Pret A Manger - Capitol Centre in Cardiff

If there's one thing you can take from my reviews, it is never ever go to Pret. The food is inedible , the prices sky high for absolute inedible food and the coffee is even worse than M&S

Would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at this Pret a Manger. On tuesday after travelling down by aeroplane i met my son's for coffee and somehow left my handbag there. Did not realise for 4 hours as i thought it was in my rucksack. Luckily it was found and handed in. You cannot believe the emotions i felt. The staff were brilliant and when we went back the next day we were welcomed. Coffee and food was excellent too

Popped into pret at the end of November with my sister. Thought it would be passed the lunch rush and it didn't seem too busy. We picked up what we wanted to eat and went to the counter. I felt like I wasn'the worth their time. Wasn't asked if I wanted anything to drink was just told the cost of my food so I had to specifically as if I could have a drink and was made to feel like it was an imposition. Same with my sister so she didn't bother to get a drink. I had the mushroom soup which was disgusting and my sister had the tuna melt with the tiniest bit of cheese. We will not be back.

Was in a rush and dropped my granola yogurt all over the floor and instead of being even slightly annoyed they were so lovely. Also when I went to pay for it the man serving gave me a fresh one ‘on the house’, although I troubled them. Very lovely :)

Stunning healthy food on offer here. Little on expensive side. But really enjoyable food. Tuna baguette was delicious. Costing around £3. But little more then to eat in. Bang bang chicken wrap £4.20 eating in. Both were really tasty. Friendly service. Would definitely visit again

I often grab breakfast here on the way to work, and the staff are nothing but kind and lovely every time I go in. Today when I went to grab a roll, a woman approached the till after me blankly holding a mug and stated ‘this isn’t a Late, it tastes like coffee’. The kind barrister replied ‘Late is a coffee’. I hope if anyone reads this review just remember it’s not the staffs fault you know absolutely noting about coffee, so if you do have a stupid question that no doubt they have to deal with ALL DAY, just be polite, don’t be a Karen:) big up pret staff, keep doing what you’re doing

A lot of mislabelling here, not sure how many branches do this, but be careful. The term ''fresh'', natural'', is not even close. They mess with the dates, as the bargettes are a year old, and the sandwiches are full of preservatives and addictives to keep and the food ''fresh''. Alsso, the labellings on the food isnt clear or correct. The staff at times struggle to know whats in them and some aren't bothered to take their time to help, despite the slow service.

Our stop this morning for latte and porridge. Hit the spot. Standard fare for this type of place. Porridge was warm and creamy. Coffee served in nice cups.

I use this branch of PRET for a quick coffee and the staff are always helpful and efficient. The place is always clean and tidy.

I totally agree with with ‘Newportonian’ below. A group of us (7 in total) visited this branch on a Saturday lunchtime before going to a show. We were all going to have coffees and food but on eventually getting served (after waiting around 15 minutes) we we told they didn’t have any proper cups left and that we would have to have paper cups instead? In this day and age of looking after our environment it is not acceptable and to top it we were not even offered a discount. Four of our group decided not to have drinks out of paper cups (and I don’t blame them)so went elsewhere. I decided to stay put as like their teas but after being served I then waited a further 10 minutes only to find out they had ‘forgotten’ about my drink (I wasn’t the only one waiting for this to happen to). The counter staff were arguing between themselves and the whole experience was a joke. I did email Pret A Manger’s head office to receive the following replay: ‘I’m sorry to hear about the service you received recently in our Capitol Centre shop.Along with the emphasis we put on providing amazing friendly service, we put a huge amount of effort into training up our teams to work as quickly and as accurately as they can.Despite that, it seems we’ve fallen short on this occasion, and I’ll be passing your feedback to the shop so that they can make sure this doesn’t happen again’ No mention of serving everyone out of paper cups so they obviously think it’s acceptable. May I suggest they invest in more dishwashers at this branch as the staff are obviously too lazy to wash up for their loyal customers.

Totally disgusted by behaviour of a young member of staff, he has been very rude on a number of occasions.

I visited this morning at about 930 am for a cappuccino and croissant which I have always enjoyed. I joined the queue and had to wait several minutes because only one staff member was serving. This has happened many times. When I was finally served, I was told there was no crockery available and that it would have to be a paper cup. I don’t think it’s on to pay nearly three pounds for a coffee and then have to make do with a paper cup (with no discount). There have been several problems with this branch in the recent past. During the winter the shop was cold, I was told this was the responsibility of the shopping centre manager and that nothing could be done. Also a couple of months ago, it was paper cups only for several weeks. They also replaced the seating a while ago, increasing capacity, but at the expense of comfort and space. I like Pret food and drink, but I feel improvements wouldn’t go amiss here. I haven’t experienced similar problems at other Pret shops.

I meet my father for lunch her almost every week. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, particularly the longer serving staff as they do recognize regular customers. The food is always of excellent quality and reasonably priced. I love the fact that you can get a coffee for 99p! The only negative I have is that they don't do the duck salad anymore which was my go to meal.

We regularly visit this Pret A Manger and consistently receive excellent service and very good coffee. The gentleman who serves me is very smiley and courteous. My favourite stop for a pick me up whilst shopping.

We are frequent visitors to this particular location. So it’s now 17:30 and good 90 minutes before closing time. We feel in the way and a hindrance. I don’t expect a full range of food this late in the day but a few vegetarian options would have welcome, even though I’m not a vegetarian. On arrival the downstairs toilets are closed as they’ve been cleaned the disabled toilet hasn’t been cleaned and it shows. Don’t expect to find any spoons, serviettes, or condiments as they are now covered over for tomorrow. Food was standard fare for Pret but the drinks were served with the care, warmth and consideration that you might expect to bestow on one of your enemies. Overall visit well before closing and you will be quite satisfied, otherwise avoid the last 90 minutes of trading. They’ve just cleaned all the tables surrounding us, I feel they’re making a point to us and the other 17 people. .... I guess we should leave!

Lovely mid shop treat with my sister, she had plenty of choice which is unusual for a fussy veggie. I love the network with homelessness as I think this is a VIP issues I am passionate to support. Bit pricey but delicious food. Very friendly...

The staff are friendly but the coffee here is average and over priced. Also couldn't find a table without empty cups on it.

The pret a manger food quality is well known. However, this is not a too cozy place you are better off with coffee shops if you would like comfier chairs and relaxation.

On a very busy lunchtime,we were served quickly by extremely pleasant staff. Food quality was good and reasonably priced.We will definitely call again.

Not much you can say about a Pret, as with all of them they offer a good standard of light snacky food and drinks, even if some of the more 'hip; drinks are pricey

This is in a central position serving the usual Pret a Manger food and drinks. Good choice of rolls and sandwiches etc.and the tables were clean although my visit was during a busy period.

As with all stores in this chain the food is always good, freshly prepared, reasonably priced, service quick, restaurant areais clean and well set out and perfect for a quick lunch.

Had a long wait to be served and seated. Limited choice on menu. Would not be rushing back for another coffee.

Been a regular at Pret across the uk with work but the Cardiff portions seem to be smaller with fillings in sandwiches often scarce . Once respected for substance and value I think my opinion may be changing . Priced quite high so you expect...

Coffee good, tables could be cleared faster and kept cleaner. worked well as a meeting place, its a large place and a lot of people were there with coffee/snacks and working on their lap tops so a popular venue with many people for many reasons.
