the food and I have heard a few people say this. Its a shame as love the new look and love coming for a drink. I had the fish pie and it was not great, everybody elses food was average. My son's steak was disappointing. This pub will do really well when it gets a good reputation for its food.

The Price of Wales West End Esher has had a full makeover and looks very good, the service and food we had were very good. the dinning room was very loud, this is due to no soft furniture or sound proofing.

Unfortunately we didn’t get to eat as we placed our order and half an hour later we were told there was a problem in the kitchen and they couldn’t do the burger so we canceled our food waitress was very apologetic and said we didn’t have to pay for drinks which was nice we will try again another time.

We have been to Prince of Wales many times in the past and always enjoyed it and have always recommended to family and friends...however this was the first time we have visited since the upgrade and though its impressive in the conservatory the rest of the bar was dark and it looked tired and unfinished!!..The food was ok but we though the portions were very small for the price and nothing special a little disappointingly. The service a little upsidasicle we were asked if we would like some olives whist we waited for our friends but they never arrived and had to ask for water a few times before we actually got some!!!..maybe we'll give it a rest before we visit again!!!!

We arrived to perfect seating .. handed the menu .. we had drinks served .. waitress then came back to take our food order .. we had all choosen what we were going to order to then find out 3 of the mains were not being on the menu at that time .. which was totally disappointing .. two of us had the fish pie which was delicious .. not a large portion .. one had the risotto which would of just about feed a child .. disappointing first visit

Amazing refit to this Pub, and a great choice of drinks and food which was really nice and everyone enjoyed their choice. I think the service could of been better, very slow at the bar and a few mistakes on the food order. I guess this should improve as its fairly new. I will be back.

First time since the refit at Prince of Wales and it was fab. Great atmosphere, busy considering it was mid Jan, bar was busy and the restaurant full. Service from our waitress Fiona was great. Loved the food and the vibe the pub gave off, Will definitely be back.

Absolutely poor service. It took 2& half hours to serve a drink and main course to a friend and myself. No coffee as machine had broken down. The food was over cooked. The batter on the fish was too crisp and burnt. Overall it was a dreadful experience. The refurbishment looks good but food and service are not worth a visit.
