We have been visiting this restaurant now for 30 years, well it started just as take away Once it became a restaurant, it became an our go to for events. The service and food has always been excellent, well we wouldn’t be using it for 30 years. We love the Rashmi kebabs for a starter. Have had virtually all the main dishes and can honestly say, never had bad one. The staff are brilliant. Look forward to many more Indian meals here.

To be honest we've visited this place a couple of times in the past and had no complaints, but Saturday was a different ball game, first confusion about our booking and what table we were on, then when our drinks arrived the Cobra had a funny taste as if it was watered down some how or gone off as in a sealed bottle, then the waiter took our order and we waited 40 minutes for our food to arrive, people who came in after us got their food first, think we'll give this place a miss for a while till they get their act together.

We went to this restaurant last night and I can honestly say, we've tried a lot of restaurants in the area, royal kitchen, jalsha, oval brasserie, moghul.. but this was the nicest Indian food we've ever had. Great selection of poppadom chutneys, the best prawn puri starter we have ever had , main meal fantastic. Service absolutely brilliant. Will definitely make this out local from now on. Highly recommend

Ordered a Madras take away, The food was a small portion, placed in the small foil containers. Madras was not spicy at all and is obviously catered for people who cannot handle spicy food. Barely any salt. Salad and rice was ok. Not what I like so won’t be returning.

I ate here for the first time yesterday evening. It's a nice clean restuarant with friendly, efficient staff. The dips that came with the poppadums were good and there was plenty there. I had a mixed platter for starter which was very nice and was the biggest starter I've ever recieved in an Indian restaurant. My mate had sheek kebab for starter and again it was great, twice the size of what I've seen in other Indians. The main meals were tasty and the price was fair. I will definitely visit this restuarant again soon. Thanks for a great meal

Grest atmosphere when esting inside thos restraunt but got a takeaway and ordered extra poppadoms incase there wasnt any included and no sauces included 😂 why would i order plain poppadoms maybe times have changed not only that i got a vindaloo which is the least spicy vindaloo ive had in a long time the keema naan had barley any meat inside of it the portions were small unless youre going for a nice meal out with the family i wouldn't reccomend theres another indian restrsunt about a minute away which is far superior.

Great local business, top banter with the owner and waiter who were both very accommodating. Not a great spot for vegetarians. However, they do a £14 Vegetable meal which consists of a few separate dishes (potato , chickpea curry, Onion Bhaji), with a gorgeous Paratha. Excellent value. My four other housemates were all very satisfied which is a great sign. Will certainly be visiting again!

We had a takeaway on a Sunday night bought by my brother in law which was disgusting and also very embarrassing. The prawn Dansak had a least 3 prawns in it the chicken garlic dish came as lamb which I hate. The onion bhajis were yesterdays ones and the poppadoms were stale. We will not be using this takeaway again very disappointed.

This was our first visit to a restaurant since lockdown was eased. We were weary about going, but I had checked the week before and they have put plastic screens up between each table. We sat at our table and were given paper menus. There was actually more choices on the menu. We both had the Reshmi kebabs, which were as good as before lockdown. Our mains were Chicken Shashlic and Chicken Saagwala with side dishes and naan breads. All tasted excellent. The only thing I noticed, I thought the portions were slightly smaller then before lockdown. I noticed from reading some other reviews about the decor. They are in the process of updating this. Did I feel safe in the restaurant. Yes I did and will be back soon

Came here on a Friday night for a curry with my dad. Inside it’s very old fashioned, just like the curry houses in the old days, it’s dimly lit with a nice ambience inside. Stopped by for a quick meal with friends having not been here for a while. Service was decent and food good. I had a lamb chilli dish done to vindaloo hot and it was really good. All the others enjoyed their meals too and everything was delivered freshly cooked and piping hot I only have two areas of question about the Pride of India Firstly the wine list is very basic. I’d been warned off the House White by a fellow diner who said they’d had it before and it wasn’t good. This left only a couple of options, Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay- neither of which we like so we were only left with the £23 Chablis as an option. They should have a moderately priced Sauvignon Blanc option too, but they don’t. Secondly, the toilet (obviously, I only went to the Gents) was in pretty poor condition as you can see from these photos. The hand dryer wasn’t working so I mentioned it to the staff, who told me it needed to be switched on at the switch (high above the sink) which I did. It does make me think that it hadn’t been used in a while though, not a nice thought. I’d eat there again but would like to see the quality of the bathroom improve

When we moved to Sidcup, we had to find a local Indian. When we first went to the Pride it was just a take way, taking up what is the front row of tables now for it's serving area. What a change there has been over that time, as it's now a full restaurant. I have been there on my own, with my wife, group of four like last night and groups of twenty plus because of cricket club meals. They even picked me up once to take me to the restaurant, now that is what I call service. The original owners have gone, but the owner has been there for what seems a life time.We have seen waiters come and go, but overall the restaurant hasn't changed regarding the service or the food. I have had most items on the menu and I certainly say I haven't had a bad meal and I can be awkward customer.Last night was no different, we had booked, went in a group of four with friends and was warmly greeted as always, even our friends who hadn't been to this restaurant for a few years.Again the food was wonderful, I had a shashlik, which the lady did too, and she said she hasn't had that amount of chicken pieces before. I said there should be more lol.I will always recommend this Indian to anyone. The food is excellent and you can never beat good customer service, even when it's busy, as it was last night for sit in and take away.

Local to the restaurant & never been here. Booked about an hour and a half in advance & had no problems getting a table for 2 at 8:30 pm. When we arrived there was at least 6 tables eating so there was a decent atmosphere bearing in mind the place is not huge. Menu had a good choice and is reasonably priced. We ordered a beer & diet coke & popadoms & dips were lovely. Mains came up hot & were tasty. Only gripe was the peshwari was shown on the menu as having raisins and I even asked the waiter if they would be in the bread as often you don't get this & when the bread arrived there were none. I didn't complain as we didn't want our food to get cold waiting for anymore but on reflection I should have said something afterwards. The Restaurant had a very traditional feel, not modern at all like many Indian restaurants these days & played Indian Music which was nice. Would definitely go back or order a takeaway.

The Pride of India is a rare place indeed. An Indian that is just how you expect, and would like, an Indian restaurant to be. Not pretentious, cold and overly modern but quite small, warm, inviting and very friendly. The range of dishes on the menu isn't exactly huge (sometimes a blessing) but there's plenty of variety and all the dishes I tried were excellent. We were never rushed by the waiting staff and even when we had finished our meal and paid the bill, were allowed to sit and chat until we decided to leave. Will I be going back? Most definitely. I have been coming here for a few years now, it's certainly one of the best in the area.Charming staff, food is always very good, staff are always attentive, and they often bring out tasters, which we haven't ordered for us to try, and ask us to comment on.My only reason for not giving it a 5*, is that when ordering take-a-ways or deliveries, there is often something wrong, it might be I've ordered a lamb tikka, but receive a chicken tikka, or order a madras with green chilli, but the chilli is left out. Silly little things, like a salad with a tikka might be missing, or an onion salad might be missing. But a quick phonecall, and they will always make amends the next time, or take the price off the next bill, or send another delivery, if you can wait, so I'm not too troubled by this, as the food is really very good, and very reasonably priced to boot.
