Primitivo in Birmingham

Great food reasonably priced for the location.

Came for a retirement celebration. It was very full and difficult to get a drink. As the bar is longhand narrow due to the two rooms it became very full very quickly and almost uncomfortable. The food would have been better being put out on a table rather than being taken round on platters, as some of it was difficult to eat without a plate. All the food was delicious, staff were accomodating if not a little overwhlemed at times. Maybe too small to have a function room as half of the bar itself?

Gran ubicación, a segundos de la estación de Snow Hill. Es un lugar acogedor encantador con un gran ambiente. Teníamos una botella de casa primitivo rojo y para nuestra comida teníamos filete y pinchos de pollo que era 10 / 10. Los propietarios son muy atentos y acogedores. Recomiendo 100%.

Excellent choice of food types to suit all needs - really nice. Love that in addition to great food / drink and great staff, that the venue had a 5 star Licensing SAVI security and safety rating which shows their commitment to customer safety - well done !!

Desde hace 2 años seguidos nuestro equipo ha tenido su celebración festiva a finales de enero y cada vez hemos tenido un servicio tan amable y profesional. Las porciones de comida son tan generosas y la calidad de la comida es simplemente perfecta. El ambiente era perfecto y creaba un ambiente cómodo, agradable y relajado. Tener la habitación privada nos dio el espacio para tener un trabajo realmente encantador. El personal es muy amable y atento. Recomendaría este lugar 100%. Trabajador, gente amable y en general fantástico valor y calidad. Gracias. También fantástica ubicación para viajar, como a pocos minutos de Snow Hill para los trenes y a pocos minutos de Colmore Row para autobuses y servicio de taxi es mucho más fácil como fuera del camino de las zonas más concurridas

Llegamos a tomar unas copas antes de nuestro almuerzo y fuimos cálidamente recibidos por el personal del bar muy amable. Se compraron bebidas a nuestra mesa en el bar. La selección para el almuerzo fue variada y todos disfrutamos mucho de nuestra comida. El servicio fue excepcionalmente amable y muy eficiente, lo que añadió aún más a nuestra experiencia. Recomendamos encarecidamente una visita a este establecimiento.

Tasty food, but a little over priced.

Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra visita a este restaurante de primera categoría. Era nuestra primera vez aquí, y visitamos durante Birmingham Restaurant Festival. El servicio era amable y eficiente, la comida era excelente, y el lugar tiene un ambiente encantador. Sabemos que volveremos de nuevo en el futuro para probar el menú regular.

Excelente servicio y ambiente! Georgia y Lucy fueron anfitriones fabulosos de principio a fin. Asistimos como parte del Birmingham Restaurant festival - nunca he estado aquí antes, pero el menú sonaba muy bien, así que le dio una oportunidad. El lugar era precioso, limpio, ventilado y tenía un buen nivel de música de fondo. Como se mencionó las camareras eran excelentes y realmente hizo nuestra experiencia más placentera. Tuve las gambas tempura, risotto de cangrejo (una necesidad) seguido de un increíble pastel de queso de arándano! Uno de los mejores postres que he probado en mucho tiempo. El ravioli de calabaza no era el mejor que había probado, sin embargo, el personal estaba feliz de rectificar esto sin problemas y profesionalmente. La selección de vinos era maravillosa y fácilmente podríamos haber pasado más horas allí si no fuera un día de semana. Sin duda recomiendo!

Fui a ponerme al día y charlar con la familia. La comida era inesperadamente gratificante y las bebidas eran deliciosas. El personal era muy amable y cálido, lo que contribuyó a un ambiente agradable. Bien vale la pena la visita y el tiempo dedicado.

Pero lo que realmente hizo este lugar, fue el personal Lucy y Georgia - el paquete perfecto. Bebidas en el punto cubierto por Lucy. Y el servicio de comida era excelente desde Georgia. Ate here as part of Birmingham Restaurant Festival. Starters and mains were both delightful with generous portions. Desserts were slightly lackluster- crème brûlée was more of a mousse which was odd and the cheese cake's texture was a bit off. Drinks were reasonably priced with a good wine list and service was great the entire evening- thank you Georgia for looking after us, we had a good time and will come back again

We have been regulars since Primitivo opened but have not been for a while so we were delighted that the food was as good as ever and the service from the waitress Pippa was friendly and welcoming

Amazing food, and an excellent choice of wines. Definitely recommend the Chicken and chorizo skewers. Considering it was a Wednesday evening and mostly an after work affair. This unique venue, was busy. On this occasion was mostly business/suited people, however I was dressed casually and all was good. The waitress Georgette and of cause wonderful staff were all extremely impressive. Great venue, a pleased menu to accommodate all tastes, great location, and more importantly a relaxing environment / experience overall. Definitely be returning. 😃 Enjoy.

Great ambience. This is a great place for a business meeting. The staff are fantastic, particularly Amelia, who manages to remember what you ate and drank during your last visit. Food is always yummy

The food was fresh, tasty and looked appetising. It was well presented, salads were dressed lightly and thoroughly, vegetables soft but still had bite. Dishes came with garnishes of grilled lemon, appropriate sauces. The belly pork was very tender and the chicken skewers cooked through. Portions were generous but not overwhelming. It definitely was not ‘messed about’ food but as the chef said unpretentious. It was just how a dinner in a restaurant should be. The staff were efficient, friendly and obliging.

This wonderful venue never disappoints its just a gem of a place, excellent professional service, wonderful food and complimented by Georgia who just makes the place.

First time visit here and we were impressed. The decor of the premises was bright, clean and cheerful. Staff were friendly and polite at all times even offering to take our coats and placing our shopping in a safe room. The menu was varied and with plenty of choice and we enjoyed our meal, well done to the chef's. We stayed a little longer to try a cocktail and it made for a really lovely experience. Thanks to all staff at Primitivo and we will be back for more spoiling next time we are in Birmingham.

WOW... what a gem this place is, a recent visit to the bar ,was an extremely satisfying experience for my taste in atmosphere, this place just keeps on giving, a follow up visit allowed time to sample the restaurant/food,absolutely wonderful quality food. Complimented with the most friendly and professional service ,all headed up by a wonderful Manager whose attention to detail is an absolute credit to this venue, nothing is too much trouble, she's excellent at her job , can't wait to return

Lovely place - very friendly staff and all the food was gorgeous. Not one complaint from 13 diners! We booked 2 weeks in advance for an early lunch of 13 - very good communication throughout and a private room; which was lovely. We arrived 30 mins early but were welcomed and very well accommodated.

This place is great for after work drinks 🍸 We'll go again, but probably on a Saturday to see if it's a little bit quieter. The staff were amazing, the chef was forgiving and the food was outstanding 👌 Thanks for a really great dinning experience and such wonderful service

We had a delicious dinner, thank you! Amelia our waitress gave us the best customer service experience we've had anywhere for years, and the owner came over to speak to us too. There was a special dessert for pancake day which we loved. We were very impressed all round, and would highly recommend it! The real ale was very well kept.

Primitivo, a classy ,quiet bar / restaurant located discretely around the snow hill / colmore row area of the city centre.. fancied a chilled quiet time with a couple of drinks and this venue completed my requirements COMPLETELY .Complimented by an excellent professional and friendly service ( sorry didn't get the young ladies name ) but she was a real asset to the venue. Can't wait to return and include food next time 😋

We had our post-Christmas works do here and from the initial communications of booking and organising the event, the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive to detail. The location was perfect for all to attend and being in close proximity to varying transport options. The night itself was a hit with our big group of 19. The staff extended their kind natured, and helpful approach into this evening and were so attentive. They were even able to accommodate a last minute addition. Everyone said how delicious the food was, with incredibly generous portions. We had such a lovely evening and being able to be in a room separate to the bar itself made it such an enjoyable and more private experience for us to be able to catch up outside of work properly. Really cannot rate this place high enough. I will be dreaming of that brie and onion tartlet and the sticky toffee pudding until we next book with you :) Thank you to all

I chose Primitivo for my 60th birthday lunch. Prit & her colleagues were very helpful before during the event. The food was lovely. I would highly recommend Primitivo .

I had a big birthday and chose Primatevo to celebrate it. Primatevo is a great restaurant bar Mon to Fri but Saturdays it is available for private hire. Pritt and her team sorted everything for me and were very professional and easy to deal with. I had 5 bar staff on the night and 2 bouncers and they were all just fabulous. I did my own playlist played through their system and we partied till past 2am. I had the best time and would highly recommend this venue for any function. It is a beautiful, immaculate venue with probably the bedt staff in Birmingham.

Work Party for 55 Team at venue were communicative. Venue ready on time. A Thursday night Christmas Party for our company, the Prim team were good from the start. Drinks served well and all our staff had a good time. We brought a DJ - in fairness, the venue has loud enough sound system you could get away with not hiring one, but it worked well for the party. Food was a buffet and good enough, serviced on time etc. facilities itself are smart yet casual. Would go back again.

Had our son’s 21st Birthday party here last night. From the start of the booking all the way through to the event itself Preet and her team did an amazing job. On the night bar manager Wictoria met all of our needs and went beyond to make it the most perfect evening. I would definitely recommend booking this venue for a special event.

Excellent servers, friendly and always up for a chat with locals. Bring round really good snacks whilst you drink and good drink choices.

Dined here: Friday , August 18 for 6 guests while they were doing the Birmingham Restaurant Festival ! I have booked here last year during the Birmingham restaurant festival was on but unfortunately, they cancelled my reservation very last minute due to unexpected kitchen issue. The staff who called me up was sincerely sorry about cancellation my reservation and stated if we was to dine here again - we would get a free drink! Surprisingly, the staff had remembered when I have made a reservation for this year and so we was given a free drink for all guests ! Staff was very friendly on the night and the food came out reasonable fast. Well presented and filling! Would dine here again to try other stuff on the menu ! Opted for the 3 course: - Starter: Vegetable fritters - Main: Three mustard chicken - Dessert: Chocolate Tart

Hired out for a private party and the service was amazing. Over a 100 people, no one ever waiting long at the bar, great music system, amazing layout, great drinks and lovely host.

Things just got better! Primitivo is like an Old Friend who you know but hope is OK. Popped in, because I had not been there for sometime. The Sfaff have changed, but still as Good, if not better and more attentive…. Same GVFM reputation, serving lovely home cooked food with a wine list to Die for. Welcoming friendly bar staff who can’t do enough to look after you. They ensure you don’t have an empty glass whilst the food is simple and good quality

I'm a regular visitor to Prims. The front of house team, in particular Victoria, Georgie and Charlie, are exceptional. They look always make us feel welcome. The best I can say is that, despite no longer working in Birmingham, I try to get into town & Prims, regularly and consider this to be my local!

Visited Birmingham for a business meeting and had a 5 star experience at Primitivo the food was amazing with a great choice and such friendly staff I wish we had a Primitivo in Manchester

5 of us dropped in for lunch today and whilst we hadn't booked, a table was found. After a few minutes wait we were given menus and orders placed. Unfortunately it took an hour for our food to arrive and frustratingly we could see it on the pass waiting to be served for a good 5 minutes so was not very hot. I ordered the fish and chips. The batter was inedible being undercooked and stodgy. I had to twice ask for vinegar and ketchup. By the time the condiments arrived we were mostly finished eating. I informed the waitress that the fish was very stodgy and not nice and whilst she said she would inform the chef, there was no attempt to either exchange it or refund me. Another waitress behind the bar by way of appeasement, informed us that we hadn't booked and the booked tables got priority over us. I have never had such an appalling treatment and bias before. We were paying the same prices as the booked tables so it is ludicrous to suggest we would have to expect and accept inferior service. She did offer us free drinks on a return visit. That is easy to offer as we will never return. She then said we could have them now but as we were already late back to work we declined as we had already been there for over 1.5 hours. I appreciate when busy service can be slow but the food was definitely not worth waiting for and service was bordering on bizarre. I wouldn't return and would not recommend.

The service here is top notch with everybody being very attentive. I have eaten here often and the food is also very good. Probably the go to restaurant in the Birmingham business quarter.

Was here recently with my girlfriend and I have to say it was a pleasure. A friend recommended it and didn't say much but tbf the food was lush! I had the smoke Haddock cake and it was phenomenal. I couldn't advise it enough. Beautiful ingredients and decor was such a lovely touch. The staff were so warm and welcoming. Deffo attending again when I'm in Birmingham

During our stay in Birmingham, we discovered this hidden gem recommended on TripAdvisor. The food was phenomenal and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly, and the ambiance had a chill vibe. My burger was delicious, and my girlfriend's steak was perfectly cooked to her liking....

Nice wine selection, I try Primitivo Italian red wine which is fruity and dry with full bodied, nice berry nose.

Enjoyed a late lunch as a group of friends. Staff were professional, friendly and efficient. The goats cheese salad and gambas pil pil were amazing! Portions on small plates were great for a late lunch. Couldn’t finish parmesan and garlic fries - very tasty but...

Great atmosphere with a very classy sleek aesthetic and wonderful service. I must especially mention two servers with impeccable quality, both in the way they present/serve the drinks but also the manner of conversation and attention to each customer. Georgia and Charley are excellent in poise yet craftsmanship with cocktails. The service they provide is yet quick and memorable. I would definitely recommend this establishment and the these service members.

Lovely meal, very very helpful staff. Good gluten free selection which is very important in our case. Charlie was a star when assisting us.

We hadn’t booked so were lucky to get the last table for a light lunch. The food ( off the sandwich menu) was good and the wine, chosen by our waitress Charley, was just perfect. Charley was super attentive and a real pleasure to talk...

Tucked away a bit but worth finding. Lunch was really good, friendly staff and great service . We sat by the Pass and all the food looked good.

Nice restaurant but not somewhere to take people with any sort of dietary requirements. No vegan options AT ALL on the menu so I literally didn’t eat a bite whilst the rest of our table had dinner. Also a very limited alcohol free offering. Pretty poor for those who are pregnant, driving or just trying to moderate but still want the experience. In this day and age I’d have thought vegan food and non alcoholic drinks would be available everywhere, so such a shame Primitivo doesn’t do their bit.

Fantastic food and service. Would definitely recommend. We sat by the pass and all the food being served looked amazing.

Worst restaurant iv been to in Birmingham

My first ever visit to have lunch with an old friend and we will be back. Enthusiastic and friendly young staff serving good food and drinks. Excellent red wine with my haddock etc really good, whilst my friend was very pleased with his lamb chops....

Dropped into Prims for lunch the other day. It was great as usual. Tasty specials to compliment the menu. Outstanding attentive service. Excellent wines. Great Value. Nothing could be better !

Nice lunch venue, good food, with a varied menu, pleasant front of house to ensure your dining experience was good, lovely wines etc to chose from. And the chef took time to ensure everything was right once wed finished and keen for direct feed back. Over all a well priced and very reasonable venue, definitely be back there as the occasion arrises.

Work dinner. Staff were very helpful especially when planning the evening. Meal was very good although stuffing balls turned out a bit hard. Fun atmosphere, a good night.

Came here for a Christmas do. Food portion sizes were good, had smoked salmon starter, beef bourginone and cheesecake. They take cash but had no change which was strange.

Upon first encounter with primitivo & there staff , i thought i was in for a treat with the minimilistic look. Got the the food and dining and the primitivo ‘hype’ i was COMPLETELY LET DOWN. The caesar salad start and lamb kofta main both tasted like they had been bought from tesco. NOT EVEN TESCO STANDARD. I 100% do not recommend listening to the hype i wouldnt be surprised if the rest of these reviews are fake accounts made by primitivo.

I had my 30th birthday party here and it was fab. The service, food and communication between I and the venue beforehand was second to none. If you're looking for a place to host a party I would highly recommend Primitivo. Thanks so much team!

Called for business lunch and service and food were excellent. Waiting staff were friendly and really pleasant contemporary decor with a good atmosphere. Burger on special was fab. Will definitely call again!

The next day, same thing, BUT it LOIKED as if it was NIGHTIME, AFTER WORK-time, as you can see, and I spent two hours doing what I consider an excellent use of time at night:watching people enjoying themselves. What are they talking about, I wonder? -

After been let down by the grand hotel nearby we ventured out and found this little gem, the two waitresses that served us were fantastic, they turned our day around with the service along with the excellent food, the restaurant was modern and a pleasure to have a meal there. We ordered dessert and they didn't have the double cream but went out it their way to go and buy some nearby. All the staff were young and showed how a restaurant should be run. Thanks guys !!!

The service from Marco was 5 star. Great atmosphere. So nice to be back out. Lobster pasta was delicious and recommend the panzanella salad for starter. We’ll be back!

Mis amigos y yo visitamos regularmente para tomar una copa y picar algo. El servicio siempre es excelente (nos encanta especialmente la gerente, siempre es muy amable y recuerda los pequeños detalles que hacen que nuestras visitas sean personales) y la selección de vinos y cavas es excelente. Un lugar encantador y práctico en la ciudad y ahora con una nueva área al aire libre, segura para Covid, nos encanta aún más. Siempre vale la pena una visita
