Desire in Aylesbury Vale

Has closed down - rather suddenly - as of Monday 18th March 2024. Former customers were informed by SMS. Apparently it is being replaced with an Afghani restaurant. Hopefully helpful information for someone.

Ordered takeaway from this place. Food was tasteless. Ended up throwing most of it.Attached picture of one of the dishes that was nowhere close to what it claimed to be.

Food was good, served hot except the onion bahji which felt like it had been on the side for a while. Curries always take fresh and flavourful.

The best Indian food in Aylesbury. Always guaranteed great service and great food 👌

Pre ordered mid afternoon for delivery about 7pm,but turned up at just after 6.15pm,which was not ideal as my brother was not going to be here for another 30 mins,hence the time request of 7pm.

So, so disappointing. Been eating here for years so booked a birthday meal for me and my wife. Turned up on time and there was no table. Why bother taking a booking you can't fulfil?

Great quality and quick delivery.

Very average place. One pot wonders, sauces are similar in colour for most of there dishes.

Very impressed. The food was all brilliant. Spice levels bang-on. Good service. And housed in a lovely building. But that worn out grubby carpet on the stairs really lets it down.

Absolutely amazing food I came with a group of 8 friends and they kept us topped up on drinks and couldn't do enough for us, we will definitely be going back all 5 stars.

Not sure if they have changed there chef but I have alaways had the Duck Jalfrezi and loved it but last couple of times it’s disappointed as not spicy enough and has different flavour which my son agreed with! But otherwise was really nice

We have been looking for an Indian restaurant in Aylesbury after moving from London and we have found one. Food was authentic and tasty compared to another Indian restaurant I had ordered from. I will certainly be ordering from Desire again. Thank you guys.

It was 10 minutes late but i have no problem with this as its such a great restaurant

Worst food we've ever had! Never in my life have I tasted a super sweet matar paneer in a coconut based gravy! Paneer tikka starter was even worse, rubbery and salty. Only the papadom was decent. Waste of money. Will never recommend this to anyone.

We wanted to order a take away (as a special treat tonight). Unfortunately the food was absolutely tasteless and we really regretted ordering it this evening. Such a shame as we used to enjoy our Indian takeaways from this place!

Considering it came from the other side of town, it was still lovely and warm. A really delicious meal!

Not only was the food excellent (Chicken Korma & Chicken Tikka Masala with rice, bhajis and naans), but they also threw in some poppadums for us which were fab. Best part of it all, was it was Sunday night when we ordered, and we'd run out of bin bags (unrelated issue) and the shops were shut. So I left them a message in the delivery notes to say if they happened to have any spare we'd love it if they threw one in for us... and they did!! What great sports. Love that - went over and above to provide excellent customer service, made our evening and left us with a story to tell. We will absolutely be going back to eat in or get takeaway, and we highly recommend them!

Food extremely dissapointing. Not authentic, very sweet and artificial taste. On papdum and mango lassi were ok

Paneer Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer was too sweet :( Maybe have more spicier options next time!

Usually love the food from here but unfortunately the last two times haven’t been great. We could have gone swimming in the oil sat on top, couldn’t even mix it in there was that much. Have you changed chef?

A little bit oily tonight. Especially the veg curry which went with the chicken biryani. But still good.

Probably the best curry I’ve had in Aylesbury and was right on time.

Nice, but ordered a Juliette which has both lamb and chicken, but what we received was devoid of lamb! Shame, really, as the rest of the order was good

2 of us ate here on a Friday night. Quick service, friendly staff and reasonably priced.

Bland with not much heat, had to get the tabasco out. Quality low in the starter, shrimps and not prawns and again bland and oily.

I can't believe I've never ordered from Desire before. I'm pleased I did! Such flavourful, delicious food. The madras was thick, spicy and full of meat. I'm pleased I have leftovers! Highly recommend! ❤️

Desire never fail to deliver. Their Biryani is superb. Excellent restaurant run by some lovely people. Our favourite in Aylesbury by a country mile

There was no poppadoms tonight.

Food was lovely but we used to always get a couple popadoms in as we’ve been ordering from desire for many years. None tonight or the last couple of orders. Spent £35 and would like to see some popadoms put in as a gesture. Especially when the prices have gone up so considerably.

Food is good but never get the take away order right Use bengal blue they get it right every time

Wrong rice delivered, pool of water formed on plate from rice onion bhaji dry / stale ordered Bhuna & madras both looked at exactly the same in colour and taste except for hotness very poor won’t get my custom again !

I just want to say as a Chef of 45+ years and a curry eater for all of them this was by far the best curry i have eaten and Max our waiter was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble. THANK YOU DESIRE ❤️

Horrible place service don't go there rotten place. Staff have a hygiene problem the place is in a hot mess had an upset stomach as after eating their food save your stomach and a night in the bathroom your better eating in the feathers this place should be called undesirable.

Very flavoursome, best Indian in town in my opinion. One item was missing today (which is a first) but they replaced it super quickly and we also got some free poppadoms. Highly recommend.

I keep trying other curry houses and then coming back to this one. We normally get a delivery or eat in sometimes. Got a take away and collected and every single dish was faultless and plenty of it… we won’t go anywhere else!

Always delicious, hot and on time. It was even early this time, but I do live very close to the restaurant so that’s only a good thing. Never have an issue when ordering from desire.

Pre-ordered our food...received a notification to say it would be 20mins late and ended up 1hr. No apologies when it arrived late either. Food was brilliant as always though albeit a bit cold.

Haven’t ordered from here for a while.. but as usual the service was brilliant and delivered with a smile. Other than the chicken in the Korma being a little dry.. it was a nice meal

The most delicious food served by attentive and friendly staff. Ample sized portions with locally sourced products. The decor is stunning. Absolutely our ‘go to’ restaurant for special occasions.

We've been getting our Indian food from Desire for quite a few years. This order, as always, was top notch. Really friendly staff, and the most beautiful Indian food, bar none.

We have used desire for many years but tonight’s take away was very disappointing, food was cold, meat dry and the jalfrezi was to hot to eat. Won’t be using again ☹️

Disappointing food, usually really good from desire but one of the worst curries I’ve had in a long time, little to no flavour, sweet and sour instead of mango chutney. Popadoms awful could roll it up bends without snapping, Dry awful chapati too. Won’t be using them again

I haven't used this restaurant before but I am definitely returning and would recommend. It was absolutely delicious and I liked it had some writing under it with a small explanation of flavours so I can try various ones. I have had some weird and wonderful dishes from many places but not here - food was great, it was on time within the slot (earlier part of the slot) and was so freshly cooked! The lamb fell to pieces as I ate it which was perfect!! 5** from us'

Extremely disappointing! We had a delivery from here on the 28th of August. We are regular customers but this time it was unbelievably bad. We wrote to them to complain but got no response. That's what they think of their regular customers. My email to them is below.. "Hello we’ve just had a delivery from you and I have to say we are so disappointed. We eat in your restaurant often and have regular deliveries at least every two weeks. Attached is a photo of a pot of excess ghee which I poured off the king prawn patia and chicken tikka dansak. Which I consider too much! I paid for cheese and garlic Nan which was disappointingly soggy and lacking cheese. The stuffed paratha was burnt! Prawn patia. Apart from ghee, lacked any flavour. The sauce was thin and neither hot, sweet or sour. At approx £35 this is not acceptable I look forward to your comments."

Really lovely Indian. So tasty. Ive ordered here many times. Only downside is take-away portions can sometimes be small and not have many pieces of meat.

Absolutely superb! Great service, clean well presented restaurant. Max was our server, he made the experience of having a curry fun. The food was top notch. Fantastic well balanced flavours made from obviously fresh produce. The best Balti I've had in a very long time. Ill definitely be back.
