My husband and I called in for a drink and cake while on a shopping trip . We ordered a tea , a coffee and two cookies . The drinks were served in a paper cup and the two accessory stations in the cafe were out of use meaning that we had to go back to the entrance to get sugar etc . There were no napkins anywhere in sight. The cafe was very sparsely furnished and very uncomfortable. There was one chair in the back section where there should have been four . The cookie which I had chosen was as hard as metal , so much so that I could not bite it . I returned to the serving counter and complained , the assistant agreed that it was not edible and gave a refund . I mentioned that we couldn’t see any napkins and was told that the customer has to ask for one if required. In all this was a very unacceptable experience . We will never return

Great, fresh food and drinks, but would be nice if the staff could smile more and make customers feel more welcome. Thanks.

I find reviews of pret amusing to read… you honestly get what you pay for. The chain does not aim to please you with selected blends of coffee and it definitely does not aim to please your senses with the decorative ornaments. Most people get coffee here as it is jet fuel for £30 a month- it is a wrong place if you want to feed your Poppy and Tilly. Besides that it is not bad ;)

I asked for a flat white coffee to drink there and got a tiny paper cup of coffee. This was obviously very poor value and presentation

I find it extremely disappointing to regularly visit Pret A Manger (s) to find the seating occupied by students, with their laptops, their bags, pencil cases, note books & a single drink that has clearly been drunk sometime ago. Majority of the time they are taking up two tables, along with 4 to 5 chairs. Not to mention their feet up on the chairs, I mean come on where are their manners? This isn’t student halls for goodness sake! Winchester is a Cathédrale city, with visitors coming farm far & wide, they should be able to come & have a coffee, with out having to circle the tables, like they are waiting to come into land. This is certainly not the only Pret that has this problem, Bath is plagued with this attitude to free wifi & students intimidating other paying customers. My advice is potential customers, check to see if there is actually space to sit down, before you purchase your drink of choice. Other than that, the food is great, of course, that’s why I like to come into Pret.

PaM is right in the heart of Winchester's shopping district and near the cathedral. So very handy for a quick lunch etc. Deceptively spacious as it has a large upstairs seating area. Turn around is quick so you can usually find a table even at busy weekend peak periods.

All the P and Ms sell the same type of sandwich related food which is pretty much quite average. I believe they should change the philosophy and provide locally related food stuff

A good place for eating and drinking something, in the main street of Winchester. We preferred to stay in a table outside, just because the internal environment was a little bit tight. We ate a sandwich and drank a soda.

Good food for a quick lunch, they take care about the allergies, they have panels about all information or if you ask they give a folder allergy with more specific information. Nice staff and good space!

I don’t go to Pret in Winchester because the coffee is too weak and always too cold for my liking.

An excellent choice of fast food, much of it is relatively healthy. There's plenty of seating on two levels.

The people who run this Pret deserve an award. Superb atmosphere. Superb customer service. We were looked after with smiles and cheeriness. They helped make room for my 88-year old mum in a wheelchair and they even gave my son a new bag of crisps when he dropped them all on the floor. And they swept them up with a smile telling him not to worry. Great to receive some excellent customer service.

Very disappointed this morning, expecting to buy your Delicious porridge for my breakfast, it was 11.00am and found it had all been taken away. So went to cafe Nero and had one there.

Usually find vegan food for my lunch. Only gripe is tables slow to be cleared so sitting at a table with dirty cups is annoying but I have always been quick to be served.

We’ve visited this shop previously in the summer and it was very busy so we put the lack of customer service down to that but visiting today sadly nothing had changed. The same chap behind the counter couldn’t even be bothered to look up when taking your order with no interaction with us at all. Worryingly he was in a different shirt than the other staff so did that make him the Manager. It’s a shame because the food and drink on offer is really good and varied but is daly let down by the customer service.

Came here on a Saturday for a break between shopping. First time visiting a Pret but was impressed as the hot chocolate was very nice indeed, especially with cream. There isn't much seating available on the ground floor but was plenty upstairs.

Great coffee, but expensive like any coffee chain. They have a good variety in food selection, all very healthy and the sandwiches I have tasked have been very good, but they are expensive.

Pret a Manger is conveniently located in the city center. Efficient service, wide selection of salads, sandwiches and pastries, big sitting area, comfortable chairs, pleasant atmosphere. I had a salad with chicken, pistachio, tomatoes, cucumbers and it was one of the best salads I've eaten for a long time! The ingredients are perfectly matching, fresh and tasty. Macchiato is also on a high level.

The staff put me off buying coffee again from here. Efficient yes, friendly no. False smiles accompany a sale. They do there job well but really don't care about the customer. Sorry, but that's the impression I got.

Nicely situated n a corner of a lane connecting with the High Street, this is a great place to people-watch. ut you came here to eat! The same fare you can get countrywide so you know what you will get; good quality and value for money but, and a big but, there is no gluten-free bread so you're reduced to a salad and I don't always fancy salad. Time to up the operation, Pret a Manger

We used to go to Caracoli, but ever since that became impossible to get a seat in we started visiting Pret. The coffee is on a par and although the food is fairly routine, there is plenty of seating and you don't feel pressured to move on. Yes it's a chain and so not particularly imaginative, but there's no unpleasant surprises either. The only downside is that it sometimes takes a while to get served.

Pret a Manger has really made healthy eating out in England easy, affordable and enjoyable. Granted it is a bit pricey, but considering that the ingredients are organic and fresh, it is well worth the prices. The sandwiches are really good as are the soups. The juices are excellent. I loved the turmeric-jalapeno hot shots and the ginger shots. I took these back every night to my hotel room for a late night or early refreshment. The cheddar and pickle sandwiches were excellent. I'd also often pack a picnic from one of the stores and take it on my wanderings through the city and the parks.

I visited there with my two young children and my mum for a drink and a cake. I ordered two luxury hot chocolates, two fudge cakes and two snow men cupcakes for my children. The order arrived incorrectly at the table without the fudge cakes and an extra hot chocolate that I hadn’t ordered but had paid for. I received a refund for the extra hot chocolate by staff member that was very polite. I then waited for the fudge cakes to arrive and realised that they were not on their way. I approach the counter to raise the question ‘where are the fudge cakes that I had ordered’ to a staff member. This person showed me the receipt and my total order was on there and paid for. The lady then told me that I hadn’t paid for the cakes and that I needed to. At this point I was frustrated with the service and did not feel it was my need to pay for the fudge cakes again as they were clearly on the receipt, she showed me. From this moment Leona, who claims to be the ‘owner’ of the Orangery very rudely and unprofessionally in a confrontational way aggressively spoke to me saying ‘I am not giving them away you have still got to pay for them Are you expecting freebies?’ I was and am completely dumfounded and shakingly shocked at her customer service, her behaviour and attitude towards me. I responded with wanting a refund and said that I was going to leave at which she asked me to bring back the snow man cupcakes to which my children had already eaten, and she told me to ‘get the children to regurgitate the cakes’. All of her communication was confrontational, argumentative, aggressive and intimidating and it was a floor show for the customers who were present. There was a significant number of people who witnessed this as the café was busy. I walked away and told my family we were leaving. I was visibly distressed, shaking with anger at the way I had been spoken to and treated as a paying customer by Leona. I took the hot chocolate that I hadn’t drank back to get a refund to which Leona very stroppily without any communication and atrocious behaviour completed the refund. I then went back to collect my family to leave, and I could visibly and audibly see Leona ‘slagging’ me off to staff members in front of other customers. She was gesticulating with her hands in a grand fashion about me. As I left I approached her to say that I was able to hear and see what she was saying about me and she said in an aggressive, chavvy way that ‘yeah she asked me what happened so I told her’ I am absolutely appalled and lost for words at the service, approach and professionalism of Leona who claims she is the ‘owner’ of the Orangery tea rooms. During this confrontational situation I became aware that other staff members appeared fearful of her as they were apologising profusely to me for the way Leona was behaving and the lady who was trying to give me the refund was stuttering and extremely nervous. I wonder what it must be like to work with the ‘owner’ of the Orangery rooms who behaves in such an atrocious manner towards paying customers. I want to clarify that the other members of staff where extremely apologetic for Leona’s behaviour and treated me as I would expect to be treated.

Visited for 1st time on Thursday 27th June 2024 to break journey from Dorset to Derby. Parked ok and got blue badge space. Long queue and got drinks ok but had no bread for toast or teacakes at 11.18 which was disappointing. Tables were not cleared very quickly.

I was inspired to write this review by seeing a Greggs eating numpty slamming the place for price. Yeah, they're not cheap but you're paying for quality ingredients and an amazing product which is value for money. For less than a fiver you're getting a huge sweet treat with complex flavours, a very satisfying, delightfully flaky pastry and a very satisfying and filling experience. If you want a hit of sugar and bland white, air filled bread? There are cheaper options! You won't get a limp chicken pasty here. If you want extremely satisfying bread made with high quality flour and an amazing crust? If you want tasty, sweet pastries with a delicious zing? If you love good food rather than ultra processed? Then this won't bust your budget and will fill you up. The venue itself is a warehouse with some benches other branches are much nicer.

Have not been here since pre Covid. Other reviews were not so good, but we had no complaints. We were early on a Sunday morning so although quite a few people the service was not slow. The coffee was excellent, and the carrot cake jolly tasty. The toilets were very clean. For me I trod carefully on the terrace which did look a bit slippery.
