Prezzo - Colchester in Colchester

Very average meal. Food came out incredibly quickly. My lobster and crab ravioli though looked more like a starter than a main and was drowned in a creamy sauce with a couple of tomatoes added. No attempt at making it look nice. Expensive for what you get. Won't be back any time soon.

Our waitress was very welcoming & efficient , and the drinks were good. However, the Pepperoni pizzas that we both ordered were terrible-the worst we’ve ever had. My suspicions arose when the pizzas were delivered 5 minutes after we’d ordered and before we had even received our drinks. I think they may have been frozen, pre-prepared ones that had been quickly re-heated, as the crust was not crisp as it should have been. There was hardly any tomato sauce on the base and it had no flavour; the pepperoni tasted like a supermarket “value” brand, and the parmesan that we asked for to add to the pizza tasted like mild cheddar. I could only manage half of mine. We were expecting freshly made pizzas with quality produce - if we’d wanted supermarket style pizzas we could have stayed at home and saved ourselves the money! Despite our lovely waitress it was a very disappointing experience and we won’t be eating there again.

Generally good service and pleasant staff. Food quality was good and we had a nice meal. All good with kids and adult food.

Large family booking, waited a while for drinks, starters were poor, ( the garlic bread was just two small triangles with hardly any cheese on it. Main courses not much better. Service only average as well, no personality came through from any of the servers. In summary, its just a pretend Italian chain restaurant... and I don't think I'll be visiting another one of these Prezzo's anytime soon!!

Was an 18th Birthday for my son and this restaurant was his choice of venue, but really not impressed. The starters were great, and were the right amount of food, which was a good start, then it went downhill. I had some chicken dish, and if I had 3 bits of chicken I was lucky, the rest of the plate was just pasta and sauce. My wife had bolognaise, and there was what looked like one dessert spoon of sauce on top of a full bowl of spaghetti. Then the bill came, and there was a 10% service charge. Thought that was from the dark ages and certainly not from an Italian restaurant in Colchester. Have been to a few Italian restaurants in the past, and have to say, this was the worst. Certainly won’t be returning.

Visited prezzo for a date night and wasn’t disappointed, we had starter, mains and dessert and all were great. Simple but delicious carbonara & my favourite cheesecake so far!! Highly recommended and a lovely place for a date night.

Really easy to book our table online. Staff were helpful and friendly throughout our meal. Had plenty of choice on the menu. Food looked and tasted fantastic. Definitely recommend the lasagne and cheesy garlic bread!

Poor tasting food, dirty fingerprints around the bowls and very slow and poor service. Not very impressed to be honest. Such a shame.

First time at prezzo it's a very nice place to eat, food is lovely I have taken my partner here for her birthday today we ordered a pasta dish and found that the chicken was really chewy also why is it no matter where you go why do they always ask if everything is ok with the food when you have a mouthful of food other than that staff is very friendly

the tre gusti is an amazing pizza! such great flavour and the mamount of toppings on the pizza was truly fantasic! try abit of chilli oil too!

5 stars all round and about the nearest you will get to the real Mckoy. Well what can I say, I am totally flabbergasted at the quality of this place. Truly superlative, I've tried all three of the main Italian meal places. Ask Italian, Zizzi and now Prezzo and this one gets it for me in an abundance of stars. I rubbed my hand along the dado rail and guess what 'clean' ! Totally 100% the presentation of this establishment was something Ive not seen for a very long time. They cared ! The food OMG this was the icing on the plate and I picked the lowest cost options as I was using a buy a gift coupon given to me by my colleague. Prezzo is king of the hill in the tri competition stakes of whose on the top of the tree. The decor is an absolute splendor of colors and art works fit for a Chelsea London gallery. I could go on and on and as for my waiters Michael your worth your weight in gold. If my father was still alive god bless you would be straight on a concierge management course with RHF Hotels on full recommendation. My hat off to you. best meal Ive had in a very long time.

Booked a table for eight in a separate room. We were told on arrival that the booking was only made for four and that people were already sitting in the room. After an awkward few minutes we said we’d go elsewhere Then as we were leaving got told that maybe she could push two tables together. Too little too late I’m afraid. The Green Room was much more accommodating!

Had a great value Buy a Gift voucher, a more limited menu, but still very good choice. Food and Service were both excellent, I can highly recommend.

Good Covid Protocol. Window was open so good ventilation. Excellent menu very Italian of course but they do have excellent burgers if that's what you fancy but most of all excellent staff and a very relaxed atmosphere

Prezzo has gone to great lengths to make sure everyone is safe. I was a bit anxious as I haven't been out to eat for nearly 9 months, but I needn't have worried. Charming service and the food was really nicely prepared. A nice sunny...

Went here on Xmas Eve and had a lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere,best bit about going in the evening on Xmas Eve is there are no children!!!! Will be returning as soon as lockdown ends

This venue is always amazing in my opinion, the service is always fantastic and you never have to wait hours for the food to arrive. be sure to have a look at the set menus as they offer some great value.

We went for a birthday celebration and I’m very pleased we did. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the service was excellent and the food was fabulous. We wasn’t rushed or over bothered by our server, he just seemed to be at the table at the right time. We took a birthday cake and candles, which our server brought out and even sang happy birthday A lovely meal and a great evening Thanks

Delicious vegan food. Today we were so impressed with our food at Prezzo. The vegan mushroom pizza with vegan cheese was fabulous. It had tasty toppings of avocado and rocket and mushroom. The desert was delicious raspberry sorbet too. Best of all our waiter was delightful, friendly helpful and knowledgeable about our vegan options. He was fabulous. This was one of the best vegan meals we have had in a main stream Restsurant and one of the best waiters. I only wish I had got his name. He deserves a bonus!

I had the Salmon and prawn risotto at this restaurant today. It didn't resemble any sort of risotto I have ever had. It was more of a soup with a few bits of rice floating in it with some prawns and a few pieces of salmon. I even had to ask for spoon to eat it!. The waitress offered to send it back and get me another one, however, my two friends had already started their meals and it would have meant that they would have finished by the time I had got a replacement meal. In the end I managed about a quarter of it but couldn't eat any more. I was offered a free dessert because of this. After this experience I certainly won't be in any hurry to return.

I had a carbonara , it was a bit bland but all the ingredients were very fresh and the staff were very accommodating as I had , had my tonsils out and couldn’t eat a lot so they offered me a half portion . All the other meals were nice .

I came with my family on Saturday lunchtime. I imagined it would be busy as it’s ‘pay’ weekend so I booked a table for us 7. The table was tucked away which sometimes worries me as I wonder if ur going to be forgotten, not so!We ordered drinks which came promptly then when she came back we ordered our meal.I just thought that the staff were really excellent, very good and throughout the meal checked if we needed anything else. They looked after my small niece and nephew well too.Overall a good experience! The meals were plenty and tasty a great lunchtime out. Would recommend.

I am honestly sitting here, struggling with what explaination would better suit my so-called 'mushroom risotto'. Imagine a thick, creamy and yellow sauce that is meant to compliment a slice of beef (and nothing else). Then imagine amost cracking your tooth each time you chew, as it's been sprinkled by rice - in the same way you would spinkle your 5-year old's chocolate cake at his birthday. That's how I think I'd describe it. Then slice a couple of mushrooms and throw them in.

Very welcoming friendly staff. Clean warm spaceous surroundings. Very good food and very fair priced. Lovely place for a romantic meal or family meal highly recommend.

I have been to prezzo many times before but I have not been for around a year. We wanted somewhere easy and reliable to go for some good food having had a long day out.

a good evening was had at Preszzo with 2 pizzas ordered and a couple of drinks, service was great and the food was upto a very good standard. the pizza had amazing flavour and it was HUGE!

We had a voucher for this and were pleasantly satisfied with the offer. There were 3/4 choices for each course and they were basic Italian fayre but each was tasty and we didn’t leave hungry. Great choice for a “ just because...” dinner on a lower budget.

I am disappointed by my visit to Prezzo as usually its a good place to eat. I went here yesterday with my family (6 adults and 3 children), we had booked a table for 5:30. We were greeted by a lady (I'm guessing management?) at the bar who said the table wasn't ready as they had set it for 7 people not 9 as 2 needed highchairs. We were seated and it all went a wrong from there, they appeared to be short staffed as we only saw 2 ladies who were serving tables. They took a while to take just the children's orders and seemed a bit fed up and in a hurry when they got to us, they then disappeared for a while before coming back to take the adults orders. The children's starters came out quickly then a few seconds later followed by their mains meaning the children no longer wanted their starters, about 20 minutes after this our starters finally came out meaning the children had nearly finished their mains. We then had to wait a further 20 minutes or more before our mains came out, after my mum went and asked where our food was as the children were getting bored and tired. The lady she spoke to (again possibly management?) was rude and abrupt saying there was a queue of people waiting and seemed surprised when she mentioned that the children were ready to go home. We had to rush to eat our food as by the it was nearly 7pm and the children were not willing to wait any longer! The food wasn't the best, my pizza was a bit bland and dry, they forgot a ingredient on my brother's pizza etc... It was an expensive night for a bad service!

I go to prezzos in a regular basis and can say I've never had bad food. Always tastes great and the service is good what more can you ask for

Very pleasant evening, dinner in little walled garden behind restaurant, felt very Mediterranean. Very good pizzas and garlic bread. Not too crowded but plenty of atmosphere. Staff efficient and friendly and applied discount voucher, so food was extremely reasonable. Would recommend, especially for early dinner pre going to see a movie at the Curzon across the road.

Used a Buy a Gift voucher, which means you have a smaller menu, but there is still a lot to choose from and a drink included.

We booked a table for two on Thursday night. We ended up leaving before eating. Items missing from menu (out of stock) and after asking for house white was told there is none, the next white- out of stock, moved to the house red .... guess what out of stock, no substitute offered . Very poor if you can’t supply what is on your menu.

Had a 3 course set meal for two with a couple of extras. Excellent friendly service and very tasty meals. Have been here several times and will go back. Had a 18.00 booking in the week which was lovely and quite.

I'm signed up to Prezzo's e-newsletters and they always have great deals in them. I recently got a voucher code from them for a free bottle of Prosecco as it was my birthday. I honestly would have gone somewhere else if I hadn't have received that voucher - so they do work! The bottle was worth £25.50 as well, so I was really impressed.

We came with a Red Letter Days voucher and really enjoyed to ourselves. Nothing too much trouble. Food delicious - esp. the sticky toffee pudding! Kellie an absolutely wonderful waitress!

Family gathering. Always been a favorite as its reasonably priced and the food is pretty consistent. The new menu has taken away old favorites like meatballs. Managed to find a starter and main course, but was under-whelmed. The calzone was tasty and pretty filing

So glad Colchester still has a Prezzo with the closures near where I live. Saying that it’s a shame it’s a little out of the way because this one might go too. Worth looking out for the food and service was excellent. Certainly good and varied choice.

We went to Prezzo's for a family meal, there are 12 of us and Prezzo's caters for everyone. I have to eat gluten free and the choices were great. The waiter double checked everything and even told me about a new gf dessert which wasn't on the menu yet. As you can imagine with a large table there was a lot of running about but nothing was too much trouble. We were celebrating three family birthdays and the waiter kindly re lit the candles three times so each person had the opportunity to blow them out. I'm so glad we chose Prezzo's we had a lovely evening.

Great atmosphere and the fabulous building which has been refurbished to a high standard. Great food and service and the Cuzon is juts across the road.

My boyfriend and I went for a belated Valentine's meal and really enjoyed it. My other half hasn't been to Prezzo before but was really impressed. The food is tasty and well cooked and the portions are just right. We both had pasta for main but didn't come away over full, just satisfied. We shared a pudding, an amazing chocolate caramel dome brownie! We wished we'd had one each it was amazing!! Perfect size, perfect sweetness, the dome was crispy and the caramel was just right. The ladies that served us were lovely and just the right level of attentive. Great food and service Prezzo, we will be back.

So its valentines night my girlfriend wants a carbonara so i got a pizza too we got the food right on time it was good service from them but when we opened our food well the pizza was basically raw and incredibly white, the cheese on it was still kinda hard.

Prezzo food is the same, where ever you are, however the staff here go the extra mile to meet your needs, or at least they did on my recent visit.

Dropped in on the off chance after the cinema. Service was good, saying that the restaurant wasn't busy. Food was good but i wouldn't make a special trip to go there. Reasonably priced.

Enjoyed family meal after going to Colchester Pantomime, all staff efficient and pleasant. Menu good for everyone.

Waiting staff were disinterested and carried on chatting to finish their conversation while looking at us waiting to be seated. The food was not as described on the menu and when we sent it back as inedible we could hear the staff making sarcastic remarks. Very Insincere apology from the waitress. Other food was on the edges of being inedible and not very hot. Superviser did not seem surprised by our comments about food quality. She did take off two main meals and gave us two vouchers for free drinks. Couple on the table next to us had a similar poor experience,including a hair in one of their dishes. Same waitress was equally dismissive of them. Serious lack of customer service training here with overpriced indifferent food.

We visited on Friday without booking in advance. Although it is a busy Christmas period, the staff (Ewelina) arranged a table for us and apologised for the dining time being restricted. Ewelina was kind, professional and attending us closely all the way through the dinner. The pasta and pizza dishes were fantastic and freshly prepared. We had a wonderful family Friday night at Prezzo Colchester.

We visited Prezzo for a meal out with some old friends which we catch up with a couple of times a year. The food in which we ordered was from the set menu for Christmas. The food was good and the waiting staff were very friendly. I chose calamari which I enjoyed, a few others had breaded mozzarella or bruschetta (more like pizza bread topped with salsa). For main I had king prawn and salmon risotto which I would highly recommend!! And for dessert I had the chocolate brownie dome, very rich and dense but tasty! The only thing I would change is we were sat in a tiny side room with white walls, we felt distant from the atmosphere of the rest of the restaurant and isolated, therefore if you are to book, try and ask for the main restaurant!!

The Colchester Prezzo has a lovely ambience. It is very welcoming and the eating areas are divided so they do not encroach on the foyer/bar area.

Been to prezzo twice in other towns and had a poor experience. Had a works night out here in Colchester and to be fair it wasn’t too bad . Back tonight.....oh dear....overpriced generic slop. Even using 241 tastecard felt ripped off.

Lovely atmosphere great food & great service Loved the Hendricks with cucumber I had a rissotto which was very tasty the baked mushroom starter was lovely too.I know this is part of a chain but the staff make it feel very personal to you lovely.

I know this is a chain of franchises so they are not all up to the same standard, it aint too bad considering the competition.

First visit here, a little tucked out the way, but I knew where it was, friendly staff, nice food, would recommend.

This is far and away the best pressing meal I have had!! Booked at Woodbridge for my teenage daughters birthday meal and it was horrendous! My meal was still frozen! My son in law was poorly the next day! I don’t know what has happened here it used to a decent place to come for a reasonably priced supper don’t think I will rush back!

We visited Prezzos last Friday for a friend's catch up meal. We hadn't seen each other for a while so we had lots to talk about. The service was friendly and the decor was smart and modern. We had candles which added a nice relaxed ambience and the acoustics allowed for conversation. The food was tasty and generous and was served promptly. Thank you.

After a disastrous time in another town with this chain we felt that it was a blip and how much was we correct there staff especially Maciej and Kellie were fantastic with every detail in hospitality speed and taste of food being spot on even when I felt I’d got the wrong dish ( needed it spicier ) they corrected it and that’s why I have faith that it was a blip and I would deffo go back

Popped in just after lunch time.. food was very nice service was good.. thick dust and dirt around the skirting/shelf at the bottom but apart from that very nice. Prices are a bit high and the drinks are way over priced and not alot of variety. Had a 40% of mains voucher which saved is a tender. Would return again but only with vouchers.

It was our first visit and we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The menu was varied and our choices arrived fairly quickly. Our starter to share was excellent both in quality and quantity. We enjoyed our mains equally. A really nice time enjoyed by us as a family in a pleasant surroundings.

Five of us came for dinner, ordered some starters and 5 different mains. Starters came out pretty quickly.

My Husband and I chose Prezzo because we have been several times before, it is local and we like it.

We visited last night and sat in the lovely shaded garden the food was as always hot and well prepared we have no complaints about anything that we ate. where this Prezzo falls down is the service is so hit and miss last night there seemed to be only 3 staff dealing with the bar and serving both the restaurant and outside area. this led to long waits, the table next to us have been sat for 20 minutes before someone came to take a drinks order from them. If you are busy enough that your restaurant is 90% full then you should really have enough staff to deal with those customers it shouldn't take over 15 minutes to give someone their bill why would you want to keep a table occupied by someone who has finished when you have people in the bar waiting for tables?

Have very good meal with friends, wine was good and the staff are very attentive and friendly. There is a car park near by ( Priory St.) have to pay £2.00 in the eve. This Prezzos is not in the high Street. If you need the toilets they are down in the cellars.

We found this restaurant to be a very pleasant find. It was very quiet, but it had a lovely atmosphere. The service was excellent and our drink and food selection came very fast. The food was well presented and well cooked. We had no complaints. A little away from the main shops, approximately 5 minute walk, which may have been reason why it was quiet at lunch time. I would recommend Prezzo’s in Colchester. Well worth a visit.

Decided to go out for dinner, hardly ate all day so was looking forward to a good meal! We were served by a guy, it took longer than normal to be ask and be served our drinks. There was only 2 people that seemed to be doing everything.

We sat outside and had plenty of shade. The food was lovely and the service was good. Food came out reasonable time no delays etc.

My friend and I met for lunch and as we enjoy Italian food, decided to try the Prezzo in Colchester, a chain that I have visited in several other towns but not in Colchester! I really liked the building and the setting and that gave a good impression. It was not particularly busy on a Friday lunch time and we easily found a table. The service and food was good quality and I very much enjoyed my chicken, bacon and avocado salad, and my friend her giant meatballs and spaghetti! I always have a mini dessert and coffee to finish the meal, which is just the right size! We were able to sit, relax and enjoy our meal without being rushed in a pleasant atmosphere. I had a discount voucher for the meal which made it more reasonably priced. I would recommend this branch of Prezzo as it is a little out of the town centre and as such not too crowded, and is in a pleasant building with relaxing decor.

Decided to eat at Prezzo thanks to Tesco, and loving the Prezzo at Rayleigh. Its tucked behind the church just opposite Castle Park so actually quite peaceful compared to other restaurants up the high street. The restaurant was clean, as were the toilets which (ladies) was accessible only by many stairs downstairs.

Title says it all really, if you love your food but appalling service, this really is the place for you. Just check your bill and make sure you get the food/drink that you order.
