What was a lovely friendly cafe with yum cakes and food, appears to be being run down. Cakes have degenerated into often a few stale offerings, some days minimal savoury foods. Locals now being put off by unfriendly notice, 'dog biscuits only for customers'. Won't be going back after being a loyal customer since it first opened.

A Yorkshire pasty and a glass of soda (I think) made a good lunch. This little restaurant was near my hotel (Apple House) and the railway station.

My daughter and I visited this cafe, as we had read on TripAdvisor how nice it was. The cafe itself was lovely selling lovely food. The customer service wasn't that great. I had a Americano and I enquired what a Mocha was for clarification and then asked for one but a hot chocolate arrived for my daughter. We had been told there was no cream for the Mocha, but was asked if we wanted marshmallows, which we didn't. The hot chocolate was extremely sweet, just made with water. We also tried the Carrot cake, which was average. I think the lady who served us, was being trained up? Needs more customer service skills.

Lovely coffee, one of the best chicken, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches I’ve had in a long time & a lovely rocky road to finish. Customer service was lovely too

Luckily, we live just around the corner from the Prickly Pear Cafe - very lucky to do so! Ordered for takeaway, a Ham, Bomber Cheddar, Yorkshire Chutney with salad sandwich and an Egg May one - absolutely wonderful! Don't confuse sandwich as the ones served by M&S and such - this is far more substantial and tasty. Thank you, we'll be returning!

We were staying nearby and leaving that morning and so needed a lunch for a takeaway when we stumbled on this fantastic place. Lots of either homemade or local products that were tasty. We each had a roll each (very filling) along with one of their unique scotch eggs and a sausage roll plus 1 Italian style dessert (it took us two meals to eat the lots!). not cheap but qulity counts!

Lovely staff, happy & friendly. The coffee is great and the fresh bread / cakes / savoury items are absolutely delicious. This type of place is very much needed in this area and seeing the queues outside shows what a hit this place is! They also have a loyalty card. Great place and this is definitely our favourite local.

My wife called into the above cafe yesterday to buy a cake. There was one person already getting served before her. The lady behind the counter acknowledged my wife and carried on serving the other customer with coffee. The customer got several of his coffees and moved to the back of the cafe to allow my wife near the counter. The lady serving carried on making coffee for about another 15minutes and at no stage engaged with my wife again asking what she wanted or apologizing for the delay. Another staff member came out from the back, looked at my wife, stirred some soup and then went back. She then came out a short while later with some paninis for the same customer and disappeared again without even acknowledging my wife. At this point my wife gave up waiting to be served and left. The staff here obviously need training in customer service skills and also in multi tasking as it would have taken seconds to put a piece of cake in a bag, take payment whilst making the coffee.

Terrible service no staff but food it usually good. Not this time burgers were dry bread roll burnt chips over salty. Three burgers and chips and a drink each cost £49 so also overpriced. It is usually our treat when we go the the york outlet. Will not be going back will go to McDonald's for a nicer and cheaper burger.

What a gem and reasonable prices , food was cooked to order so always fresh and hot , staff were really helpful and friendly, especially kerry and Amy We were staying inthe Travel lodge next door and there's a connecting door to get inside , no faults on the 4 days we used it for our evening meal

The coffee ☕️ is excellent here, and the staff service is outstanding. However, the queue at peak times plus the waiting time let this cafe down. Creating 2 permanent queues, having 2 tills permanently staffed along with 2 drinks stations permanently staffed would perhaps help.

Found this place while looking for something to eat. We were given a choice of inside or outside eating. We chose outside as it was so warm. Staff very attentive to us. I opted for a cocktail & it was with me within minutes. We ordered starters and mains. The starters were hugeeeee we couldn't finish them as needed to leave room for dinner. Quality was good, service was quick and value for money was great. 100% recommend and would definitely return.

My wife and myself have eaten here a fair few times. But never have been as wowwed as we were last night. The gentleman at front of house was impeccable. A credit to the pub. After surveying the specials menu we both decided that the shin of beef pie with champ mash and fresh veg sounded too good to be missed. We were not disappointed! We both said, quite possibly the best pub meal we have ever ever had! The beef was cooked perfectly, the short crust pastry was just incredible. My wife Lydia said it was just like her mum's. That's some credit to the chef! The champ mash was delicious and the veg cooked absolutely spot on. Not a second too long. Again, perfect! We were probably too full for dessert but we were never going to resist if the main was anything to go by. My wife chose the Eton mess. I've never seen anyone look so happy eating a dessert. It looked amazing and indeed it was. I chose the apple and blueberry crumble. Simple and delicious. Just how I like it. All washed down with two fine glasses of Primitivo. And all very reasonable too. Top marks to everyone at the pub. We most definitely will be back!
