Pret a Manger in Edinburgh, City of

I cut through the station on my way to work and used to go there all the time for a coffee and one barista in particular always remembered me and was always nice and cheerful and friendly (think his name is Lewis). I had not been for over six months and am now drinking less coffee but I went back the other week and to my delight (baring in mind all the customers that they will get in a busy train station each day) Lewis remembered me and gave me the same warm friendly greeting

We have been regular customers of Pret A Manger for many years. This was our first ( and the last) visit to this branch. Ordered two black decaf Americanos with hot milk on the side. One had milk added and was barely warm Visiting the men's bathroom, found it to be filthy with sink water faucet loose and about to fall into the sink. No soap in the dispenser On asking to report the state of the bathroom to the manager was told to wait as he was too busy. Left in disgust

suppose getting there at the right time will provide more choice as popular sandwiches and offerings disappear as the day goes on. they have good coffee and soups, salads, side tastes with fruit, yogurt, etc,.,., fast in and out and always good quality.,.

Room only in our hotel so chose Pret as it was so handy. Very clean, quick service and tasty options.

My girlfriend and I both got drinks and sat down at a table with our books and laptops to do some work. Almost immediately one of the staff slammed a receipt down on our table and showed us where he'd drawn a line under our time of arrival and told us we had one hour max (it wasn't even our receipt). We each get another drink after about 50 minutes and at this point the cafe is almost entirely empty. The man comes back and proceeds to tell us to leave because of the lunch rush (there are 15+ empty tables, we both just bought new drinks). He stands next to our table waiting for us to pack up while making these impatient sounds. I asked if we could stay longer and promised we would leave should it suddenly fill up and he was extremely rude and kept angrily pointing to a sign on the wall like I was an idiot. This has thoroughly put me off ever returning to Pret which is a shame.

after spending money on drinks and food, they proceeded to rushed us out after 30 mins despite it not being busy. they had appalling customer service and where extremely rude to us, giving an unfriendly environment and atmosphere that we will not being going back any time soon. whilst still enjoying your drinks my daughter felt uncomfortable due to the barista staring her doing down, making her feel unsettled and eventually leading to us leaving before they kicked us out for being here less than an hour. don’t come here!!

We only wanted a couple of coffees and something for breakfast. It was quite busy and my husband picked his food from the hot shelves. I wanted a porridge but couldn’t see it so asked at the counter. The lad serving was not helpful and practically bit my head off. Picked up the last porridge. My husband asked for a cappuccino and I asked for a decaf coffee. He then said to us so you want two cappuccinos? No, just one and a decaf Americano. Not sure what was so difficult. Only saving grace was the seating was well spaced out and we sat near the window. Won’t be rushing back there.

We popped in for coffee and a cake. The server at the counter was abrupt and unfriendly. Usually you can get a gluten free cake in a coffee place like this but when i asked she said they did not have any. I asked if there was anything else at all that was gluten free and she just said no in a very unfriendly way, not even saying sorry. This Pret was a bit grubby looking, the staff were not helpful and the choices were poor. I would not go back.

We love Pret and returned to this branch whilst in the City. It has gone downhill, staff attitude and helpfulness with basic customer requests or information wanted. Staff also need to get cleaning the store is not clean for these reasons we went for takeaway love Pret but this store needs improvement.

Badly needs a clean. Walls bu tables dirty and seats covered in past meal fragments. Good hygiene needs more than a demand to wear a mask.

Absolutely shocked at the poor customer service. Ordered a mango and pineapple smoothie and the woman serving me placed 3 separate smoothies on the counter for my own and other orders. I asked her to confirm that one of them was mine and that it was mango and pineapple at which point the woman rudely and abruptly asked me back, “what does it look like?” Perhaps Pret should invest in some training for basic customer service? They could certainly use some at this store.

The ONLY bad Pret experience I have ever had. We went in at around 15:50 on a Friday to get a quick snack. There was a very little selection of sandwiches, of which all the ones with avocado were brown. I asked the manager very politely if they were bringing out any others any time soon. He replied "closing in 10 minutes". I then repeated "oh you're closing in 10 minutes?" and he responded "yeahhhhh?" in a very rude and unwelcoming tone. We then proceeded to get a few chicken avocado sandwiches and asked if a small discount was possible due to the avocados being brown. The only other member of staff working at the time replied bluntly "speak to my manager" with a short temper. The manager then came back to us with a horrible attitude and said "the food will either get sold or go to charity, no discount" and smirked, muttering something under his breath to his colleague as he walked away (which we found very odd). As we walked away after having paid we turned around briefly and caught them both shaking their heads at us as if we were at fault. Very disappointing experience and extremely inappropriate attitude.

Good location for a light bite to eat. Lovely sandwiches and coffee eat in or takeaway options in a great location in North Bridge.

Great delicious and healthy food at very low prices! Looks great, tastes great and very affordable. I went to every Pret a manger in Edinburgh and only had great experiences. I wish we had this chain in Denmark!

The portions feel carefully calculated to maximise profits. Unfriendly service doesn't leave you feeling good about your local cafe.

Ci ero già stato in altre capitali europee, un’ ottima soluzione per un pasto veloce durante la visita della città ... prezzi medi ... supplemento sui prodotti se ci si accomoda al tavolo ... l’insalata mi è piaciuta tantissimo, ne avrei preso tranquillamente un’altra, ma alla fine ho optato per uno yogurt... buonissimo .. pane di ottima qualità .. consigliato ... personale alla cassa molto cordiale .

Fue el primer restaurante que visitamos durante nuestra visita a Edimburgo. Estuvimos a la hora del desayuno y las estanterías estaban repletas de productos previamente preparados: bocadillos, fruta... Todo muy típico inglés. Buen café.

Locale perfetto per una calda colazione o per un pranzo veloce. Diversa possibilità di scelta tra dolci per colazione e bevande calde, per non parlare dei tramezzini, insalate e panini nella zona frigoriferi.Ci sono sedie libere a disposizione per la consumazione, bellissime per una pausa studio o relax con i propri pc.Tramezzini freschi, ottimi sapori per pause economiche.

Gran lugar para tomar algo de comida a la fuga, comer o sacar. Todo es natural y de origen ético, buena comida (ensaladas, sopas, envolturas, bebidas, frutas), el personal es rápido y servicial. No vayas muy tarde por la noche o no quedará mucho.

Choix de sandwiches, salades, cafés et plus. Personnel gentil. Ce qu'il faut pour un bon repas du midi rapide que l'on peut apporter.

I love the food options here; hot or cold, breakfast or lunch. Also tried some pastries and very good. Some of the tables wobbled too much which makes putting a hot drink on a little tricky but overall this place is great.

Between the old town and 'new' city, this particular Pret a Manger is well placed, clean, efficient and not that crowded - though you may still have to wait for a table. The food is freshly made and coffee/tea/hot chocolate delicious.

WE ate here for breakfast as it was open early. Very good choices and clean. Also quite convenient..

As ever, this is great food in a great location. It is a good place to meet up or rest up on North Bridge. There's plenty of space to spread out if you need to and a clean and pleasant toilet at the back.

Il locale sarà anche carino, ma il cibo è davvero insapore. Abbiamo preso un panini e una piadina (stile wrap) con due ripieni completamente diversi ed entrambi avevano lo stesso identico gusto, come se stessimo mangiando della carta. Per me è assolutamente un grande no.

Pret a Manger is Pret a Manger. You know what you're getting! This particular location got quite crowded midday and we were unable to find a place to perch for a cup of soup. Was easier to get food to take out.

My first-ever Pret breakfast! Coffee was passable but the cheese and bacon croissant type of thing was truly awful. Really greasy and floppy. Only ate it because it was a long day and wouldn't be eating for sone time. Good lication and found a comfortable seat..but won't be revisiting.

As it was close to Waverley Station it seemed like an ideal spot to have a bite before setting off home. The avocado wrap was lovely as well as the Bircher muesli. Nice selection of food and drinks.

Stopped here today for morning teas. Quick service Friendly staff. Lots of nice food on offer. Well worth a visit

Just 'round the corner from Waverley Station on a wet Saturday lunchtime. Busy, a little scruffy, but just about managed to meet the requirements of somewhere warm and dry to drink a cup of tea with luggage. Toilets not great.

I'm a regular as I love the coffee. Treated myself to some lunch today and it was really tasty but healthy too. I'm dairy intolerant and the staff couldn't have been more helpful about my questions. All in, a great lunch and I will be back.

När vi besöker England brukar vi göra flera besök på Pret a manger. Denna låg nära vårt hotel vilket gjorde att vi besökte den flera gånger. Tyvärr blev varje besök en besvikelse då sortimentet varje gång var så utplockat att vi flera gånger fick lämna utan att handla och istället gå nån annanstans.

We visited Pret a Manger a lot during our 6 night stay in Edinburgh for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. During our stay we tried the toasted sandwiches, wraps, muesli and yoghurt, pecan slice, coffee and sandwiches and all were fresh, delicious and good value. Since we've been home we miss Pret a Manger and wish they were in Australia!!

Pret never failed me, the food is always munchy and substantial enough to respond to my family's apetites

Stopped by for a sandwich, chips and a drink. Needed enough for two so we picked up two sandwiches. The egg salad sandwich was good but not special. We the chicken salad was almost bad. There was far more bread than filling. There was two prices, eat-in and take-away. Eat-in was more expensive. I left with the impression that this “chain” sells inexpensive sandwiches. Because after eating up the street at the nearest Subway, I concluded Pret a Manger is just cheap food because a similar sandwich at Subway was much better and the prices were comparable. The service was slower at Subway when compared to Pret but the line for service was much longer.

This is our go-to spot for breakfast on our trips to Edinburgh. It's close to the Royal Mile, but just far enough to make it a fairly quiet option. The store itself is spacious with lots of seating. It has a great variety of beverages, sandwiches, and pastries at good prices. A great place to start a day of exploring the city.

Stopped here on way back from Edinburgh Castle. Very good service and great coffee and cakes. Enjoyed a relaxing time there and appreciated the free wifi

Normally love Pret and popped in for Breakfast only they had nothing. I asked politely if you have anything veggie and was told 'I'd have to wait for 20/25 mins by a rude member of staff. The guy with the one star and tattoo picked his nose and wipied it on his trousers. Nice! Left feeling hungry and disappointed in the outlet.

Love Pret! We seek out our nearest location any time we are traveling in the U.K. I can always rely on quality, affordable, fresh & tasty food. Staff are always polite, and the locations are always kept clean. The North Bridge location was our "go to" spot while in Edinburgh. Minutes walk from the hotel on Market street, just take the Scotsman stairs up to North Bridge. Stopped nearly every evening of our stay for an effortless solution to dinner after long days of exploring in the city. Staff were always upbeat and polite. Location was always clean. Sometimes we ate in and sometimes took it to go. Always a good choice. Thanks for taking care of us while we were traveling!

Nous y sommes allées un midi afin de manger equilibré. Je connaissais cette chaine que jai decouverte à Londres. Manger sur le pouce de facon equilibré, cest parfait. A 2 nous avons payé une 20aine de pounds.

Es una cadena de tiendas, algunas tienen mesas para comer y otras practicamente solo te venden comidas, tipo sandwich, ensaladas y pasta pero esta bastante bien de precio, todo lo que hemos consumido estaba muy bien y razonable.

This is a great place for a quick lunch, near the bus/train station. The quality seems to be the same from country to country, very fresh and reasonably priced. We ate here upon arrival as we didn't want to run around trying to figure out where to eat, and on our last day lunch again before heading to the airport from the bus station around the corner. Original salads and sandwiches, fairly clean (just request a wipe down of your table and they'll be there in a flash), and of course,you can stay quite a while. Not typically Scottish fare, but good when you're undecided and need a quick lunch. Several addresses in town.

A cold day in Edinburgh, and we needed something warm and ended up with a soup. Tasteful. Good food and service to be at a fast food restaurant. Out from expectations were we satisfied.

This chain in the UK reminds me a little of Panera in the US. There is a good selection of breakfast items, pastries, soups, sandwiches, salads and "bowls", packaged and ready to go. Everything is delicious and healthy. Great choice when you want something healthy to grab quickly.

Coconut & chicken curry soup with no chicken. Few strands of it similar in size to tiny pieces of white thread😂 The concept of healthy is great and they were good for a long time but it is now a rip Off.

Stopped for a coffee, we both had flat whites that was nice and strong just the way we like it - the double blueberry muffin was very tasty.

We visited here twice. On both occasions we were overun by rude italian and spanish school kids all waving vouchers to their discounted meals. We choose to eat here as though pret a manger was a step above that. Seems we were wrong.

Pleasant staff. The coffee is excellent. Good , tasty fresh food. Always a delight to visit. Great to see Pret open late over the Fringe Festival too!

This is Costa Coffee's main competition - and they've carved a niche by offering delicious sandwiches and salads in addition to coffee. It's also the only place to find a Splenda-like product for your coffee...everyone else just offers Sweet & Low (gag!).

We visited Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and found at times that we just wanted a quick bite, rather than a full sit-down menu, and maybe even something relatively healthy.

I like this place. But I would definitely stay longer and buy another coffee ..,. IF IT WASN'T SO FREEZING COLD!!

Always enjoy Pret since discovering during our European holiday! Fresh food, great coffee and pleasant atmosphere. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff! And got to love Pret a Manger's cause and commitment.

I love this place especially because of their coffee and bakery. Try the chocolate croissants or the salty ones (with cheese and tomato or bacon), they are amazing! The food is pretty nice too and I just wish it was a little bit cheaper. The staff is usually really nice, I would really recommend it :)

There were two people serving when we arrived but one decided to go off and move pastries around or something so I waited - second in the queue and it took several minutes. Either I wasn't speaking terribly clearly or the woman wasn't understanding as we weren't communicating well.

Popped in for lunch with friend- looked very stylish picked a vegetarian sandwich and some cucumber water as a treat got to till and was told my lunch was free as each staff member allowed to give free lunch to customer of choice- it had been quite a tough day so this was wonderful- what a wonderful treat - thank you!! Was such a lovely surprise :)

Popped in for quick lunch. Wanted fresh tasty food. Salad great but chicken and veg soup very bland. Staff very disinterested in customers. Conversation carried on between staff members as they served customers. No eye contact- totally disinterested as they discussed what a staff member was buying for her lunch. NOT impressed.

Staff OK the breakfast pot not to good. But went back at lunch time as i was working round the corner from it and what a difference the staff cheerful and attentive the soaps to many to choose from the sandwiches again to many to choose from i would recommend you visit for lunch the only down side over price for a can of coke. The chicken salad sandwich and the tomato soup very tasty its not budget food its food on the go for some but we sat a nice table and enjoyed our lunch

A traditional Pret a Manger with excellent sandwiches and great soups. As always they use fresh local organic ingredients. A nice stop for lunch.

We love Pret a Manger because they cater so well for vegans and vegetarians, all their food is delicious, great choices and in our opinion, far better than any of the coffee chains that are around. The Pret on North Bridge is bigger than others 'in town' so plenty of tables/seats. I love that Pret a Manger does non-dairy 5 grain porridge and love their vegan bircher muesli too. Cant wait for Edinburgh to have it's first veggie Pret a Manger like London (we've been).

Devo dire che non ho trovato niente di simile in tutto Edimburgo una cosa spettacolare. Entri e ti trovi frigoriferi pieni e zeppi di quasiasi cosa che vuoi tutto fresco dai tramezzini di tutti i tipi, panini ripieni abbondandi, frutta fresca gia lavata e tagliata in bicchieri, tutta roba chiusa e imbustata emeticamante, dolci belli alla vista ed al palato. Alla cassa una ragazza italiana Ilaria molto qualificata e professionale. Una cosa fondamentale locale pulitissimo e sopratutto i bagni, importante per un locale con un'affluenza molto elevata. I locali di questa catena sono tutti molto graziosi e spaziosi, la qualità mi sembra superiore a quella dei vari Costa e Starbucks. Decisamente consigliato per colazioni, pranzi e spuntini!

Ogni volta che vado da Pret à Manger resto soddisfatta per la qualità del cibo proposto e la bontà ovviamente! Lo vorrei anche nella mia città!

Zoals verwacht levert pret ook hier prima eten en drinken. Wel mag als er binnen wordt gegeten, worden geserveerd op normale borden en plastic bestek klopt ook niet in de prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Jammer!

I like Pret for lunches but do not recommend for breakfast; the coffee is substandard and the oatmeal was gross. My husband says his breakfast in a pot was ok and the roll but probably not to be repeated.

Die Sachen waren alle nicht wirklich lecker, aber teuer. Jegliche Vorstellung von nett am Tisch sitzen kann man vergessen. Eher fast schon Bahnhofsatmosphäre.

I work round the corner, so frequent Pret for my lunch regularly. The food is fresh and well made, a great variety of healthy tasty options. The staff are friendly and are always on the ball. I have encountered many members of staff and they all work hard to meet customer satisfaction. Even when it is busy they are so quick and efficient. They also make great coffees and hot chocolates, after working in hospitality for many years, it's made me very fussy about hot drinks being made right and the staff at north bridge Pret know how to not burn the milk! 10/10!

Fast efficient service with ample room to sit down. Situated just above the bridge, just short of the Royal Mile. Busy, as I guess as the service and coffee was good.

Not much is open on Christmas, especially for breakfast but Pret a Manger was. So in an effort to sustain some nutrition, at, least to hold us until lunch, we dropped in for cafe lattes and croissants. Everything was fine, not weak or outstanding. This did keep us going.

After seeing dozens of these all over London we stopped here to grab a breakfast on the go and I was shocked that it was really good food, especially for the price. I ended up going back to grab a sandwich croissant another time too. And the staff who waited on me was so very friendly!

Just like the one in Aberdeen the coffee and tea are excellent. The filter coffee at just 99p must be the best on offer anywhere. I had a croissant which came straight from the oven. Really nice.
