Stayed two nights a few weeks ago. Rooms smell musty, carpets grim. Breakfast was a shambles, messy, running out of food and drinks, no crockery. Person on reception didn’t wan to be there. Excellent location is only plus.

Got there at eight to find out that some idiot in head office had sacked all the staff from the attached pub and asked them to apply for there own jobs and found themselves with just one single member left. So no food available now and just one very expensive Italian close by. This premier inn is out of town so you are pretty much buggered on a Sunday night after driving four hours and end up eating a crap Chinese takeaway.

I won’t be staying here again. We do installs and regularly stay till the afternoon. Today though was in the bar/restaurant as usual after getting kicked out of room at the standard 12pm. But was asked to leave the bar / rest as they close during the day. Now I’ve got nowhere to go for 3 hrs. Not impressed

When we checked in the window had been left open all day so it was freezing cold & the wall mounted heating didnt work. The on duty receptionist checked this out and supplied us with free standing heaters so all good in the end

Pretty filthy, but the price is right. We booked the family room as we had two small kids and in theory it could fit us all in. Unfortunately we decided to shift one of the kid beds over a few inches to prevent them rolling out during the night. It was then we saw how filthy the rooms actually were. Surface level, they seemed to be clean but all the beds were surrounded by a thick layer of dust and mould was on the walls around the bed closest to the window. This room hasn't been deep cleaned in a long time, perhaps years. This meant I took the small bed near the window as I didn't want my kid's heads next to a load of black mould and dust I would have brought it up with reception but after checking in they were nowhere to be seen. I assume due to cost cutting they don't have staff most of the time. The price was good, the bed was alright, but don't expect a clean room. For some reason the TV took 5+ seconds to respond to any input too, which was interesting.

On arrival the prebooked early arrival wasnt avialable.(time you scrapped that, you cant guarantee it) In our bedroom 210 we arrived back at the hotel 5 hours after our initial arrival to find our bed very shabbly made up. On pulling back the duvet there was a stain/mark on the mattress cover sheet.(reported to reception) Finally the pre booked breakfast. Was a disgrace, staff quit ignorant. We were told any hot items had to be pre ordered.(never happened in all the years weve been using premier inn) Very little food available,as cutelry and plates. So we refused to stay for breakfast and asked for the 4 pre paid breafasts to be refunded, this still hasnt happened time of this report. Rooms 204 & 210

Haven't used a Premier Inn for quite a few years. I was very disappointed to feel they had gone down in quality considerably. This one was well past it's sell by date. Decoration shabby and I felt the staff were doing the bare minimum with no real pride in their work. The location gets the extra star as it was situated right next to the railway station.

Booked into the premier plus room for the 1st time! Room was spacious with seating at mirrors and dressing table. Coffee nachine with pods which was very easy to use. Fab walk in power shower. I would have given 5 stars for value for money of the room but carpet was dirty looking. Staff were helpful and friendly

Doesn't have the facilities that are advertised - restaurant closed down, breakfast may or may not go ahead depending staff turn in. Seems to be a symptom of absent management - sick ... calls in sometimes ... etc Staff uninterested. Told to contact head office. Did just that. Head office also uninterested - could only manage form letter responses - so nothing likely to change here. Better off staying elsewhere.

This hotel has to be the worst place I have had the misfortune to find myself, The receptionist had such an unprofessional attitude, the rooms were filthy, cold and unhygienic, there was no breakfast served and the restaurant was closed, Never Never Never would I even think about staying here,

This is by far the worst Premier Inn I have ever stayed in. The reminder email advertises early book in (11:00) for £10, but only on arrival. When we arrived, we were told this was not the case and we had to wait until 3pm, but should go do something else whilst waiting. As we only had just over an hour to wait, we decided to stay in the foyer as the restaurant/bar was out of use and there is very little in the area (except for a train station). The elevator was also out of use, which listening to other visitors was quite a big problem although did not really affect us directly. The Premier Plus room that other members of my family had stayed in, had no heating and very mild hot water, not suitable for a shower. This was "rectified" by giving them an oil radiator. The quad room that I stayed in was not suitable for the number of beds that were required to sleep the 4 of us, with furniture having to be removed to make way for the beds. Despite the TV having Freeview, there were no channels other than the basic 5. Breakfast was served in the (most of the time closed) restaurant, and whilst the continental breakfast was buffet style, the hot breakfast was ordered at the table, and then your menus taken away (so make sure you order enough the first time). The hot breakfast took quite a while to come, which worked out in our favour as the hotel contains the worlds most inefficient toaster. But I was later informed by party members that the wait for breakfast had reach an hour. Checkout was fairly straight forwards, as there was no one around. Safe to say, I will not be returning and would advise readers to consider alternatives.

The worst premier inn I've ever stayed in .....staff need training in hospitality all staff on duty from 20th to 22nd November had no welcoming or communication skills ...the lit had been broken for days and staff shortages meant no restaurant in the evening staff were obviously tired of relaying this information...we accepted these inconveniences but no courtesy greetings or farewell unforgivable so rude

Booked 3 nights, faulty hot water, no food available due to staff shortages and faulty systems. Staff rude, and not helpful. Black mould growing in places, Room had view over kitchen waste compound, someone needs to learn to close bins, and not leave food waste bags on the ground.

Good location and friendly staff. Comfy beds. BUT It’s noisy. We were a family of four and the receptionist warned us that we were above other rooms so asked that our kids didn’t run about after 8pm. Cheek of it when we were under, what sounded like, a herd of elephants for our entire stay. Doors slam so loudly constantly day and night. Family room big but the only window was in the annex area so it was dingy. So hot and no air con. Hot breakfast was off the one day we wanted it. So we got a continental, which was nice but I’d paid for a full breakfast. Asked for a refund twice from two different staff but they kept saying someone else would be sorting it. But I’ve yet to hear about it. Mediocre at best, but a nice friendly team.

Arrived Sunday evening and found there was no restaurant. We'd booked the meal deal so had to get a refund. Loads of people in the same boat. Told we were sent an email. We weren't. Nowhere open nearby, so made do with a pot noodle.

The hotel is tired, dirty and should basically be closed. They are very short staffed with a rude lady on reception. The restaurant and bar are closed but it will still accept a booking for a meal deal. My advice would be book elsewhere.

Breakfast needs updating. No coffee machine so only black with milk. Outdated toasters which take ages and bathrooms all need a grab rail if the shower is over the bath. Many people who miss out on a accessible room still need stability in the shower myself included.

Went there to celebrate a special occasion so booked a premier room. It was dirty! I was so disappointed. I usually give a hotel room a wipe around but had to really do a lot in this one, the bathroom had lots of dust on the skirting boards, the sink was covered in hair - looked as if someone had shaved and shaken the razor all over, the fittings in the shower where they fitted to the wall had black mould, I did get a lot off but it had been there a while, the toilet fittings were equally filthy, that came off easily, but I didn't think I should have had to do that, or any cleaning. The soap dispenser was broken so I had to remove the container so we could access the soap. The tray for making tea hadn't been cleaned, the container for tea bags etc was stuck to the tray with what looked like spilled milk, the coffee maker was filthy I didn't use it. The window frame and glass had black mould, easily removed. There were bits of paper under the edge of the bed, bits of plastic under the desk, and the surfaces needed dusting. The only clean things were the bedding and towels. I did complain, but the only member of staff was the receptionist who did offer to come up and sort it but she couldn't leave her post and wasn't sure when she'd arrive. That wasn't acceptable. She advised me to write a bad review! The stairway up to the room was in such need of a good hoover, the bits in the floor when we arrived were still there when we left 4 days later! We did use the adjoining restaurant, the food wasn't bad, but we found the breakfast not good value for money so only used once, but we did have lunch there which was nice (rump steak and a mixed grill) However the restaurant itself needed a good dust and hoover. We chose this hotel because it had parking which isn't easy in Harrogate but wouldn't go there again. I do not recommend that you go here.

Our family stayed here for three nights, large room, great breakfast and location, very much recommended. A special shout out to the manager and especially Leonna working at reception, who chased down a watch we left in our room, and then went above and beyond to keep it safe and post it to us. Amazing staff.

Hotel was great. It's a Premier Inn (pi). Standard, good rooms. Service is always a problem at p.i. Checking in 6 people took 30 minutes! Not good. PI needs to sort its i.t. systems out. We had a business account! My main gripe is the 'attached' pub! Sunday hours ....bar closes at 9pm! In the week it's 10pm! Ridiculous! The bar staff (young lads) at table/table were helpful and attentive, but the management were very un friendly and, almost, hostile! Not a good atmosphere. All in all....hotel - 7/10. Table/table pub - 3/10. Food very average. Stay at your peril!

The staff work hard at providing a very comfortable stay within the confines of a listed building. The room hd everything we wanted- an extensive selection of refreshments, lots and f towels, hanging space, iron, hair dryer etc & we literally didn't want to get out of the bed. Add that to the excellent location - we would definitely come again.

Upmarket Italian Restaurant with all the classic dishes and more you would expect from an established chain. The atmosphere and service was top notch. I sampled some interesting cocktails, a delicious Calamari starter, and a rich tiramisu that melted in the mouth. I was not entirely convinced with the steak which was lacking in juices, flavour, and was a tad bit dry and tough. Will stick to the more 'traditional' Italian mains next time.
