Great location First visit Pubs needs a total refurbished. Nice another landlord. Poor selection of ales and basic food . Pubs should be a gold mine unfortunately it’s underwhelming and will close eventually as it’s not supported. Garden is uninviting cheap furniture and only for kids. Such a shame as theirs no other pub local .

The Sunday lunch in this pub is superb and good portions in all courses. The Staff are very polite and accommodating. They treated us really well and also our Huskies too. I had a bad experience with the previous management, but these new people are superb in all departments. Thank you!! … you will go far with your excellent standards and customer service. Vegetarian options available too. Nice clean toilets, camping pitches in an adjacent field, nice size beer garden with kids play apparatus. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PUB FOR DINING AND DOG FRIENDLY

We visited the Prince of Wales to celebrate our friends Birthday, wary of the panic that is gripping the country over the covids, so we did not want somewhere likely to be over crowded. What we found at the Prince of Wales was astonishing, with the Pub deserted and only us having a meal and three other people (plus a dog) having drinks. Our reaction was how so many people were missing out, none of us have been to this Pub for many years and we were all pleasantly surprised at how it had changed since our last visits. The Pub has been very tastefully upgraded with a pleasant patio garden added since my last visit. The best of the Pub was still to come, with the superb food, we all commented on the great choice on the menu with the Ladies in our party absolutely amazed at the number of Chicken dishes, which they like but with chicken virtually ignored by most Pubs and Restaurants (we assume it is not considered posh enough for them). I had one of their specials, which was pork pie, definitely not what I was expecting. This was a hot pork pie, much like a steak pie but with Pork and it was delicious and I especially liked the lovely salad that came with it. My Wife was also taken aback with the chicken strips with mushroom sauce it looked and she confirmed it was also superb. I wasn't brave enough to try it but after we had eaten the lovely waitress explained what the Latvian chicken on the menu was, and it confirmed that we will definitely be back and very soon to try it out, it sounded fantastic. Full marks to Prince of Wales and their very friendly and helpful staff during such difficult times, they really deserved to be full at this time of year, but thanks to the panic they are sadly not. Rest assured we will definitely be back and would recommend it to all of our friends.

4/11/21: After driving around looking for somewhere to eat and park our motorhome my husband and I stumbled upon the Prince of Wales pub. It was a cold evening and we were greeted by the landlady who just exuded welcome and hospitality. She kindly agreed to let us park overnight in the carpark. Ordered some drinks and some Thai food. The pub had a bar and billiards room, a restaurant, music and a few locals made it feel comfortable. The food was first class and served with a smile. Very authentic Thai. freshly prepared. Thank you to the Landlord and Landlady for making us feel so welcome and delivering high quality food and service.

Lovely pub. The landlord was welcoming and staff very friendly. The campsite out the back was perfect for a pub stopover, the bonus of access to a toilet. We enjoyed a lovely meal, even though it was late and most likely near the end of service time. Recommend to anyone who fancies a night away in their camper 😊

We stayed at here for 1 night. Colin was very attentive when we arrived. The field for camping was cut short and easy to access. The pub it self was lovely, very clean and a great outside area for adults and children. We had a Sunday roast which was delicious. It was hot and had all the extras. The staff were attentive and we didn't have to wait very long at all. Definitely worth a visit! A* service.

We found this place by chance and were so glad we did! The campsite we were meant to stay at was fully booked so ended up finding this hidden gem. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner. We used the pub often for drinks and food and were made to feel very welcome. The lasagna and salad was lovely as were the breaded prawns. We have already recommended this place to others and will be returning ourselves. Thanks for a wonderful weekend

We had a fantastic charity evening at the Prince of Wales on Tuesday 19th November. We had so many supporters turn up, Fitz The Manager and his staff were amazing and looked after us all night. The food was superb and nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff contributed towards our raffle prizes, Fitz set up the TV to enable us to show a video as to why we were raising money and also donated to our fab cause for Lucy's Mission to Michigan - a 10 year old little girl fighting Neuroblastoma. The evening was extremely successful and emotional and we couldn't have done it without the support of the Prince of Wales. Thank you all you were amazing. Deb & Alison x

We stayed here for one night only as it was a convenient location to stop over en route to visit family. Camp site is very basic but flat. No electric and water was right at front of pub. Didn’t find the chemical waste facility and nowhere for grey water waste that we could see. Pub closed until noon the next day so no toilets before then was not great but it said toilets available during pub opening times. Access to field was a bit narrow but ok. Pub was nice, food was excellent but quite expensive. Landlord was very friendly and helpful. Would stop here again but only for one night.

The garden was sooo safe for children and the trampoline is an absolute hit with the kids. Main course "Hand carved Ham" see photo, processed sliced ham with crucified fried eggs (come on cook, anyone should be able to serve a decent fried egg, shameful really), Steak and ale pie was good until i came across a blond hair! When I visit my family I always visited this pub for dinner with them. Went there on Sunday and it was most disappointing from a owner/ manager who does not reply to emails or had no personality or sense of humour. My family ordered a variety of dishes the Sunday roast was absolute rubber that’s two dishes, my daughters chiken was so over cooked that it was black around the edges and dried out one lasagna was greasy and one was ok, the only real hit was the ham , egg and chips but that is really difficult to screw up . This bar / restaurant was empty exept for two other couples that says it all for Sunday lunch, stay away awful !

Visited for the first time recently and despite finding out after we left that we should have received a platter of veg with our roast dinner, I'm still giving this food top marks! Third visit as large group for family birthday over 20 people this time have had 2 really enjoyable experiences in the past plus several indepedant visits. However based on this last experiance which was appalling from customer service to food quality as if they no longer seemed to care anymore. Portion sizes much smaller than previous visits especially basket meals, steak meal with slice of tomato not even half and a sad looking excuse for a mushroom, garlic bread burnt, kids pizza made with ciabatta bread with the topping put on crusty side of bread, and 5 onion rings for £4.50 come on really. One member of party had issue with a soft drink and the response was frosty if not entirely rude from barstaff. Only one waitress on duty serving our entire party and some people had finished their food before some had received theirs the poor girl was left on her own while 2 people where behind bar dealing with their 4 other customers priority was obviously not important despite our repeat custom which clearly accounts for nothing. They were advertising that they had new chef but not excuse really unless he has no experience whatsoever. No effort was made to organise the tables in group so we could all sit together they were all seperate as usually set out for rwgular business. And the insulting part is they charge 10% service charge for parties of 8 or more to account for extra staff etc. which they clearly didnt use i personally would not have paid this but it was not my party and we had already prepaid the organiser. Was once a good place to go but sadly no more should have realised something was amiss with only 4 people in the pub on a saturday afternoon would not be surprised to see change hands or close down soon as quite clear they have given up trying in every aspect of this business probably for the best.

We have been here before previously and enjoyed the food and service and was able to select food from the main menu on a Sunday due to someone having special dietary requirements. However when we arrived today we could only order from the Sunday menu but did offer a jacket potato for our family member who couldn't eat off from the sunday menu. All drinks tasted watery and flat this was cokes and beers/ales. The wine however was great -stick to the wine here. Our food took over hour to come with no apology for delay. 5 of us had the Sunday roast and we are left dissapointed and hungry. The potatoes weren't cooked probably and there wasn't enough veg for 5 people and gravy was watery. The veggie gravy was so bad that I couldn't finish the food on the plate because of the taste of this and the cabbage was so vinegary we could smell it from across the table. We commented and complained 3 times and asked for money off the bill however they didn't seem to care about why we were unhappy and didn't seem bothered about our comments as it was the whole table who felt the same. We did however get £11 off the bill but it wasn't worth what we paid. We won't be returning which is a shame as we did enjoy this before it was taken over.

Having heard quite good things about this pub and seeing the lunch deal signs out the front, I decided to go here for lunch. We were greeted by a nice young waitress who informed us that there would be a 30 minute wait. We were okay with that so we took a seat, however there were lots of empty tables which confused me as the wait was so long, but so few people were here. We assumed that there might be a shortage of staff so we decided just to wait for our food. An hour and a half goes by, and our starters finally arrive. The waitress kept on apologising which was unnecessary as we knew that it was out of her control and she was doing the best she could to keep everyone happy. It surprised me how there was only one waitress to attend to everyone in the pub while also running the bar at the same time. Once we finished our starters we then had to wait an extra 30-40 minutes for our mains. I had ordered the ‘Mac’N’Cheese’ which was very disappointing. I’ll usually eat anything and am not a fussy eater, but this really was disgusting. Firstly, the dish was about 95 parts sauce and 5 parts macaroni, this made it feel more like a dip than a pasta dish. Secondly the sauce was curdled and very unappetising and looked like it had already been eaten and chucked back up again. The waitress took our plates away and apologised again, I feel sorry for her as she was trying so hard to make sure everything was okay and to basically run the whole front of the pub. We didn’t bother ordering desserts which is a shame as we were looking forward to them, but with how the first two meals went, we didn’t know how long we would wait or whether the food was going I’ve worth it, so we just decided to get the bill. we Went up to the bar to pay for our meal, there was who I believe to be the landlady and the waitress. The landlady was chatting away and the waitress was doing some other work. We were acknowledged by the landlady, yet she didn’t choose to ask what we were after. So we stood and waited, luckily the waitress saw us and prepared our bill. After we paid we walked out of that door for the final time, never going back.

I went with my father for lunch on a blazing hot Saturday. we went out to the Adults only patio garden which was really shabby.... it would benefit from a good sweep and tidy up, last year's hanging baskets containing old dead twigs removed and replaced and a thorough cleaning of the whole area would transform it ten fold! The waitress was well mannered, clean and presentable. The food we had was really tasty, scampi well cooked and just how we like it. The chips were absolutely delicious and the best I have had anywhere. They don't look great but just wait until you try them. I'm sure that you will not be disappointed!

Had to carry drinks ourselves and wait about 45 mins for a couple of baked potatoes, ham egg and chips, a burger and more chips. The chips were good though but we were all starving by then. Where was the owner or reponsible staff member? Visited this pub with a friend to watch the football on the 19th May. We ordered a round and to cut the story short, my beer didn’t taste right. Went to the bar, where someone else was ordering the same beer that I had, and the barrel had run out, clearly why mine tasted foul. When I asked to change my pint, even saying I was happier to have a cheaper beer, I was told by the LANDLADY that it ‘wasn’t her problem’ and that I should ‘change my toothpaste.’ I was quite honestly shocked at how rude she was. I will never be returning as they clearly don’t care about their customers. If I could give 0 then I would.

Seasonal Veg aplenty so much choice! Meat was cooked to perfection, and spuds were delicious! It had a rustic taste to it and seasoned perfectly! There was 9 of us including 1year old and whilst he will devour anything his somewhat fussy sister aged 8 was over the moon with her choice of Mac n Cheese with salad and garlic bread. I suffered a fully deflated rear tyre on my van yesterday morning right outside the Prince of Wales and I had no signal on my phone. Even though they weren't open, the landlord of the pub happily allowed me to use their phone to call for assistance. It's was over 2 hours before I was back on the road and I apologise for not saying thank you in person before I left. I hope this positive review helps makes up for that and gives me the chance to say thank you publicly!

Came with brother in law. He ordered a Guiness which tasted strange to both of us and very wrong. Bar staff refused to change it even though we'd only had one sip each to try it. Instead she was adverserial and unhelpful. If you want a drink in a pub with friendly helpful staff, this is definitely one to avoid.Pool table was broken, no entertainment indoors for kids as it qas raining outside.Alot of loose cabling draped around pool queues right next to entrance to toilets and connected to decoder balanced atop a TV mounted high on the wall, on the other side of the door frame!! This is not a kid safe environment.

Girls night out for a birthday instantly had reservations about this pub as staff were very off, only 6 eating but insisted on us ordering in advance. Meal was nice, the attitude of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. Took a cake with us and were advised if we wanted to eat it, we would have to pay a 10% service charge of the bill for the privilege. Would not advise anyone going here for a group meal. To top it off, we had to put up with campers in the local campsite constantly walking past to use the toilet. Awful experience and birthday ruined!!

Found the bar staff member very welcoming when entering. The waitress we had as well was very polite and efficient with a nice manner. Waitress had to go and check with the chef to make sure it was ok to give us a table. At the time the restaurant was empty and the whole time we were there there was only two other tables of two people. We were in for around 1.5hrs and a party of 5. This seemed very strange/odd.The food was nice but nothing special. Not much of a selection of options to choose from. The drinks were of average cost for the area but I’ve had better quality from the pump. There’s an outside area for children to play in but unfortunately a lot of the toys were either broken or missing parts. There is a bouncy castle that they try to put up as long as it’s not too windy and there’s no chance that it might rain/shower.Quite a lot of free parking offered. There is also a quiet garden area for adults only, but to access this people have to walk through the restaurant tables; disturbs the meal a little. Was handy to visit as it was at the end of the street otherwise I think I would have given it a miss

With out a doubt one of the worst meals I have ever had topped off by a very rude manager / so called chef. Steaks were full of sinew and definitely weren't fresh. As for how they were cooked .... terrible. Chips where frozen oven chips served hard in the middle and the peas where like bullets. The manager had no idea of customer relations or how to talk to people. Needless to say I will not be returning.

We stopped off here on the off chance having driven past many times in the past but never stopped to check it out. We parked in the free car park and walked in to the bar to be greeted by a very pleasant young lady who advised on the best beer on offer and handed us the lunchtime menus to check out. We then went into the adults only garden and made our choices. I had the jacket potato with chilli con carne which, pepped up with some tabasco sauce, was delicious. I washed this down with a local draught beer - Timothy Taylor which was great. The others with me had the soft baguettes with very generous fillings. We were mostly on our own in the "garden" and only later realised that there is a second, larger garden catering for families. We all agreed that we had made a great choice. And what made it was the simple, welcoming and polite, friendly attitude of the young bar maid. Well done. We'll be back!

Visited this pub last night and had the most amazing chicken and ham pie; and the staff were so friendly and so welcoming. Even though we hadn't booked; we will definitely book next time before hand so we don't miss out on this wonderful food and welcoming atmosphere.

Visited here for meal with my partner and 3 children. Arrived and restaurant area was empty. Very rowdy noisy group in the bar area watching the footie. Language was really bad considering we had 3 young children with us. Maybe the regulars know to avoid dining when footy on. will check if there's a football match showing next time we book with the children as this is one of our fave pubs to eat out with them as staff always friendly and helpful. Food was excellent as always and will definitely return.

Easter Saturday 2017 and we took Dad to his home town of Barnham after a 50 year absence. He still knew most of the pubs, and after a couple of false starts we came upon the Prince of Wales. What a find! A vibrant pub with a good restaurant. All three of us had Bangers and Mash followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream. The sausages were superb and the fresh vegetables that came with the mash were cooked to perfection. It all arrived piping hot, as did the Pudding for dessert. Service was friendly and excellent. So, with a reasonable bill for the food and drinks and full bellies we congratulated ourselves on finding such a great place.

This is another lovely welcoming pub and you will almost always see the landlady behind the bar and the landlord will be i the kitchen.Great to have a drink and socialise and great for a nice meal as the food area is separate to the bar which I really like. sometimes you feel you are not welcome if not eating this is definitely not the case here.Regular live bands too!

We had Dinner here last night and although quiet we had a lovely waitress Amy and the food was delicious, well cooked and presented with several good choices. We then went to the bar to try the Gin menu which is extensive and worth a try. Chatted with Joe and Ivan who are very welcoming, we would definitely recommend this pub to anyone as it is very good and we will certainly go again. Thank you for the Birthday singing

Nearly had to cancel going to the quiz due to accident on road. But we eventually got there for 7:30 but didn't know that the quiz didn't start until 8:30 but we catched up with a drink. The quiz was very good, my team came last but it was taking part. We finished around 11:00pm. Didn't get home until 11:30pm. Will go again next week

I went with my Mum and Dad and girlfriend to celebrate my Mum's birthday on Remembrance Sunday. Three of us had the roast dinner (lamb and beef) which was expertly cooked and was accompanied by fresh vegetables, home made Yorkshire pudding and real gravy. The meal was hot and the vegetables were cooked just right. I would highly recommend the pub restaurant. The prices are not high so it represents excellent value for money.

Four of us went to the Prince of Wales as we often have done on a Wednesday evening and enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much we returned again this week with 4 friends. The service from our young waitress was excellent, the food and wine was enjoyable. Its not Michelin starred type food, but its good and cooked well, typical pub food, However, one thing that particularly annoyed us all was the 10% service charge added to our bill. We always tip at least 10% for good service and had I not looked at the bill we would have added another 10% ! I have since checked the website and in the small print on the menu it is stated as a discretionary 10% for tables of 8+ as the restaurant was hardly bulging at the seams one would think they would do all they could to keep the customers they have coming back. We are more than happy to tip the restaurant staff but object to sneaky charges which were nearly £15 .

Friendly staff, great breakfast/brunch options, good value. Lovely to be able to get food at a railway station from an independent cafe rather than a big chain :)

Once you get used to the smell from the toilets on the left hand side of the bar and the uncomfortable seating if you aren't there quick enough for the cushioned benches then it's a lovely pub with friendly staff. The food is really hit and miss, I've had some great stuff and not so great but it's fairly priced and suitable enough to soak up alcohol or snacking whole being sociable (especially their sharing platters). I wouldn't choose to go there for a meal particularly. Very dog friendly pub with treats and toys for your furbabys. Really good pub for showing sports and they have a pool table, slot machines and small outside garden

Staying at the Caravan and Motorhome site just a few minutes walk away. We wanted a late lunch but even though it advertises a menu there was no one there to cook food that day. Lots of locals some with very colourful language. There seemed to be lots of clutter around the place. Would we revisit…unfortunately no.
