Prince of Peckham in Southwark

If you want authentic jerk chicken, this is the place to go in Peckham! It’s a very good price and it will fill you up and if you pick the right day, there’s 2 for 1 and a DJ! I came here for my son‘s 18th and we used the Kareoke room upstairs and now we come back regularly, especially to show off Peckham at its best to the out of townies!

AMAZING!! Came though for R&B Thursdays and I must say the staff really make it everyone from the bar staff to the kitchen staff preparing lovely meals! Had the pleasure from Abdul & Andre with the beautiful drinks that were made !! The reason for my consistent return 😁 Thankyou !!

Recommended by my 18 year old son - and celebrating his 18th birthday, really enjoyed the food and service. Including beautifully written reservation cards on the tables!

Rude staff which was unnecessary. Staff told us all to leave after one of us needed to go back home even though they had ID and were clearly over age.

This is one of the best pubs in London, I have an amazing time every time I go. Friendly service, attracts a friendly and diverse crowd.

A group of 6 of us went on a Friday night, walked in and encountered an indifferent staff at the entrance who was constantly distracted as he walked us to our table which made it take a lot longer than it should have. Indifference seemed to be the theme as all of the staff we came across were much the same. Diners have to order and pay at the bar but when I tried to order, I was told the kitchen was closed. This was odd as some of my mates had just ordered their meals and drinks. Staff couldn’t explain why the kitchen would be ‘closed for 30mins’ even though we could see it was still open and busy serving food. In the end, we shared what we had already ordered. The jerk chicken was by far the best thing on the menu. The wings were terrible, seemed that had just been warmed up in a microwave and bland in comparison. Crispy okra was ok. Recommend the curry goat croquettes and jerk chicken.

Amazing reception in a great atmosphere from staffs as well as guests coming in to dine or have a drink. The drinks are for a good price and the food also is great and they do have a tight and alert security in place for night life. My guests were happy and many would like to revisit and recommend. Even though I was unable to book a table online, I walked in an spoke to a member of staff who cleared a table for us to seat and bcos I am pregnant he made sure we got a table service, we went with 4 kids. The food was really nice my second time going. The Mac md cheese, jerk chicken burger is my favorite not forgetting the chicken wings 😍.

My daughter in law had heard great things about this place so we thought it would be a good Mother’s Day venue. There is no straightforward rail travel so 8 of us took a minicab 50 minutes from Purley to Peckham. The place was busy which is usually a good sign. WRONG. The staff were inept and untrained at the very least. There appeared to be zero communication between front of house and kitchen and we watched as food items sat on the pass for up to 15 minutes before being taken to tables. After a lengthy wait our food started to arrive. It was cold. My lamb was also dry. The Mac and cheese was not only cold, but overcooked. One of our diners mains didn’t turn up at all. It turns out the kitchen had failed to tell front of house that they had run out and therefore no alternative was offered and by the time they realised, it was time to turn our 2 hour table. Most of the sides ordered didn’t turn up either but sides we didn’t order kept on coming. CHAOS! The staff were unapologetic and took no accountability, placing the blame squarely on the kitchen’s shoulders. As we paid on ordering we are still awaiting the promised refund for the main meal and sides that didn’t materialise. I have rarely had a worse dining experience. I’m sure there are hundreds of excellent Caribbean restaurants throughout London. I would suggest anyone considering The Prince of Peckham, trying one of them.

Love this place, need more staff as always pushed to limit for getting through orders whether food or drinks. Great atmosphere day or night

1. Food temp was cold, when asked for another portion was told ‘all the rice comes out of the same pot so it’s all the same temp’ waitress wasn’t rude but didn’t really resolve the situation either. 2. Food wait times was over an hour (restaurant was not that busy!) 3. Restaurant temp was cold- everyone kept the jackets on the whole time. 4.ordered the curry goat shank…was tough. Did not fall off the bone, left most as it was not tasty at all. 5. Booked for a table of 5 adults & 1 toddler. Was given a table which was suited to 4 at most (2 adults on stalls) & when asked to move to a bigger table they said no the group is not big enough. 6.staff were in no hurry to clean tables or remove empty glasses from our table or any of the empty tables surrounding us (again wasn’t very busy so no reason why they couldn’t have cleaned it) All members of our party have eaten here before previously and we all agree that this visit was shocking compared to other times we have been & are unfortunately unsure if we will return.

The service was really terrible took half an hour just to order a drink was getting completely ignored, 4 of us ordered food, after waiting 45 minutes we asked where it was and was told the kitchen had lost the ticket and they’ll make it now no apology, no manager came to speak to us so I asked for a refund. All of the staff in there are really unprofessional and unwelcoming. I understand mistakes can be made in hospitality but not one member of staff went out of there way to rectify it. The pub wasn’t busy at all we were one of a few tables in there and within that 45 minutes nobody thought to check our food.

Happy hour is very limited (8 drinks with lots of juice and single shots). Iconic prine of peckham cocktail (full price) was dull too tbh. My 1st and most likely last visit when cocktails are involved, but I may try out the food on my next visit. Get out the area and visit decent spots.

They add a service charge to any single order at the bar.... Service charge for ordering and collecting at the bar?? I only realised at the end of the night, when a single pint was £7.80....... Prices are already high, but this is a devious and ridiculous practice in my opinion.
