Prego in Isle of Wight

After a dreary day dodging rain what a great find in an unpromising area of town near the ferry. A warm welcome from a charming hostess and great food. I had a giant calzone which was delicious. Eat your heart out Cornish pasties. We were just visiting but if we were locals this would be a regular place to eat. Great food, great wine and good value.

1st Visit Of 2024 To This Lovely Restaurant, Didn't pre-book but Were made very welcome as walk in customers, despite the restaurant being already busy. It's Just As Great As Always! The Staff Are Lovely And The Food Was Very Tasty. 10 / 10 - We Will Be Back! 🙂

What a lovely little restaurant, tucked away in East Cowes. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was excellent!

Excellent food and service. Really good specials menu. Highly recommend the smoked haddock and prawns in a creamy tomato sauce starter, and chicken red pesto gnocchi. Pizzas also really good. We visited two nights in a row as the food was so good!

This was our first visit as a group & we were told This restaurant was the ‘best Italian on the Island’ by another visitor. Well I haven’t been to any other Italians on the IOW but it would be hard to beat this one. I am lucky enough to visit Lake Garda CNN in Italy quite often & Prego would stand amongst the best out there!

L’ambiance est sympathique et il est possible de voir les cuisines ouvertes. Les pâtes sont bonnes et originales. En revanche, la pâte à pizza manque cruellement de goût. Les allumettes de jambon sont dommage lorsque l’on s’attend à des véritables tranches.

A jewel of a restaurant, excellent food and service. Can't rate highly enough. I can recommend Prego for get togethers or more intimate evenings.

Just had the Penne Amatriciana delivered. Hot, tasty and absolutely delicious food, friendly staff and prompt, polite delivery. I would highly recommend!

Absolutely gorgeous vegan pizza and yummy vegan doughballs! Wish they were on the mainland! The pizzas were more than the usual choice for vegans. Lovely toppings

Always a great place to eat and spend time with friends.

Staff are really friendly here and always on hand to help. The food is great and tastes almost as good when ordering as a takeaway. My only slight critisism is that the main menu never changes. Highly reccomend!

Really nice unassuming Italian restaurant in East Cowes. Dough balls and meat ball starters were lovely followed by risotto and a pasta dish. Both awesome. Friendly staff and good service. Definitely go back again

Went here when there was a very unusual incident with the police blocking off the road opposite the restaurant that night and I couldn't move my car. The food was delicious and the mocktails. But the best thing was the lady who was running it, she was very kind, allowed my daughter and I to stay in there way past finishing our food, for hours until we could move the car and giving us a free drink each. My daughter asked if we can go back when we next visit the Island, the incident didn't put her off.

Beautiful little restaurant in East Cowes. We had booked for a party of 8, but they managed to fit in a couple more people at the last minute. The place is small but doesn’t feel cramped, due to strategic placing of tables. We ordered a variety of pizzas, pastas and risottos, and every one was voted extraordinarily good by group members. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, and the whole experience was delightful. Will definitely return!

What a fabulous find !!! This little gem of a restaurant was recommended to us and I'm so glad it was!! We are staying aboard a boat on the medina and decided to opt for a takeaway, I have to say the service (from calling the order through to delivery) was first class !!! I am coeliac so it's always a worry but there were plenty of gluten free options available! I have a beautiful chicken and bacon rissoto and hubby chose pizza and chilli garlic bread (not gf) which he said was really good. Highly recommend and we will certainly be ordering from here again and hopefully will also visit in person

Well this was a pleasant surprise. In a small road tucked away in East Cowes is this tiny restaurant serving Italian dishes. Not just pizza and Pasta. Various salads and risotto's, but my Calzone was an absolute revelation. Book in advance due to the low number ofvtables, but they are really accommodating. Definitely going back.

This is a fantastic place for Pizza and Pasta. Cosy atmosphere to share great food with family and friends. The front of house staff were fantastic at accommodating requests. The table layout is fluid, so a walk-in of 8 was not turned away. Just a short walk from the marina and floating bridge. I highly recommend a visit.

Stayed in east cowes in feb and again in July, visited restaurant both times, twice in July and food was delicious and waitress so friendly. Back again in September will definitely visit again 🙂

Best restaurant on the Isle of Wight, another delicious meal with fab service, we will be back soon. The mozzarella and pesto balls are beyond scrummy, great veggie pizza and super desserts ❤️❤️❤️

What a great find, fantastic little place with the most beautiful food. I would suggest booking, although they did fit us in as we had a ferry to catch fairly soon! The food was SOOO good, and dough balls like I’ve never had before, we had the blue cheese ones! Really good for children as well (we have a 5 year old!) Food came quickly and was good value. It is a small place so would recommend booking, but if no space they did look like they did take away.

We stopped here for a last minute dinner before catching the ferry back to the mainland - the food was great and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. My 9yo specifically asked for the chef to be told how yummy her pasta was!

We came here before getting on the ferry. The food was unbelievably good. The service was exemplary and the lady that served us was really nice and friendly. My only gripe is that we will not be returning to the Island until next year. When I can guarantee we will go back. The food was so nice I had to personally thank the chef on the way out!! 10 out of 10 Thank you M Wilson

This place is a little gem, food is amazing very tasty, good quality and value for money, we went twice during our stay in East cowes, went to go for our last night but couldn't get a table, was well disappointed, so book if you can. Would definitely recommend

Absolute stars! Fitted us in at the last minute for an end of school treat. The food they consistently produce from such a tiny kitchen never fails to impress. Pizza dough is so fresh and soft with the right amount of chew. It's a simple but tasty choice for the kids and good value. Get the dough balls! The manager recognised us even though its been too long and service was impeccable. One of the few places on the island that has that relaxed homely local restaurant feel that treats locals, regulars, and visitors with the same friendly professional approach. See you soon x

Such a lovely place to eat pizza in a cute little trattoria based in East Cowes. A relaxing environment, with good food and friendly service.

Simply excellent 👌 one of the best meals I have had on the island, wild mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly and the seafood spaghetti was excellent. Garlic bread to die for... enough to share between two! We will return for sure, I think the empty plates says it all! 2023 update: still as good as the first time we ate here. Fantastic food. We had Penne Carne as a pasta and Risotto both were spectacular.

Found this small restaurant in unlikely place. Once inside, everything was wonderful. Pizza and pasta were delicious. Had garlic bread for starters which was large portion. Great service. Thanks

Visited with a couple of friends for Saturday night dinner. Crowded, noisy…. and excellent…. Ok it’s a smaller venue, and by its nature not a quiet intimate space, but it was friendly, service was good, food excellent. I’d say typical Italian! Would happily return.

Delicious Spaghetti Bolognaise. Rich and plentiful

A great little Italian. Attracted by the prospect of gluten-free pasta we were delighted by the gamberri with gf fusilli and a lovely carbonara with regular pasta. Given the quality of the mains and the presence of a gluten-free chocolate tart on the dessert menu we stayed for pudding and both the tart and my tiramisu were also excellent. Soft drinks are good value with my glass of Sauvignon blanc slightly overpriced but good quality.

Lovely food service ☺️ Had an issue a while back where their website let me place an order and I then saw they were actually closed however was quickly refunded the following day and staff were very kind and helpful. Another time I ordered a pizza and was actually given a complimentary second one as the chef himself wasn't happy with what I received - that shows class. Excellent food, lovely staff and very nicely decorated inside - small and rustic :) The Christmas menu was also amazing, highly recommend the haddock risotto if it comes back!

Really lovely little restaurant, thoughtfully decorated, and friendly staff. The garlic bread was amazing - I don't normally go for a starter but I'm so glad I did, and then the bolognaise was just incredible! I only wish I'd had space for dessert to see how good that would have been!

We are staying on the Isle of Wight for a week and found this restaurant online as we wanted a nice meal for my mums birthday. Did not disappoint, the best garlic bread with cheese I have ever had and mushroom risotto to die for. This will be the first place I visit when we come back to the island

The food was great! We love Italian food and this has to be one of the best if not the best Italian we have had. We went with 7 people no issues everyone ate together and everyone ate something different. Everyone loved it. If you live local you are lucky people. If your on holiday.. make sure you give it a go!

Best Calzone ive had in years, unique decor and fantastic service. Will 100% return and highly recommend.

Very small but good things come in small packets. One of the best Italian restaurants we have ever been to. Booking is essential but that's because you you are going to eat really really well

A must visit restaurant! Amazing food and great small friendly restaurant. Went for birthday dinner and the waitress held my 4 month old baby whilst I ate my dinner. Great service and great food.

It's 5 stars from me!!!! It's my favourite place to get a takeaway. The food is authentic Italian and is of a very high quality. Really delicious 😋 and the staff are very accommodating. I highly recommend Prego!!! If you like Italian food get yourself down there, you won't regret it!

Good atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. Funny how tiny things can ruin your experience. One of us asked for chilli oil. On the bill an extra £1 EACH was added for this. Now, as I say a tiny thing and mains are reasonably priced, but more than made up for by the price of drinks. Unfortunately this tiny extra charge for chilli oil may well stop us returning

Early evening meal with family, grandson only 6 but he likes good food. Very small restaurant but good things come in small packages. Great dough balls that just oozed filling to start with then risotto which I could have eaten all night and still wanted more. The pizza the others had was perfection, just enough cooking to get the base right and the topping was full of flavour (I pinched a bite off my grandson). The staff are so friendly and just want you to enjoy your meal. Whenever we are on the island we try and get to Prego for a meal because it is so good. One thing to know, there is only one toilet and it's a bit small.

This place is cozy and friendly with a fantastic menu. The prices are extremely reasonable and made with quality, local ingredients. My kids love this place.

We went to the place after looking at all these reviews. But the staff was rude and racist. The lady at the counter declined to seat us in a rude manner even when they had vacant seats. And then they allowed English family to get seats even when they didn't have reservations. It was clear that the lady was a bigot and racist.

What an experience!!! Not only was the food amazing and delicious but the customer services was the best. Despite my own mistake when it came to ordering they willingly offered to change my order. Many thanks to Nicola and management for making us feel so welcome. Would absolutely recommend.

The Pizza was average nothing special. And we were charged. £39.50 when the bill was £3.5+4.75+13.50+14.95 = 36.70 . On the bill it said Gratuity not included. Make sure and check your bill.

Excellent Italian style pizza place with excellent customer service and a very pleasant atmosphere. My only regret is that I forgot to tip and didn't see it wasn't included! Will definitely visit again

Food was good but overrated. Pasta was overcooked. Asked for ID to order wine with a meal which is a first for me.

Walked in to drink a coffee and ended up staying for dinner. Had a risotto with smoked haddock and king prawns and it was delicious. The other options on the menu also seemed lovely. The staff is very friendly and helpful, would definitely visit again!

Loved this little Italian restaurant, visited by chance having read the reviews prior to getting the ferry. Luckily there was a spare table! Lovely atmosphere, very friendly & good food. The pistachio tirramisu was particularly good. Look forward to our next visit.

Only one word to describe this place, amazing!! The food was amazing and so tasty! The service was very very good and then the atmosphere was very pleasant! The place had some of the best italian food i have had in ages and i would definitely be going there again on my next visit to the Isle of Wight!!! Definitely recommend!!!

We went without a booking and it wasn't a problem. The service was excellent but the food not so much.

A small nicely decorated restaurant with a good atmosphere. They managed to squeeze us in before our ferry trip back to Southampton. Stuffed dough balls were a first for us and very tasty. Pizzas and Calzone were spot on. All in all, a great experience and good value. Next time we're on the island we'll definitely make a reservation for a return visit.

Fantastic little find! Does everything well, especially Cealiac/gluten free and the cosy size makes a refreshing change from the larger restaurants. Do book ahead to guarantee your table.

Never written a review so soon after a meal. What can we say 5 stars is not enough. AMAZING! Second visit this week and if I were here for a few more nights I’d go back again. Waited all year to visit and it did not disappoint. Food fantastic. Service excellent atmosphere spot on. Made to feel right a home.

Nicer than seafood tagliatelle we never tried. Their bacon and blue cheese dough balls just delicious. Tirramisu just OK, still 5 star to them

This is a small restaurant, so even if booking in advance is not required I would reccomend to do so, or the risk that there will be no seats left is very high. As an Italian, I would say the food quality is good but not excellent. They have got our food ready quite fast after we ordered, so that's a plus. They offer pizza, pasta, salads, fresh drinks and desserts too. It is worth to give it a try.

Fab little Italian, delicious pasta and pizza. Great service. We visited twice in our holiday week, it was that good. Worth getting the floating bridge chain ferry from West Cowes. Do book though, was busy on Saturday night.

Prego is a lovely little restaurant! We came here on our holiday, and had a pizza and pasta. The food was delicious! The staff are also so friendly and helpful! Highly recommend! Would love to eat here again when we next go to the Isle of Wight!
