First of all the staff on reception in the evening when we arrived and in the morning when we left were very friendly and helpful. Our problem was with the rooms. The first room we were given had a musty/wet dog type of smell. It also hadn’t been cleaned that well as there was hair, dust and dust bunnies on bathroom floor and on skirting boards and carpet.??We complained and reception gave us another room. The second room was better but still had some dust bunnies around and biscuit and food debris under the chair seat. We only had towels for one person. It was a bit of a disappointment as we visited 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. If you think we are being overcritical, my wife used to work for a major hotel chain and we now run our own holiday accommodation business, and cleanliness and service is what people pay for. I would also recommend two bins are provided for recyclable and other waste rather than placing waste for recycling on the carpet.

What a wonderful place. the water-view rooms are right on the water which is fantastic. Brilliant bed and shower, every single staff member we met was smiley and helpful. You literally could not find fault. Same in restaurant which I will review separately. Nice to be out of central town for a change. Lovely spot

Nice hotel, cosy vibe. Rooms were clean and fresh. Food was lovely. Only complain would be the lack of plugs.

I was anxious at booking this seeing the negative reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Compared to the 2* French hotels which are smaller and lack facilities like hairdryers, extra pillows and kettles, this feels like luxury and a no brainer. Better value to have a night here before or after the ferry than pay for a cabin to use for around 3.5 hours.

Please do not stay in this hotel. It was a waste of money (£132 for one night), it was dirty everywhere and we didn’t want to go near this hotel. It stunk like a dentist everywhere and when we entered the room, there was piss stains on the toilet. We refused to stay here and they didn’t not offer a refund. I chose to take this further by making a formal complaint and premier inn did not consider anything and automatically said that they reject the request for a refund, considering we was there for 15 minutes. This is the worst hotel that I have stayed in so I would advise to stay elsewhere.

Not the Jewell in the crown of the Premier Inn empire, to say the least! This place clearly knows that, no matter how bad it is, folk will still stay here due to its proximity to the ferry. Tired, grubby, disinterested service and The Drove next door was pretty grim too. I particularly enjoyed the bathroom door repair - a strip of parcel tape!!! It’s a hop, skip and a jump from the ferry, but has little else to recommend it. Premier Inn, you should be embarrassed.

The hotel, for us, is perfectly placed, being a 3-minute drive to the ferry port. The bed was comfortable, and the sheets were fresh. There were spare pillows available. The only thing letting the hotel down was the uncared for state of the bathroom. The grouting wasn't clean, and the sealant needed redoing. There is a Brewers Fare next to the hotel, and the fish and chips were delicious. It's only a short walk into town where there is a choice of other bars and restaurants. Despite some negatives I would reuse if in that part of the country.

Extremely terrible room maintenance and unacceptable room condition. Serious water leakage problem, bathroom floor; ceiling, wall, carpet near the bathroom were wet. Awful damp smell in the room and water dripping sounds all night long. Couldn’t sleep. Complained to the Premier Inn staff immediately when we get the room at 9pm but was told that it was full and no room to change. Electric power suddenly suspended in the room at midnight and water was dripping from the ceiling lights (at least 3 areas). Extremely dangerous as we stayed with child in the room. Complained to the inn staffs at 2am, they hardly found a double bed room (untidy bed) for us to change. We and my child squeezed into the double bed but better than staying in that dangerous room. Called to Premier Inn guest relations, waited for 35 mins until they picked the call.

We stayed here on a hot night, there was no air con and we couldn't open the window as it had a stay to stop children falling out, into the bargain the fan provided did not work, it was unbearable!

Stayed in an accessible room for 1 night. Very warm room but had a fan to keep cool. Went to grab the fan from the corner to find a rip in the carpet and massive stains. Reported to reception. Very quiet location and very friendly staff upon arrival.

The rooms are tired and in need of deep cleaning and decorating. The staff were superb and the hotel has a larger than average free car park. Highly recommended.

was expecting better from premier inn seriously. cancelled one night for two rooms we booked after confirming with front desk guy called jake it's ok, so we checked out. but still got charged the full amount without refund. Frustration, contacted premier inn customer service n times, the new haven hotel 2 times, said they would follow up, ended up all up in the air still the same. No refund, no news after nearly 2 months. A scam. not mentioning the room we had, a spot light above the bed was not working and shampoo ran out.

Hotel restaurant closed at 6pm because of staff shortages so now after a long journey we have hungry children and nowhere family friendly to eat.

Stayed this weekend. Place looks and smells like an old people’s home. The room was very tired looking. Reception staff were nice enough. Things I thought I was getting when booking was ….. Daily room clean. That didn’t happen. Iron and ironing board in room. No had to go hunting for that. Mini fridge in room. Nope. All in all very disappointing for a room that cost £90 per night

The staff here were all very helpful. My friends and I were doing the Brighton Marathon. Food was good, we had breakfast and dinner in the adjoining pub. A 10 minute walk to the train station and there is a 20 minute train to Brighton, although if you do drive in, it's a stunning road along the coast, particularly at sundown

Ideal location if you're catching the ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe. Rooms as you would expect from a Premier Inn, spacious and large bed.

Very dirty hotel, we had to bring back the noisy cleaning lady €82 per room without breakfast we had a sea view in Brighton for less. With the breakfast I strongly cancel that of this hotel.

As we were visiting our daughter we thought we would try out Newhaven as it wasn't far away from her. I've read reviews of this hotel and it's pretty mixed. Overall yes it's looking a bit dated and our room was fairly clean, but it wasn't disgusting. The bed was super/comfortable as usual and the bathroom was clean. Everything worked apart from the room thermostat which I suspected wasn't linked to the heater properly as on arrival it said the room was 28 degrees (roasting). Anyway it's simple to turn it off. Never got cold in the room without it on. I don't think the hotel was really busy so noise at night was minimal. The staff were friendly so no issues there. Plenty of free parking is available and there's Brewers restaurant next door for breakfast and evening meal and Sainsbury's for shopping. McDonald's and KFC are a short walk away. There's a local pub nearby. Location wise it's ideal for Brighton or Eastbourne as the "coastal bus" runs past it. Value wise it's ok and it's good as a base for a trip around the coast.

Service was friendly enough and luckily plenty of room for all 8 in my group to sit. However, there was flies everywhere which made it a fairly unpleasant experience. There was also a dead fly in my son's beans. When I took it back, they found more dead flies in the beans 🤢. Disappointed by only 3 choices on the menu, Also, no mention of allergies/what was in the pies. If I had known there was mushrooms in the pie I would not have ordered it.
