Ordered a takeaway last night after a long hiatus from using this business. Following a brave attempt from a staff member at being friendly as I walked through the door, that all very quickly evaporated to a surlyness bordering upon contempt within 20 seconds which became very apparent to me. I picked my order up at 11pm, they're open until 11.30pm according to their website, yet I could clearly see that they were not happy at all that I'd placed an order that late, and this was on a Thursday, not a Monday! The chef brought the food out, dressed in his coat, ready to go home, with his face literally tripping him up! I got home, only 5 minutes away, to find a tiny portion of rice, which was the only hot item, a main which was just about luke warm, and the starter cold, as in stone cold. This was after me picking up my food 20 minutes after placing my order as per their instruction. Food lacked any dimension regarding flavour of any sort, besides the distinct lack of temperature, I had paid £16.50 for not very much food at all, that was overall luke warm at very best. They are obviously happy to take your money without what seems to be a single thought about if you'd ever want to go back there ever again or recommend their restaurant to anyone else, what a way to run a business! I very simply won't ever be going back or giving them any sort of recommendation! I got a blatantly stark reminder that I obviously did have a very good reason for my long hiatus, but I had decided last night that I was prepared to give them another chance. Whereas, in actuality, they only succeded in demonstrating to me exactly why I hadn't used them in so many years in every single way. (I'm a Wendover resident for well over 20 years) My experience last night can only be described as totally diabolical, I didn't enjoy one single bit of the experience! I'll be using their direct competitor from now on, only up the road and they do actually seem to care what goes out of their door. Their service is good, and their food does have some proper dimension to it's flavours, unlike here....plus its never cold!! Spend your hard earned cash somewhere else is my advice, my experience with this restaurant has been outrageously bad on all counts, both now and all those years ago too. That goes for the food and a shocking attitude from the staff, because hospitality, it's definitely not! Seems like some leapords never change their spots and this one certainly hasn't, it's got worse if anything! I'm not one to normally leave reviews, but after last night's experience, I've decided to change all that, the good people out there have every right to know about what amounted to a pretty ghastly experience for me, from start to finish. As much as I'd love to support and recommend a local business, not this one, not on your Nelly!

My wife and I had not had an 'Indian' eaten out for a while as she has been isolating due to chemo-therapy. The entrance to the car park at the place we intended to visit was obstructed due to inconsiderate drivers so we tried the Prince of India near by. We were given a warm welcome by really friendly people, the service was first class and above all the food that we ordered was outstanding. We are looking forward to our next visit!

I recommended this restaurant to a couple of friends on Saturday and, indeed, I walked them to the door. Alas, I was informed of very slow and poor service and a below par meal. I don't generally leave poor reviews, but as my recommendation now counts for nothing, then it is warranted. Pity, because this was my first choice for myself as well, even if I hadn't been for a while.

Called in a small order at 18:10. We were told it was a 40 minute wait which was fine as we were on our way home and timed it so we could collect rather than wait for delivery as we had our son in the car. We pulled up and went in at 18:45. At 19:00 we chased…..nothing. They completely ignored the fact it was now late and carried on serving tables. At 19:10 asked again….nothing. By this point I’ve had to sit in the car with my son for 25 minutes. At 19:15 we told them to just leave it was it was nearly 25 mins later than expected. Funnily enough THEN the food appeared. When we got home it was not correct either. Good was cold and overcooked. If they had told us the wait was going to be over an hour we wouldn’t have placed the order! Never again!

My husband and I are regular Indian Asian restaurant goers at least once or twice a week. We are both Vegetarian though not vegan will eat vegan food. We both went for Vegetarian Thali a mixture of authentic dishes served on a platter and chose garlic naan as an accompaniment. The flavours were excellent and complimented each other superbly. The portion sizes were more than adequate and the prices reasonable. It was a Sunday evening and we booked but found only one other table in use when we arrived at 8pm and only one other group came in by the time we left around 9:50pm. We don't like boisterous groups around us but there was absolutely no atmosphere but for us the food made up for it. The drinks costs made up a third of our Seventy pound bill for two people. They will happily adapt a meal to your preference the staff were diligent but appeared tired. I will add it to restaurants worthy of a revisit.

Having just shy of 700 reviews on Google, you'll notice i'm not one for a bad review but the experience I just had in Prince of India deserves exposing. After booking by telephone a week in advance to take advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, we turned up at the reserved time and they didn't have a table prepared for us and the place was already very full (not adhering to Government guidelines) with no station to hand sanitise on arrival and staff with no form of PPE or disinfectant in sight. We were placed in the back corner of the restaurant next to the squeaky kitchen door with the hole in the roof patched up with takeaway lids and brown sellotape. Although happy because it seems there is a table acting as a spacer between us and the next customers table. After 1.5 hours and our starters and drinks are finally placed on the table, the "spacer table" quickly had chairs added to it and another 4 innocent customers get squished into the restaurant. By this point the restaurant was bursting at the sides full of people, so when we requested to move they couldn't accommodate it. Not to mention the fact the takeaway waiting table had now become another eating-in table. It was at this point we became uncomfortable and asked if it was possible to have our mains bagged up so we could eat them at home, this was not possible as the staff decided to walk off mid-conversation with us. At this point we decided we were finished with the antics and wanted to get out, he pleaded us to stay despite expressing to him how uncomfortable we were. Eventually he gave in and allowed me to pay for what we had consumed, not applying the Eat Out to Help Out discount. So we ended up paying full price for starters and soft drinks in a crammed full restaurant, squished in the corner. Perfect birthday meal for our friend's birthday.

I get very frustrated about people who complain about the staff not smiling! One of the things that was drummed into us on our first India trip was that smiling was not usual in their culture. I appreciate that the are in the UK (before some moron mentions it) but if you aren't brought up to smile then it must be difficult. I have to say that we have been going to The Prince of India since it opened and thus are well known but we do not find the facial expressions anything to complain about. We go for the food which we love. These days, being older, we often get a home delivery and the service is excellent. Would highly recommend.

This was our second visit, the first time the service was slowish but bearable, this time it was appalling, we waited 2 hours for the food and had to continually call waiting staff over to remind them of drinks we had ordered. The waiters were polite and apologetic, except for one who was darn right rude, but the wait was made more unbearable due to us being placed next to the largest table in the restaurant which was occupied by a crowd of loud foul mouthed men who were also complaining about the wait! The food was ok when it arrived but none of us were particularly hungry after the wait so there was a lot of waste. We won’t be returning.

We've eaten at Prince of India on several occasions and been very happy with the food and service however our recent visit wasn't one of their best. The staff looked thoroughly miserable, which could've impacted on our party, the food took what seemed to be a lifetime to appear and was served with the same miserable attitude as earlier which is never a good advert for any restaurant! The door was held open for us on the way out by a member of staff without even a glimmer of a smile and clearly lacking any people skills. All very sad really as the food, when it came eventually, was of their usual high quality. I think it's time to find another restaurant for our staff 'meetings', somewhere that appreciates our custom and who can at least give us a smile!

Honestly I'm shocked at how bad this place is. The restaurant itself seemed like a movie set from an 90's Bollywood film (a B rate film at that!). We waited 40 odd minutes for the food and had to send the chicken back as it was still rare! I was expecting them to take that particular meal off the bill- but no such luck. I didn't want to ask! There seemed alot of takeaways going out which might have explained the above. I'd also suggest customer service training for the unfriendly staff as most of them did not want to be at work. Please go to Raj Indian across the road (who was sadly fully booked ....wonder why!)

Very rude staff , We wanted to have advance booking for one of our future arranged party , when we went there it clearly showed open sign on the door , however door was closed and I was able to see from glass door that some one at reception talking on mobile phone who did look towards us came towards the door changed this sign from open to close and went back and did not even look towards us. I knocked the door and requested them to open a door for a second so that we just have quick look of hall and seating capacity BUT very rude behaviour was shown and we had to come back. They lost a customer and we wasted our time and efforts to go there. I understand it could be closed time m however when you have seen some one requesting at least you could speak and let him know that we could come later or they can not show us for different reasons

May be called the prince of India but this deserves a king status. The food is superb. We tried this restaurant on our way back from London but now we make the effort to drive out. Nice cosy atmosphere with lighting perfect for the romance you require on a date. The food is pretty much out of this world and the staff are very friendly. Please take the time to pop in. You won't be disappointed

We took my dad for a birthday meal and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Our waiter was a little bit rude but that can be forgiven as the food was so tasty.Would definitely go back at some point.

Never felt so unwelcome. Restaurant was empty when we arrived and were asked uf we had booked, we said no and the waiter glanced round as if to see if therr was a spare table. Customer service was non existent. Waiter leant across my plate whilst I was still eating to remove an empty rice dish. Tried to remove half finished dishes before we had finished. Food was passable but whole experience left a lot to be desired.

Simply put. The best Curry in Buckingham and Winslow. I've eaten curry all over North Bucks and beyond and this is hands down the best.
