We had lunch at The Potting Shed with family. This was a return visit, and we think it’s the best garden centre restaurant in the area. Soup was carrot and coriander (delicious, could’ve eaten more!), sandwiches were very fresh, and the haddock and chips were delicious. Restaurant is very clean and well laid out, tables not too close together. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Lovely breakfast. Is it me, or are all the staff just a tad surly? We’ve been many times and are often dismayed at the lack of attention and I suppose hospitality, this seems to run throughout the centre. It’s odd, they all appear pleasant but guarded or reserved, there’s rarely any connection or interaction. It’s easily remedied, but probably stems from the top down. It’s really just an observation and the whole place is lovely so, just offering advice from someone from a lifetime in retail.

We've always enjoyed our lunches at The Potting shed but yesterday was a dissapointment. We'd often been on a friday & seen what looked like delicous fish & chips, sadly our experience was dissapointing, maybe we expected too much, whilst the meal looked good except for a shortage of chips but the batter on the fish was, as seems the norm in Bridlington, raw when we took it off the fish, why oh why does this seem acceptable. The only place within a 10 mile radious of Bridlington that can get it right is Seamer fisheries, light & crispy & cooked right through The fish fryers of Bridlington should visit this fish shop & go on a training course with its fryers. We won't let this experience put us off going to the Potting Shed but won't risk fish & chips again.

Been here many times but not for a while. Left disappointed on this visit. Prices have definitely gone up. A small bottle of Fanta orange £2.95. Mum doesn’t eat a lot so we asked for the fish on its own - no chips or peas and they charged us full price £11.99. Dad said the fish wasn’t that nice. The chips were obviously cheap frozen, very anaemic and dry. We won’t we visiting The Potting Shed again sadly.

My husband brought me here for lunch. We both decided to have fish and chips. Excellent choice! The batter was light and crispy, the fish was fresh and it was cooked to perfection. It was a good sized portion with chips and mushy peas. Can highly recommend!

Have eaten here before it seems to have gone downhill. Our meals came quickly almost too quickly. Plates cold, meat lukewarm and over cooked parsnips and carrots. The Yorkshire puddings cold in the middle. Very disappointed. Paid at the beginning so no recompense.

Not sure what's going on with this place we have used the potting shed on a regular basis for nearly five years occasional lunches and regulars for Sunday Roast lunch Come back recently to support local business following lockdowns ordered two meals today came quickly normal service but then huge long hair in side salad with burger took it back they then got me another by which time partner had finished his meal then second attempt burger not cooked properly Offered another drink but then when settling bill asked was everything OK? No obviously not no apology no offer to reduce bill just a running commentary from lady on till that your burger would have been cooked as they are done to correct temperature! Can't believe service level has got so bad very disappointed not what we have come to expect from this normally well ran family business that we have frequented for years

What a lovely experience. Lovely sandwiches with a little salad so you could add to them. The cakes and scones were just divine. Certainly worth the money and will definitely be back. We even got to bring our left of cakes home. I would of been happy with the just the fruit cake and cheese. The cake was so soft and moist I would of traded a cake for a bigger piece. It was that nice.

This is the second poor breakfast here recently , lukewarm , half an egg , the only item hot was the sausage and never did get the toast .I know that they were busy getting lunches as it was Mothers day but if they could not do breakfast properly then they should not have bothered at all. There was no excuse the last time we went sometimes they don't seem to care and no real apology ,we used to enjoy going here but use it less and less now.

A colleague and I decided that The Potting Shed would be a great place to occasionally take breakfast and discuss business in quiet and pleasant surroundings and upon our first visit we received very friendly service and better than average food (although frankly the sausages are cheap and not what you'd expect from the establishment). The price is much higher than cafes in town for what you get served but we were happy to pay the extra for the favourable venue and friendly service. Clearly we got lucky the first time as our second visit was ghastly, the staff were not particularly friendly (each at varying levels from inconsiderate to just down right disinterested - very unwelcoming). Had I not spotted a food stain slowly dissolving into our milk we'd of drunk it so my friend went for a fresh jug. I had to wipe a tea stain off one of the cups which had become ingrained in a crack (the cup should of been thrown away and not offered to customers). The food arrived with the aforementioned cheap sausage, rather unpleasant and tiny button mushrooms, claggy beans and barely cooked grilled tomatoes (the bacon / eggs were ok)..the toast arrived over half way through our meal so providing us with preserves at this point was somewhat backwards but at least it saved me another trip inside to enquire where the toast had dissapeared to (which I was about to do). By this point we were wondering how much worse things could get/feel and were answered by the sound of chairs and tables being dragged across the floor (not lifted to show any kind of consideration to diners) to be followed by the floors being scrubbed which just ruined the rest of the meal and made it impossible to think/talk. It was so noisy my friend had to ask her to stop which naturally makes you feel like a fussy customer. Not a nice imposition! What a foul experience for £22. We are certainly never going again and save nearly ten pounds in the process by visiting a cafe in town (whilst securing two quality sausages rather than one ghastly one :-)

Braving the sub zero temperatures to purchase reduced price treasures for our garden we soon succumbed and retreated to this cosy café. A delicious aroma assailed our nostrils and led me to choose from the specials board. Sun streamed through the windows of this pristine venue and we were soon served. A semi self service was in place which meant we were eating all the sooner, and the food was piping hot and scrumptious. The café was busy and no wonder, prices very reasonable. Fortified by a great lunch we returned to our shopping. We will be back. Bumped into several acquaintances who were also eating there which says it all.

We visited this morning for breakfast with our 6 month old baby. Pleased to see mother and baby spaces at the front of the site, and as we walked into the cafe saw every table had a single menu 'Breakfast Menu" Served until 11:30. We took at a table and also made use of the large baby change, also very good, however disappointment was soon to come. I went to the counter to order to see another sign, 'Breakfast only until 11 on a Sunday', I checked my phone, 10:58 ! 'Can I order two breakfasts please?' 'No more breakfasts,' was the brusque reply. 'But its not 11 yet,' I replied. 'We're doing carvery soon.' No sorry, no interest or dialogue. We could have ordered something else, but the sheer lack of interest and rudeness meant we left. The centre has obviously made efforts for families, but a few simple observations - if you stop breakfasts early on a Sunday - print it on your home made menu, take your menus in, don't have them left out on every table, and encourage staff to remember, customers are coming to spend money not just today but potentially many more times in the future; politeness costs nothing. We left through the sheer frustration of the reply - not an easy decision having just settled a 6 month old child - we found a farm shop 5 minutes away where the customer service could not have been more different !

We came here on a Saturday afternoon to take advantage of a Christmas present. We had to pre-book afternoon tea and on arrival were taken to special area of the cafe. Each table was beautifully laid put with cups, saucers and plates ready for drinks and food to be brought to our table. Having chosen a window seat, we enjoyed a little bit of the spring sun while waiting. Tea was served first followed by sandwiches, cakes and scones. The sandwich selection included ham, egg and cress and cucumber accompanied by salad and cheese straws. Once finished we made short work of the lemon drizzle cake, cream meringue and lemon curd tart, quickly followed by a jam and cream fruit scone. Simply delicious! Not our usual Saturday food, but worth a visit for a treat. Lovely food, pleasant and helpful staff and a clean, bright well maintained restaurant. We've eaten here a number of times and always had a good meal at very reasonable prices. The concept is carvery so you have to queue, are served your meat or dish and then help yourself to vegetables etc. There is also a menu from which you can order via the chef and they bring it to your table. On this occasion it was quite busy but we were able to secure a table. The consequence of it being busy is that whilst you start off with a plate full of hot food, by the time you've worked your way through the queue to pay, it's going cold. This is a problem they definitely need to sort at busy times. The food was good but disappointingly cold by the time we got to eat it.Be aware of this if you turn up and it's fairly busy!!!

6 of us called for lunch. We ordered some meals to be cooked to order and others were specials on the counter. Food was all paid for. The lady serving was lacking in customer service skills. When we ordered the meals there was plenty of stew and dumplings and shepherds pie. By the time they brought the meals which were cooked to order, there was stew but no dumpling and no shepherds pie as they had given the portion paid for to someone else! So one of us went without any lunch as other food had sold out by that point! To add insult to injury, the refund was then short. The food we did get was average.

We came for drinks on a busy Sun shortly after they opened and were appalled by the service at the bar (staff taking everyone waiting out of turn etc.). Unfortunately we had the same horrible service...bad bar etiquette, long wait for food (despite not being busy), and clueless staff (I asked if they had a baby changing area and she didn't know..). He took the dish back and we never heard anything else. No apology, no refund nothing! Once he took the dish back we were not even acknowledged again! Then a member of our party had an undercooked burger which was still pink in parts! After the hassle of the omelette we just left the complaining. As the meal was served within 10 minutes of ordering i think they should really check the standard of the food rather than worrying how long it takes to come out the kitchen!

From the standard menu, there is a specials board, I decided to have a hot baguette tuna and cheese melt (£4.55) a side order of chips (£1.75) and a pot of tea for one (£1.79). I had hardly sat down and made my first of 3 cups of tea from the pot, when my food was courteously delivered to my table. The baguette was crusty and slightly chewy (just right) and the tuna and cheese were very tasty, it came with a fresh and crisp salad garnish. The chips were golden and plentiful being presented in a side dish. The meal was filling and enjoyable. The surroundings were clean and light with a good through flow of customers. I've been to this cafe on numerous occasions and usually have a nice meal. The place is clean, the menu has enough variety to suit everyone and with the recent extension to the seating area, it has made for improvement. However, when I visited with my husband last weekend, just after the lunch rush, we had the worst experience there that I've ever had. We ordered paninis, got our drinks and sat down. We waited, and waited, eventually to be told that they had run out of paninis (they'd had a rush on them). This was around 2 in the afternoon - not a time you would expect them to have run out. The member of staff apologised and fetched us a menu each, telling us to choose something else and he would put the order through as a priority and refund money if what we ordered cost less (never got the refund).Replacement meal chosen, we waited ages again - the place wasn't as busy as I have seen it normally and so we started on our desert while we waited. When the meal did arrive, I was rather unimpressed with my jacket potato - a bit tasteless, though at least had plenty of cheese. The side salad was barely visible, mostly lettuce with a tiny bit of tomato. The hot chocolate I ordered was so sweet I couldn't finish it. Definitely not up to their usual standard and will think twice about having a late lunch there again.

Tasty, freshly prepared meals, plenty of choice and a relaxed environment in which to rest and enjoy your meal. Would definitely recommend this café to all.

Great place to stop for lunch with freshly prepared fare. Good selection of local produce in the shop and everything you need for your garden from plants and tools to furniture and garden ornaments.

The Potting Shed Cafe at Eastfield Garden Centre is lovely, it has a warm, cosy atmosphere, the staff are friendly and the quality of the food is second to none. We had the meat stew, which was packed with flavour.

Amazing food with an equally amazing view. £50 for a family of 4 including drinks, definitely value for money. Will definitely go back.

We went on a quiet Sunday afternoon out of season because the previous review said they allowed the dog to go inside. I asked if we could take the pup in and sit out of the way in the corner. The lady said no sorry I don’t allow dogs in at all.

This cafe is now called Miss Bs pantry. Very friendly ladies and delicious food. As a coeliac myself I have to have gluten free. This is very well catered for here so my partner and I have visited on numerous occasions.Various selection of savoury dishes and cakes. Lovely latte too. Well worth a visit.

Niño amable, acogedor. Siempre una excelente pinta y un montón de ofertas de bebidas disponibles. Jardín de cerveza que es seguro y cerrado para los niños para jugar.

On behalf of a relative who visited yesterday. Small fish, really greasy. Trading under Thompson’s name but nowhere near the quality. Cash only which is an inconvenience. Won’t be returning.
