Pride Of Bridlington in East Riding of Yorkshire

As a regular for years, it pains me to say that my experience last night was highly disappointing. Upon ordering, I was shocked to find that the portion sizes of chips were notably smaller than usual. In fact, the small portion contained an alarmingly small number of chips, barely filling a child-sized box. To my disbelief, the large sausage and chip meals were even more scantily accompanied by chips. Additionally, despite paying for an extra portion of chips, it was missing from my order upon returning home. Furthermore, I discovered that a drink was missing from the children's meal, which further compounded the dissatisfaction of my family's dining experience. Considering the nearly £30 expenditure for our meal, I cannot help but feel that we were grossly overcharged for the quantity and quality of food received. As a long-time customer, I have always appreciated the consistent quality and service provided by your establishment. However, based on this recent experience, I regret to inform you that we will not be returning. I hope you take this feedback constructively and consider reassessing portion sizes and service standards to maintain the loyalty of your customers.

Visited twice this week as the fish is simply the nicest chip shop fish I think I've ever had. And the chips are pretty scrummy too. The guys serving are lovely, really friendly & chatty. All in all a top chippy.

FANTASTIC fish and chips. Batter cooked to perfection, Fast service. Can sit outside on benches, awnings at front in case it’s raining.

The fish wasn't very good, haddock is supposed to be a white fish ours certainly wasn't. It was a bit greasy as well, not really very good

All food was absolutely quality. Cooked freshly and tasted amazing. We had large chips, scampi, battered sausage, cod and obviously curry sauce with mushy peas. Fab staff, will visit again.

We recently moved to Bridlington and noticed Pride of Bridlington when driving in. Really good lunch today - Large Haddock, Scampi and chips all excellent - generous portions, freshly cooked. Efficient, safe and friendly service too - and only 5 minutes walk - we have found our NEW local take-away. Thank you.

visited here on a sunday dinner time as fancied a change from usual gravy dinners. expected it to be busy but found the place quiet, no ques initially. shop is clean and staff pleasent, friendly and professional. paid for cod and chips 4 times with a tub of mushy peas and curry sauce, which came to just over 30 quid so not exactly cheap however the quality and size of portions made up for that. the whole meal was delicious and we would highly recommend a visit.

We Were on our way to Flamborough and craving fish and chips. Called at Pride of Bridlington for fish chips and peas.Cooked to order,batter was crispy,chips were tasty peas were proper mushy.Yum.Utterly delicious!!! They observed social distancing and hygiene rules to the letter.Polite and accommodating.

Used to go to Pride of Brid regularly, on Bank Holiday Monday decided to go there rather than cook myself. I really looked forward to Cod and Chips, what a disappointment, soggy batter, luke warm chips and expensive to boot. It might have been a one of but I won't be trying again, a certain similar establishment which I won't name but is near Priory Church is far superior and whats more cheaper.

Excellent flow of customers in and out of the fish and chip shop. Didn't have to wait too long although there was a queue forming by the the time we left.

Not a big queue was seen to in a couple of mins and asked to wait 10 mins so paid but decided enough is enough. One customer who had waited after me asked if they were still out catching the fish.

Delicious. Thin, crispy batter surrounding succulent, flaky fish. The chips were good too. My Grandaugter had chicken nuggets which she said were better than McDonalds. Will return when we are next in Bridlington.

After a long day in brid, we decided to grab a chippy tea on the way out of town rather than be harassed by the gulls. We went to 1 chippy, but Q was huge. Went to another, and it had just closed. Then last attempt, we tried Pride of Bridlington. Defo worth the wait, and the trailing round - ***Beaut chips, perfect fish bites, fab sausages, kids meals ideal, boxed conveniently, friendly staff, very reasonable prices, and no queue!!*** Will be heading here first on our next trip.

Had 2 x fish and chips to take home about 5-6 minutes away and when we got back and unwrapped they had been wrapped tight so all the wet batter just stuck to the paper and the chips stuck as well. It didn't look very appetizing and certainly when I tried them it wasn't.

Travel to this Chippie roughly every three weeks with a friend who is a connoisseur of good fish and chips. When I say "travel" we live approximately 25 miles from Bridlington. Well worth the journey, the quality standard never falters, quality sea-side fish and chips every time. Portions are generous and good value. Nice friendly staff,

Had a large Cod and a small chips and nothing wrong with the way it was cooked but the fish was not what I would call large and it was a bit expensive by Bridlington standers ..

I have just finished my fish and chips at home that was bought from this chippy and reflected upon the fact that we have been using this chip shop for over 10 years now. Even after moving to the other side of town we now travel past other chippy’s to get to this one..., because the food is always fresh, tasty and satisfying. Why go elsewhere? The shop is clean (it’s got a 5* Food Hygiene Rating) and the staff are always friendly.

fish is allways fried to order, may have a wait but the quality is excelent as are the staff, one of the best at the coast

Paid over £9 for fish and chips and gravy was told it was a Extra Large Fish but it did not seem like large portion to me. We normally go to XL as they are much better but closed on a Sunday and maybe next time will go to the one on Brett Street.

Once again you have surpassed yourselves, everytime we visit the east coast for a little holiday, my husband insists that we visit the shop as he loves your fish and chips and even on this occasion the dog had a large sausage and she totally enjoyed it.

Nice food but a little over priced. Due to the fact that across the road, you get double the portion for less cost. However its clean. Staff are polite and food is tasty

I and my friend decided to have some fish & chips the other night so I went to Pride of Bridlington. I’d been told that they where the best fish & chips in Bridlington and that the had won some top prizes. Well in my opinion the judges must have lost there taste buds they where terrible. The fish was hard as if it hadn’t been defrosted properly the batter on the fish was soggy and the taste I can’t describe the taste it was terrible. The chips where golden brown just like I like them. But they where soggy and where stuck to the paper and they had the same terrible taste as the fish they finished up in the bin. The price of small fish &chips; is ridiculous. We certainly wont be going to that fish chop again.

My wife and I went there a few days ago and got 2 large haddock and chips with scraps they were very nice and big portions at a decent price the fish was spot on would go there again

We went to Bridlington for the day , and got fish chips and peas twice. We stopped to eat them in the car, the chips were swimming in grease , batter on fish soggy and stuck to the paper, even the peas were tasteless.

Called in by of chance and was pleased I had. Very polite and helpful staff and really clean inside. Ordered the large fish and chips with scraps and mushy peas. The fish was fresh and really large in fact big enough for two , the young man soon had it wrapped up and I was on my way home. When I got home I had it on my plate and realised I’d ordered to much again but for the price I wasn’t complaining. The fish was well cooked all the way through, chips were as good as could be expected and the peas didn’t let them down plus plenty of Crispy scraps. All in all one of the best if not the best in bridlington. Keep up the good work and many thanks

Driving the streets of a seaside trying to find a chippy on a Monday is hard enough,you would be surprised how many closed!!,I know its November but you gotta be open to sell.Anyway thank the lord they where all closed because we found what is by far the tastiest,friendliest ever.The two young ladies where smiling,happy and helpful,great prices to match and chip n pin!!!What took me most was a lady who came in after us ordered for a family of 4/5,now the fish tail broke off from one fish,the two young ladies asked if they should cook again,what service that is.........

Great fish and chips. All the fish cooked fresh so there is always a wait.Just phone your order ahead to get round that.My go to chip shop when in brid.

Fish cooked to order, but done so quickly that the inside of the batter was not properly cooked, and as I was given a medium and a small fish because there were no large ones left, I had more batter than I really wanted - in all, quantity rather than quality. Chips ok, though.

Always come here when in Brid. This is really a chippy but they have seating outside. Food is freshly cooked to order, The portions are large so we usually go for the smaller meal deals, Dont forget the scraps!!!!

Im trying all chippys in Brid and by far this is the best ! Mushy peas taste just like you remember when you was a kid and fresh , the fish was a medium cod but was huge ! Chips fresh chunky and tasty . I dont need to go anywhere else now ! £6 95 was a good price for a great meal n no washing up ! Must try, everything fresh and tasty :) staff very friendly to its not often you get both good food and friendly service .

Although the food is very tasty, it is extremely overpriced for what it is. They need to drop the price slightly as I do enjoy their fish and chips but I go elsewhere due to the price.

I'm not very happy with this place I have just been in to get 1 portion chips the chips were greesy and the lady serving was very rude also the chip spice pot was clogged and it wouldn't come out so I asked the lady serving if I could take the lid off to put some on my hand she said no as other people have to use it I haven't got a clue how other people could use it tbh it was that clogged mabey she shud start cleaning her pots regularly !!!!

Had a few days in Bridlington visiting my sister, we decided this day to have some fish and chips for our tea. The fryer Glen was very friendly and cooked our order to perfection. Will definitely be going again. The young lady that served us was very nice as well. Highly recommended.

This plaice is frying tonight. The best f and c in town. Cooked fresh to order so don't get cod with processed inferior batter else where.

I've been a customer of theirs for many years as I live just around the corner and I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed yet with the standard of the food.The fish is cooked to order so is never left to stand, the portions are good value, the service is great and the premises are of exellent standard as is born out by their 5 star health rating.I just cannot believe some of the ratings that are given as poor, they must be agrieved by something and taking it out on PoB.I would imagine that there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get a 5 star rating and Trevor and Veronica are certainly doing that.I've spent forty years in both a service industry and retail and find all the staff are exellent, particularly Matthew who is normally in when I visit and a credit to their business.

we went there a couple of nights and once on a lunch time, the food was always great but sometimes there was never enough staff on, but the only moan i have is some things came out dirty as staff don't have time to check things out, cutlary was raped in the serviettes dirty and some glasses was dirty, but everything else was good and great value

ive been using this chippy 20year and no more! the young dark haired lass and blonde are rude and mean, they dont know the meaning of customer service. the portions are ridiculously small, often the chips look and taste old and the fish is barely battered. this chippy used to be lovely however i think these days theres no "pride" they obviously are just intent in taking tourists money, as they buy their meals and probably wont be in the area again! note to owner: send your staff on customer service training, either stop being mean with the quality and quality of the food or at least charge appropriately for it. if people are paying less they cant complain then! as for me il be using jacks or 149 where your quaranteed good food and good service!

Nice cheap good quality meal, the pub wasn't to busy,plenty of seating and a nice atmosphere, the service was fast and efficient,nice place to go if your on a budget.

We use these on a regular basis,the staff are always very welcoming and have a smile on their face.The portions are really big and we sometimes end up leaving some of the chips and they're not greasy like some fish and chip shops either-definitely recommend!!!

I’d heard some good reviews about Pride of Bridlington fish shop. So on Tuesday evening I decided to try them. I was disappoint with the fish it had been frozen and they hadn’t defrosted it properly, The chips where good. It was the fish that let them down. If you have to use frozen fish please make sure it’s defrosted properly before frying.

My little boy wanted chicken nuggets and chips for his tea so we orders him the children's meal at £2.90 it was 3 small nuggets and a few chips not a good place to go I would avoid and go elsewhere to get more value for your money

First grumble, went in and asked for a bag of chips and the reply from the grumpy young girl serving was "small or large"? What's wrong with a normal standard size bag of chips This reminds me of the cross selling of popcorn at cinemas. Almost embarrassing the customer into saying large (more £) as they don't want to sound tight by saying small. Anyway as the chips were just for me I took a gamble and ordered small, £1.60! Large was £2.40. For the first time in my life I had to query the size of a portion of chips with the comment "Is that it?!" Honestly there must have been 10 chips. Anyway the girl turned around and put me another scoop of chips in my bag. For £1.60 I would expect a 'standard' decent size portion of chips. The taste of the chips were 5/10. I won't be visited this place again and I'll be taking the short drive up to 149 Marton Rd, much better up there.

fish and chips are ok but not a patch on Gabbys chippy.Service was grumpy, and a pet peev of mine is I hate receiving my fish and chips in a box! it has to be wrapped in paper in my opinion!

Soggy greasy batter on the fish chips well was chips was perfectly cooked not to greasy. The main down side for me was the price really

Myself and my family had fish and chips from here on Dec 30th and they were the best we have had in Bridlington.You have to wait while it is cooked but I like that as you know it is not warmed up.My family enjoyed them very much and we find it a lot tastier than any other in Brid.Will be using Pride Of Bridlington all the time now.

We have a holiday flat at brid and everytime we visit we always make sure we have fish and chips from here!! The staff are lovely, the portions are great and they have added extras on the menus such as different sauces....garlic mayo and sweet chilli. The kids meals are also great too. It's just yum!!

this is by a far the best chip shop in brid the staff are great, the portion sizes are fantastic and prices are very fair we use it all the time now and will continue to do so. cant recommend it enough

22/06/2013 My wife has just purchased chips from the Pride of Bridlington - we live in Brid and will never go there again!! Far too expensive, and the size of the portions are child size, and to be honest the chips portions seem to always contain small fragments - what has happened to the Pride of Brid, it used to be good food at a good price. I suggest you review your high prices and quantity you serve.not ahappy customer!!!!

By far and a way the worst chips I've had and at a ridiculous price!!!So what do you getChips - miserly portion,hard and undercooked so much so they broke up and crumbled oh and you get about 15 per portionLarge sausage battered,- in fact the batter was so thin it didn't even look coated and the sausage itself very poor , pale and unappetisingCurry sause, thin and runny with none of the usual chip shop 'Bits' you would normally expect.How much, just under a fiver a head. !!! You don't even pay that in cornwall!!Just when brid is trying to improve its image , visitors and locals alike are subject to this poor quality overpriced rubbish.My advise to the owners try a trip to seamer or crossgates chip pies you may just learn a thing or two.

We came to Bridlington on Sunday to have a rugby training session on the beach, after trawling the internet for a fish and chip shop I came across Pride of Bridlington. Spoke to Veronica during the week to ask if she would be able to do a huge order for team and parents.Service - couldnt fault it from start to finish - delivered it to the beach piping hot in insulated bags at the time we asked.Yum Yum would highly recommend them again and I know a lot of our parents were impressed.

Used to use these weekly, the the standards began slipping. Was good, friendly, and fast even when busy, but now the food standards have slipped, smaller portions, not as fast and not worth the money!

Shame to have to say but the portions are getting smaller , maybe a sign of the times ?Staff as always pleasant and the food is well cooked , our 2nd choice of chippys in Brid !

I always go to this chippy because the staff are extremely friendly even the young lads mentioned in an earlier review!I usually buy the budget fish and chips and find there is plenty in these portions to satisfy two hungry bus drivers!We visit this chippy at least once a week and wouldn't go elsewhere.

We tried pride of bridlington because our usual chip shop (gabbys) was closed we paid £18 for two small fish and chips and one large, when we got them home we couldnt get the paper off them because of the amount of grease, the shop was being run on this particular night by two young lads whose mates were in at the time making it quite uncomfortable to be in there while they were swearing and overall messing around it was throwing it down outside and one customer at the same time as me went outside and stood in the rain to avoid being in there whilst waiting for his food. We certainly wont be going there again and thats a shame due to the fact that i remember when this chippy first opened it was award winning.

with a couple of bench tables outside, if you dont mind the traffic fumes, road noise and dust outside the fish & chips are great, & the staff good too. Customer space is tight, but you dont have to wait too long for quality food and service here.

I use this chippy on lunchtimes occasionally as it is close to where I work. I have never really been impressed, but they are handy so that is why I continued to use them – not any more after the joke portion size I was served up today. 13 chips at £1.30, that’s 10 pence a chip, and look at the scrawny sausage! I was still hungry after so I went to Tesco for a sandwich!!

Went to brid' on sunday 10th April, called in at the pride of bridlington on quay road, turn left at the rail station over the level crossing and about ten minutes walk, its on your right hand side, all food cooked to order. The fish and chips were fantastic, really good quality fish,and the chips were very good,nice big portions,also very friendly staff,well worth a trip from Doncaster just for the fish and chips !!!

Typical isn't it, the previous owners had it going well then sold it on, taking most of their custom with them (shame on them) and then leave the new owners to try to compete, but then that's their problem, the main reason why custom left was because the new owners arnt that good at cooking, the chips are a bit crispy and the batter a little soggy, just not quite right, sorry but will not be going back

Having read the reviews on here, I made the family walk about 20 mins outside of Brid. Only to find it was shut, no decent place is closed on a Sunday of half term! I reckon the other posts are by the owners. Stay in brid, there's loads to choose from and save your legs.

Described as Fish and Chips, this should really be called 'Whale and Chips', the portions are huge, quality and outstanding value. No trip to Bridlington is complete until we have called in at the Pride. Excellence meal and with tables outside for el fresco dinning. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a trip out to Bridlington and decided to call in at The Pride of Bridlinton on Quay Road. Well, what can we say?? Fantastic! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The shop was clean and bright. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection, the list goes on and on.If your popping to Bridlington you must try this Fish shop its the best one we have visited in years.We will be returning very soon...watch out here we come!!!
