In the centre if town, this is the only pub open during the day in the off season. Clean and tidy with friendly staff. Drink and food prices are about average, however the portion sizes are bigger than average. I had the cheese burger/fries and it was excellent. Overall, a pleasant experience

Great service in a warm and welcoming pub. There was little else open in Criccieth early November so we were very grateful to find this pub and even more pleased to receive such a warm welcome. Recommend the burger in particular.

After 4 years of visiting the coastal areas of Porthmadog Criccieth and Abersoch, I popped into Criccieth and decided to explore other parts of this lovely place. In need of a bit of shelter from the change in weather, we found Prince of Wales. Well, after 4 years, why have I never ventured into this fantastic pub before. Whoever ran the bar today, 30th September 24, she is an asset to your pub. Friendly attentive and welcoming as we'd just arrived looking for a snack and, of course, a cheeky beer she made us aware that the kitchen was about to close but said not to rush and gave us the menu. Looking around, people were eating what I would say, home cooked food, and it looked amazing. We decided on tuna mayonnaise baguettes, and they didn't disappoint at all. They came with a side salad crisps and coleslaw. Again, the bar staff was very attentive and couldn't do enough for us and others that are in the pub. The pub is on the corner of the high street, and where we sat looking out of the window, I can see the castle. The bar has two sides with traditional ales and a good selection of largers, beers, and cider. Overall, the food was priced very reasonably the same as the beers. I would definitely recommend visiting this lovely pub if you're looking for good food and drink, so don't wait 4 years like I have go on pop in and say hello, ypu won't be disappointed. Thank you to the staff on the day we visited Tess she liked you too.

I had booked a table for five adults on September 3rd for lunch the following day. Our immediate impression on arrival was of a pleasant and tastefully decorated interior and high level of cleanliness, the toilets were immaculate. Our meals were beautifully and freshly cooked and delicious, staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed for several hours and lingered over our meal enjoying our conversation,we were never given the impression that we were out staying our welcome. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough,it was perfect. Many thanks to the owner/manager and his staff for a memorable experience which will definitely be repeated, Glyn Jones, Bangor.

As a family group of 5 including vegetarians and picky eaters, we opted for the Prince of Wales as it offered a good selection of items. It’s a nicely kept establishment, but does look a bit tradition from the outside but don’t let this put you off if you’re normally over faced by this. The staff here are so friendly and the landlord in particular was keen to ensure we got a table. It was clear that he’s keen to ensure he keeps this venue busy! The food menu catered for all our needs, and when it came, the portions were generous! The home cooked chips were lovely, and the vegetarian meals were thoughtful and not just the usual thing you get in some place. Staff were keen to please, with table service throughout and every effort made to please. The desserts menu was simple, but again a bit different from other places, with ice cream-based desserts, Definitely one to check out if you’re after a warm welcome and home made meals.

We were walking through Criccieth and felt in need of some rest and refreshment, possibly with a meal. Disappointment of finding one pub which didn't seem interested to serve customers while the sport was on TV, then finding another pub (part of a hotel) who were equally unwelcoming, and only serving limited food for very limited time, we were delighted when we came across the Prince of Wales. This is a very welcoming establishment, with a warmth that hits you as soon as you enter. They welcome walkers, well behaved dog owners (not sure if this means well behaved dogs or well behaved owners), and provide a good selection of drinks plus a very good selection of generously portioned good quality meals, all with no rush. Their manager/landlord is very on-the-ball: as soon as he saw we were looking for a table, he approached us and made sure we knew he would find us somewhere as soon as possible. Reassured, we got drinks, and soon enough were seated. Such is the atmosphere in this place that we were quickly chatting with different people, and could see why it was so full amd so popular. We returned again later in our holiday and found the same welcome.

Nice friendly pub, cosy. Had Sunday Roast, and unfortunately it was OK but not the best. We ordered lamb and beef. The lamb was thin sandwich slices that tasted dry and we were told the beef was quite rare, however it was sandwich thin slices again and not rare at all. The roast potatoes were over done and dry, and the veg was quite basic with peas, carrots, and cauliflower, which were dry too. The gravy and yorkshire pudding were lovely. Two of our drinks were wrong, but otherwise, the service was friendly and speedy. It was very clean, including the toilets. I would consider going again, but try something different on the main menu next time.

After visiting here yesterday now I know why, the service right from the start was amazing, even offered our dog a bowl of water and made us all feel so welcome. The food was outstanding, we’ve been many holidays in our touring caravan and this place is right up there as one of our favourites ever. Even the lovely touch with the chef bringing out our food was really nice. We had the chicken burger, scampi and prince burger, top marks for food, everything was first class and the chips are something else too, best food overall we’ve had. Going to miss this place when we go back home to Scotland. Thanks so much for a memorable visit. Can’t recommend this place enough 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Some of the best food we have ever eaten and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The cutlery is brought in little paper pouches with the dessert menu on the back which I thought was a really good idea and we started discussing which desert we wanted as they looked fantastic, however the mains were so tasty and filling we didn’t have room for pudding.
